Press #1 for Reverse Logic
by Derek BroesIf you call 411 or customer service for almost any service-related company today, you’re greeted with, “Thank you for calling. Press #1 to continue in English.” Excuse me, but when did English cease being the default language in this country? And this is just one of the politically correct or (PC) aspects invading our culture and stifling free speech.
Today, PC attacks are the foundation of the left’s approach to politics and policy. Examples are everywhere. If you didn’t vote for Obama you’re racist, if you oppose gay marriage you’re homophobic, and if you voted for Bush or McCain — according to Janeane Garofalo — you’re an anti-intellectual a**hole (and she said this in such an intellectual way, too).
This is where we have failed and where the left has succeeded. Conservatives ideas are simply branded as politically incorrect and when we fear a backlash to speak up about Obama releasing a terrorist who killed American soldiers, we have not only lost all intellectual thinking, we have all but surrendered the US to whoever might want to destroy it.
The left also brands conservatives as idiots and have done such a good job that today Garofalo is seen as an intellect while Brit Hume is labelled a bible thumping, gun toting, war mongering idiot. Even the framers of our Constitution have been branded as irrelevant. Today, believing in and standing upon our Constitution is viewed as “out of touch.”
Have we all gone mad?
Stupidity is seen as smart, capitalism is a failed system regardless of it being the most successful in history, socialism is great even though it’s proven to fail every time, and Obama is a genius for doing the same thing Bush was hated for in building big government and massive spending.
So what is political correctness?
Political correctness is much more than simply being sensitive to those around us. In fact, it’s a Marxist strategy that sought to make Communism easier for free people to digest. The idea is to slowly make popular thinking unpopular and unpopular thinking popular. The scourge of PC destroys free speech which is okay with the left because they know that their goal of Socialism and then Communism can ultimately be accomplished through these means.
In their world It’s okay to be intolerant as long as you’re intolerant towards Christians, and it’s acceptable to hate as long as you’re hating conservatives. Dissent is patriotic when you’re protesting a Republican but you’re a radical, or worse, a racist radical) if you show dissent for Obama’s radical policies.
This reverse logic is outlined by Alan Keyes, who recently said that Obama’s economic policy is tantamount to a “bankrupt government trying to bailout a bankrupt banking system.” He’s absolutely correct but yet he’s been called a radical for saying so.
This is just one example of how PC is used to damn logical thinking, and this epidemic is not something that happens accidentally.
So the next time you dial 411 and are asked to press #1 for English, being angry doesn’t mean you’re racist, it simply means you’ve not fallen victim, like so many others, to PC indoctrination.
I do fear if this kind of action continues, we won’t be debating this in blogs or on Facebook. It will be on a battlefield near you when the ability to turn off the TV, close the web page or delete an unwelcome opinion in your email will be stripped away.
For an amazing look at the history of political correctness, please watch this video.

You've visited my college campus, haven't you? Every liberal I have ever met never misses a chance to call a Christian a hypocrite. You try to turn their own argument against themselves and they just end up calling you names. Liberals are so for equality, aren't they?
PC stifles all forms of rational debate in this country. If conservatives ever want to regain control of the federal government, they must ignore all forms of political correctness, just tell it like it is.
Had a black woman at work ask "why does Alan Keyes hate who he is?" Just because Keyes has the guts to criticize Obama. Unless you walk the company line your own race will turn on you.
Seeing Garofalo as an intellect, is like seeing William F. Buckley as an illiterate.
You're right when you say we have failed. Republicans will not gain solid footing again until a concerted effort is made by Republicans to challenge the 'conventional wisdoms' that have been rooted in society for a long time.
Party of the rich
Angry white men
Racist
Heartless
War lovers
Most people vote based on extraordinarily little knowledge. The sound bytes of the left – in the media, the teachings of the left in shcools and hollywood starlets dictate the results.
We need to effectively coordinate sustained campaigns that spread the truth.
Given the challenge that the opposing side coupled with the mush minds of the general population, it has always amazed me that ANY republican ever gets elected.
