Christian Bashing: A Special Christmas Gift From ‘NCIS’
by Clay JacobsenMy family and I have been big fans of NCIS since it began. So this Christmas break, one afternoon we sat down with my daughter home from college to catch up on the Christmas episodes of both NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles that aired December 15th.
Both shows started with wonderful Christmas flair: NCIS had a couple cutting down their own Christmas tree in a snow covered forest and NCIS: LA had a beautifully decorated downtown street complete with a Salvation Army Santa. Unfortunately the Christmas Spirit in both shows didn’t last through their first commercials.

In the NCIS episode, the couple in the woods found a young white Marine, a Muslim, killed while praying toward Mecca. His father, once a Marine Colonel, retired to become a minister because in his words, “When my wife died, I wanted to be closer to God, now he’s taken my son as well.”
As Gibbs and his team take the forty-eight minutes to figure out who-done-it, the audience is treated with some not so light-handed preaching favoring Islam. At one point, when the father of the killed Marine utters, “God forgive me, and Tom’s God too.” Gibbs responds with, “They are one in the same colonel.” And although I would beg to differ, anybody who watches NCIS knows that whatever Gibbs says is gospel.
Spoiler Alert—don’t read on if you plan to watch the episode and want to be surprised.
It turns out the Marine was murdered by his own brother in what I can only describe as an “Honor Killing.” The ‘Christian’ family was so embarrassed by the son’s conversion to Islam that the brother thought the only recourse he had was to kill him.
Out of all the cultures in the globe where honor killing is a very serious problem, how many have happened in America within a Christian family? Oh yeah—NONE. Is there a verse in the Bible one can point to where the Christian is instructed to kill the offending family member should he or she decide to convert to another religion? I think not.
NCIS, what were you thinking?
And evidently having received the same memo just in time for Christmas, the writers of NCIS: Los Angeles found a way to write into that night’s episode something just as shocking.
Not too long into the Christmas holiday shopping scene, a young Marine’s head is blown off by his cell phone. The likely suspects are all part of an explosive ordinance disposal unit that was attacked by an IUD in Iraq: a mechanic who lost one leg, a man who turned to God after returning home, and a Muslim who’s face was burned badly in the incident.
Spoiler Alert—one of these three suspects ends up strapping a bomb to his chest and attempts to become a suicide bomber. Can you guess which one?
A key clue in the middle of the episode is dust writing in Arabic on a blown-up car’s rear window. “Those who reject our faith and deny our signs shall be companions of hell fire.” At first, LL Cool J’s character attributes the writing to the Koran, Al-Maeda (chapter 5), verse 10.
So, pulling the classic bait-and-switch on the unsuspecting audience where all things point to the Muslim Marine as the culprit, there is suddenly a break in the case. The staff psychologist is given a Bible by the Christian Marine and wow, he finds this passage in Thessalonians, “In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God.” And the case is solved—it’s not the Muslim—it’s the Christian blowing up his fellow Marines.
The scripture is actually 2nd Thessalonians, chapter 2 verse 7 in the King James Version, referring to when Jesus returns to Earth with his angels and brings about the final judgment. It should be noted that in that entire passage there is nothing about the followers of Christ helping out with that vengeance. The Apostle Paul was actually comforting those of the faith that were being persecuted, definitely not telling them to take any vengeance into their own hands. Ah, but I digress.
That small point didn’t seem to matter to the NCIS writers. They just thought it was best to deliver another Christmas present to my family that afternoon—a Christian suicide bomber. And you might ask when was the last time a Christian strapped on a bomb and became a suicide bomber in this country? I think you get the point. All I can say is thank God it was only in the warped writer’s imagination.
These two episodes would have been troubling enough anytime during the year. But to air them back-to-back as their Christmas episodes makes me wonder what agenda the producers had in mind. I have been a fan of both shows and they usually have great scripts. But this day, I was truly disappointed.
How about a New Year’s resolution NCIS? Go back to good story telling and leave the Christian bashing behind for 2010.

They can't go the "Law and Order" route, what will i watch then? My grandparents watch NCIS now because they can't stand the christian bashing in "Law and Order". Oh well there is still old episodes of JAG I can watch.
I never found it necessary to watch either of these shows. Just more fodder for Hollywood to preach to flyover country.
Tell me again how Hollywood is money-driven. In a way I hope these Hollywood fools keep this kind of garbage up, so that then the faster and further their fall will occur, to the betterment of everyone.
