The Real Meaning of the 4th of July is Revolution
by Chris BurgardTwo hundred and thirty-three years ago, fifty six of our forefathers signed their names to the Declaration of Independence. They brought forth a new nation conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
They started a war. My ancestor, Francis Lightfoot Lee was one of those men. They started the revolution that birthed this nation.
Now we are engaged at a crossroads of history, testing whether the leaders of this nation so conceived and dedicated, still hold those same truths and ideals to be self-evident.
Iranian citizens have taken to the streets of their cities in the pursuit of freedom and liberty. They sought, and deserved, their own revolution. The Iranian government murdered and persecuted them for it. Our government voted present.
Manuel Zelaya attempted to trample the Honduran Constitution and follow in the footsteps of his communist brother: Hugo Chavez. In the face of such tyranny, the Honduran people rose up in a revolution of their own and sent their King George packing. Within hours, the same US government that dared not meddle in the affairs of the Iranians, sponsored a United Nations Resolution condemning the Honduran people for resisting the spread of communism.
We will meet in the next few days to drink beer, eat hotdogs and enjoy multitudes of pyrotechnic displays reminiscent of the rockets red glare and the attack on Fort McHenry.
Let us also take a moment to remember Neda and all those who are suffering in the quest for freedom. The Honduran Congress had the might of its military to deal with a would be dictator. Would the situation in Iran be different today if her citizens were armed as we Americans are under the Second Amendment? Would the Iranian Basij Militiaman who murdered Neda have ridden so confidently into that crowd if he knew that he faced a citizenry able to defend itself?
I have the freedom today to write this article because on April 19, 1775 a handful of armed farmers and merchants stood and held their ground against the greatest super power on the planet. When the Minutemen stood at Concord’s North Bridge and fired the shot heard around the world, they forever changed the course of history.
That moment brought the audacity of hope to the people of Honduras and it should be cherished by Americans. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this on this 4th of July weekend.
But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate this weekend, we cannot hallow our history if we don’t remember the true meaning of our country’s birth: Revolution. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The Saul Alinskys and the William Ayers of the world will mourn the loss of Manuel Zelaya and all that he represents, but those of us that are proud of our American heritage will pass on the Dreams of Our Fathers to our children this weekend and every day to come for the rest of our lives. We here highly resolve that all of those who have given their lives for the preservation of freedom shall not have died in vain, that this nation, under God, shall continue on in freedom, and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.

Chris, very well put. Meddling in the affairs of another country.. why would we do that? We would rather parade around the world apologzing for our transgressions….We the people need to stand against what is going on IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!!!!!
Happy and safe 4th of July to everyone!
Revolution? Sounds good to me. So when do we march on Washington?
you gave me chills. i have heard it said many times today and it bears repeating: may god bless america.
March on Washington? I'm ready. Let's roll.
Those fifty-six men, knowingly signed their name to a death warrant. How many of us today would do the same thing? I would. I hope it does not come to that.
Count me in for a march. I've had a good life, and I'm only 48 but if it comes to that, I will
fight for what my ancestors created.
this thought is not far from my mind these days. may god protect those willing to stand. (and brother, i believe that by voicing our opposition we may very well be signing our own. so be it.)
me too, I'm in…I just hafta be back for the fall term, I graduate in december. Can we overthrown the despotic Obama regime in two months? I bet we can….
I knew what this president was before about he was elected. Even Hilary has "disappeared." Remember when people said "Oh, he'll never pick her for vice-president b/c she will be too powerful? I remember.
Sarah, basically assasinated…by MSM and Vanity Fair hit piece. Ask yourselves, what for?
And this despotic regime that is call the Obama administration will continue to clamp down on negative press killing the First amendment and figure out ways to circumvent the Constitution that they wipe their noses with and kill the Second amendment while they are at it…
Jamesb, I think the proper response to your question is, "Yes We Can! "
Sept 12 – National Tea Party in Washington DC
I would tend to think that the administration will ABOLISH the 2nd amendment first!!!
It's all well and good to talk about laying down our lives, but before things reach that improbable state, how many of us are ready to lay down a few evenings a month to work with your local government, where you have a chance to influence the people who will eventually be representing our respective states in the congress, or directing policy as our cheif executive.
