The Russians, Arabs, Drug Cartels and our Southern Border
by Chris BurgardOn June 3rd Sara Carter and the Washington Times reported, “Al-Qaeda Eyes Anthrax Attack On U.S from Mexico.” The story is based on an Al-Qaeda recruitment video first broadcast back in February on Al Jazeera. In it, Kuwaiti dissident Abdullah al-Nafisi tells a roomful of people that Al-Qaeda is currently casing the U.S. border with Mexico to see how they could smuggle weapons through border tunnels and into the U.S. (Relax fellas, you don’t need to crawl through tunnels. I can show you whole unguarded roads that go across the river and into the U.S. … unless you really like crawling.)
Border Ranchers and Texas Law Enforcement have been warning of such a threat for years. For a long while now, ranchers and sheriffs have been reporting incidents of Middle Eastern human smuggling. For some Texas ranchers, stumbling upon Somalis, Eritreans, Bangladeshis or Iraqis is no longer surprising. Zapata County Sheriff Sigfried Gonzales had to reach out to the Israeli Mossad in order to identify Jihadist mercenary patches that were sewn into the inside of clothing recovered in the Texas brush.
I am still unclear as to why these warnings have gone unheeded until they were broadcast by Al Jazeera. Perhaps a rogue Kuwaiti cleric is simply more palpable and more credible to the mainstream media than American citizens and American law enforcement officials.
Americans seem surprised that the same guys smart enough to hijack four jets and use them as ballistic missiles are also broadcasting how their fighters could bring backpacks of anthrax through border tunnels into this country.
The American people need to know that global entrepreneurs and traffickers around the planet have been profiting from our security breaches for some time.
Not too long ago, a Texas rancher friend of mine came across two Bangladeshis. One fled back into the brush, the other gave up. He was done. He’d had enough. While they waited for almost two hours for Border Patrol to arrive, the Bangladeshi national told his story in perfect Oxford English.
He had gone to university in Bangladesh. His father paid the cartel smugglers $43,000. The young man was taken to Pakistan where he was flown to Russia. In Russia he boarded a flight with three hundred other illegal aliens bound for Guatemala. They were kept in Guatemala for a few months while they learned Spanish and were immersed in the culture. The cartel then brought them up through Mexico and into Texas where this Bangladeshi national was left to his own devices.
After stumbling around the South Texas brush for three days, he was ready to go home, but not until he had thoroughly voiced his disappointment with the cartel’s management. This was not the treatment he was expecting when his father forked over the $43,000.
Mexican Drug Cartels + Arab Black Marketeers + Russian Logisticians = ?
This is a global pipeline that can and will move whatever makes profit into the United States.
Please don’t worry that middle Eastern men of fighting age might someday sneak across our border. They’re already here.
We live in a world where 1 billion people a night go to bed without clean drinking water.
We live in a world where sworn enemies have vowed to take this country down.
We live in a country that leaves her back door wide open.

In Russia, border opens YOU!
Joking aside, I hope Obama pays more attention to guarding the southern border. Oh yeah, I forgot, to do so would be "racist."
Yes, on the unwashed but proud mexican farm worker sneaks across the border. It would be UNFAIR to signal them out and stop them from realizing the American dream, which as we all know, is free and guaranteed to anyone that wants it.
I fear it will take another 9/11 type incident to wake the American people up. We have become entirely too complacent. I blame the Democrats for downplaying the threat and accusing the right of warmongering, In the run up to WW II Roosevelt wanted to bring the US into the war but feared the citizens of the US would not support him. He was wrong. The current Administration does not want us in the War on Terrorism believing the Citizens would not support it. He will be proven wrong as well.
Well, we're not quite there on Obama's promise to have "one of the world's largest muslim populations", but he is working on it ! Would be nice if they were coming to go into business and be useful members of society, but what do you think they want from us ? Minutemen were right, the government doesn't give a damn, better do it yourself if there's property to be defended. We can still do that for the next couple hours…….
Better yet, just say they're from Iran or North Korea, pretty sure that is a protected species.
the porous nature of the Southern border is more than just poor campesinos trying for the American dream- we need those folk- but not the insane security breaches that have been happening… Al Qaeda is forming a Fifth Column in the US, slowly but surely- to strike at multiple targets at once, A dirty bomb here and there, bomb a couple of malls and sporting events- and watch the economy finally collapse… of course, then the Current Administation could declare martial law, deputize all the ACORN and SEIU workers, and adopt the euro… all in 72 hours.
So, maybe they aren't against all this as much as we might hope…
"Mexican Drug Cartels + Arab Black Marketeers + Russian Logisticians = ?"
Yep. Let's face it, the black market is the black market. In other words, it all boils down to power and money. Our borders are too porous and we have too many "santuary cities" in Texas to keep up with the traffic of illegal entrance into America.
I hope and pray that Homeland Secutiry and the Border Patrol are fully aware and have taken steps to defend us from this type of attack/assault.