I talked about this on another site where the subject of Avatar came up and people mocked me for not watching movies with political themes, implying that I was afraid to hear the opposing point of view. When I finally responded (had a lot on my plate at work that day), I was amused and explained that I don't watch these things out of fear of an opposing point of view. I don't watch them, mainly, because these people hate me. Not disagree with me, literally, they hate me. Secondary to that though, there is another reason, as Nolte would say, the liberal tells. If I had watched the show, I would have picked out the plot line as soon as I saw the Christian and the Muslim. It makes for droll and boring stories. I'd watch these shows despite their hatred toward me if only I could be surprised every now and again. But that's not going to happen, because the only way they could surprise me is if they made the story sympathetic to me and people of the same religious/political/military support cloth.
Females around the globe are suffering under horrendous sexual-apartheid (clitoris sliced-off, honor killings for being raped, are covered head-to-toe to hide the nightly beatings, cannot earn a living, cannot have medical care from male doctors, cannot attend schools, cannot drive cars etc, etc) yet Hollywood continues to shove its collective misogynistic, sexist, bigoted, racist head up its own anal cavity endlessly sniffing its own evil crap towards Christians.
America, along with females from around the world, will be Free to live in Dignity when Hollywood is stone-cold bankrupt in the grave!
yep Brian, they lose me as soon as they present one of these storylines. I simply will not watch anything that brings politics into my living room. I just write that one off as one that is written by a liberal idiot and cross it off the list of acceptable shows.
Females around the globe are suffering under horrendous sexual-apartheid (clitoris sliced-off, honor killings for being raped, are covered head-to-toe to hide the nightly beatings, cannot earn a living, cannot have medical care from male doctors, cannot attend schools, cannot drive cars etc, etc) yet Hollywood continues to shove its collective misogynistic, sexist, bigoted, racist head up its own rectal cavity endlessly sniffing its own evil crap towards Christians.

Thanks for this great article; these episodes really bothered me too. I am going to write to the producers and let them know that they could be ruining a great thing, just like those at Law and Order have done.
I'm with you on the "they hate me" thing. I just have a hard time with folks who say "I hate you, buy my product" – and that seems to be most of Hollywood.
Saw both of these shows the night they aired, and was rather stunned by the similarity in the stories. It's not as if it could have been a surprise that they ran back-to-back.
In the past, NCIS has been pretty straightforward in showing Islamic Terrorists as bad guys.
Made me wonder if perhaps there had been some sort of complaining letter, and these two shows were the response – sort of "there you go, see, we made the Christians the bad guys here, so leave us alone now". It was almost that obvious of a suck-up, so out of step with what they'd been doing in the past. Looked like an extortion payoff to me.
I commented about these episodes in a previous open thread. I agree that this is particularly egregious for the Christmas episodes…in stark contrast to all of the feel-good Christmas episodes JAG used to have. I've noticed, over the past year or so, more liberal tripe finding its way into the NCIS scripts, but I can overlook the occasional comment because I realize that there are a whole lot of different opinions out there, not just mine. Still, I find it unbelievable that Ziva would be so docile with the Muslim chaplain talking about what a peaceful religion Islam is. She should have had a follow-up scene where she mutters under her breath "Tell that to all the teenagers who were killed in pizza parlor bombings…"
It amazes me that people of the conservative persuasion still expect not to be bashed in EVERYTHING television has to offer! Don't we just automatically know that when we sit down in front of our televisions to absorb one of these shows that we are the ones who are going to get smashed in the face? We should know it ! Ding Wake Up!
You have a conversation with one of them and they find out you don't agree with gay marriage, Ding ! You're afraid of gay people or you're a "foot tapper" They find out you believe in the God of the Holy Bible, Ding ? You're a racist nut job with a fondness for guns and KKK rallys. They find out you believe a fetus is a real baby, Ding! You hate women (even if you are one) These people are insane! Literally insane. What do you expect from Hollywood? They've shown us what they're made of so many times..
Who wrote the episode? That is where you start to find out what the motivation for the episodes intent.
Ah, good! Now I can go to network TV not only for my daily instruction in political science, but also lessons in theology.
One-stop info kiosk, what, what?
The power of the media to distort, spin, twist, misinform, and generally and gratuitously foist fever swamp agendas upon us seems limitless, does it not?