How about that for a way to show your patriotism this 4th of July. Make a committment to get involved where it will really matter. Emulate the Gipper and teach the new generation what it means to be a true conservative.
I wish everyone would remember that it's not the date that we're celebrating!!!! It's INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!
Sept 12 – Tea Party day in Washington DC Nov 9-14 Continental Congress convening in Washingon DC (see givemeliberty.org)

The elite crowd would have you believe that your opinion is that of a rube in a cowboy hat. But it is they who are uninformed in the ways of the world. Having been a G.I. in the pre-unified Germany, I visited East Berlin on several occasions. On each and every visit I got inquiries from East German citizens on when the hell we were going to knock down the wall and free them from their Soviet oppressors. Similarly, traveling throughout Central America, I have met many people with similar desires. One man in Belize in particular told me "the U.S could us all their money, it will be stolen and never get to the people and projects that need it." He went on to say "I would have no problem with the U.S. Marines landing on our beach and planting the Stars and Stripes to make us the 51st state." Obviously, we cannot make right all the worlds wrongs, but apparently under the current administration the opinions of those comfortably residiing in Social Democracies and U.N. criminals are more important than the voices of the oppressed. Recent U.S. positions of passive or active support of Dictators are shameful.
Exactly why I'm going to a TEA Party tomorrow here in my town: to get more involved, try to speak at least local representatives. Then I'm moving on from there. Start local, then start moving up the chain, so to speak. In Christianity, we have a concept called putting feet on your faith. In this case, I'm trying putting feet on my beliefs and political views.
I hate to be the "nit picker" but the battle or skirmish was at Lexington Green a commons area where the two sides faced up against each other and a shot was fired, it's not known by who and in an instance seven American rebels lay dead and nine wounded…for what it's worth…
Planet Hero,
Who said anything about using violence???? Just what planet are you on, dude?
I was born in, (now broke), sunny Kalifornia, in the outer 'burbs of the bay area. I wasn’t all that interested in firearms in my yute to tell the truth.
I was taught about American history the old fashioned way. That we rule.
I joined the Marines in 1967 right out of high school. When I returned from my tour in Nam, I still wasn’t that interested in owning a gun. (I had enough of guns by then).
Not until Nov 4, 2008 did I begin to start buying any firearms.
I saw the “writing on the wall” months before the election, and what I saw coming scared the bejesus out of me.
I immediately began to prepare myself, just as many people prepare for the “big one” here in Cali.
From last fall, till this today, once or twice a week a UPS truck would pull into my driveway and give me my latest necessity that I’d ordered online the week before.
Thousands of rounds of ammo, bipods, pistol and rifle magazines, red dot sights, laser targeting systems, advanced first aid kits, all the latest “home protection” equipment I could afford. And, of course, lots and lots of legal handguns, semi-auto rifles and shotguns.
I’m no “gun nut” by any stretch of the imagination.
But, I can see “unpleasant” events happening in our Nations future.
I am not much of a praying kind of guy, but I pray that we never have to protect ourselves from our own Government.
But, I’m ready now, if it comes to that.
Prepare now for the “zombie apocalypse”
Nuff said on the matter.
Not Over.
"Manuel Zelaya attempted to trample the Honduran Constitution and follow in the footsteps of his communist brother: Hugo Chavez. In the face of such tyranny, the Honduran people rose up in a revolution of their own and sent their King George packing."
Translation: the military decided to depose a democratically-elected leader.
Get your facts straight. The Honduran military acted on (Honduran) constitutionally legal orders from the Honduran Supreme Court. The Honduran constitution foresaw the type circumvention Zelaya was attempting and has encoded in it a method to stop it. Everything was legal according to Honduran law.
oh Ally, I've seen a post or two from Planet Hero before. He fancies him (her?) self this wonderful, wise, cosmic, traveler. Essentially, he has declared himself a legend in his own mind and in reality he (she) is something far less than "all that." I think actually planet hero is a standard issue liberal.
"Stop acting like patriots and start acting like adults."
What?
If you are a patriot, a person who loves his country, you are not acting like an adult? What then is the definition of being an adult? Someone who is supine to the political order? Who just gives in when the entire tenor and direction of the country for over 200 years is to be changed and to be more like what?…what we all left 300 years ago? Is it acting like an adult to not oppose the seizure of the financial centers of the country? Am I an adult if I agree to the seizure of the manufacturing centers of our country? Is it acting like an adult to oppose our president when he sides with the likes of Chavez, Castro and Ortega against a small country trying to maintain their constitution and meanwhile saying nothing when another country is shooting young women in the street (when they aren't stoning them or hanging them).
