Apology Accepted, When You’re a Democrat
by Christian TotoJamie Foxx is really, really sorry he said some horrible things about pop princess Miley Cyrus. He did so on “The Tonight Show” last night while host Jay Leno meekly set up his apology.
And that will most likely be that.
The same thing happened when President Barack Obama made an ugly crack about Special Olympics athletes on the very same “Tonight Show” venue. One apology later, all is forgiven.
I bet Don Imus wishes he got treated the same way.
Or former Virginia Sen. George Allen, whose off-hand “Macaca” reference likely cost him re-election three years ago. The Washington Post kept finding new ways to spin the Macaca story line during the final weeks before the election.
When a figure on the left says something hurtful, or hateful, all that’s needed is a quick apology. Heck the press will just call it a gaffe and move on.
But should Sen. Trent Lott mispeak during a celebration for an aged senator, well, no apology tour is enough to save himself.

Foxx should have to sit through 100 hours of cultural awareness training. They can show him Deliverance fifty times. It's only fair.
Ridiculous double standard, isn't it? Funny thing is, Democrats just don't see it. I guess that's because their brains are already fuzzy.
What are there Demo-brains of which you speak, Laura?
Actually he should be investigated in some fashion. To suggest a 16 y.o. make a sex tape is depraved.
Ann Coulter wrote about this – the basic problem is that in order to be guilty of immorality, you have to have morals. When you espouse an 'anything goes' mentality, well, anything goes.
The funny thing is Democrats will openly admit this – that by having standards and ethics Conservatives set themselves up for a fall.
Typical liberal.
Asking a 16 year-old for a sex tape.
They're all the same.
Such a remark to a young girl shows an amoral nature that is capable of doing great harm to anyone who tries to be civilized. To say such things to a 16 year old isn't far from heartlessly attacking a 16 year old or children of any age. Apology unaccepted. The man needs to seek counseling. At least he has lost this fan.
word
Think his apology has anything to do with his new movie "The Soloist" coming out, which is what he was promoting on Leno? Where's all the outrage from the feminists? Where's Al and Jessie defending the downtrodden? Where's the outrage for the "white bitch" comment. I don't believe Foxx said that, but the woman on his show did and I think she said it several times. He laughs and says, "We're the black Howard Stern" like that's something to be proud of! I am so sick of the double standard!
Replace "a Democrat" with "Black" and I think you'll be more accurate.
Don Imus is a Democrat … didn't work for his cracker a–.
That 's exactly what I thought. Didn't she just turn 16? The fact that this dope even thought of this little girl in a sexual context creeps me out!
Might also be noted that the Republicans said racist things. Republicans making racist comments….shocking, I know. Don Imus is a Republican/Conservative now? I guess only when it's convenient for the storyline we can make him a martyr, huh? And when a Republican Senator says something, he is "mispeaking" or "making an off hand comment? Talk about preaching to the choir! Luckily nobody reads this site.
I am no fan of Don Imus and thought the nappy headed 'ho crack was both misogynistic and racist. That being said, I thought the 'PC' storm trooper response was ridiculous. But I've yet to hear a single complaint about calling Cyrus a "little white b*tch".The sex tape and chlamydia cracks were vulgar but there have been no cries of racism. Why isn't "little white b*tch", an equally misogynistic and racist comment?
Would you care to explain what a "macaca" is? How is it a racist comment?
While campaigning, Senator Obama referred to "typical white people." Would you admit that that is a racist comment? (Not that I care, because I know what he meant, and I consider the intent behind a statement. Do you? If so, again: what was the problem with the word "macaca?")
Is it really so ridiculous to have different standards for entertainers than for politicians? If Jamie Foxx were a politician and said these things the response would have been different (of course, you'd also wonder why a politician would be discussing Miley Cyrus at all). This isn't a double standard so much as an apples to oranges comparison.
Look, I can't blame you guys for saying all kinds of ridiculous and untrue things about people you know nothing about, and not only liberals, 'cause that's what you guys do here.
However, has it ever occurred that a. Foxx is not running for office, nor is he a political commentator, so that this is taken as being a personal insult, not a political one. b. George Allen and Trent Lott made statements that they issued non-apology apologies for which in one case showed a nasty streak of which racism was only a small part and Lott, a politician, by implication endorsed the Dixiecrat agenda. By the way, Lott is back, Imus is back, I'm sure Allen will be back.
You may now resume your tale of conservative victimhood, while someone prepares a post on liberal playing the victimhood card.