I don't know what changed but I think NCIS has jumped the shark this season. It's been one of the few shows that I've made a point of catching new episodes of but that's no longer the case. When they started the power outage episode with the stereotypical MMO player living in his parents' basement I actually turned the television off and went and did something else. I should have turned off the Christmas episode too but it was like watching a train wreck. As for NCIS: LA, I didn't like the pilot crossover they did with NCIS so I haven't bothered to watch it.
Less – interesting thought. On another forum, someone made a comment to the effect of, "Well, if Islamic terrorists are always the bad guys, then it could get a little predictable. Maybe they just wanted to try something else this time."
Now I am NOT defending the episode – simply making an observation.
My question is (since I didn't see the episode), was there any way, given this plotline, that this could've been a good episode? And yes, it was disappoitning that this was presented as the "Christmas episode." If it aired at any other time, perhaps it wouldn't have been as disappointing.
I'd wait and see… it could be an isolated incident, hopefully not the start of a trend.
Oh well. My husband and I always looked forward to the CSI brand and embraced the LA show as well. If this politically correct meme continues, we will move on. Hopefully Gary Sinese will not condone the politicalization of his show. We just want an interesting story that will entertain rather than preach an ideology.
To be fair, both NCIS shows depicted some good Moslems and some bad Americans. I hope none of us commenting here believe that that can never be the case. I'm not quite sure I like the new LA version, but we'll give it another couple of weeks.
If a show has even one overt anti-Americanisms, it's off the DVR even if the show is essentially entertaining. "Numbers" is a case in mind. Judd Hirsch just couldn't resist a jab against the last administration. Most of the network shows didn't even get a chance to demonstrate their virulent hatred of all things American, they are dismissed out of hand.
We miss JAG and the Unit.
DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!………….preach on sister!!!!
Actually, outside of the silly Christian Honor Killing part, the NCIS episode was terrific. Jethro's dad came to visit and we got a lot of great stuff with non-talkers trying to fix their relationship. Dad was acting odd, so we figured it was early Alzheimers and Jethro was gonna have to deal with that. Ducky did a psych eval. Turns out that Dad had saved a couple of girls from getting raped at his store, had to kill the bad guy, and came to Jethro for help in how to deal. There were some good points about guns, doing the right thing, killing the bad guys, father-son-relationships, the whole deal.
Also – I love Pa Walton so it was great!
Not could be, ARE.
I just began watching NCIS, so now I really enjoy the re-runs. I was not particularly offended by the Christian villain. Seems that NCIS gets around to portraying every denomination as possible bad-guy. Still, the timing was suspect.
and it falls so predictably in line with the rest of hollywoods "disdain for fly over country".
The boob tube has gone from merely mind-numbing to flat out evil in the past fifteen years. The networks that produce these shows are on the same death spiral that the "news" industries are on (broadcast and print). There is a barn-sized door open for enterprising creative folk to walk into, using the internet. If we adopt workable methods for capturing enough revenue to survive, conservatives will take over the business just by being fresh and honest. Get creative and go viral.
Andrew is one of those exploring the means.
until now NCSI was about the only non-news show i watched. now there is nothing left worth my time. back to books
i was just starting to watch this show as I heard it was OK. Now I can just turn it off and go back to the food channel. Well for now they did have that idiot Mo Rocca as a judge on iron Chef and they are having Michelle Obama on so they may be deep sixed soon.
I think this goes beyond "liberal tripe." It falls in line with all of the left's predictions of violence from the Tea Party attendees, and anyone else who doesn't roll over for them. If you keep saying a lie long enough you will get a certain percentage of people to believe it. Also, when was the last time this show or any other featured Muslim terrorists during, say, Ramadan? This is carefully orchestrated.
Just checked – Gary Glasberg is our culprit. He's also the one who wrote the episode "Endgame" where DiNozzo made a cheap Sarah Palin comment.
In all of my NCIS watching, that moment, followed by the Christmas episode, stood out to me as instances of bad liberal writing. They are, so far, the only two written by this guy.
Here's hoping that Mr. Glasberg sticks with his producer duties and quits writing.
The touchy-feely Muslim episode is where my wife and I talked about the season thus far and agreed that this year is just missing something and we haven't been enjoying it. Perhaps the writers have been replaced.
I believe it is spelled "Gassbag."
So where's the episode about the Muslim Terrorist Army Colonel killing dozens of American soldiers in the name of Allah? Or the episode about the Muslim Terrorist Marine Sargent fragging his fellow American soldiers? Oh, I forgot. The NCIS producers are only interested in spewing leftist propaganda about Christians that has no basis in fact, not the real truth or reality of Islamic Terrorism. This is the big reason i don't watch crap TV like these shows anymore.