And when that finally happens they will blame the Bush Administration for not leaving them with secured borders, regardless of when it actually happens.
Free to anyone except legal US citizens of course.
Thanks for writing this, Chris. I hope people read it. Going to Twitter it, etc. Always look forward to your insights and updates from the frontlines.
It all starts harmlessly enough with your little brat kids smoking pot, and their little brat parents smoking pot and creating a demand for smuggling etc… It's impractical to secure 1000 plus miles of border, but it is not impractical for every law abiding, sane American to carry a firearm or at least keep one in the house and one in the trunk of the car,.. just in case.
Hell, all of the arabs have Russian or Egyptian made Maudi-Ak-47's and RPG's, why shouldn't I have an M-16 and a law rocket or two?
we're sure you've noticed that 'Blame Bush' is leftist ideology 101- and will not go away any time soon.
The question is when will the public reject this nonsense?
Early fall, we predict…
better than a LAWS rocket is an M240… THAT should be not only legal but required in every law abiding citizen's home, along with 1,000 rounds and 100 40mm grenades (a nice mix would be HE, WP and AP- say 30,30 and 40)…
one can dream…
Ya, the M240, Perfect.
This is the ONE THING I want my government to have total control over (which is our borders.) Everything else, NO THANKS!!!
The sad thing about them putting the blame on Bush is when he tried to put up a fence, their voices were the loudest against it. It will cause environmental harm, it looks bad, it sets a poor example, etc… Now I ask you, looking at what Al Qaeda wants to do to all of us, what looks worse?
it is amongst the saddest thing the 'blame Bush' crowd does… so blinded by their ideological hatred of the man, they have both knowingly and unknowingly embraced and endorsed our adversaries- and enemies. If you do not believe you have enemies, or that others may want what you have (Duh!) you pose a far greater threat to our security than a nuclearized Iran. Or N. Korea.
There you have it. We have entered the 'no trust' zone, and we are there for at least the next four years…
What happend to "provide for the common defense"? I think border security would be a part of that … Guess not int he mind of the ijits on Washington. This makes me so mad when I live just down the road from that Southern border.
Right, the USA apparently owes the world everything it wants.
BTW-I don't think you can call this the BLACK market. People may be confused, and call you a racist.
My Marine buddies here in Pendleton tell me they can secure the border in 30 days or less, as long as they are allowed to actually do it.
GET OFF MY BORDER! *BOOM*
Oh no, shouldn't have said that. Now I'll end up on some watch list…
Unfortunately there is bi-partisan agreement to allow illegal aliens across the border. The Democrats welcome them because they will get the votes of their children and the Republicans welcome them because the downward pressure on wages pleases the businesses that employ them.
While I don't agree with much he has said, in this case, Ralph Nader was right, the Republicans and the Democrats are the different faces of the same coin.
The comments at the end of the article " we live in a world…….."
Thats the world omama has planned for us. I however will do
whatever it takes, not to live in that world.
You forgot white Europeans (Poland, Czech Rep, Ukraine etc) They wait in line like they are supposed to and then pay for the privilege of being an American. And the Europeans that don't do this are shipped back home immediately when they are caught. No three or four year appeals process, just a boot in the ass.
The left finds it a little easier to sympathise with the proud unwashed mexican farm worker…
I am trying to imagine what is going to happen in the USA if a mass anthrax attack occurs and butt-loads of Americans die, and how the American people will react.
I would not want to be a political leader or media stooge.
Wrong mix…40-20-40. You never know when you need to re-decorate. (Chuckle)
Sadly, you could have a bazooka and it won't do you much good against anthrax.
Sorry, Thorien. Only angry white men need to be watched.
Unless mud or jello is involved.
Business associate of mine in Los Angeles says the class riots will be coming in the next 6 months. Are you prepared for it? He is and I'm getting there. Damn, what are we doing to ourselves?
even if they couldn't they'd say they could- it's a Marine thing. Army Rangers are a more circumspect crowd. We would say 45 days and do it in 25…
[...] The Russians, Arabs, Drug Cartels and our Southern Border [...]
The open borders/sanctuary city idea works very well in San Francisco. Recently, an illegal immigrant went on a lengthy crime spree. The police arrested, the courts released. The DA wouldn't prosecute most of the crimes, and reduced several to minor misdemeanors. But nobody, and I mean nobody, ever considered reporting the illegal to the federal authorities. That is, until he committed a heinous murder. When the news came out on this blatant disregard for citizen safety, even goofy Mayor Newsom made an indignant public statement about it. No word yet on whether anything will come of it, but at least the DA filed murder charges. Pursuing that is of course another story entirely.
Makes sense if the state goes broke and can't afford to make entitlement payouts. It'll be even worse if they cut the police and fire departments ahead of time. You just know Arnie will call in the military and it'll be martial law for all of you too. The beginning of the end. I wonder if they'll try to clamp down beyond CA or just there.