Excuse me for saying…no, that is not being an adult, that is being a coward who has accepted the soft glove of despotism. Someone who would probably snitch on a neighbor for not being green enough.
If that indeed is happening, I will use vacation time to go down there and stand with my fellow Americans.
Once again, I am stymied by the Leftist mindset and worldview. Do you really, truly not understand all this, or are you just willfully ignoring the facts about Zelaya's wrongdoing? It's so simple to understand, yet you stumble over it. I don't get it.
Thanks for clearing that up for him. These people are upholding their own law, and the media in this country is portraying it as some sort of coup — disgusting.
"Jamesb"
If memory serves, the active revolutionaries involved only about 1% of the general population at the time. A population about about 4 million souls all tolled.
The rest were loyalists, stay at homes, or women and children.
1% took on the must powerful Army and Navy on earth…and after 6/7 years…we won.
Seems to me, it was worth it.
No disrespect to you intended.
Not Over.
How's that "Non-Violent" revolution in Iran working?
We fully intend on having our revolution at the ballot box in 2010 & 12. You and your Lib friends hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Adios, "King" Obamugabe.
Um, its frankly none of our business. Why don't you focus on helping out here at home instead of bringing up irrelevant stuff from clear across the globe?
We have domestic threats here (mostly right-wing nutjobs) that need to be dealt with. Iran can handle itself.
The government is the one with the standing army, Planet Hero. I could go get a good quality rake from thhe garage, for goodness sakes. Who do you think is in power.
BTW am Judge of Elections and Committeeperson. Am afraid that may not cut it in order to get this country on track and that scares me.
So you admit to being a "survivalist" nutjob with an arsenal of guns and ammo?
Turn it in now and seek help! You're more of a danger to America than "socialism" ever could be!
Oh please "Tennessee_Jed", you wouldn't know a "standard issue liberal" if one dragged you out of the swamp you backwoods moron.
allyHM, I am just responding to the tone of the Republican postings, which with very few exceptions seem to be calling for bloodshed.
These big babies are the ones who are talking "Revolution" because the REAL "Revolution" occurred at the ballot box in November of 2008 and they didn't like the results. Tough cookies.
This was before machine guns, FLIR technology, tracking devices, tanks, APCs, Blackhawk copters, drones, grenades, teargas, and the MYRIAD other technologies our troops have. This is what you idiots would be facing with your rusted assault rifles and Grampa's old goose gun… And you think you have a shot? Imbeciles!
You aren't talking about pushing back some guys in red coats with bad teeth, you're talking about throwing yourselves into a meat grinder that you cannot defeat, but if you insist… I won't be crying about your losses.
Oh, and stop using inflammatory terms like "revolution" before you light off some dead-ender nutjob and end up with another mass shooting, ok?
Buh-bye.
I think actually planet hero is a standard issue liberal.
…you wouldn't know a "standard issue liberal" if one dragged you out of the swamp you backwoods moron.
Point proven.
And that proves what, and how? Idiot.
"It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you." ~Dick Cheney
Adults go along with the results of elections even when they are, shall we say.. "Less than satisfactory".
Adults don't go crying about guns and violence when things don't go their way.
Adults talk things through instead of picking up weapons and threatening the other side.
Adults don't pretend that it's still 1776 and don't act like they stand a chance against modern military equipment, training, and tactics.
Adults don't cry about change, and they don't try to constantly maintain the status quo by force.
Adults aren't bullies and they don't try to strongarm people into thinking as they do.
Are you an adult? Judging by your rebuttal you still have a few grades to get through… Just sayin'
And your point is? Some jibberish about a rake, judging elections, and being afraid…
Try again, but slow down and say it so it makes sense this time.
I forgive you.
I don't need your forgiveness, son… Just your attention.
No, you'll be laughing your ass off and tossing back another G&T. We all know.
I was actually planning to duck and cover, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to down a G&T or two… Might calm the nerves a bit.
As for laughing, that's not really my bag. More like "shaking my head and mumbling 'idiots' beneath my breath" if anything…
They are willfully ignoring the facts.