I tried to develop an interest in that show some time ago, but the various characters were too ridiculous to hold my interest. They are all that way to some extent, but the gal with the tattoos was the worst. I see that I haven't missed anything during those months
My main source of entertainment these days is my cache of DVDs of shows like Sherlock Holmes (the Jeremy Brett version), Rumpole, All Creatures Great & Small, etc.
The change of NCIS was abrupt; it was signaled by an anti-Israel story where Ziva turned against Israel. Don't expect it to get any better. Not watching it at least should finally tell advertisers that is doesn't have the audience as before, but it will continue because it is pure propanda now. The glove is off, and they have slapped Americans in the face. The show has been drafted for the communist/leftist purpose. As long as they can get a kid to watch it will be considered successful. The enemy has been planning and fighting us for a long time, and they are begining the final phase in captivating the new generation now children. And our representatives are self-centered Neanderthals who think big talk and keeping the same in office will do enough. Where are you Sarah: You may be the last hope of America.
Again, great post, but it's angels, not angles. For goodness' sake, does anyone edit this site?
The list is dwindling, rapidly. As oft mentioned, my television viewing is limited because I do not pay for cable, and reception here in the tree laden suburbs is shakey. NCIS was an occasional watch because I enjoy the chemistry between the characters. Here's hoping the return of 24 isn't a disappointment.
I stopped watching nearly all network TV thirty years ago. I was at the student union in grad school and they were watching TV. After three minutes, I pointed to a character and said, "That's the murderer." and walked away. When I came back later, someone reproached me for giving away the plot, as I obviously had seen the show before. I told him that I never even saw any of the show in the series, but when a character prays, he's the obvious villain. And of course, it's probably a murder. Why would I want to insult not only my intelligence but my whole values system by watching clever but evil trash?
Tom, ditto on the characters in LA .
Anybody have an email address for the producers of NCIS?
I didn't like the Palin bash either and I think Weatherly looked uncomfortable saying it.
NCIS is the most highly rated show on television.
PS. Hollywood is money driven. Christians are easy to pick on and easy to make money off of.
"Is there a verse in the Bible one can point to where the Christian is instructed to kill the offending family member should he or she decide to convert to another religion? I think not. "
How about Deuteronomy 13:6-9? "If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people."
I consider myself a Christian. I don't deny the fact that there are a lot of things in the Christian Bible that lend themselves to barbarism and atrocity; nor do I deny the fact that faith — in anything, whether religious or secular — has the power to lead people to do unthinkable things in the name of whatever it is that they believe to be true. Christians are no exception. (Fifteen-odd years ago, so-called Christians were responsible for acts of domestic terrorism against abortion clinics and practitioners.) Not everyone reads and interprets the Bible the same way. I think a big reason why so many programs focus on Christians doing evil is because Christians in the U.S. don't seem to believe that they're capable of wielding the power of their religion in the service of evil. While I don't appreciate outright attacks on religion (especially by the writers of shows like NCIS, which has always been very dull and uninspired; a nice contrast would be Bones, which is also tiresomely formulaic, but has always paid attention to character dynamics, building a bridge between religious faith and secularist skepticism from the very outset), I also don't see the value in getting all upset over fiction that exploits the true potential of real-world beliefs and ideologies — including Christianity.
Pretending that Christians are incapable of unspeakable violence and carping about the liberal attacks on Christianity (as if there weren't Christians who held liberal political views) is both a specious conflation of politics and religious belief and a rather sad indictment of the culture of victimhood that a lot of latter-day conservatives seem to foster. Yes, liberals and non-theists have always and will always be critical of conservative politics and religion. That's the way it works. It's all part of a larger debate that has been conducted for the better part of human civilization's existence. (Conservatives and the religious act the same.) But the debate would be much more effective if everyone speaking from a politically or spiritually committed viewpoint could be honest about his/her own background. Part of that is Christians acknowledging that the Christian Bible can be unequivocally read to support acts of prejudice and violence, even as it can be unequivocally read to support ecumenical harmony.
Of course, it would also be nice if critics of the Christian Bible would learn to quote its passages in context. But that's a problem anti-Christians seem to share with a great many Christians, so there you go.
Don't forget to include your donation check in the letter, you can save on postage putting them in one. Remember that next time you buy pet food at Walmart- you're bankrolling these shows.
