‘Not Evil Just Wrong’ Will Open Eyes to Inconvenient Facts
by Christian Toto“Not Evil Just Wrong,” the new documentary debunking much of the global warming movement, is reaching the public at an opportune time. Not only did the film’s director, Phelim McAleer, just publicly embarrass former Vice President Al Gore at a global warming Q&A, but major news outlets are now revealing the earth’s temperature hasn’t gone up for at least a decade.
Yet, “Not Evil Just Wrong” still won’t get the attention of your average Michael Moore polemic. That’s a shame, since it’s far more balanced than Moore’s body of work and offers a message few mainstream documentaries are willing to touch.

What if global warming is just another wide-scale scare tactic, like Y2K, the killer bees or mad cow disease, but with far more devastating results? These questions are rarely asked in the press, so kudos to “Not Evil” for doing so in such a methodical fashion. The film isn’t as entertaining as a Moore screen rant, but it still looks snazzy while imparting a raft of enlightening material.
Naturally, the film presses its thumb on the scale to favor the skeptics, but the global warming believers here add both texture and perspective. “We live in an age of fear, but humans have never lived longer or been healthier,“ the narrator says.
The film then trots out a wealth of experts to address the global warming movement and its flaws, but none are more passionate than Patrick Moore, a founding member of Greenpeace. He’s aghast at the direction the environmental movement has taken in recent years, and thinks too many of his peers take an “anti-human” approach to the matter. “They care more about fish eggs than humans, and there’s something immoral about that,” he says of some enviro-peers.
“Not Evil” spends too much time addressing, and debunking, the case against DDT as a weapon against malaria. Yes, demonizing DDT had disastrous consequences and there’s plenty to be learned from this chapter in environmental history. But focusing so long on the matter blunts the overall theme.
Some film polemics pluck at our heartstrings without shame, and while “Not Evil” shows a lower middle class family to showcase the results of potential green legislation, it also subverts the genre’s touchy feely clichés.
The film shows school children in Northern Ireland who sketch frightening drawings inspired by Gore’s fear mongering. Given the recent news headlines concerning brainwashed kiddies singing odes to President Barack Obama, the sequence proves even more chilling than intended.
The documentary could have gone the Moore route, blasting away at its opponents while overstating its case with fast edits and slippery truths. But McAleer meticulously states its arguments, sometimes to the film’s detriment.
Take the movie’s debunking of the “hockey stick” graph used to highlight one the global warming movement’s key talking points. We’re walked through the entire process, learning step by step how two curious men were able to puncture the stick myth once and for all. The film also deftly illustrates the “Kumbaya” mentality so prevalent amongst environmentalists. One do-gooder wonders what Uganda would be like without birds, which she fears would be the result if DDT were introduced into the country.
“Can you imagine Elton John with no piano?” the environmentalist asks. We’d rather imagine an African country fighting back against a killer disease.
“Not Evil Just Wrong” may not be as flashy as “Sicko” or as easily digested as “Super Size Me,” but it could open up viewers’ eyes to some inconvenient facts about the global warming debate.

Wish I could see this. I do not have any extra cash to buy it and no showings any where that is close. Does any one know if there will be available online?

Commenter Kit in Saturday's open thread had a link about the upcoming UN climate treaty meeting in Copenhagen. And, you know 'The One' with his brand new Noble Peace Prize is going to sign the abomination. Anyhow, the treaty is on line and here in an excerpt (and links to the original site)

