Am I losing my mind? The average citizen is so fat and happy (even the unemployed) that they are blissfully unaware that the cost of utilities is about to go up, the cost of medical insurance is about to go up, taxes are about go up, cost of living is about to go up through inflation, there is a threat of our signing a treaty that supercedes our constitution making us beholden to faceless bureaucrats in the UN, and our economy is crumbling through excessive spending. I don't think I am crying wolf. Am I the only one who thinks this is time for panic?
Dave – Everybody knows the sky's about to fall. No one can face it because no one knows how.. What do we do? The only thing anyone can do is become self sufficient. We should have done it years ago. We need truck patches and wood borners and cook stoves and lots of bags of beans and canned foods. Sooner than we think our money's not going to save us because we're wel on our way to our dollars meaning absolutely nothin! We're going to take hundred dollar bills and throw them in the air cause they ain't gonna be worth a penny. We are living in a post America right now. We're not us any more. Panic never helped nothing. The enemy's got us where they want us. It's too late.

There is no sense calling/faxing/e-mailing/writing to the congresscritters UNLESS you can truthfully say one of the following:
“I am a conservative Republican Party precinct committeeman and I am recruiting every conservative I can to come into the Party with me as a precinct committeeman for the sole purpose of making sure you and all like you who do not uphold your oath of office will not be returned to office in the next election” or
“I am a conservative Republican and I am taking steps to become a precinct committeeman and I am recruiting every conservative I can to come into the Party with me as a precinct committeeman for the sole purpose of making sure you and all like you who do not uphold your oath of office will not be returned to office in the next election.”

PCs get to vote for the leadership of the Party and help determine, by majority vote, which candidates get the endorsement of the Party in the Republican primary races. Only takes a few hours of time a month. With half the PC slots in the Party nationwide vacant, and with a fifty-fifty split right now between conservatives and moderate RINOs in the PC ranks, the Party is there for the taking by conservatives/libertarians if we’d all just get off our duffs and get to a meeting of the local GOP and volunteer to become a PC. Want to save your country? Then invigorate the “main enemy” of the Debtocrat/Socialist Party with your presence.

Becoming a PC should be every conservative’s first priority. Blogging and carrying a sign at a Tea Party or attending a town hall is great, but unless we have better leadership and candidates in the main adversary party, the Debtocrats will get returned to power. It’s all about the Constitution and all about winning the elections. The best way to restore the Constitution and to have better candidates who respect the Constitution is to join the Republican Party at the grass roots and make it happen. It’s a numbers game. The more conservatives we have in the Party in the precinct committeemen ranks, the more likely it will be that we’ll get better elected leadership within the Party and in the general elections. Michael Steele was elected not by registered Republicans but by the precinct committeemen in all fifty states.

Stockpile food like canned goods, freeze dried food , beans, pasta etc, and yes, have guns and ammo, lots of guns and ammo. There will come a time, for whatever reason, when society breaks down, the government can not or will not protect you and for a time you best be prepared to fend for yourself and your family. Look at the situation in New Orleans after Katrina or LA after the Rodney King riots. Civilization exists on a thin line, it does not take much for anarchy and chaos to break out.
Corruption is everywhere. Almost all of Congress are in it for themselves, not country. Ignorance is rampant among our fellow Americans, charges of racism, homophobia etc are flung about willynilly, the state of public education is abysmal in most states, the assault upon traditional values continues on all fronts.
William Butler Yeats maybe had this time in mind when he wrote: "Things fall apart; The center cannot hold' mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, the blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned; the best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
This country doesn't mean Sh!t to the current administration. They know there's nothing left that's ours. They know they're nothing but puppet acting on a New World Order stage! We're living right in it and it's going to come to full blown light overnight. People are going to wake up one morning and turn on our Tvs and find out that EVERYTHING has Changed. Money's going to be worth nothing and if we're not prepared for it we won't recognize our own faces in the mirror.

Re: The people speak? Gimee a break. These celebritards love to hate America. They are a bunch of rich white people who throw their manure on the country which has made them rich, famous and safe to spew their garbage. I blame the culture of spoiled rotten lefties who have insinuated themselves into our schools, universities and government. They should all try living somewhere for a while, like maybe South America or the Middle East. Maybe America might not look quite so corrupt and unfair.