No it is not money driven. Christian and conservative themed shows are removed as fast as possible, even when they are doing OK.
I don't watch any show on TV that follows the "Lazy TV Show Writer Handbook", meaning if it's not about doctors, lawyers, or cops they don't have a clue.
Come up with something original for once and maybe I'll tune in.
Yeah, thats what I was thinking too. Its amazing what "idiots" can get upset about when watching a fictional show.
OMG, the Christian was the bad guy in this episode.
No way! Christians aren't bad!
Get 'em!
I stopped watching this show a year ago. The show began to follow the predictable liberal plot line; ambivalent enemies but for what America traditionally stands for. I do not hold this set of actors responsible, I've not noticed public statements they have made regarding the issues of the day. Back to watching Magnum PI, Miami Vice, Great Planes and old NCIS episodes – would one of you Hollywod types get Tom Selleck together with Tom Clancy and put 50 million to work and make a straight forward movie of the the Magnum PI fighting Jihad Johnny?
(Part 1 of 2)
It's very important for leftists to demonize the Christian faithful. A people with strong faith are less likely to submit to totalitarian rule. It's straight out of the Lenin/Mao playbook and make no mistake, those folks are hard at work in the media, in education and in politics to undermine your liberty and destroy this nation in the name of "Global Governance." Networks have become infiltrated and are propaganda arms of the gov't. The "collectivist/Marxist" message is worked into every theme, sometimes overt, sometimes subtle–but it is always present.
And tenets, not tenants.
(Part 2 of 2)
This is done by plan, coordinated on a massive scale and using the latest science of persuasion and psychological techniques. (To find evidence of this claim, simply consult the latest marketing, media studies and public relations curriculums from any major university…)
The only remedy is for you to educate yourself on these efforts and to DIRECTLY confront any adverse messages you find. Your prosperity, values and the future of your children are being targeted–in increasingly overt ways. Truth and liberty demands your attention and your action. Demand truth from your media. Demand accountability from your government. Challenge these false ideas where you find them, preferably face to face!
Thats hilarious! They might be able to do it once conservatives learn how to be fresh and honest. But thats huge leap. And it would mean changing. Ooops. Never happen.
Bones did the same thing this year. It was the absolute worst Christmas episode we have ever watched (across all networks) with these two NCIS/NCIS LA episodes coming in a very tight second and third. We've been strong followers of all three shows through the years and collectively, I'm not sure I'll be able to drag my wife back to new episodes of any of these three anymore. They've absolutely ruined all three for us.
You're not a Christian or else you would know that Deuteronomy was in the Old Testament and for Christians the New Testament supercedes the Old in most respects. Everything changed when Jesus was sent down to be sacrificed for us, the old laws no longer applied. Stay away from here until you read and understand what being a Christian means, you can't be a Christian and be liberal and you also can't be a practicing Jew and be a liberal.
We are at war and our side doesn't even know it. NCIS is no longer welcome on my tv.
I would love to see a real "sci-fi" channel. The current so called psy-phy channel keeps giving us navel – staring crap. With so much good SF out there, couldn't someone get the rights to some and make some shows for a "web channel" cheaply, especially with the decreasing cost of special effects making even space operas cheap to make.
Asimov, Anderson classics and Ringo and Flint current works come to mind.
Let me get you a tissue. At least Christians just cry and whine about it. Muslims take to the streets and burn things when their feelings are hurt.
Matt:
"I consider myself a Christian."… And then you drop the anti-Christian diatribe.
Christianity does not teach to hate your enemies. Aparently something the Koran teaches encourages men and women to strap bombs on their chest and walk into public buildings and kill dozens of innocent people at a time. Oh, yea and bombing airplanes and hijacking others and flying them into buildings. Yearly death toll: thousands and thousands.
Yes, a few deranged nut jobs have bombed abortion clinics over the years, but apparently they never read their Bibles.

All modern sci-fi = aliens/elightened socialists — earthlings/evil capitalists.
GET OVER IT! ITS A TV SHOW!

IUD? I think you mean IED.
I would add that it's usually counterproductive to pay people money to bash you and your beliefs (the reason to boycott films); that you can get smacked around gratis.
So far as TV goes, why sit through ads to be patronized. We're not dumb enough to believe the crap the Ho'wood writers write, so the suspension of disbelief is not possible and we end up bored for 30 minutes (isn't the rest of the time take up by ads).