Why do ultra left environmentalist not care about Gore and hollywood losers' abuse of the environment? Why don't they demand conformity from these people, instead of sticking it to the regular folk? If someone cares so much about the environment that he/she are willing to live in a redwood tree for a year while friends daily remove their wastes and bring food, why can't those people demand Gore and other rich liberal losers live in a normal 2000 square foot home (plenty big enough for 2 people), drive a mini hybrid, be vegetarian, and give most of their millions to poor people (directly), environmental causes, scholarships, etc.? Oh, yeah, I guess it's because these environmental wackos are too busy trying to accept and explain Whoopie's belief that Polanski didn't "rape rape" or that Letterman is cool betraying his family, abusing his staff, and condemning a clean beautiful woman who would DARE birth a handicapped son, or that somehow, Obama's Nobel is appropriate.
Great start – - and a sharp jab from the right!
To promote this film, we had a Tea Party yesterday in San Diego. Introducing it was this video, which mentions "Not Evil, Just Wrong" — SNL-Tina Fey PARODY at San Diego TEA PARTY EVENT!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZASuAF1pUQU
While not the same caliber as the magnificent "ACORN" videos, we hope people share this one — to show that the American public does not hold the opinion of the entertainment elite either sacred or revered.
Details on the event can be found HERE: http://templeofmut.wordpress.com/2009/10/18/tina-...
I'm not too keen on the title. I think it should be "Al Gore is an idiot".
Makes more sense.
You got it…
And Democrats are falling right in step. It's crazy.
In Michigan, the big pitch is 'Green Jobs' where we can manufacture wind mills, solar panels and now Li-Ion batteries in our state rather than cars..
The problem is that studies have shown in Europe that for every government subsidized 'Green Job' that is created it kills 2.2 private sector job. It's not a projection, it's a fact.
And with 10% unemployment in America and 15%+ in Michigan, this will be a complete disaster.
This movie truly needs a mass marketing campaign and soon! This needs to get out to ALL Americans NOW. Show this movie in every type of venue that Algore did his fictional tale. It is time now before it is too late!
When it's released on video you can request your Public Library procures a copy. They usually will for documentaries like this since it is educational material.

Time to demand the 'none of the above' option on all ballots.
Last I heard the earth was cooling.
"We’d rather imagine an African country fighting back against a killer disease."
I love this line cause it perfectly illustrates the absolute childlike understanding of the real issues surrounding this ridiculous ideology. The left honestly believes Africa "fighting back against a killer disease" like malaria and other mosquito born diseases, is best accomplished by using mosquito nets on their shanty like homes or having children wear protective clothing when they go out to play. This is like fighting inner-city gun violence by asking people to wear bulletproof vests when they leave the house. It doesn't really address the source of the problem just the effects of it.
It is this exact kind of misguided phony virtue that subverts the real problems in the world and prevents well meaning people from accomplishing anything of any true value. And I hope that everyone reading this will use my example of using bulletproof vests to "fight" gun violence anytime your hear someone tell you mosquito netting, instead of DDT, is the best way to save lives in Africa. What a joke!!!!!
I wish Al Gore could convince the people of his ancestral home to maybe cut down on the pollution and raping of the oceans. That would go a long way to preserving the planet. Certainly he would have the ear Hu Jintao.
The answer to my question has been answered in the affermative. Thanks to Big Hollywood. Thank you Andrew for providing this service.
I completely agree with you. It is an unfortunate title, because I believe the myth of global warming is evil. The environmentalists have completely gone off the track and by now they must realize that they are perpetuating a lie for their own gain. In America, the Cap and Trade bill is aimed at turning us into a backward 3rd World Country. I, for one, am not going to idly sit by and let it happen. We all need to speak out before it is too late.
IF you can afford it I recommend purchasing the packages which sends a copy to you and the other copies to the school kids.