Who is actually behind the decisions something is not PC and therefore unlawful.
If, for instance, some one says he's offended by the word crusade is the person using the word compelled by law to discontinue its use?
Are we merely being brainwashed in to thinking there are penalties for not being PC? If we ignore the offended person are we likely to suffer from law?
when i call a number and have to push the button for engliis i usually get pretty po'd so im glad you wrote this. my daughter ive made sure not to indoctrinate into the culture of pc. my advice is to just hang up when it make syou push 1 to english.
Why is it that after I press 1 for English, I still can’t understand the person on the other end?
Today, believing in and standing upon our Constitution is viewed as “out of touch.”
Actually, standing upon our Constitution is all the rage these days, as long as that Constitution is the twisted and distorted version that the left has crafted in their minds, in which the First Amendment outlaws prayer in public schools, the Second Amendment is irrelevant, and somewhere in there it says we're entitled to universal health care.
What is viewed as "out of touch" is the Declaration of Independence, a document that President Lincoln wisely saw as an important and eloquent expression of the ideals of classical liberalism and Lockean enlightenment upon which this country is founded. The ideas that all men are created equal, not made equal by the state, and that government is an entity fully subject to the consent of the people, not the nanny of the nation. These are what as seen as "out of touch."
Absolutely correct, nice article. The left's ideas have failed time and time again and they know that people won't accept their ideas. So the only way to get people to accept these failed ideas is to make those who would opposed them into thought-criminals. It's an old tactic right out of the 1930s in Germany and Russia and Eastern Europe right after the war. Totally totalitarian.
I've started not pressing #1. The Mexican person usually answers faster, (and speaks English too) than the English speaking one and invariably connects me immediately to the department I require.
That's just another tactic. You take historical documents or figures and you co-opt the ones you can and you denigrate the rest. Have you noticed how the left is trying to steal Lincoln right now? Watch, in five years you'll find lots of people who think he was a Democrat.
What ever happened to the words – fairplay or content of character? Only one word comes to mind – mendacity. There is no logic to this new thinking, and worse, without dialogue or searching for common ground, there is no way to correct the course. It's their way or the highway, and we just sit there, smile and take it.
We are writing new history here, and I don't think I like this chapter.
I've said this before and will say it again, I HATE political correctness and the politics of identity. My theory as to why the theater world, IN GENERAL, invested so much energy bashing 'those flyover puritanical breeders' was due to the burdensome influence of politically correct identity politics invading free and creative expression, ie., the safest and easiest targets are those who do not exist in politically identifiable groupings. In doing so however they've now locked themselves inside their own self-created tyranny.
Of course this dreadful phenomenon now exists in every aspect of American life from corporate to education and even to some extent now in religion imposed by the hideous nature of 'sensitivity training classes'. I pointed out the theater since it was the world I experienced. Prior to the 9/11 attack on America I was far too narcissistic to notice but it became more apparent after I expressed something quite innocuous yet was disagreeable to the groupthink after which I experienced the full wrath for non-compliance.
That, as well as, meeting a man who stated something which startled me to the point where I could no longer remain inside the myopic and provincial black box known as the theater; he startled me with his admission that he was not gay, he was a homosexual who was over the rainbow and wanted his life back; he opened my mind to many things I had never known in my good little PC girl world. Then I began to see how horribly blacks, females, homosexuals who rejected the politically correct politics of identity because their ideals were too diverse for the groupthink to tolerate were treated; I mean black-facing Michael Steele or calling Condolezza Rice an Aunt Jemima lackey for the white man? Outing homosexuals if they're Republican? Don't even start on the treatment of Gov Palin (that was some sick stuff)
I was not a Conservative for most of my life however it was the extremeness of this politics of identity which drove me as far as I could run away from the brain-dead liberalism(Mamet does have a way with words) I once lived; Liberalism was no longer Liberal when it reach the point of imposing illiberal 'sensitive training classes'.