I had been warned about the NCIS episode on BH, so when the two Christmas tree thieves spotted the body, we switched channels.
So far as the opposing view to our beliefs, what's one more going to teach us that the other ten thousand didn't. We hear all the bad stuff about us, our beliefs, our religion, our values 24/7 if we care to keep our TVs on and go to the movies.
Better yet….change the channel. Have you ever heard the phrase, "all press is good press, good or bad"?
Well, go to http://www.baen.com. You have everything from a Trotskist (sp?) to full fledged libertarians writing SF. Go read you some Lt Col Kratman for some seriously conservative viewpoints. Read "Caliphate" for a look at a possible tomorrow.
"I think a big reason why so many programs focus on Christians doing evil is because Christians in the U.S. don't seem to believe that they're capable of wielding the power"
I think deeply devout Catholics Pope Pelosi and her Bishops Kennedys are performing magnificently at their job of doing evil ; not even the Vatican is capable of wielding the power of 'thanking God' for abortion while remaining solid devotee of their Church.
Or, for that matter the 50% of Catholic voters who voted for the politician who publicly advocated the human being should still die even after surviving the first abortion.
How come TV People never point this wielding of power out?
I'm waiting for some crazy to kidnap Fonda or Sarandan and take her to the wilds of Wazirastan and give her to a local tribesman as wife number four. Ten months later, he can go back for her, and, if she's still alive, "commission" her to to write a piece for "Vanity Fair" on just how wonderful life is for women in the simpler animal dung for heating fuel), non-materialistic (no dress problems, only burqas to wear) life. Maybe she can get the loon who writes about having tea in Afghanistan to ghost it for her.
What we really need to do is watch them, SOMEBODY, then post the advertisers on BH or some other web site. No need to advocate boycott which would then bring the loons out like a swarm of fire ants — just simply post the storyline and the advertisers. We'd know what to do.
I am not a Christian, but I am conservative because after observing the left over many many decades, I've come to the conclusion their greed for power and riches is boundless. If you have any doubt about that, read Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. It's your side's playbook.
FYI PaC — Moslems don't only burn things, they kill and torture indiscriminately too.
Well said. It's amazing how people who read the same scriptures (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, or what have you) can come to such radically different conclusions about what those scriptures actually mean. And of course everyone is fond of cherry-picking – singling out verses to make a religion appear in a positive or negative light or to justify or condemn some action.
Obviously the producers are more interested in indulging their anti-Christian animosity than putting on what used to be a pretty good show.
I agree. If nothing else, these politically motivated story lines are just plain old dull and unimaginative.
However, I have trouble imagining Hollywood scriptwriters thinking as subtly and reasonably as you do. More like they're liberals who are more afraid of a Christian Theocracy than they are of Muslim suicide bombers. I think that's the real point of these two episodes – to remind everyone that the real "enemy" is right here at home in the shape of Christian fundamentalists who want to take over the government, and who nearly did in the shape of George W. Bush.
Ugh! I LOVE NCIS! So annoying. Is there nothing untouchable?
The cancer metastasizes to yet another show. Maybe (we can only hope) this will be a one-time thing. I sent an email to NCIS's web page, expressing my displeasure. If they're just "progressives" who finally popped their gourds and wrote a script like this, we're screwed. Another otherwise good show to disregard.
bUgS:
"to remind everyone that the real "enemy" is right here at home in the shape of Christian fundamentalists who want to take over the government, and who nearly did in the shape of George W. Bush"
Your trite, stupid, moronic and sophmoric statement just caused me to puke all over my keyboard…

There was also another small quip in an NCIS episode a couple weeks ago that didn't sit well, either.
DiNozzo (sp?) and David went to the house of a suspect, and the female suspect answered the door with a shotgun and fired through the door because she thought a bad guy was out to kill her. She didn't know it was the NCIS agents. After arresting her, DiNozzo said, "Who does she think she is, Sarah Palin?"
I just rolled my eyes. I like NCIS, so I hope, as many others here do, they leave politics and religion out of it.
Another thing about what the colonel said. "Now he's taken my son as well." People want to blame God when humans cause human suffering. God didn't take the colonel's son, his other son did. I'm no theologian, but even I understand that. Stop confusing the two.
——-
"For true patriots to remain silent, is dangerous." Sam Adams
i missed the Musilm bad guy episode.
"Muslims take to the streets and burn things when their feelings are hurt."
Maybe they're onto something, what's your address??
I agree and watch CSI.