That's true. As Mr. Toto writes about the entertainment industry, he probably should not have used Republican senators for comparison. The problem is that there are so few conservative celebrities. You could compare Foxx to, for example, Mel Gibson's anti-semitic outburst (although Gibson is not a political conservative, he is conservative in his religion.)
I repeat … how is "little white b*tch" any different than "nappy headed 'ho"? I'll give you hint … how is Don Imus different than Jamie Foxx?
Wow- Jamie Foxx, my new hero! A great role model for America's youth!!
A few of his inspiring quotes to a 16 year old girl:
I'll bet your daughter is very proud of her dad!
Just like Michelle Obama, another proud, black American!
Write your comment here…
Not to mention Mr. Foxx is insulting one specific person, whereas Gibson was impugning an entire group of people who have suffered just a wee bit more persecution that Miley Cyrus. Plus it fit the (in my opinion bogus) narrative of Gibson promoting anti-Semitic views in The Passion. Jamie Foxx just made a bad joke. I don't think there's been a series of stories about Jamie Foxx's bigotry when it comes to underaged media superstars. But maybe I missed Hillary Duff diatribe.
Well, he's a lot less talented, for starters.
oops! a smackdown… sorry…
Nothing to see here…….move on.
Never happen. Nothing to see here. Move on.
Typical leftist non-response. I won't waste any more time with you.
[...] Apology Accepted, When You’re a Democrat [...]
Dead on. When you have no standards, it's okay to tell a pop princess to join you in your amoral debauchery, but when you DO have standards, suddenly you're Hitler for calling the WNBA a bunch of nappy-headed hos.
You are right, of course. It's MY brain that's fuzzy and addled, after years of liberal double-talk.
Oh yeah, definitely nobody reading this site. Must be why you came over here, deadbeat.
Oh, yeah. He's white. But here's the difference — Imus's show was considered a serious place for political discourse. His guests included the biggest political players from both parties, and he made a highly questionable remark. I guarantee you that if, say, Tavis Smiley, said something like what Foxx said, he'd be in huge, huge trouble.
But, yeah, poor little Imus was just oppressed because the black man's keeping him down. Just go on feeling like an oppressed white, if that works for you.
Imus is no Republican, but he made the fatal mistake of going after Hillary Clinton for about a decade, which is why he was set upon by Media Matters, which has a far easier time get its protests heard by the big media outlets than, say, Newsbusters does when it goes after people on the left for their own violation of protocol.
You miss the point. Everyone says dumb thing, guys on both sides of the aisle. When Imus (white guy) ranks on the gals at Rutgers, he is fired. When Foxx (black guy) dumps on Miley, hey, he's sorry.
Funny thing: at the Oscars, Foxx always takes his teenage daughter. Wondering if she has the clap yet? Think he would find that funny?
Nobody reads this site, huh? Nice to meet you nobody, I'm nobody as well…
Perhaps Michelle is now really proud of America. That a black man can speak his mind freely, well that is pretty special.
I just don't understand what kind of grown man would go after a child, even in the name of "comedy", it's pathetic. I will make it loud and clear the only reason I'm seeing The Soloist is for Robert Downy Jr., maybe I'll make a button…
What Imus said was stupid! What Foxx said was disgusting!
Since the Liberal PC Nazis had no problem sending out there Pet Attack Dog Al Sharpton to try and absolutely destroy Imus's life and career. I think that it would only be fair for someone like Bill O'Rielly to call for a boycott of all things Jamie Foxx.
To make it fair treatment Mr ORielly should bash and denigrate Mr Foxx until he admits he is scum and then gets help for his obvious racial and sexual issues. Then he needs to offer an apology to Miss Cyrus and all women at least a dozen times. This would still be less than Imus had to do for his retarded statement but Liberals are not about fair treatment are they! Unless of course it suits there needs
Not in least bit oppressed (or repressed for that matter). I simply find hypocrisy distasteful. I understand that concept will be difficult for you to comprehend as hypocrisy is milk and honey to the leftist. Hypocrisy and hurling groundless accusations are the mainstays of leftist rhetorical skills. Nicely illustrated by your disingenuous suggestion that I even hinted Imus was oppressed. Thanks for making it so easy for me.
You're argument is specious. They are both entertainment professionals. Surely you've noticed the blurring between entertainment and informational media. They've even coined a term for it: infotainment. Look it up.
The remark was beyond the pale. And yes, I did say that. It's a politically-correct no-no, even if it has nothing to do with race, color, creed, national origin or prior condition of servitude.
Don't you mean "MoveOn.org?"
And Imus has better eyebrows. Bigger, anyway.