And the strange thing is, most who consider themselves Liberal do not see this obvious contradiction.
That's why they call themselves "progressive." In the classic definition of Liberal, the Founding Fathers were liberals. The left knows they no longer embody the true definition of "liberal" so they migrate to "progressive," which we all know just means fascist/socialist wanna-be.
Speeking of political correctness, where are our trolls? Must be a shift change at the old HufPo Counter Intelligence Unit.
And they just hate it when you bring up George Wallace, or the founders of the KKK.
Great post, Derek. I'm glad to see the link to 'The History of Political Correctness' which is an excellent video and IMAO should be required viewing by high school students all across this country.
Political Correctness = Death
Modern liberals have been playing this game for decades. First, they called themselves populists (1820-1860) until that became a dirty word. So they started calling themselves progressives (1870-1890s), until that became a dirty word. Then they started calling themselves socialists (1900-1945), until they polluted that one too. Then they tried to steal the word "liberal" (1950-1980), until they polluted that one as well. Right now they're struggling to find a new word.
I hate the term "politically correct", as it gives too much credibility to the ideas it masks. There's usually nothing correct about them. I prefer "Politically Fashionable" as it more clearly captures the shallowness of those espousing this inane nonsense.
Absolutely, one of the benefits of re-writing history is that you always get to disavow your own people when they embarass you.
"Douchebag" would work.
Why wait 5 years to ask? I bet a good majority of the public already believes it. I remember seeing several interviews of people just after Obama won and they didn't even know who controlled Congress. Heck, they didn't know who Nancy Pelosi was but they knew all about Sarah Palin and her pregnant daughter. It's scary how uneducated people are. I had a conversation with a kool-aid drinker prior to the election and she just had stars in her eyes and no idea who she was voting for.
Trolls must be on lunch. I mean, it IS a union house. Has to be , right?
BTW, great piece, Derek
that is it an awesome comment! so true! joseph stalin did thing kind of thign. anyday now they are going to start executing us in our hoems becuase we dont believe that stuff
Seems like each new president is part of a cycle.
A democrat promises to fix all the problems in the country, and to bring hope change and peace to the world. The news media jumps on board to help sell this candidate like the shills they are.
Democrat gets elected, wrecks the country. The news media looks for any bit of scandal in the president's personal life and exploits it for ratings.
The general populace gets so fed up that they ignore the media and elect a republican, hoping that things will actually be done correctly.
The media rips on the republican president on an hourly basis, every hour, every day, every year, every term, until the president's approval rating is insanely low. A democrat becomes the next president and the cycle begins again.
Liberals actually believe that being a Liberal is what makes them "open minded". No further consideration of an opponent's viewpoint is required. I am a Liberal, being a Liberal is open-minded, ergo I am open-minded. End of story, you racist.
They also think that merely believing Liberal thoughts makes them "compassionate" (notice how stingy they are with their charitable donations). Yeah, giving away other people's money is so compassionate.
I have pushed "1" for English and still couldn't understand the person on the other end.
Ironically, the left fails to see that by inculcating the population to political correctness, they are killing the one thing they hold so dear in the Constitution – freedom of speech. It only takes one unfortunate utterance to turn a dyed-in-the-wool liberal into a slobbering apologist for a slip of the tongue — just ask Michael Richards who will always be known for his Laugh Factory outburst. Now I don't condone Richards' comments there, but you can bet your arse he doesn't speak without considering the ramifications and possible repercussions of every single word he says in public.
Union house! LOL!!
It is not that they are uneducated. It is that they really do not care enough to get more than a 5 second sound byte. And people believe what they want to believe. The sound bytes just reinforces what they already want to believe. I know some very educated people that bought the Sarah Palin stories hook line and sinker. They admittedly did not want to take the time to learn the truth because they had already made up their minds.