I get a kick out of these global warming deniers. Has everyone forgotten that the real issue here is pollution? Surely the deniers and the environmentalists can agree on one thing, which is that pollution is bad for the environment…right? Or are the deniers so blindly ignorant that they can't agree that pollution is bad?
Of course the problem with that is you give power to the minority when you vote that way. Politicians love to hear that people are getting too frustrated to care, because it means they'll be able to keep getting elected, and no one will hold them accountable for the sleazy things they do.
And by pollution, you mean CO2?
You lose, major fail.
As for actual pollution, Americans have done a magnificent job over the last thirty years. Maybe you could do a bit of reading and rephrase your question.
you are are so right, these people (Gore and friends) are a joke thry couldn't survive in the real world
The German press recently carried several articles detailing the massive subsidies going into wind and solar power. They also wrote that the promised green jobs are for the most part not materializing. Why? Because wind turbines and solar panels are increasingly imported from countries like China.
There is nothing surprising about that. If you don´t have an industry-friendly environment you won´t make stuff. If you are not competitive making cars what makes you think you can compete making anything else? You are still stuck with the same taxes, regulations, infrastructure and labor problems.
I am not on principle opposed to wind and solar power. But they are niche products; we will never get most of our energy from these sources. Never. And if they are not economically viable without permanent subsidies, what´s the point?
"One do-gooder wonders what Uganda would be like without birds, which she fears would be the result if DDT were introduced into the country."
Uganda without birds would mean an exponential increase in various insect (and in some cases small-mammal and fish) species that serve as the birds' food source. I don't imagine anyone needs an explanation as to what happens to an agrarian society when the population of disease-spreading and crop-eating insects explodes, right?
There are plenty of environmentalist idiots who look at the world as though "Bambi" were a documentary, but in terms of practical reality the "results" sought by the Gaia crowd actually ARE more scientifically sound than the "save as many humans as possible and screw everything else" crowd.
The real issue is pollution?
Are you insane? The issue is man-made climate change. The issue is world-wide government control over our lives due to the claim that man controls the climate. The issue is the deceit propagated by the global warming, er, climate change fear-mongers.
BTW, the earth hasn't warmed since 1998, despite rising levels of carbon dioxide, and that wasn't predicted by the tainted computer models.

For my part, I imagine that people who claim an all-encompassing affection for "humanity" are the people that don't have to commute to work, live in or near the city or participate in any other activity wherein they actually have to ENGAGE "humanity" on a day-to-day basis.
I applaud the opportunity to see this for free via streaming but I wish it wasn't being shown on Sunday evening when it goes against Sunday night football.
I think it could have garnered a larger audience otherwise.
No, pollution is a different issue. As you would know if you had ever given it any thought. Everywhere in the developed world, the quality of air and drinking water has improved drastically over the last 40 years because we have for the most part addressed the problems of real pollutants.
CO2 is not a pollutant. It is harmless to people. Plants like it. That is your problem. You have to prove that man-made climate change is real and also that it is will do great damage. Otherwise you cannot justify the drastic interventions in our economy and the economy of less developed nations, keeping them poor when they still suffer from real issues like dirty water. I have not seen nearly enough evidence too accept that. I have seen lots of evidence that climate hysteria is being whipped up and exploited by people who wanted unlimited government and central planning long before anyone had ever heard of climate change.

The regulatory and business climate in Michigan has steadily eroded in Michigan and it shows. The one crazy thing is the current, for a lack of a better term, leadership in Michigan is running a command and control business model. The state has blocked any real power generation and is demanding Wind and Solar (in Michigan!) power only, this is driving up costs in our state. The state is talking about tax increases on everyone except the pet projects like Li-Ion batteries and Movie production.
This does not work and the proof is in the unemployment numbers…
Screw that. Humans and their lives are the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT criteria by which any legislative agenda or policy initiative MUST BE MEASURED.
That's lame. So, I can assume you don't mind if your kids, grandkids and unborn great-grandkids freeze or starve because you were too stupid to fight this government take-over?
I DO CARE, and I'll do anything I can to stop this BS.

That's lame. Can I then assume you don't mind if your kids, grandkids and unborn great-grandkids freeze or starve because you were too stupid to fight this government take-over?
I DO CARE, and I'll do anything I can to stop this BS.
To hell with that!
There is only ONE CRITERIA worth having, when it comes to legislative agendas or policy initiatives, and that is the potential effect on humans.
Can I then assume that you don't care if your kids, grandkids and unborn great-grandkids freeze or starve because you were one of the dumb masses who failed to prevent this governmental take-over?
WELL, I DO CARE, and I will do everything in my power to deny this administration and other power-grabbers their prize, which is the sovereignty of the U.S. and the human dignity of its citizens.
Bob I had a nice fact laden response to your nonsense, but I had to delete it because it finally dawned on me that people like you simply lack the intelligence to comprehend the truth and the required honesty to acknowledge it, so why bother? But before you sentence millions of people around the world to greater illness or death and billions more to a lower standard of living to save the polar bear, remember that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Every time I try to click on the site for the past week it aborts. Anyone else having this problem?
Al Gore is an idiot and so are you, bob.
Jerome R. Corsi, WorldNetDaily writes:
“A former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher says the real purpose of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen on Dec. 7-18 is to use global warming hype as a pretext to lay the foundation for a one-world government.
….
“Your president will sign it. Most of the Third World countries will sign it, because they think they’re going to get money out of it. Most of the left-wing regimes from the European Union will rubber stamp it. Virtually nobody won’t sign it,” he told the audience of some 700 attendees.”