So that's Foxx's idea of what it means to grow up. Make a sex tape.
Maybe Obama will appoint him the position of America's Youth Czar – he can let Leno announce it.
You're right. He's not a politician. He's worse. He's a pampered, loud-mouth, obscene jerk with a bigger following than any of those politicians you named. But it's OK, because now he's a sorry jerk.
What makes you think he can read? He saw a picture of his beloved Jamie Foxx, and rushed to a site he knew would be hostile, and dicated his magnum opus to one of his fellow trolls.
Two thumbs up!
When a liberal entertainer like Foxx is hateful and ugly, it's righteous. Wonder what that says about his apologists. I guess behind all those laughs there's a really nasty little man.
Oh, well, this was fun but now I'm the one who has to blow.
But rightwingers accusing liberals of hypocrisy (why? whose defending Foxx here?) as your brethren suddenly rediscover the constitution they've been eagerly cheering the destruction of, because now they think a Democrat is doing it, is a real freakin' doozy, I've got to say. Bye now.
Hmm, that's true, actually it wouldn't be surprising at all.
For the record, I didn't question anyone's defense of Foxx. To repeat, yet again …
How is "little white b*tch" any less racist and repugnant than "nappy headed 'ho"?
Bob and Patrick,
Hmmmm. The issue is not about whether or not Foxx is running for office or if he's a commentator…it's about his character (or, if we're calling this a momentary lapse, his judgement) or lack thereof. The "it's a comedy" or "he's just a comedian" defense is weak and the fact that many will accept that as an excuse for the behavior demonstrates just how far we have allowed our culture to slip down the ladder of moral turpitude. It is regrettable that such a large portion of the population (to include our youth) are swayed and influenced by the words and actions of our entertainers – even more so than by the words of our politicians.
SHE'S…. A 16 YEAR OLD GIRL and I….used to be a fan of Jamie Foxx.
Well, they're both pretty awful, and there's really a significant difference (did I say there was?), but we were discussing why Foxx will likely get off easier. Because he's an actor and not expected to have great thoughts on this stuff — as bad as what he said was, it was extracurricular bad behavior. Imus's actual job was pontificating on matters of importance with bigwigs, so while there's no defending anyone's remarks, what Foxx said was a lot less important to his job description than what Imus said was to his.
But I'm sure you guys will find a way to misconstrue this too.
Double standards abound when it comes to left VS right.
Line up your guys and then line up the R guys. It ain't even close dude!!!!!!!!!
Foxx is an idiot to even think the crap he thinks, especially when he actually thinks it's funny. Also, at the ACM awards on April 5, he being a guest presenter…..only artist at the entire event that had to bring up Obama and his adoring love for the Black Man. Give me a break. No other person mentioned a single thing political. Hollywood. Puke.
I'm not so sure I agree about Don Imus. Imus brought it on himself…but not by his "nappy headed hos" comment.
What really sealed his fate was when he went cap-in-hand to Al Sharpton, seeking absolution.
Sharpton didn't want to grant Imus absolution. He wanted a trophy for his wall.
Didn't Imus know that?
You thought the original shock jock's actual job was pontificating on matters of importance?
Oh dear, I'm afraid our differences go well beyond anything so trivial as political ideology.
By the way, thanks for adding to my collection of groundless accusations hurled by leftists. I've been looking for new examples in the preemptive groundless accusation sub-species and this fits the bill beautifully … But I'm sure you guys will find a way to misconstrue this too.
Really, you're making this way too easy ..
You've been deleted. You should be proud!!
In this rare case, bigger isn't better.
But then Don Imus was just joking too.
All you need to know about Foxx's moral caliber was revealed in an interview last year. He said that now he was rich, he never let a pair of white boys into a party at his house. One had to leave. This is because in his youth he was hired to play piano at some rich white person's house, and when he showed up with a friend, the friend was asked to leave. Note that Mr Foxx did not actually stand by his friend and leave with him. He proudly stated that anecdote to show his disdain for whitey, when in fact it was much more revealing of his own character, or lack thereof.

Let me be the first to agree that you are a nobody.
"that by having standards and ethics Conservatives set themselves up for a fall."
There's a lesson in that. Not just for politics, but for survival itself.

Because we live in Obamaland, the home of unilateral indignation.
Imus had to do obeisance to Al Sharpton for the horror of what he said. So who does Foxx have to kneel to–Carrot Top? Or maybe Pee Wee Herman? All hope abandon, ye who enter here.
Somehow I can't think I'll lose too much sleep over not being able to go to Foxx's house. You see, I'm a bigot. I don't socialize with people who have two Xs in their names.