Yeah, they've been after Lincoln for a long time now. He's the only Republican president that the left will celebrate, and that's because they are so entrenched in their fabricated identity of unsurpassed pluralism and tolerance that they are certain no true Republican could ever have wanted to give blacks equal rights. Despite Lincoln's beliefs in classical liberalism and peace through strength (not to mention a record of wartime suspension of rights that makes Bush look like a lightweight), a lot of people are probably convinced that, were he alive today, he would've pulled the lever for Obama.
Well spoken. By the way, a white man killed Malcolm X, OJ was framed and Michael Jackson is a role model. Alan Keyes, Condaleeza Rice, Bill Cosby, MIchael Steele are only Oreos. I cannpt believe that the left turns their back on some of the most brilliant AMERICANS (notice no hyphen) to ever pursue and hold office. Opal Windbag is the preferred person–I did not know the Messiah was black until she told me. Wow! am I dumb. I owe no one nothing for the sins of my fathers. I'm sorry life dealt you the short hand, but you villify the very institution that supported you. The liberals in Congress are today's "Massas." If you do not believe it minority America, cross the threshold of these people's discontent—-THEY WILL ATTEMPT TO CRUSH YOU in every way possible.
I don't think you understand how "push one to continue in english" applies to the larger theme of these anti americans using any means necessary to divide us and destroy our nation. As with all PC nonsense, this is just another tactic to weaken the only nation that can prevent the worldwide feudalism otherwise known as socialism.
The point is that the default should be English, and if you want Spanish, then you should have to hit a key for an option. Yeah, bigger things to worry about in the world, but it's the fact that we have to "choose" English when we shouldn't have to.
Vic
Given the challenge that the opposing side coupled with the mush minds of the general population, it has always amazed me that ANY republican ever gets elected.
Could just one of you explain why you hate America so much?
And may I also note that conservatism & Christianity are choices that one makes. If you choose to walk down the street screaming idiocies at the top of your voice, I can choose to make fun of you based on those actions.
You're the ones who have "branded" your party as the party of the rich, racist old men who are for war as the first solution to everything, & are heartless. You've done this by your words & actions. And the statistics back it up. You are a bunch of old bitter white people who are scared of change.
If having to push a button to indicate your language preference can actually weaken the nation, then it was too weak to last anyway. I happen to disagree with that logic. We are a lot stronger than an additional push of a button.
when i call a number and have to push the button for engliis i usually get pretty po'd so im glad you wrote this. my daughter ive made sure not to indoctrinate into the culture of pc. my advice is to just hang up when it make syou push 1 to english.
Obviously, because whatever language you speak, it certainly isn't English. Gosh, why is it that there are always so many more semi-literate posts on Right Wing sites? You all got that great, "non-PC" home-schooling, didn't you? And the general population are supposed to be "mush minds." What does that make a mind like the one that typed what I pasted above?
I could see that point if we actually had an official language. We don't. The default should be whatever the business decides it should be. It's their phone line, their automated system, their decision. They are just asking you to choose your language preference. I like having as many choices as possible, so I guess this one doesn't bother me. I get ticked when, just because of my last name, I get junk mail in Spanish. In that case, the business soliciting me made the decision for me, so I make teh chouice to not do business with them.

Ahhh … The Huffington Post Counterinsurgency Team has finally shown up. You're late. Is everything okay? Was there a meeting? You need to reach out or anything?
what statistics?
now that's funny!
side note: If you do not press a number you will be connected as if you had pressed #1. There is a slight delay while the system waits for you to press a button but it will connect you. Try it next time.
The phone tree systems provide companies with statistics on how calls were routed so they can better configure their systems and see what their customers are calling for. I read that 20-30% of callers do not select a language. Companies are out to make money and they do not want to offend or loose a customer. They have you select a language to route calls quicker which reduces the amount of time a person spends on the phone.
I have started to notice when calling several companies the opening messages says "Welcome to companyname" immediately followed in spanish "press # for spanish" so you are never asked to press #1 for english. If enough people do not press #1, the systems will eventually be reprogrammed to only ask non english speaking customers to select a language.
