Nice
I see you're still working that "criminalizes those who oppose him" vein, not that you're paranoid. One might ask, if that's the case, why you're not in jail, for instance. It's not as if the DOJ couldn't gin up a very credible crimes-against-art charge…
Mr Muir—Obamanobi! Hilarous! So much truth in such a small space. Obama is starting to make George Bush look like a neophyte. He is a serious, old school politician. Just goes to show it's all about being liked. If the people like you 'stuff' gets overlooked. If the people don't like you even acts of charity are criticized. Charismatic identity politics at its worst.
You are the best thing going in the cartoon game; bravo!
Nothing at all to do with DOJ and everything to do with the IRS, a la The Untouchables; or for a more recent reference, the Clinton administration retaliation against those who dared speak out, including Gennifer Flowers, Liz Ward Gracen, Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, fired White House Travel Office Director Billy Dale, and Judicial Watch's Larry Klayman.
Shall I go on?
Sorry, forgot to mention massive props to Chris, coffee out of nose laugh.
Cheers, Frank
All hail the empire.
If Obama is running the 'rebellion' and the light side of the force, I'm all for the Dark Side of the Force.
Still allergic to actual jokes, I see.
What do you do, put Fox Talking Points (TM) in a hat, pick a movie at random, then sprinkle them in?
"Doonesbury" is leftist, to be sure, but you should study that strip to see it is possible to fit a joke or actual comic premise while making your pedantic Political Point Du Jour.
(And no, "Mallard Fillmore" should not be your comic inspiration.)
WOW! Doonesbury is carrying the water for Obama. In todays 'funny' strip, Mike reads the paper and everything is perfect because of Obama! Garry Trudeau is worshiping at the alter of THE ONE. Just like all the other iconoclastic entertainers!
It's not that a comic strip isn't allowed to have a political slant, or even an extreme one, but if you look at, say, Doonesbury over a period of time, you'll see actually…jokes. Puns. Some funny dialogue. The occasional bit of wit. Something, anything.
Even though Doonesbury isn't as sharp as it used to be (the strips been around 35 years, after all), it's not just a mindless recitation of talking points.
This site is about the right trying to get back into pop culture, and comedy has been one of their traditional weak points ("American Carol," anyone? Anyone?) Conservative humorists just can't bray out "teleprompter" and then act all surprised when people don't laugh.
Wow. That's absolutely not what that Doonesbury strip was about at all.
Not saying it was hilarious, but it had NOTHING to do with Obama, and the joke was it was Mike's DAYDREAM. His ANNUAL daydream, which means he's had it before–you know, before anyone even knew who Obama was.
But hey– Obama's Everywhere! He and ACORN can go back in time!
FunnyStuff has No Ha Ha; they sound one and the same.
Remember, no TOTUS, no POTUS. (and I didn't even have to say "teleprompter.")
Yeah, I think Mr Muir is more into social commentary and political satire through a graphic medium using the movies as his background. I wouldn't call what he does a 'comic strip' anymore than I would call Watchman a 'comic strip'.
I have to agree with the Doonesbury comments – I oppose everything Trudeau says in his strip, but it's structured in a way that reveals characters and makes jokes. This is another almost random collection of panels ending with no punch line and leaving the reader without anything for his effort.
Muir's heart is definitely in the right place but maybe he needs a writer to help flesh out the 'comic' part.
Very cool!
This strip is like that hippie comic strip by that old dude from Canada, except instead of being stupid, it's funny. You know, the one where everyone has long tubular noses. Dang, it's going to bug me all night if I don't remember the name of it.
Is there a really bad strip called 'Trudeau'? Ack, you're making my brain hurt just trying to figure out who to compare you to, Mr. Muir.
DOONESBURY! (apologies for spelling) That's the strip that this is much better than. That was going to bug me all night. Day by Day is much better than Doonesbury. Also, it's a pretty good song!
"I see you're still working that "criminalizes those who oppose him" vein, not that you're paranoid. One might ask, if that's the case, why you're not in jail, for instance. It's not as if the DOJ couldn't gin up a very credible crimes-against-art charge…"
I had the same question when the Left was screaming that Bush was a fascist running a police state.
If you don't find it funny. That's fine. You don't have to read it.
obamanobi – priceless!
The truth hurts, yes?
