Et tu, Kid Rock?
by Christian TotoWasn’t Kid Rock one of the few pop stars not to pledge allegiance to the destruction of President Bush?
The Bush daughters even wanted him to play at the 2005 presidential inauguration concert.
Now, it seems Kid Rock is going all bipartisan on us. He’s expected to be one of the performers at the Youth Inaugural Ball, to be broadcast tomorrow night (Jan. 20) on MTV.
What happened?
Well, maybe he’s smarter than we all thought. Don’t celebrities realize when they align themselves so vocally to one party they potentially alienate those who support the other party? You know, roughly half the country.
Kid Rock isn’t hailed as a genius, but he’s smart enough to know he shouldn’t mouth off about politics.
So expect some grungy rock tomorrow night and hopefully he’ll stay true to his word and let his guitar speak for him.

Kid Rock isn’t stupid. He’s not going to go out and alienate his audience by spouting off political babble. He’d be foolish to pass on a chance to perform on Mtv.
Fred, just because he’s not your cup o’ tea doesn’t warrant your hate of an artist you obviously know nothing about.
Kid Rock is merely ensuring he can maintain his “money for nuthin’ and chicks for free” lifestyle, which for him is way way way more important than political stances or personal integrity.

That highlights the difference between the left and the right in general. We would sing at Obama’s or Clinton’s inaugural because he’s the President and when the President requests something like that you do it. Bush is “illegitimate” and evil and to be ignored. Not one of those folks (maybe Bono and U2) would show up if Bush had asked them to.

Right, Kid Rock is not grunge: He’s just about every modern pop music style but grunge. But he does in fact dress grunge. And after you see him play, you do feel like you just witnessed “grungy rock.”
So, Bono “wouldn’t show up for Bush”? The same Bono that has repeatedly praised Bush for his AIDS initiatives in Africa? If you guys are going to employ sloganeering by reflex, at least get some of your facts straight.
I think that I could see this comming, since CMT has propped him up as a country singer (which he is far from). CMT is doing a disservice to county music. There are too many gay shows on that channel now. But my point to all this dribble is that CMT (country music television) which used to air the Dukes of Hazzard is owned by MTV, obamas media channel. Figures, I couldn’t see how a guy from detroit could be country.

No offense, Christian, but you are late to the game on the phony, Kid Rock a/k/a Bob Ritchie. He got on the Obandwagon and said he admired Obama during the summer.
Not sure why conservatives continue to worship this former drug dealer (Rock/Ritchie) who glorifies and modeled his whole act on White Boy Rick, a convicted drug kingpin who was responsible for the deaths of a lot of people in Detroit. Rock even tried to get him out of prison early so they could smoke pot together. A real conservative role model, this guy. He glorifies pimps, drug dealers, and criminals, and praised Bill Clinton in Rolling Stone. More details here:

He’s actually been a huge supporter of the troops. Sorry that doesn’t mean much to you.
His music isn’t my style and I don’t care enough to delve into his personal life, but at least give the man props for going over and boosting troop morale when so few performers want to risk being associated with an allegedly unpopular war.
Perhaps hes doing it for the publicity which will turn into album sales. Just because he was there doesnt mean he agrees with Obama’s politics.

The fact is, conservatives don’t “worship” Kid Rock. Some of us like him because, amongst other reasons, he called M.M.’s F911 “propaganda” in front of his liberal friends and wouldn’t watch the film with them.

I saw Kid Rock in concert in 1999, and he put on a great show. He played all the instruments (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, and turn-tables) and put out a lot of effort.

Kid Rock is for adults only. No kids, please. I can’t explain it, but I find him very attractive … nothing I would admit in public … OK, I can explain it. It’s basic. That’s all.
So, Kid Rock is right for supporting the president, but when he wants to play some stupid inaguration ball on MTV for Obama he’s all of a sudden bi-partisan? Hypocrite much, Christian?