I'll go with that. It's the only answer that really makes sense.
To them being an adult means screaming from the pulpits that George Bush is Hitler and Cheney is a war criminal. Think of spoiled brats in the back seat screaming "LET ME DRIVE, DADDY! I WANNA DRIVE!" – and now that one of them is driving they think they're all growed up.
Sorry that I am the only person on this forum who talks sense and isn't afraid to say it like it is 1GooDDaDDy…
As for military and police not doing their jobs, they can be tried for treason and desertion too. They swore an oath to protect against all enemies foreign AND domestic, and they had better damned well do what they swore to do or be prepared for some very harsh consequences! Look, when you sign up you pledge your life to the US and I don't care if it's your own BROTHER who is the "patriot" (Domestic Terrorist) you are sent to neutralize YOU DO YOUR DAMNED JOB, PERIOD END OF STORY!
They will either protect America or be tried for treason, that's that. Given that choice at least 90% of the US military and police will wake up, drop the gung-ho rhetoric, and do the right thing (which in this case is carry out their orders without hesitation and with the professionalism that is required). Those who refuse should be dragged behind the barracks and made an example of, sorry if that's cold but that's how it is.
My original assessment of this guy Planet Zero has been proven correct by the incredibly silly school yard "zinger" he sent me (makes me wonder if he used to get beat up at school or something.) He has some really incredible hatred in him (I can almost feel his blood boiling,) but not much in the way of actual logical or rational discussion. It is now time to ignore him since he has nothing worthwhile to say.
sweet!
sweet!
"Um, its frankly none of our business."
Good answer, you really told him. You were in the debate club in high school, weren't you?
yeah, I'd say I'm an adult. My father died when I was 13, and I started working after school and I've been working since then for the last 45 goddamn years. I served 4 years in the Marine Corps during Vietnam. I protested the war while in the service after coming back from a tour in Asia. I spent 3 months in prison for protesting that war while in the service and I bet you couldn't even name any protesters that spent more than 30 minutes. While in that process I met some of the stars of the anti-war set…they were uniformly self absorbed and interested only in how to best place themselves before the camera. That was my wake up call about the left. That was when I started reading about being a conservative, reading Buckley and Kirk.
I lived in the SF Bay Area through the 70s and 80s and saw how progressive politics ruined what was once a wonderful place. I raised 2 children, paying for private schools because the public system in Fremont put my son in a class taught by a Chinese woman who taught the class in Chinese because there were many Chinese students. When asked about how other students were to be taught, she didn't give a damn.
I have worked in particle physics, automotive electronics and semiconductors…I've paid one hell of a lot in taxes, state, federal and property. So, I have to disagree and say, I've earned my adult stripes.
Change is not to be abhorred, but stupid change is. Change that goes against what has worked is something to be argued and not something to just be done because some people wrote an article in Time or Atlantic and because they have a degree in the soft studies from Brown. And as to strong-arming…I would suggest you look in the mirror…who are the ones suggesting people who don't believe in AGW should be prosecuted? The one political area where no difference of opinion is allowed is in the liberal camp. The conservative arena has plenty of dissenting voices. In the liberal camp you're all afraid to speak out against anything that is off the main-line.
And as to the 1776 statement…we shouldn't dissent because Obama controls a a powerful military?…maybe he doesn't as mush as you might want to think.
Planet Hero. While I agree that we can enact change at the ballot box the fact remains that the system is getting gamed and tweaked so that real change has reached a crossroads. The system is so unbelievably filled with corruption.
How in the hell am I supposed to get Barney Frank or Chris Dodd out of office? Or Harry Reid? Taxpayers have been funding their elections which should be illegal. Why in the hell was Fannie and Freddie contributing money to any election? Their function is to qualify loan applicants to purchase homes. And thanks to Ms. errrr Mr. Frank they not only did a poor job they were perpetrators in the greatest fraud in American history…..at least until the Waxman Bill takes that torch and runs.
And the ACORN shenanigans? Again more taxpayer money influencing elections. Goldman Sachs. George Soros et al. Both the DNC and the GOP are guilty as sin. And the majority of Americans are so unbelievably ignorant to the realities because we have an media that is aligned with the leeches Inside The Beltway. American Idol, People Magazine and the plethora of numskull networking has sufficiently dumbed down the voter.