Oh come on now. We don't have an official language? Just because taxpayer dollars haven't been wasted in Congress passing legislature stating the English is in fact the official language, of course it is. You're being ingenuous if you're saying it's not. It's been the language of the U.S. for over 200 years.
BTW, my personal favorite is Hispanic spam calls to my cell phone…
Regards,
Vic
Oh, and I do agree that the business can choose what it likes, but we're not talking about the corner market down the street.
Some companies, like the one I work for, store your previous selection, so you don't have to choose once you punch in your account number…but that alone is too much for some people to handle.
They were trying to figure out how to set the DVR to record President Hopey's sermon tonight.
id liek to see you raise a daughter in this country under this president, going to a school where they cant even say the pledge of allegiance and then well see. i didnt' get to go to college becuase i was too busy cleaning apartments so my duaghter had a home to live in and structure to follow. i'm proud to be an american and work for my country and bring my daughter up in an environment of true respectd not what passes for respect under liberal pc-isms. my mispelling does not mean that i am semi-literate but your post mens that you are unamerickan
Ranger, you and kid are absolutely right. PC is killing America, and the Democrats are keeping minorities on the plantation.
As a Conservative political artist, I deal with my own set of obstacles, but the mindset behind it is the same. Open-mindedness and diversity of opinion only apply to Liberals. Conservatives are expected to shut up and pay the bills.
If you are going to quote somebody, actually quote them. Don't twist it around to serve your own views. You act like a typical liberal. Like I said to another person, If you aren't going to constructively contribute to the BH community don't contribute at all please. I have no porblem with people of other political persuasions as long you make sound reasoned arguments and can take criticism without whining to your mother. Most of you liberals are incapable of that.
I went to art school, so I know your pain. My American History class was painful.
Don't be discouraged. I have met a lot of college aged Conservatives online and at a couple of my art shows. We're out there, and we're mad.We just have to get organized. I'm not in college anymore, but I am a political artist, so I deal with hypocrisy from the art community now.
Liberals always attack people on a personal level when they disagree. It is nearly impossible to find someone who can have a reasoned debate. It is time for us to stand up for ourselves and take our culture back.
I am currently working on a project to find and promote myself and fellow conservative artists. We can do this, but it will take supporting one another and spreading the word.
Good luck!
does it matter if it's the corner market or a large corporation?
It's been the most commonly used language in the US, but not THE language, as you seem to indicate.
Sigh. Splitting hairs, semantics, whatever you want to call it.
http://capwiz.com/proenglish/issues/
ProEnglish is the nation's leading advocate of official English.
I wish I had the ability to press 1 for English at some fast food restaurants.
I would have to disagree with earlier posts about it being lazy or silly for not wanting to select a language. I believe the angst people have about choosing a language reflects their frustrations on many issues they feel powerless over. Business and government in their effort to be helpful or efficient are in a sense encouraging divisions. I have lived in a country with two official languages, the languages created and encouraged two separate societies which maintained constant conflict over jobs, resources, political power. Think of all the time we spend in this country trying to understand each others race/religion, now image trying to understand one another when we speak different languages, where we can't comprehend each others opinions or points of view. I believe not demanding a common language is a crack in out society, a crack which weakens us and if ignored or encouraged will only lead to division. "A house divided…cannot stand", someone once said. I may be insignificant or seem silly but
I choose not to press one.
You are so right! I grow so tiresome of trying to debate with liberals. All I get is name calling in return, are there any out there that can give you concrete evidence instead of emotional stories?
Yes, but they are few and far between. It takes a lot of patience and understanding. I have some very good Liberal friends, but we also have a clear understanding.Anything they say can and likely will end up in a painting one day. It's hard to be understanding and not get angry. I am human after all.
I know exactly what you're talking about. This woman my husband works with, PhD no less, was one of those people circulating one of those hateful, lie-filled emails about Sarah Palin. It didn't matter how much of it you could factually debunk, she wanted to believe it and wouldn't hear a word to the contrary.
I don't suppose you'd get away with saying, "I'm so glad I'm not black (or gay). This way I get to disagree with people without hating myself."