Please pass this on – we must stop this destruction of our Constitution and the overthrow of our republic before it is too late.
Gore is a current incarnation of the movement described nearly 40 years ago by Ayn Rand, in The New Left: the Anti-Industrial Revolution.
DDT was not the danger. The old propellant fluorocarbon was the culprit. Everything fluoriine reacts with becomes toxic. Fluorine is the most reactive element on earth. Fluoride is a derivative of flourine. The decrease in the number of song birds, since 1967, is not from outlawed DDT but the fluoride in the water. Virtually all modern American ills point back to fluoride in the water. Do not drink fluoride and demand it out of our water. Please look up "The Fluoride Deception".
Well said, I couldn't agree more.
Sounds like a good film and I'll try to catch it. Not crazy about the "Not Evil Just Wrong" title though. Seems a bit apologetic.
Don't think for a moment that Al Gore and friends really buy into this pile of nonsense. If they really believed what they're selling they wouldn't be flying in private jets and driven around in limos. A rational human being can recognize what the reality is – that they are selling the hoax of global warming for power and money. In my book someone who is doing that is in fact evil.
Way to project your own ignorance onto your opponents, bob. Think about it this way: we all agree that pollution is bad for the environment. Similarly, we all agree that smoking is bad for your health. But if someone came up to you and told you that unless we all stop smoking right now, the Earth's atmosphere is going to spontaneously combust and destroy us all, would you believe that? And if not, wouldn't you feel the need to set the facts straight so everyone can make up their own minds about smoking, even though your original understanding that smoking is unhealthy hasn't changed? Chew on that for a while, imagine those smoking-spontaneous-combustion people calling you "pro-death" and a pawn of Big Tobacco, and maybe you'll start to get an idea of how we feel.
Concerned about your precious bodily fluids much?
"Global Warming" like "Global Cooling", "The Population Bomb", "Nuclear Winter" were never about the subject heading but rather all designed to reduce the living standards of the American middle class. Not the American welfare class and certainly not the American elite (Gore, Rockefeller, Pelosi, Kennedy, Gates and Hollywood bigwigs — all of whom signed on because it made them look intelligent – quite a feat in itself). The living standard of the American middle class, three cars, six tvs, golf vacations, tennis club memberships, gym memberships, a single family home are a poke in the eye to people in Africa, South America and the Middle East who eke out a subsistence level lifestyle. Europe lives better than the other areas, however, their social spending keeps their taxes and unemployment to a level that they're lucky if they have one car OR can rent a car to take their August vacation which their socialism guarantees. This whole Global Warming brouhaha (The Church of the Holy Smoke) was and is designed to destroy America's middle class.
I don't know. Considering how much money he is making with his chicken little act, I would say Gore is quite the evil genius.
If the real issue were simply pollution, America would be getting all of its energy from nuclear power plants right now.
Ah, MovieBob, the red herring master, surfaces to scold all the Global Warming deniers for not caring about Uganda losing all of its birds.
Some nutcase ignorantly suggests a false conclusion (that DDT would results in a bird-less Uganda) and you spin the protests to her conclusion to be support for her conclusion.
Keep the intellectual dishonesty and you might win a Nobel Prize some day!
As a software engineer, I remember shaking my head at the ridiculousness that was Y2K-hysteria. The nice thing about that scam was that it had an expiration date. With "Global Warming", it seems like they just keep saying "10 years from now". Of course, after 10 years, when nothing has happened, they just say "well 10 years from now" and no one ever calls them on it.
Simply not part of their narrative. They are the beautiful ones. The limosened few empowered by the size of their above sixth grade educated brains -rumor has it. They know. Their knowledge is unassailable. We serfs must obey the overseer, fall in line with the lords. We must pay homage to the Harvidian, his Telepromterness, on high. For it was Bush the Destroyer, who smited Gaia with his evil wars and his capitalistic ways. Ruined the picnic table so Euwell Gibbons couldn't chow down. Smashed the guitar that bespake the glories of "Kumbaya".
Flippin' mongoloids…………yeah, that means I must be a rascist.
Just this week Obama made a speech that we have to address climate change. He did not say we have to address pollution. Who has said the real issue is pollution? Leaders are meeting this year to address "climate change" to decrease the earth's temperature by 2 degrees. (what a joke). Again, where are you hearing the issue is pollution? Are you changing the terminology again? We have gone from global warming to climate change and now you say the problem is pollution. Is the climate not behaving the way you all would like for it to?
Yes, bob, we can all agree that pollution is bad. Let me give you some perspective as a traveler to over 40 countries during my lifetime. The most polluted places I have visited have always been the most POOR. You don't know filth until you visit places with no sewage, no safe drinking water, and no vehicle emission standards. BECAUSE THEY ARE POOR! And, yes, I am yelling, because I'm fed up your ignorance and others like you. Clean and safe ecosystems are the product of WEALTHY nations. Any environmental crisis can be cured if the local residents have the monetary wherewithal to address the problem. Economic advancement is the solution, not the problem.
I am so totally watching this tonight! Can't wait..
Are the believers so blindly ignorant that they ignore pollution and focus on the nebulous "global warming" ?
You're going to watch NFL after this past week???
I'll look forward to showing this film to my students in the spring when we talk about "climate change!"
I have yet to meet a believer that can name, draw, explain, or comprehend ANY SCIENCE to verify their claims. Would that they understood pollution in any form, including their mental pollution.