So those of us who concur with this writer in many ways are running out of options. 2010 will be a make or break election. If we fail to take the fire hose to Congress then don't be surprised if this movement gathers steam. The 10th Amendment will be pushed to the forefront of American Politics. And I guess those who think we have run the course may have to re-organize in states where the majority concur and consider taking our collective middle finger and show the Congressional "Leadership", Rahm Emmanuel and the residents at 1600 PA Ave. where to take their perverted vision of America.
You sir can join or stay put. That's America.
I will not live side by side with The Useless Idiots. God Bless America and those who died for my freedom. I will honor them if they day comes with the same sacrifice.
Planet Hero. Someone forgot to tell you that socialist does not equal genius. For decades, giddy college students have lined up for classes like "sustainable development" and "Marx and Marxism." I know, I was one of them. When I entered my PhD. program I took every college class related to Marxism and Communism. What I found were apologists for Stalin and Mao murdering tens of millions of people and a political ethics of "the ends justify the means." Are you capable of seeing that Marxism is nothing more than a justification to cause instability and a huge power grab by "marginalized' leftists? Or do you sincerely think that the United States is an exploiter of other countries, even though our military has liberated peoples all over the world from France, and Germany to Japan and South Korea? As far as our corporations "exploiting" foreign workers, how is offering impoverished people jobs "exploitation"? If you feel like you have the right to someone else's labor, then you support slavery, by definition. Most American people support FREEDOM. Not freedom from reality. Not freedom from work. Freedom from government and freedom of opportunity. So you have to convince people that freedom equals slavery. I know, I know. I'm brainwashed by "the man." That's why you have millions of "intellectuals" like yourself towing the party line on the left in the most predictable and doctrinaire manner on a daily basis. Have a Happy Dependence Day.
Your buddies in congress and our school systems didn't seem to have a problem with the term "revolution" in the 60s. Care to explain that? Care to explain why everybody back then was allowed to "question authority", or why it's okay for people mock and openly hate Bush the way they did on every form of media and entertainment available, but now you imply that we're juvenile, naive, and likely homicidal because we're on a CONSERVATIVE website discussing our views and opinions.
Based on your comments above, you have nothing that you believe in or see worth fighting for, and to the vast majority of people you'll ever meet, that makes you the furthest you could EVER get from being an adult.
People have died "not minding their own business" to make sure that you have the freedom to troll websites and speak your mind, as clearly wrong as you are on every level. Go back under your bridge.
"Planet Hero",
When you taxes increase astronomically to cover the cost of the bail outs and the proposed national health care system, tell me all about your "revolution" then and how it's working out for you, K?
Miles, how could you propagate the lies from the leftist media? The Honduran people have the right to live in a normal country, not in a third world basketcase. The enacted a Constitution for a reason, to protect themselves from DESPOTS. But I know the socialist mindset. I once talked to a professor from the socialist London School of Economics about the "rule of law" and she questioned whether such a thing was desirable. Are you freaking kidding me, leftists? All the left wants is power. Pure unadulterated power. Socialists think they are heroes of the people, but they always turn about to be paternalistic oppressors.
Honduras is one of the poorest countries – and the Organization of American Socialists, the World Bank and all other internationalist bodies want to cause further economic damage. Very compassionate. The little socialist propaganda campaign is not working. It's called New Media. Check into it.
Adults are able to have rational discourse and not result to backhanded name-calling.
Adults stand up for what is right even when that position is unpopular with the sheeple.
Adults stand strong and resist when amoral, idiotic and/or oppressive policies are forced down their throats by the powers that be.
Adults don't "go along to get along" when doing that jeopardizes one's freedom.
Adults don't continue to attack the losing side long after the election is over.
Are you an adult? Just sayin'.

I've got news for you Planet Hollywood – if there is a civil war the army will do to the leftists what the Honduran people did to Zelaya. I know several soldiers. They detest leftist traitors to the Constitution and The Declaration of Independence. Don't fall into the trap of thinking our soldiers are a bunch of ignorant rednecks. They are patriotic volunteers, and therefore most know the political principles of this country and are ready to defend them.