I'd like to say I don't socialize with people who have two X chromosomes, but I just love white (starts with "b" and ends with "itches") too much, especially ones with big gums. Not Miley, mind you. Ones over 18.
This is not a black or white thing per se. It has to do with the hierarchy of victimhood. If you wrong someone lower on the hierarchy than you, then an apology is all that it takes. If you wrong someone higher on the hierarchy than you, no apology is possible. Foxx is black, Miley is white, and also vaguely wholesome, therefore he is higher on the victim scale. Dom Imus is white and vaguely leftoid. if he had insulted a Republican, the apology would have been fine, since he insulted someone who was a bigger victim than him, apologizing wasn't enough.
Aw, shucks. Now you have to apologize to Lamie Foxx. At least you didn't insult his mama.
Oh Bob. You were doing so good with the pretentiousness and superiority complex in your first post.
Then, you lay this turd that completely dodges a fair question posed to you.
Check minus for you!
And there's a whole bunch of young people who don't know who any politician is. And if they do, they don't want to be cool like Senator Snort or Congressman Oldfart. They want to be cool like Jamie Foxx. That's why his filthy comments were so objectionable and so well-deserving of immediate censure. But he won't miss a beat. Is there a Hollywood ethics committee to discipline him? Will Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson rush to counsel him? Will any white commentator demand he come on an entertainment show and be subjected to humiliating rejection of his non-apology apology? Hell, no. A week from now, nobody will be reminded that this foul-mouthed clown ever did anything wrong.
I want to be the sensitivity trainer. I've been waiting for years to be the guy who puts a jar of jellybeans in front of a black bigot and asks him why the white jellybeans get stuck in the bottom of the jar. I've been lusting for this opportunity since the day Texaco caved in to the racial victim hucksters.
Just turn your tv's off! For some reason you all keep tuning into this CRAP and listen to everyone they happen to put a microphone in front of. Left or Right doesn't matter. We've all been so de-sensitized that we have to debate as to who should apologize and how they should do it? Give me a break! I'll bet more than half of the people up in arms about this Foxx thing will be at the movie theater watching his next movie.
"The same thing happened when President Barack Obama made an ugly crack about Special Olympics athletes on the very same “Tonight Show” venue. One apology later, all is forgiven."
But wait, Obama is making up for it by touring the world–apologizing for President Bush and for all of America's evils.
Miley is a white girl from the South who doesn't mind speaking publicly about her Christian faith — just another obvious American redneck racist who gets what she deserves from the entertainment personalities and the press.
Just like with Brittney Speares when she was proud to be a virgin and until she became more respectable as a freak.
I'm glad we have someone like Foxx out there demonstrating for us so clearly who is in the right and who is in the wrong.
Nobody reads this site? Are you nuts? For whom did you vote?
Well stated!
we thought it was kinda funny- it was. Still, you have to have standards in this world…
Boycott EVERYTHING to do with Hollywood. Don't give them one more cent of your hard earned money. See how they like living without the working mans dollar. Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen, Barbra streisand, Tim Robbins and his ugly live in Susan Sarandon. They've all LIED to the American Public by making us believe that they're NICE, NORMAL people for a LONG time. That is until they accumulated enough money to be able to tell us that they don't NEED our steenking money or opinions. Well don't give them anymore money, period.
BTW, remember Michael Richards? AKA Kramer from Seinfeld, how far did an apology get him? Not far at all. Why, because he's white that's why and we all know that only "bruthas" can say the N word.
Yeah, what is it with all the Czar's being appointed. Is Russian on the comeback trail or what?
No need to do this. The POTUS is going to take all of the RICH folks money via taxes.
Problem solved.
Bob Westal wrote:

Actually, Smiley's committed a worse sin: he dared to QUESTION President Obama's motives and abilities. Thus, Smiley and other skeptical Black Democrats like him are branded worse than those "evil" White Republicans.
The following links further explore this double standard:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti...
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/postpartisan/200...
So, according to the PC police, Jamie Foxx can demonize a little White girl, but not a full grown Black man like Obama.
Talk about double standards.
How petty and one sided can the vast majority of Democrates be. Hey folks I am a registered Democrate and I must appoligize for the one sided standards and oppression being forced upon the people of this great nation. I can hold my head high and say I did not vote for Obama for I was able to read the man for what he really is and what his capabilites were which will enable him to destroy the sacred values of this country. He said CHANGE, I see not change how many Clinton clonies are on his staff now. You can have the Change, I will keep my guns, my hard earned money, my religious beliefs and freedoms.