There's just a tiny bit of that when you're female. Case in point, the "not a woman" hate fest directed at Palin… but it's just a tiny bit because the fact that they try doesn't mean that we buy it. It's probably harder to ignore if you belong to a group that is less that just over half of the human population.
You know… I don't get PO'd over getting asked to choose English. I get PO'd at having to listen to a recording and enter choices.
It's really not as bad as it used to be, even if I still get just as pissed about it.
When my kids were little I was on the phone going through one of those long drawn out decision trees, many steps to it, and my middle daughter tripped and tore her knee open on the fireplace and I'm all "Hush, hang on… " because there was no way I wanted to have to start over, because we were headed out of the house. Her older sister wrapped her knee in paper towels playing doctor and she stopped crying so I didn't notice until we got to the park that blue cartilage showed through the tear. THAT's how bad those stupid recordings used to be.
actually about the whole deal with pushing 1 for english, the rest of the message will then proceed to say "for [other language] press 2" in spanish or depending on what other languages are available
I don't blame a company for wanting to provide multilingual services, just as long as no one expects me to be multilingual
I'm annoyed by the delay. It's just that most often, that's what the delay is about.
Sort and sweet.
Keeper
Short…duh
The reason why is that ideology always trumps race. It also trumps religion, btw. It's why millions of black Christians who hate abortion and consider homosexuality a sin nonetheless vote lockstep for the party that supports both. People think that religious beliefs are the most core beliefs that a person will have, but in America ideology IS the true religion.
Has any other society ever done this? That would make an interesting sociology study.
I find it a minor annoyance. But the point being made is that English should be the DEFAULT, and should not require the caller to push anything to hear the national language. I speak English, German (my native tongue, though only as a small child), Spanish and French. I have to push 1 to get English, and I can't get German or French no matter which number I push. It's nice to be comfortable in another language, but in public discourse (other than targeted ethnic markets and emergency services) the only language should be English. And in most cases, if you haven't learned to speak English, tough luck.
What do you mean? That's an exact copy of everything that person typed. Perhaps if your reading skills improve, you'll be able to contribute something here.
By the way, my mother's dead, & I was never in the habit of whining to her.
By the way, your misspelling & odd syntax mean exactly that, you are semi-literate. Really, what does saying the pledge of allegiance have to do w/ anything? The Nazis & the Commies were real big on swearing oaths & allegiance. The public displays of super-nationalism are always strongest in the weakest nations.
Also: Who calls 411 any more?
And more power to Latino4Liberty for standing up for the free market & businesses doing anything they want!
The statistics of the mind… (plays erie music)
And they brought the A-Team obviously. I don't think I've ever seen such a barrage of great points, strung together like a rare poem of great significance. Consider me impressed!
And let's not forget impotent.
It is amazing what some people can make themselves believe when their whole world view comes into question. It's pretty scary too. What's even worse, there are people who are very good at exploiting that facet of human nature… Nigerian scammers, dictators, Democrats…
They need him because his being a Republican endangers their stranglehold on the black community. Also, he's routinely listed as one of the top presidents, so they'd like to take him away from us. They'll probably try the same thing with Reagan after those of us who remember are long gone.
I disagree with you on this one. If I have a business in an area where there is more than one language spoken, I am going to have recordings in those languages, otherwise the people who speak only those languages will go somewhere else.
I do say we need ONE national language, and it WILL we English.
I was just proud that I made it through the 22 min. video w/o barfing. It makes me wonder how the most narrow-minded of us, want to view themselves as the most enlightened or progressive among us. Seriously, after the age of 22 or so, how could that be justified in your mind?
Businesses offer service in other languages because they want as many customers as they can get. Their motive is profit, not "Politically Correctness". And since they're doing this voluntariy, there are no free speech issues invlved.
This is so obvious, I'm embarrassed to have to point it out to you..