Sarah Palin resigned the governorship of Alaska. Nobody knows yet why — perhaps there is a scandal lurking out there; perhaps the sixteenth ethics charge will stick; perhaps she or a member of her family has just been diagnosed with a severe illness; perhaps it's a ploy to run for president in 12; perhaps —
Whatever her reasons, I've never seen a person so horribly attacked. It was expected from the Democrats, but that the media — Couric, Gibson — and late night entertainers and fluff magazines — would join in the character assassination is unprecedented.
And that was why when I heard the news, I felt like someone had hit me in the gut with their fist. Because when I heard the announcement, on July 3, the day before Independence Day, it occurred to me that Khrushchev was right all those years ago when he said "we will bury you". But it wasn't the USSR that provided the shovels; it was our own naivete when we stupidly elected an avowed Marxist who said "who are you going to believe? Me or your lying ears?" We believed him and now our banks are nationalized, our car companies are owned by the government, our "elected" representatives pass bills they haven't read that will destroy American prosperity and we're like "whoa, wha' happen?"
It must be painful to be so much smarter than people who disagree with you…
When freedoms are squelched, when governments become despotic, when czars are appointed by an "anointed king" in a supposedly free and democratic Constitutional Republic without the involvment of the citizenry, sometimes "revolution" is necessary–violent or otherwise. And dare you call our founding fathers children by implication because they took up arms against their set of despots? You Planet Hero neither speak for the planet nor are you a hero. You would think yourself so, but you are as deluded as your leader in Washington DC and his cronies. God Bless you with the wisdom you so sorely lack at this moment. God, make it quick!
People like Planet Hero are a mark of our times. They are either cynical side-liners who appear at all political sites, both left and right, and voice their unserious comments in order to draw out emotional comment, and then sit back and think themselves superior for never having surrendered to belief in anything.
Those types are meaningless and like the ephemera they live for a few hours and die.
The other interpretation is that they really mean what they say. And in that case they are beyond Marxist and Leninist; they are for the cauldron of anarchy. They are comic book readers, and there in is their touchstone and understanding. They imagine themselves in the Matrix and heroic. They probably have no real understanding of what it takes to deliver food to their neighborhood, nor how energy is assured. No doubt they abjure cars, but they ride buses and light transits, but have no idea where that energy comes from. They have no understanding that wind power is episodic, but demand isn't.
They just turn on the wall switch the and lights turn on. They believe in magic.
And yet…they seem to think that they are adults.
I am taking this turn of events a little personally as well because of genetic ties to the revolution. I'm a direct descendant of Samuel Adams (I wish this included stock in the company as well!
) My great-great grandmother was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, liberty bell necklace and all. ( My great grandmother couldn't join because at that time Native peoples couldn't be members along with other people of color) I love this country. It's not a perfect nation, certainly not recently, and at one time it was the premier beacon of freedom in the world. May God grant that she become so again. May we all ponder this weekend just how much we are all willing to give to return the US to the Constitutional Republic she was meant to be. Those who've taken the oath already know.
Look, I am sure that some military will be stupid enough to switch sides and be "patriots" (as you see it) but they won't be getting any support from me, or from the millions of other Americans who see violence as an abhorrent and childish way to change things.
We voted for a change in 2008, we got the change. Accept our votes or shut up about freedom from now on.
Drie…,
I am eligible for DAR and Colonial Dames. In fact, my great-aunt was the national president of Colonial Dames at one time. (I'm not descended from anyone famous, though.) My mother, God love her, is a liberal with BDS; makes for interesting times when we all get together. Somehow I eventually came out conservative, so I feel I can counteract Dear Mother's leftie-ness. Going to a TEA Party tomorrow to figure out just what I'm going to do with this strong motivation to rebel against the tide.
GrannieAnnie1,
Seriously? Do you have a website or more info on this? Like NeoConJedi, I'll take vacation time and go.
Ally: I don't think fame means anything. I think it's our willingness to stand. I too am from an uber liberal family! We are blacksheep!!
Going to a tea party myself, heat and all! God Bless you and God Bless our country. Let's pray for each other's families!
Drie,
How cool to meet another one! Blacksheep, that is. Yes, let's do pray for each other and each other's families! Not that it matters, but out of curiosity, I'm an orthodox (conservative) Anglican. You?
Y-o-u a-r-e w-e-a-k. Slow enough?
Jed! And I already sailed right into him before I saw your note! Oh, well….fair warned. Tx.