You can watch it right here at 5:00 pm PT tonight, (the 18th), on BigHollywood for free. (Live Streamed).
Get the DVD later when you get a little extra cash.
Happy viewing.
Not Over.
More garbage from political partisans. If you really believe what you spew why just attack Al Gore? He is merely relaying what thousands of scientists have been warning about for decades and is evident if those who claim to be in the know on this looked beyond their own doorsteps, or knew the difference between climate trends and weather. This is just more diversionary rhetoric. I won't be wasting my time watching this trash anytime soon.
And by pollution, you mean CO2?
You lose, major fail.
By the way, I am proudly a denier. As for actual pollution, I do all that I can to reduce it. In fact, Americans in general have done a magnificent job of reducing actual pollution over the last thirty years. You should maybe speak to some of your lefty friends, the ChiComs, for instance, about doing the same. Maybe you could do a bit of reading and rephrase your question.

Duh! What part of DDT kills "insects" did you not understand.
In the 40's DDT was used extensively in the US, guess what, we still have birds.
In the woods near by they spray for mosquitoes and yet mealy bugs and worms still live on. Oh, and birds.
The members of the "Gaia" religion, love all but humans, they do not believe we should be here on earth, yet they are not willing to be the ones to go first.
I've seen this film twice at different pre-premiere events at conservative confabs. You're right on with this review, Christian — pointing out its strengths as well as its weaknesses. You're correct that the focus on DDT goes on too long, though McAleer has done a service by pointing to one of the great sins of the environmental movement. Rachel Carson's "Chicken Little" act on DDT led to the death of MILLIONS of poor Africans. And the old 40s and 50s clips of CHILDREN eating at a picnic while in a fog of DDT spray is priceless. That said, the DDT part could have been cut down by at least 10 minutes.
The most powerful moments are McAleer's clips of the children in Northern Ireland drawing crayoned pictures of a devastation that will never come. They've been literally scared stiff, and believe they (and the polar bears) are going to drown within their lifetimes. The phony apocalyptic indoctrination shocks the system. You can't help but shake your head in disgust — as many fellow viewers did during that portion.
It would be nice if McAleer could cut this film down an hour-long special (or maybe two, with commercials). It's certainly doable. If he did that, the film could be shown on TV … not that America's Discovery Channel would dream of airing it. But I've seen both Gore's fraudulent film and this one. We know WHY Hollywood gave Gore an Oscar for his movie. But it was a snooze-fest from start to finish. Scratch that. I actually laughed out loud over and over. It sent my "unintentional comedy scale" off the charts!
Actually, since I'm a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, I'll have to take a pass on using your analogy of bulletproof vests.
Beyond that, the point you make is interesting. Addressing the source of the problem usually means that something other than human fallenness is the reason for the problem. So guns become the root cause of gun violence when in reality, guns are tools, just like pliers. Human beings choose how to use them. And global warming/climate change is caused by CO2 emissions when in reality it doesn't exist. The source of the problem is that greedy, hateful human beings skewed the science and turned their backs on intellectual and every other kind of honesty for their own benefit.