Jamie Foxx is Black Trash, plain and simple. However; we DO still have the first amendment… for now.
//Is it really so ridiculous to have different standards for entertainers than for politicians?///
Michael Richards & Mel Gibson had no comment.
////. I guarantee you that if, say, Tavis Smiley, said something like what Foxx said, he'd be in huge, huge trouble. ////
Tavis Smiley said "Bush in Texas is nothing more than a serial killer". He got in so little trouble (none) that I bet you never even heard about that, did you?
Now, imagine if Glenn Beck said that today.
the only apology that will count will be when Jamie Foxx has to apologize for the poor opening and box office results when his movie is boycotted. This is one fan he lost…I have 2 daughters and there is nothing he can say to make me understand this type of "comedy".
a "czar" will have no accountability to congress, or the people. the primary purpose of the "czar" will be to think up new ways to implement the policies that have already green lighted by beloved leader. and to fall on the sword if they prove to be unpopular, to provide cover for beloved leader.
Well, Smiley is an equal opportunity offender. A year ago, he was forced of his radio talk show after he (gasp!) said that then candidate Obama should be held to the same standard as everyone else.
Amazingly, Smiley REFUSES to stop questioning Obama's motives:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti...
I guess Smiley is now a "right wing extremist."
Blogger Gina McCauley tears Jamie Foxx a new one for attacking Miley Cyrus. Read the following post, "Blame it on the Alcohol: Jay Leno Hypocrite-in-Chief- Supposing Miley Cyrus was a Member of a Certain Basketball Team":
http://www.whataboutourdaughters.com/2009/04/blam...
Ms. McCauley is a reminder than there are Black people who are just at disgusted by Foxx's remarks as everyone else.
ON THIS SITE THE ISSUE YOU ALL HAVE IS THAT A MAN WITH DARKER SKIN WAS ELECTED TO THE WHITEHOUSE AND IT WASN'T JUST BLACK PEOPLE WHO DID IT. FACE IT THE REPUBLICANS ARE THE MINORITY NOW AND UNLESS YOUR IDEALOGY CHANGES………DEMOCRATS WILL KEEP THE WHITEHOUSE. FROM ALL THE RACIST COMMENTS ON THIS SITE, HOW WOULD YOU EXPECT A MINORITY TO THINK THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS INCLUSIVE.
TRY AGAIN!
um….. please re-read your opening sentence…. and then think about what you wrote directly after it.
because that's EXACTLY what you did following it. How is THAT different from the supposed "conservative victimhood"? i seriously want to know.
*btw, i'm a raving liberal and think that Foxx's comments were crude and out of line, and he should be treated EXACTLY how Imus and anyone else who makes a "racist" comment (Rev. Al should be marching right outside his studio about now, no?)
Wonder what Foxx would do if people started ripping HIS daughter "humorously" apart on the radio…would he GET the jokes?
I don't think its quite the same thing to compare Foxx to sitting politicians. Better to compare his outburst to Dog the Bounty Hunter's outburst. I thought Foxx's comment was awful, and it would serve him right if his radio shows' advertisers got slammed with boycott threats (Has that happened? And add me to those who had no idea Foxx HAD a radio show) As a black female with hair-that-has-known-no-processing since the 80's I was mildly offended by Imus' comment but thought people went way overboard in their response. But like Dog, the Bounty Hunter, Imus' show was on a major network that a lot of people watched. Like Imus, he got fired, now he's back and doing fine. Foxx doesn't really have a steady gig to be fired from. His slamming Miley Cyrus may limit his employment by the Disney Corporation, but not much else. Having seen the trailer for "The Soloist" more times than necessary, I think it fair to say Foxx will be ultimately truly humbled by audience (non)attendance.

Damn. I liked "Collateral" and was looking forward to buying the Blu Ray. Now he spoiled it for me.
Well, it´s your freaking industry, Foxx, not mine.
I think Jamie Foxx is jealous of all the attention Miley Cyrus is getting. He shouldn't be though. He had his reign as America's sweetheart when he played Wanda on In Living Color.
This proves what we all know.. Jamies Foxx is trash and wants to pull the rest of the world down with him.
WAKE UP, PEOPLE…Vile, racist, slime balls like Foxx get away with this crap because you all can sit here and complain how horrible his remarks were, but HOW MANY OF YOU CALLED, EMAILED OR WROTE SIRIUS AND DEMANDED THAT THEY FIRE HIM???!!??? I did. It's easy. & it feels real good!!! YOU SHOULD TRY IT!!!!