But this whole thing started with something that could only be described as the reaction of an angry white man. You have to press 1 for English because not everyone speaks english, and they want to be able to serve as many of their customers as possible. It's about undermining some core value, it's because it's practical. The reason this party is seen as the things listed above is because that's who it's represented by. Awful, hateful people like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh.
Excellent article, Derek! This remains a valid argument. Most have already accepted PC as benign without serious criticism, of course, even me
PC is a big manipulation machine with an incredible persistence to automate the common thought of society (we still think different, but not incorrect, at home). PC's agenda is darker I fear than the good intentions most have thought it probably good to participate in. I think that PC holds much more inside its discrete agenda than making us feel like it's just really a nice thing to do. (The right things still do feel right, right?) Ironically, PC calls out intolerance while it seeks out to nullify compassion. (Don't know about you, but the most compassionate people I know are those who have also been the most critical of others, God bless you Eva B!)
I believe we must remain critical towards others in such a way that respectfully distinguishes strong differences without disseminating hate. PC would rather just ignore it altogether, not because it's lazy (cuz it's not), but to tell you that you can't so it can then tell you how.
Watch the video guys. And keep up the good, correct fight Derek! Boo-yah!
[...] A confirming view from Big Hollywood. [...]
I hate PC speech, but I have to say that the complaining about pushing 1 button for English is geting tiresome. Don't let my screen name fool you, English is my primary language, and my Spanish is limited to interaction with family members. But is it really that big of a deal to have to push a button to indicate your language preference? It sounds so lazy and there are much bigger things to complain about. I can see if you're going through the drive through, and the person on the other end can't speak English…that ticks me off too.
Plus, you are complaining about a business that is just trying to accomodate all of their customers. It's not about being PC or trying to indoctrinate people…it's just a good business decision to please as many customers as possible. But go ahead and keep hanging up if it bothers you that much. That just means there are less people in the queue, which means a shorter hold time for me.
Notice how stingy they are with their charitable contrinutions…
So true… What should be done is that we should reduce our charitable contributions dollar for dollar with the tax increases.
Hey why do we even need charitable contrinutions???
Doesn't the gument feed the starving, cloth the naked, shelter the homeless???
Great video!

It's so funny how republicans complain about liberals being PC, yet are outraged if anyone criticizes their views. The irony is baffling.
I’d like to introduce you to the beliefs of a certain group of leaders in our congress and senate. The PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS (DEMOCRATIC) (PC-D)
The following is a direct quote from the website: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.a...
“Until 1999 the PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS worked in open partnership with DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA. After the press reported on this link, the connections suddenly vanished from both organizations' websites.
The PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS is an organization of Members of Congress founded in 1991 by newly-elected House Representative Bernie Sanders (Independent-Vermont), the former mayor of Burlington and a member of the DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA (DSA), which describes itself as "THE PRINCIPAL U.S. AFFILIATE OF THE SOCIALIST INTERNATIONAL."
As of April 2007, the PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS included Sanders (who became a U.S. Senator in 2006), Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, and 69 members of the House of Representatives, all of them leftist Democrats and almost all in districts heavily gerrymandered to guarantee the re-election of any Democratic Party incumbent, no matter how extreme.”
Continued from: http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.a... November 11, 1999, the Progressive Caucus drafted its POSITION PAPER ON ECONOMIC INEQUALITY. It reads, in part, as follows: "Economic inequality is the result of two and a half decades of government policies and rules governing the economy being tilted in favor of large asset owners at the expense of wage earners. Tax policy, trade policy, monetary policy, government regulations and other rules have reflected this pro-investor bias. We propose the introduction or reintroduction of a package of legislative initiatives that will close America's economic divide and address both income and wealth disparities. … The concentration of wealth is a problem because it distorts our democracy, destabilizes the economy and erodes our social and cultural fabric."____For more information about the beliefs of some members of the senate and congress and the agenda they follow, go to:____http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.a... an up to date list of senate and congress members of the PROGRESSIVE CAUCUS go to the following website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Progre...