Some of my family make fun of me. I have been buying, little by little, more than I need at the time and putting it away. I do not consider it a waste of my resources, as one way or another it will get used. The value of the $ is not going up, so every $ I spend now could save me 3$ later. If this lasts just awhile, I won't lose, if worse comes to worse those laughing now will come to my door.
My list includes.
Canned goods (variety)
Dried beans +rice
Flavoring packets
Juice mixes
Nuts
OTC medicines
I intend to buy a dehydrator and dry some fruits—these don't last very long though.
I am far from being a self sufficient person, but as I was raised on the old 'New England Adage'( Use it Up, Wear it Out, Make it Do! ), I should get by for awhile.
Ginger…You are wise. In years past, I bought a sailboat with the same concern we share now. I was so worried I planned on becoming independent in every way. Now I have to face any music from wherever I happen to be. The only suggestion I could make is to acquire a gun of some sort and stockpile ammo as you stockpile beans. If things really get as bad as it could get, there will be no law and order.

What happened to your sailboat?
I do the same thing, little by little. I had to come up with a system where I can track expiration dates and when some item is close to expiring, I pull it out of the emergency stash and replace it. It was kind of tedious to set the system up and record the expiration date of every food item, but it works now.

How did you set up your system? I don't really have a 'system'.
Plus, I almost forgot to mention a kerosene heater with a pretty good supply of kerosene, that heater plus our fireplace should provide the heat that we would need. This would be very important in New England in the winter. Also, one item that is most often overlooked is water.
My wife kind of makes fun of me also when i come home with some new item, but I can live with that. What I do not want to do is be part of the herd rushing to the grocery store if something catastrophic happens.
I have all my items divided up into separate containers. Most of the items in any one container should expire at about the same time. Everytime I buy some item, I record the type of item and expiration date. I keep a record on my computer and a hard copy. In the past I had lots of stuff expire and get wasted but now I have pretty much eliminated that. I have some big plastic bins, plus some of those 5 gallon buckets that have the screw-on lid. You can get some that are pretty close to being air tight. As far as freeze dried foods, I got mine on-line from Honeyville farms. That food stays good for 10 years or more.

Poor Danny Glover cleared a few million for sleepwalking through four Lethal Weapon movies, but hold your head and cry because he couldn't catch a cab once. Live some life, then you have a right to tell me all about it. Until then, read your Zinn and quit cutting into reruns of Modern Marvels.
The real lesson: Elitism and socialism in the form of populism is alright. Populism from Sarah Palin and tea parties and people who work for a living – that's dangerous. It's easy to point fingers at 9-11 and World War II when you didn't have to go do the fighting.

It is time for open defiance by the States! This is the only way we will have protection – because the national guards of Texas and Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arizona, and Kentucky willl not submit to Federal Authority and take over statehouses in opposition. Then, if Obama sends in Federal troops he will find that the troops in Fort Polk, Fort Hill, and several others will be 'unable' to fullfill the orders except on Federal property. THIS is the WAY! It will send them into a complete tailspin. The Left will be sent back thirty years.

A friend of mine who is a police profiler just described Zinn as just from the first 15min of the show & has not seen Zinns bio yet. Here is the rough over view: 'Howard Zinn is an highly/over educated, maladjusted, over apologetic person who probably came from a tormented background & is more than likely suffering from multiple mental disorders and possible drug addictions, though socially functional. Zinn, more than likely, has violent fits of rage and delusions of grandeur though often is able to control his outbursts when in public. He appeals to people who are themselves narcissistic and believes that they are always right, thus his appeal to Hollywood , socialists & elitist…"
I plan on giving him Zinn's bio after the show, but so far, I think he has him down fairly accurately.

Because of the fact that a large amount of people in this country don't believe in evolution and can't find Iraq on a map, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar amount also don't know much about U.S. history.

I lived on it for eight years in California. Had to get out of Calif, so I ended up in Texas with the boat. My son has it now, and has the same mindset. He is currently in Georgia.
FYI, the only asset you can really own is a boat….everything else, your car, your house, your property, all are rented to you. If you don't pay the taxes, all will be seized by some government. Ah, but if you own a boat (sailboat preferably) you can just sail away with your own \”country\” on the sea. (sounds romantic, doesn't it?). The fuel is free and you can go anywhere you wish. Since there isn't a 911 at sea, that is why I loaded up with weapons.
You are doing the next best thing. May God be with you.