They'll probably try to spin it into a great event for Mother Earth since there are a few hundred thousand less polluters out there doing all that polluting. They'll chalk it up as a win for Green Awareness and how Obama's policies really do result in dramatic, sustainable, and cost effective cuts to our greenhouse gas emissions…
I hope I'm only being sarcastic, these days it's hard to be sure though.
Honestly I'm tired of people pointing out that we have "the largest demilitarized borders in the world!" like that's something we should be proud of. It's an embarrassment actually. Defending the borders of the US was one of the primary reasons that Congress provided for a standing army. If there isn't the will to do that anymore then what's the point?
Honestly I think the border fence doesn't go far enough even. The southern border would be better served if it looked like the DMZ on the 38th parallel or the old Soviet-Finnish border circa 1982. Pretty? No. But you can bet that it'd be secure.
Terrorists have been busy for years in ways we don't normally think of them operating. Many of you probably remember this from a WND article in 2003:
"California authorities have confirmed some of the wildfires that have triggered the evacuation of about a million people and burned 1,600 structures with damages at more than $1 billion were set deliberately, and a terror watch organization says the circumstances match terror plans the FBI alerted law enforcement to several years ago."
"It was reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country," the advisory continued. "The detainee believed that significant damage to the U.S. economy would result and once it was realized that the fires were terrorist acts, U.S. citizens would put pressure on the U.S. government to change its policies."
This is just one of many reasons that our borders should be secured, but no one in "leadership" seems to be listening.
Thanks for writing this, Chris. Both parties of our do-nothing government will have a lot to answer for.
I live roughly 10 miles from the southern border, the local Border Patrol sector covers 120 miles. Every year they catch somewhere betweem 120 and 140,000 illegals in just that 120 mile stretch. They estimate at least that many are successfully sneaking in.
We also have a bombing range out in the desert between here and the border, every time they see someone on the range they have to halt operations and catch them. Last year the base commander said they lose a months training time during a year because of the number of times they have to shut down operartions.
The tunnels that are found are never found by the Border Patrol, Homeland Security or any other proper agency. The last one, as an example was found by some city public works employees trying to repair a water main.
If I'm not mistaken some of the 9/11 terrorist worshiped at a mosk in a town about 150 miles from my town. Folks the enemy is already here.
.
These problems have been well documented on the TownHall .com "American Sentry" columns. The danger to Americans from our southern border is real and needs to be addressed!
I live in North Carolina, and the amount of illegals working here is mind boggling. Their numbers have increased tenfold in the last 15 years. The local Wal Mart has special Mexican food sections in the store, just to meet the demand. If so many thousands of the "good" ones can get in, how many hundreds of terrorists are getting through too? It's a very sobering thought.
No doubt about it. They could do it in 15 days.
Every political prostitute unwilling to secure the borders and protect our sovereignty should be imprisoned. How many more Americans need to be murdered as a result of the anarchy on our border created by our elected officials dereliction of duty?
hello. how stupid are you after a college education to ask a cartel to get you somewhere you can get yourself for about a thousand dollars? i do not worry about these 'aggressors'. yes the border is wide open and should be an issue; about updating immigration services, but not at the expense of the taxpayer. howbout bring some of our 700 worldly military bases home and reassigning them to the border?
LOLz! I forgot about that. I just need to be reeducated by the femilesbians to redirect my anger to the patriarchy.
Hey, the more Mexican food available, the happier I am. But you make a great point. Letting in people who just want to GTFO of Mexico and work and make a better life over an open border also means letting in people who just want to blow us the F up.
Dude, I laughed so hard at that! Oh, but you forgot that enforcing our immigration laws is "unAmerican." Duh!
Dittos on the Mexican food- "¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!"
Good girl.
To me the most chilling point is that the terrorists are probably already here. Other commenters such as JB1000 have rightly pointed out that politics and political correctness keeps both political parties from doing what a majority of Americans want; more secure borders. Both parties don't want to be on the wrong side of an issue involving potential "Latina" voters, and to argue for more secure borders gets you accused of (altogether now) being a racist.

Thank you. Again you have shown the hypocrisy of our ideological and political infant terrible of a president. He goes overseas and says beautiful words over the country's war dead, those who truly paid the highest price for our freedom, while simultaneously he does nothing significant to protect this country from threats to our freedom that stream in along our southern border. Those threats that may one day result in the deaths of countless innocent American men, women, and children or those who are sent to fight the poison that he allowed to leak across our borders. One would think that it would be easier to stop the threat than pray over the dead. But, maybe no for Mr. Obama. But I'm sure he'll have pretty words to explain why it was Bush's fault.
Do citizens of this country care far more than the elected elite do on this issue? But, I wonder how much we citizens care when a fellow like Tom Tancredo get's zero traction in the last republican primary season. In reality, I think maybe 30% of Americans really care about our porous borders.
If China did not keep a tight border with North Korea, North Korea would collapse. North Korea of course is a puppet agent of China and they're being used at the moment to determine just how weak is BHO, to supply weapons to Venezuela, Iran, etc.
The point is that it's not impractical to enforce our southern border. It's purely a matter of political will.
