Hollywood And Media Forget Half The Nation
by Chris MuirI must confess to enjoying this election cycle; wherein Democrats (a party whose platform is unabashedly liberal) have jettisoned the bothersome linearity of doing what one says in favor of saying what one does to a degree that makes the stiff segues to falsehoods by politicians past seem positively glacial. This distinction between theory and application seems, these days, to be minimal and without risk. Perhaps it saves them energy, not actually doing what they say. Very Green of them, very Kyoto-ish.
And yet, their promises hang on awkwardly out there in the Internet, in Google Caches of Shame, forever contradicting their (lack of) action. You would expect some embarrassment on their part; you would be wrong. Blagojevich and his hair is out there jogging with a smile (have you ever seen a jogger smiling?) and when confronted with a media question that actually isn’t rhetorical, Hillary goes into her I-see-into-the-back-of-your-skull® look. And Reid, poor fellow, twists the English language into merely horrific shapes to explain himself.
Obama surely must be the ne plus ultra example here, a man reflecting back whatever the voter wishes to see, despite Obama’s record of…well, his record of…something.
It’s not like Republicans are exempt; they too have played their roles. It took the Democrats’ 2 trillion dollar bailout to finally eclipse the Good Ol’ Profligate Party’s spending record after 8 years.
Anyway, I suppose we have a media of sorts to point out such unkept promises – and when I say “of sorts,” I mean hardly at all. The media’s last election cycle performance frankly belonged in the Walletjes Red Light district of Amsterdam; but the tipping did help produce a White House occupant.
This approach by the media tends to leave a bit of a gap in reporting for, say, half the nation. Into this same gap has gone the film industry, matching the MSM in outlook. This outlook results in anti-American films like “Redacted,” “Rendition,” and “Lions for Lambs” that directly share the MSM view of America. It’s a free country (still), so go ahead and make your point of view in whatever media form you wish. But expect that other half of the nation to have their say economically and politically.
Today, you can pick your teeth with Time magazine, and as newspapers are finding out, it’s hard to build a Fourth Estate on Fifth columns.

Great Post… I'm still amazed by the lack of intellectual honesty from liberals when it comes to the MSM Obama cheering squad… I can only attribute this to simple stupidity.

Still being distracted by shadows on the wall? The MSM in this country is owned by the same war profiteers you seem to side with. I don’t see what is anti-American about exposed illegal, rogue elements of our government that ends up costing us far more in “blowback.” Consider Operation Ajax. Things like that and our knee-jerk support of Israel has caused more radicalization of the Muslim countries and made it harder for the governments to be secular (and one of the few secular ones – Iraq – we destroy upon Israel’s orders.)
The real people pulling the strings use these mock dichotomes to distract you. The real agenda is to push exactly what they claim, through mouthpieces like the POTUS, they are trying to prevent. They WANT another world war. They gain while the rest of humanity loses.
Blifil, so according to your logic, after 9/11 only 10% of the nation was Democrat/liberal. Approval ratings don’t equal votes. And about those approval ratings, give it about a month or so. Once 57 states and Granny Pelosi get going, well, bring your popcorn.

Indeed! It is strange how the Republican party has morphed into the Democratic party of old. Strong on defense and no entitlement program they didn’t like.

What the liberal MSM don’t seen too understand(even if they are smarter than anybody else-sure)is that half of this great country is conservative and half of their half doesn’t even know which party is in power and don’t buy magazines or newspapers because they get all the news they need from the Daily Show, SNL and Stephen Colbert!
Have you also noticed that liberals, “the movement of peace and tolerace” are the most vile talking group, and they are peaceful and tolerant until you disagree with them and then they go for blood. Another characteristic is that they can’t accept the “truth” even when they know it’s the truth!