That's because the English speaker is in India…
"Open-mindedness and diversity of opinion only apply to Liberals." True
It is open mindedness that has lead to a tiny little peep hole of thought from the left. Their open mindedness has grown to encompass so many strange and obscene things that most Democrats can't truly wrap their heads around all of it.
I feel that conservatives are on a sliding scale between "moderate" to "right wing nut cases." Conservatives do, however, all hold a basic foundation of values but to different degrees and extremes.
Liberals on the other hand are more like a root system of ideas and ideologies with the unending branches and twist and turns. This is where "open minds" start to come into conflict. The path that lead to one silly idea is to far a distance for the next silly idea to grasp. Then the self righteous debate begins, but the only common ground they have are their hate for Bushes. (sorry for the pun) The argument then turns to who is helping who the most and which noble cause better lifts up those they have deemed can not do it on their own. It almost smacks of a players handicap on a golf course.
Diversity of opinion mainly hangs on the ultimate collegiate catch phrase; diversity. Diversity is some strange untenable position of newness that has never been experienced until college. Before I started my higher education I was completely unaware of any other skin type/race….. How silly a concept.
The left doesn't want to empower black people, through personal responsibility by acknowledging that white people simply accept that most cultures in the US are different than the broad stroke of white cultures, no they insinuate inferior. They (libs) want to remind them that they are different than whites and victims of white societies discrimination towards them.
What a load of self serving crap.
Truth to power.
I couldn't agree more although quite a few people will have to start to rethink how they think. The liberal education system plays a dynamic role in molding the PC ideology.
The irony of the situation is that the victims have all been taught to speak their minds while, the evil conservatives have been trained not to.
Not to mention the Jewish community supporting the party that wants to be more understanding of Muslim fanatics that want them wiped off the earth.
I don't think any other society has tried to be so progressive that it progresses past the point of rationality.
Perhaps the Dodo bird might better represent our rampant disregard for personal safety at all costs.
And if you had to press 1 because you were black, what type of reaction would you get from the black community. Surely not anger or the mantra of racism, no black people would happily push that button and Rev. Jackson would stay quiet.
Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are the two people that are not PC within the conservative party, that's why you refer to them as awful, hateful people. It's that exact liberal conditioning that the article was about. They have their not so politically correct opinions and boom demonized. Did you read the article?
Political Correctness has nothing to do with actual law and everything to do with convoluted social norms.
You are right though it is brain washing in grades K-12 and reinforced through out college.
Here is an easy way to discern the difference, you have freedom of speech it's granted to you by the constitution.
Walk onto any state college campus and declare at the top of your lungs in the middle of their quad that Jesus was a hateful person who taught others to hate.
Then do the same thing another day but this time use the word Mohammad instead of Jesus there will be a significant difference in the social reaction.
I have to question the less than subtle mockery, however, nice try.
Excuse me sir are you insinuating that it wasn't racist Republicans that tried to keep the black man down…..How dare you……point out the truth that the Democratic party in the south was against the civil rights movement in full force. Truth monger!
That will never happen I was informed recently that Democrats are more than capable of fact finding on their own. I don't remember the individuals name nor is it worth looking for, however, unnamed individual explained to me why Palin lost her run for Presidency.
I think many Republicans spend too much time worrying about what the Left thinks about what they say and do. Who cares? Continue to speak out for what you believe in and the heck with political correctness. And as far as those annoying customer service numbers, just keep pressing "0." You'll get to a real-live person, eventually.

PC didn't start with or because of angry white men. The earliest examples I can think of, and I'm sure it was before that, are calling handicapped people as "handy capable." Blindness became sight challenged. It was all word play being attempted to somehow show compassion for others that did little besides giving the speaker a feeling of moral superiority.
What isn't taken into account with the PC crowd is that the new words and phrases soon take on the stigma of the old. Words exist to describe things. The PC crowd doesn't want to change perception, but just change the words so as to move on to a new good deed.
Political Correctness can be summed up with this simple definition; it is the misguided belief that a turd can be picked up by the clean end.
WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