I'm afraid the real joke is our continued attempt to deny our broken humanity. And over and over we try to deny it but never can we defy it. The answer to this particular joke is something radically different.
Hey Jan watch it you may learn something valuable like the UN's IPCC is a JOKE and no one can pinpoint the mythical thousands of scientists that you worship.
What was fat boy Gore's major or did he have a PHD in science. Stupid effin liberals. Knuckledraggers.
It is simply lovely when politicians promise to control solar flares (to my mind, the source of the "data" used to prop up the Greenie claims). I recall (alas I was unable to recover the Reuters story covering this) that in 1992 that a science minister in India claimed that jet trails from US aircraft in Afghanistan had caused a monsoon season to be interrupted.
Al Gore is a demigod…………. and an idiot.
"Screw that. Humans and their lives are the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT criteria by which any legislative agenda or policy initiative MUST BE MEASURED."
Dude, if you really believed that, you'd have nothing to your name but a shack, some sandals and a Communist Party membership card… after all, a nice "even playing field" the whole world over would be best for "humans" (plural.) Sure, the standard of living would be lower, but the majority would be content and looked-after.
Otherwise, lose the high horse routine already.
Bill7021
Yes indeed. It 'IS' about POWER and CONTROL!
If you make enough laws, then everyone is a potential lawbreaker. It hangs over your head as a constant reminder to watch your every step and word. You are no longer a free people.
If you have Global Environmental Laws, then you have officials from outside your Country telling you what you can do in Your Country, according to those Laws.
It is insidious and a creeping blight on the rights of Nations to self determine.
knownokoolaid
Oh yes, flurorocarbons and the holes in the ozone layer. The holes that where going to cause all kinds of havoc such as rampant skin cancers and the scorching of the earth. Maybe that is what is causing Gore's gore to rise.
Jan
Well of course you would not watch Jan, you would not want to be confused by looking at both sides of an issue!
""More garbage from political partisans."" Of course the Global Warming histrionics of 'Al and friends' are entirely non partisan.
I find it amazing that Greenies claim pollution by humans will go "uncorrected" by mother nature. When Krakatoa erupted, worldwide weather was impacted, yet, the pollution went away over time. Our impact on global weather is of minor importance.

Do you thnk that computer models predicting aggressive warming are "scientific". These same models cannot predict weather beyond a two week window. I'd trust the Farmers Almanac before this gaggle of scientists. "Decades of warnings"? As a child, I recall having the *explitive* scared out of me because of the looming Ice Age. By the way, which modern conveniences have YOU given up to fight global warming? It is obvious that you still use electricity. 99.9% of all Greenies want other people to give up their modernisms, yet they still motor to Green Peace fundraisers in their trusty Volvo.
Why are you guys so tough on the inventor of the internet?
Dead on, DM!
Been there, done that. Wound up with Clinton.
Sadly, all this information has been available for well over three to fours years now. When, the teaching establishment consists of 75% Gorebots/Obamatons, we have our work cut out. Frightening an entire growing generation with tall tales of doom to secure their political position is despicable. Primarily, political power but, Power and Money is all it is about. Talk sense to those you meet, with knowledge, and perhaps we can stem some of this.