Another odd thing about liberals is that they proclaim to be the party of “peace and tolerace”, that is until you disagree with them, then they evolve into the most vile speaking people on the planet. In addition, there must be shortage in their brain to cause them to not accept the truth even when they know it is the truth.
Yo, Chris, nice to see you can write with the same elegance as your lovely cartoons. My dad (WWII vet, turning 81 this year) loves your art and so do I. He’s an old gentleman who loves the female form, and combined with conservative jokes — it’s a slam dunk.
Although I would hope that the main stream media is on the way out, they have proven their might this election cycle. I know lots of young people who voted for Obama and they knew nothing about this empty suit. They voted for what the main stream media presented to them: A bright, intelligent politician who is black. They never heard about his terrorist ties, his defense of infanticide, his corrupt practices.
If we don’t break the spine of the propaganda media and bury it in the dustheap of history along with nazism, communism, and jihadism, this great American experiment will not survive.

I’m still having trouble with the math, too. If 48% of those who cast ballots voted for McCain vs. 52% for Obama, how is that not approximately half of the country? Also, I checked good old Wikipedia, and it sez that landslides are more like 60/40. I understand you must be very excited right now, but let’s not exaggerate.

Actually, that’s exactly what’s right with our country. As much as I loved Bush, it frustrated me to no end that he never stood up to the Democrats when they were bashing him. He tried to do a “new tone” and you can see what it got him: taunts as he left office.
Partisanship is a good thing. You can see the self-evident differences between liberals and conservatives on display right now. When Bush was inaugurated, they egged his limo and he couldn’t even do the traditional walk to the White House. When he leaves, they taunt him. But conservatives don’t behave that way.
Conservatives have to be partisan because SOMEONE must be the adult in the room. Liberals only know how to throw tantrums when they don’t get their way. There is no reasoning with such people; they can only be opposed for the good of the nation.
Trying to make nice with a four-year-old throwing blocks at other kid’s heads doesn’t help anyone. Spanking him helps everyone.
And as an aside, have you ever noticed how the definition of bi-partisan is “When Republicans do what Democrats want” and never “when Democrats do what Republicans want” (which is called “selling out”)? Yeah, that would have nothing to do with our biased media reporting the straight facts.

We, the 48% that did not vote for Obama should, and hopefully, will support his presidency, but make no mistake the 52% that think he will change the world are in for a surprise. Obviously, very few of the 52% are politically or historically astute.
Radical Muslims don’t hate Republicans or conservatives. They hate anyone that is not a Muslim. Half of America thinks Obama will mend our relationship with radical Muslims, when in reality they hate America’s stance on abortion, homosexual rights and pornography. Stances that the Democrats support. We are the Great Satan, to 90% of all Muslims. This election has just solidified that.
Obama (I mean this with genuine sincerity) we’ll be praying for you!!

This whole debate is useless people.. all politicians are crooks and obama is no exception. there is no good side or bad side, they are all the same and this fact has been proven time and time again.
The three reasons obama got into office..
1) bush was such a HUGE failure he destroyed the faith of his party.
2) obama convinced a bunch of dreamy eyed morons in college and elsewhere he was the “change” candidate..
3) No third party stands a chance in this country.. the dems could have run a goat and won.

When I see liberals go onto conservative sites and comment it always make me smile. Because I have left a grand total of zero posts at Huffington, Daily Kos, and MyDD. I think they care alot more about us then we care about them. I guess the thought of a conservative site that dares to place a toe hold in Hollywood is too much to bear.

Politics of Destruction – There is a great video by Evan Sayet speaking at the Heritage Foundation. He explains why liberals think the way they do and describes the convolution with such clarity you will instantly recognize the distorted thinking whenever you see/hear it from then on. Liberal thinking used to scare me but now I have a better understanding. Actually it still scares me but I just understand it better. I have a sister who is so in the tank for Obama and everything liberal. I was better able to be more compassionate after seeing that video.

Until Hollywood makes the movies that glamorize doing the right thing not in the Spike Lee vain we will never advance form half. There has to be the made made that make it “cool” not to have an abortion, not to spit on the flag and not to trash only one side of the issue all of the time. 24 the movie needs to be made now.