Well its a good thing NCIS finally shaped up and started towing the line!
Too long has the show done things like support the military, families, America, all that outdated nonsense.
I guys FINALLY the watchdogs woke up and made sure everyone got their act together and started in on important things, like Christian bashing. Expect soon environmental episodes and of course a grand conspiracy within our government (Bush era only). Maybe now the cool kids like Bill Maher and Keith Olberman will make cameos.
Its been too darn long that this little show fought against the prevailing culture, but finally it seems the non-conformity is stamped out and we can all settle back, secure in the knowledge that everyone in the media thinks the same.
After all, they'd hate to lose their funding.
Bad guy, I don't mind; two eps that have standard crimes of Islam with the serial number rubbed off and "Xtian!!!" written across it in crayon… that I mind.
Yeah man, that Christian Theocracy is some scary stuff.
All throughout the Bush Years I can't tell you then number times the Religious Police came knocking on my door after an evening of sexual happy to drag me off to Church.
Not to mention all those 'gay gulags' my homosexual friends would tell me about-it seems Gov McGreevy was forced to marry a female twice!!!!!!!
My goodness, how did we survive those tyrannical years of oppression ?
It's a great thing that AlGore's Green NBC Police saved the day-those free I HEART NYC condoms were getting expensive!
Actually, there's any easy explanation why NCIS has changed so much from it's beginnings.
The absence of Don Bellisario from the creative process of the show.
Though the reasons are muddled in the press releases concerning him leaving the show (he didn't write the eps fast enough, the cast and crew were unhappy with wait times, etc.) I think the real reasons can be inferred: Don was too pro military, too pro USA, and his villains were too often terrorists. While I think most fans felt that he was fair and balanced, I get the distinct impression that some of the cast and the writing staff wanted to go in a different direction. And so, NCIS slowly but surely became just another cop/forensics show.
BTW, if you have the DVDs, listen to some of the cast/crew commentaries. They're eye-opening. Especially in the post Don era of the show. I could almost feel the pain in David McCallum's voice when he let slip with the comment: "I really miss Don…"
I know you do not understand DARK IRONY so I won't em brasses you further.
My last reply is directed towards Bugs and Bugs alone.
And thats what it took??!??
I don't understand the appeal of all these crappy detective drama cop shows.
I mean, I get the value of turning the brain off and enjoying some entertainment on the boob tube. But one needs to have the brain on in the first place to get that value. Americans don't. In particular teabaggers who enjoy this space. ugh
The NCIS writers used characters whom we are already emotionally invested in to get us to keep us watching while they perform their ideological bait and switch. This is a common practice with the left.
You can tell yourself that delusion, do yourself a favor and don't share it with others.
What is a conserative themed show anyway? Can you name a couple? Other than Fox News. "24", is that one?
Yes because the whole world knows how badly you need sympathy. We saw them in DC on 9/12 showing us how badly so many people need sympathy. We see on Fox News every minute of every day how badly the rthey need sympathy. We see Republicans drone on and on constantly about how badly they need sympathy. There is an awful lack of humility in this philosophy of sympathy infecting people.
when i read all these posts…it really hurt my heart. i am both christian and conservative. i also love NCIS and Law and Order. i think it's important to remember that white american christians have made it clear that we are both capable and willing to commit evil deeds as much as the next guy. maybe seeing those episodes around christmastime is meant to put that very fact before our eyes…so we can see it, and grow from it. become better. because i'll be honest with you…i'm tired of this conservative christian mentality that we refuse to tolerate anyone who isn't exactly like us, believes the same as us, looks the same as us. open your eyes. look at what americans have done to ourselves. we insist upon forcing people into groups, republicans and democrats, liberals and conservatives, left and right wings, christians and non-christians, right and wrong. and every single one of you has contributed to that mentality.
look at these NCIS characters. they are utterly and completely loyal to their country, to NCIS and to their team. abby, the "gal with the tattoos was the worst" as mr turgidson claims, is shown on several espisodes to attend church. in fact, she is the only character to be portrayed as doing such. catholic church, in fact, if i'm not mistaken. she also goes bowling with the nuns. she loves everyone, cares about everyone. you, sir, would be lucky to have half of her good qualities. you go around pointing out the sins of others, laughing at them, calling them names…excluding them. exclusion seems to the christian way these days. you spend so much time pointing the finger at everyone else, that you don't even recognize your own sins. learn to love each other. that is what christians are supposed to do. love your neighbor, love your enemy. NCIS is not "evil". it is not a "bad" show with no morals. i take a lesson from every episode on that show. you all would do well to do the same. every single one of you who posted on here against NCIS should be ashamed of yourselves. stop being so defensive about EVERYthing.
if we do not stop fighting amongst ourselves…if we do not learn to live and love together….we will die alone. instead of pointing out all the things you don't like about this show…i would like to see everyone on here re-post ONE THING that they admire about the show or one of its characters. we MUST try to see the good in things. it is the only way. and, frankly, its' the christian way.