Maybe a better description is that Al Gore is the Forrest Gump of Climate Change.
For one to buy-in to the Global Warming scam that Al is pushing requires a belief of 3 things.
1. The earth is warming.
2. A warming earth is a bad thing.
3. The warming earth that is a bad thing is caused by man.
All 3 are canards
I'm going to suggest that you and I sacrifice ourselves, MovieBob. That will remove two humans from Earth's equation, making more room for other people, and we'll probably set a great example for other commie/idiot/environmentalists to follow.
But I don't trust you commies, so I want you to go first. Leave a note, asking your survivors to notify me that you did your part for Mother Earth (Gaia). When they notify me, I'll join you. No, really, I promise. What? You don't believe me? You're just a typical human-hating, suspicious b*st*rd.
Your boy ALGORE wrote a foreword for a re-release of Carson's Silent Spring. All those years and all that science, and your boy just put on the blinders. He's a DDT-BENEFITS denier. I'll tell you, anyone who would deny the benefits of DDT, considering that it SAVED 100 MILLION LIVES, is no better than a Holocaust-denier, and should spend his remaining days in prison.
Hmmm…. O.K. How about "Al Gore is an idiot and crook savant"?
And—a big ugly turd.
Ah Bob your liberal elitest slip is showing..again. I've seen enough threads with you on it to know you don't care about DDT you just hate people and would be very happy if most of us rubes went away, as long as the "smart" people like you are spared.
If I might point out, Y2K was not a scare. The media always loves a good horror story, and yes they blew it way out of proportion, but it was a real issue.
I worked for IBM at the time supporting a I/T group with administration, paper work and such, so I was hip deep in that stuff. We worked our butts for 3 years getting ready for that. I remember getting daily updates to operating systems because some one, some where found another issue, buried in the code.
The reason it looked like a hoax was because we did a damn good job making sure it didn't happen.
Oh yeah, and Al Gore is a lying ass hat.

(Great to see your honesty re: your Commie politics. I happen to believe in equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome, for humans.)
Since I don't trust you commies, I want you to sacrifice yourself first. I'll join you once I verify you've "done the right thing." Leave a note, asking your survivors to notify me that you did your part for Mother Earth (Gaia). When they notify me, I'll join you. No, really, I promise. What? You don't believe me? What? You don't believe me? You're just a typical human-hating, suspicious commie environmentalist b*st*rd. I can't stand you people. To hell with it: The DEAL IS OFF!!

Does anyone have numbers on the total audience from last nights screening? I watched it at the film website and, while some of the comments were amusing, there were never more than 10,000 viewers logged in. I know it also streamed on other sites. Any numbers, anyone?

Afraid I have to agree. I've been around for many decades, and what the scientists have been warning about changes about as often as the tens digit. I've heard it all – warming, cooling, population explosion, nuclear winter, silent spring, etc., etc., etc. In every case, scientists said "Catastrophe A is imminent!" In every case, Catastrophe A did not occur. My conclusion: scientists CANNOT PREDICT THE FUTURE. At least they cannot predict the vast, global, millennialist future that they get excited about every few years. That's not to say their NEXT prediction might not be correct. But based on past performance, the odds appear to be against it.
For what it's worth, I do trust scientists to show me a direct link between human activity and environmental damage – on a smaller, more immediate scale. I tend to believe them when they say dead trees in the Great Smokies are caused by acid rain from factory smoke in Detroit, or that some of the damage to the Great Barrier Reef comes from pesticide runoff. But the climate is caused by EVERYTHING – and I'm not sure they've got a handle on that yet.
The computer geeks I worked with had wildly differing opinions about the possible consequences of the Y2K problem. Everything from "it's all hype" to "it's going to be a global disaster." But they did know it was real and what caused it and how to fix it. More than we can say for the GCC believers.
The real problem with Y2K wasn't what we knew about the computer networks we support, that was our job to know them.
The problem was, what was out there that no one knew about. And let me tell you, the internet ain't nearly as organized as it looks with a fancy application like BH. Which I firmly believe is why it works, because there's no one single, centrally planned, committee that barks out fiats we all have t listen too. We get to do things that we couldn't otherwise do. That's freedom and liberty!
The real scare was what about some computer, or switch, or router, that was supported by some one who got laid off ten years ago and didn't tell any one about.
That's scary.