It doesn't matter what religion we are as long as we can agree on the basics: Jesus as savior. The Bible as the word of God. I am currently a 4 square church visitor but I've been a Baptist, Presbyterian, non-denominational, and base chapel member in times past. I am conservative in the vein that I believe what God says in His word and anything man might add to or take away from His word is folly. I love God more than I can express on this page simply because there is not enough room. I believe that He ordained America as much as He ordained Israel. If that makes sense!
Complete sense and right on target! I think you and I would get along "famously" in "real life"! We couldn't agree more.
Are you by any chance an actress as well?
Nicely said. What tipped us all off about Obama was when he mentioned his belief that all Americans had [sic] an inalienable right to economic equality. No, most everybody here is really talking about a counter revolution at the ballot box which should start with rallies, tea parties and marches. The current administration is lurching so far left so fast that we can begin to actually see him circumventing the constitution to achieve the socialist vision. As unthinkable as it is, circumventing the constitution could precipitate the unthinkable, I just believe it will not come to that.
Amateur: dancer first, singer second, actress if you make me.
Actually, I just finished the lead in a non-musical, first one in LOOOOOONG time. Our local civic theatre operates much like an Equity house even though we aren't paid (only the theatre staff, directors, choreographers and musicians are paid). Never was good enough to make it my profession, and I'm too old to go for it now.

Sorry, Planet Dork, but the military is only charged with carrying out LAWFUL orders. Maybe you should understand the military first before making uneducated posts.
If the orders of the military or the police is to round up everyone who ever voted Republican, or attends a Christian Church, or who owns a gun, then you can be sure that most in the military will NOT obey.
The military owes their ultimate allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and hence the PEOPLE, not to President Urkel.
So you're the reason my ammunition has gone up 2x-3x
The "um" is a signal you're talking to a teen-aged girl.
Planet Hero won't answer you. You frighten her.
Definitely a teenaged girl.
Her replies above: "Um." and "Buh-bye."
Don't judge who I am based on your fantasy life Mikey…
History is always written by the winners and little has been said about the true nature of 1776 – only about a third of tghe people actively supported the revolution, a third didn't care and the other third was loyal to the crown. And alo little is said that without the active help ofthe French the Revolution probably would have failed – indeed – it was the French navyt that bottled up the British Navy at Yorktown preventing the British form reinforcing their Army – Yorktown was the end of the Revolution and the birth of the United States.
All the signers had more to lose than gain by this act of treason.
"Of those 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine died of wounds or hardships during the war. Five were captured and imprisoned, in each case with brutal treatment. Several lost wives, sons or entire families. One lost his 13 children. Two wives were brutally treated. All were at one time or another the victims of manhunts and driven from their homes. Twelve signers had their homes completely burned. Seventeen lost everything they owned. Yet not one defected or went back on his pledged word. Their honor, and the nation they sacrificed so much to create, is still intact."

Thomas Jefferson said that "A little revolution now and then is a good thing". I'm waiting.
Haha!! I didn't even consider that…I just figured I wasn't speaking monosyllabically enough for them to understand me.
"Change is not to be abhorred, but stupid change is."
Come on, man, stop with the logic. You're going to hurt Hero's brain.
GrannieAnnie1, there is a big one planned for Sept. 12 on the Mall in DC. Glenn Beck's website has info on it.
“Those who refuse should be dragged behind the barracks and made an example of, sorry if that's cold but that's how it is”.
“…but they won't be getting any support from me, or from the millions of other Americans who see violence as an abhorrent and childish way to change things.”
One of those statements has to be a lie, no?

I guess that means that the people who live in the collar counties of Chicago (huge Messiah supporters by the way) are "survivalist nutjobs".
Handgun sales have gone through the roof in these affluent "Democrat" dominated counties since Dear Leader was elected! These are Doctors, Lawyers, Bankers and the like! Explain that, will you?
When I go to the range to shoot, I now see Soccer Mom mini-vans with Obama bumper stickers on them in the parking lot. Your theories are worhtless………….
And as long as crackpot's like you are free to roam the streets my loaded 40 cal. will sleep by my bedside every night………..The dogs will get you first, me second…………….
Ain't that the truth!
If, God forbid, all hell broke loose in this country, Planet Zero would be the first one pounding on our doors to save him or at least give him a gun…………..Guess that makes me a survivalist nutjob too………………