"Is there a verse in the Bible one can point to where the Christian is instructed to kill the offending family member should he or she decide to convert to another religion? I think not. "

What about Christians teabaggers who TRIED to be derogatory towards our president by calling him a Muslim during their protests? Great tolerance, folks. I could cite hundreds of other instances of ignorant Christians (not Christian ignornance, because I don't generalize) spouting Pat Robertson-fueled crap. The episode did not hate against Christianity, it put a microscope on the red state morons whose xenophobia is spurning the hate from the Middle East. If these idiots would just shut their mouths, we wouldn't be as much a target. Stop the vicious cycle.
Your grandparents might prefer a story about these guys: ('Chilling' new video: How to slit throats).
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pag... I know I would.
Don Belisario… pro military nah… oh wait, Magnum PI, Air Wolf, JAG, NCIS about the only show in the last twenty years he's done was Quantum Leap that the main character didn't have a military back ground.
I might be wrong on that.
I still haven't forgiven them for how they wrapped up the whole la granoui "the frog"/ Jean Benoit storylines.
They never should have done it that way. If you spend a year plus doing a story arc, then finish it right. Even the monty python guys agree now, they should have shot another ending for Holy Grail.
Artistic fancy only goes so far, story and depth take it home.
I've already stopped watching House this year. I've given up on Lost years ago. As too a number of other shows. now I'm left with Leverage, Burn Notice, White Collar, Psych, Numb3rs, Castle, Mythbusters, Mentalist among the few left I watch.
Did I miss any other good shows?
And I've found Holmes on Homes on HGTV, DVR time.
Both shows are ridiculous to begin with so why waste your time with a stupid boycott. Love the hypocritical "conservatives" who boycott everything that "offends" them – then go on to watch/use whatever they claim to be boycotting anyway.
I quit watching crappy network shows years ago.
Get a life, buddy.
I hadn't realized that Bellisario had left the show but I see his departure coincides with when I think the show started going downhill so that makes sense. That's too bad but I'll look forward to whatever his next project is.
This is common in the gory crime shows. I began watching old back-to-back episodes of Criminal Minds and was quickly shocked about the number of shows that frequently attributed horrible murders to fanatical "Christians" of hate. Few Americans understand Islam, but many fail to understand the Christian faith either. If they did, they would know that fanatic, so-called Christian murderers and haters are not Christian at all.
I had spent many years away from watching TV until recently. I wanted to know what the popular programs depict, why our society is desensitized to gore and death. I found out quickly. I was utterly shocked at the horrible scenes shown of dismembered bodies, rigor mortis, and blood spatters everywhere. The violence is off the scale. Just when I expected the camera to switch to another scene, so as to avoid the shocking, instead the camera zoomed in to let me see close-up gore. No wonder life is not precious to many today. A younger generation has grown up with this kind of disrespect for life and morals. Seeds of disregard for human life are sown weekly, and ways of committing horrible murders and rapes are clearly discussed and filmed. Psychotic people who must get a lot of helpful hints about how to play out their sick fantasies.
Oh, of course, the BAU caught the sicko after tons of regurgitated psychobabble between the team, but an opportunity to send a good message about the sanctity of life was ignored and Christian values and convictions were distorted, disdained, and despised.
I am a Christian and I am fed up with political correctness that opens wide the door of acceptance of everything except my Christian convictions.
Finally, someone that makes sense!
It's simply bad writing when characters in a show suddenly and very obviously start sounding exactly like liberal Hollywood script writers.
Ditto on the Corey Reynolds preachy stuff – what horrible uncomfortable dialog that was.
DING DING DING DING DING!
Dude, I've been saying this about "NCIS" since Day One of Big Hollywood. It's not the same show since Bellisario left and the new episodes are officially out of my DVR queue.
I suggest other do the same. If you want to watch "NCIS," watch the reruns or the DVDs prior to the Fall 2007 season.
