…Well, does anyone doubt he would have been as famous as Rodney King? Why is Kenneth Gladney ignored? And why did a black patriot who showed up in opposition to ObamaCare with an AR-15 have his face and hands edited out of the video that MSNBC used to create the belief that wild white mobs, enraged at the very idea of a black man in the White House, were waiting outside to lynch the “President of Color?”
The example of these two black patriots flies dead in the face of The Narrative. Well, what is “the Narrative?”
Andrew Breitbart has been championing this idea for years – he covers it in Hollywood, Interrupted and every time I see that soldier of ours he’s out there again fearlessly hammering home the double standard the Left has used, time and again, to control the language and the official cultural storyline that he and I refer to as The Narrative.
All I have done is look into the historical roots of Political Correctness, and tried to tie the work of The Frankfurt School into the present-day landscape.
This is something you should know about. It really is important.
And if you come out of this as shocked as I was when I first got a glimpse of The Institute for Social Research, then you really should follow up with this remarkable look at the history of the Frankfurt School and their effect on American life today:

That was great Bill. The liberal narrative is beginning to be exposed for the fraud that it is. With the advent of the internet (PJTV)the truth cannot be veiled any longer by Barry and his sycophants in the press, they have indeed lost control of the message/propaganda.
Because MSNBC, and the MSM in general, have a deeply dedicated agenda to advance the cause of liberalism, Kenneth Gladney barely gets a nod, and at every opportunity they do whatever it takes to makes conservatives look as badly as possible.
This odious behavior is nothing new – any NRA member can tell you how long the MSM has been maligning that organization and distorting facts at every opportunity.
The down side of this is the pendulum effect. Sooner or later it will swing to the conservative side, and the MSM in their blind belief they can recover the good graces of conservatives by attempting accurate reporting, will be sadly mistaken. They have immersed themselves too deeply and too long in liberalism to be able to present themselves as honest and objective.
Which is why the Inernet news sites have gained such a following. People simply want facts and honest reporting of the news, not the liberal rant and spin and outright lying of the MSM on everything.

Because Kenneth Gladney does not serve the interests of the Marxists' takeover of America and Rodney King does.
I watched this last night on PJTV. Part of the narrative is a distortion of language. Liberalism in the 19th century used to mean, promotion of liberty through small limited government, a republican (small r) system of government, and free market capitalism. Somewhere that definition of liberalism was changed to what we think of now, enabling the leftist statists to claim the moniker "liberal" So they can now set up a dictomomy between the conservatives that want to actually preserve the 19th century "classical" liberalism and the very people that promoted those values, people like Jefferson and Madison. By setting up that dictomomy, they can claim to be more like Jefferson and Madison than they people that want to preserve those values of "classical" liberalism.
Just one way that statists manipulate the denotation AND the connotation of words, to control the perception of their agenda. Which makes Patrick Courrielche's article yesterday all the more chilling.
I want to be called a liberal, a true liberal.

For over two generations, radical socialists have been writing, teaching, and producing TV shows and films that promote their views – no, saturate the culture with their socialist agenda of class and race warfare. Meanwhile, conservatives have been dominating the fields of medicine, banking, engineering, and of course business management. Our views have been marginalized. Wealthy conservatives have little or no interest in turining things around. They want to grow their wealth and pass it on to their children.
The irony is truly sad: conservatives are the advocates of true free speech, but we choose to exercise it by blogging complaints to each other – because it's cheap and easy and does not interfere with family and job obligations.

Oh no, nothing dubious about getting up from a skirmish then running to the police, then riding in wheelchair the next day and hiring a real estate lawyer for a personal injury case. Nah.
Considering that most of the hookworm feeders on this event horizon of dumb who think that waterboarding isn’t torture might take a moment to wonder if Gladney hopping up and down waving his arms after being on the ground for two seconds qualified as a beating.
Obama himself has told us, "Judge me by the people I surround myself with." Those were his own words. And the people he surrounds himself with and appoints to positions of power and influence are a matter of public record: Bill Ayers, Jerimiah Wright, Van Jones, Wade Rathke and the rest of the ACORN cast (for openers) – all self-professed radical socialists intent on overthrowing capitalism – in their own words. Obama himself openly described his attraction to Marxist and radical professors and their beliefs, without any hint to any change of his views that came later. Obama does not associate with "moderates" at all – his entire biography is one endless list of radical leftists.
The left laughed itself silly last year when Obama was elected based on the mistaken belief of millions of people that he is a "centrist." The good news is that those same people are now waking up to reality. The question is, can the radicals be stopped in time before they realize their dreams of turning America into a socialist cesspool.
Should you care to heed it, the object flitting around above your head is the point, i.e. that it is the left's selective presentation of events in an effort to impose a politically correct (i.e. Marxist) narrative over current events that Mr. Whittle is discussing.
(Incidentally, the colleges to which you refer the us are the ones at which professors specialize in imposing said narratives over the past.)
Again, it is the presentation and "shaping" of events that is at issue here.
Also, the videos recommended at the end of the clip are good: they elaborate on the history and feature [in part] David Horowitz (a convert from the left and owner of Frontpage Magazine ) and the great Roger Kimball (editor of The New Criterion.)
You went off into a rant at the end but I otherwise enjoyed it.
I've also noticed the same thing sans the Frankfurt School. That the left bolted on the race, gender, and sexual orientation stuff to class since they were not getting the numbers they needed to take over just based on class. I traced it back to Germany on my own (certain intellectuals who had come up with these new ideas) but that’s about as far as I got.

Obviously you’re playing a shell game with socialism. Even though socialists push the policy claiming it’s not socialist because the old 1920s-30s definition included 'public ownership'. Ignoring the Bernstein debates that resulted in the conclusion Marx was probably mistaken about a final crisis of capitalism and the resulting rise of the social democrats, Fabians, et cetera.

I have been trying to tell people about this since I was first exposed to it my freshman year of college. I think it was referred to as the communist manefesto. The one that stuck out to me at the time was the infiltration and ultimate conversion of the higher educational system.
Bill, I think you are right about the overall theory, but the devil is in the details, which certain conservative activists exploit for their own ends. I was first exposed to Lind and Weyrich's "fill in the blank with your favorite villain" argument when I attended a luncheon where I heard Harry Jaffa opine that homosexuals were lifestyle "Communists" because they were "Cultural Marxists." Dinesh D'Souza was one foot away and he applauded. Excuse me, but homosexuality is much older than Communism. Sure, homosexuality and gay activists have been used by the left. So was integration. But that no more makes homosexuality cultural Marxism than racial integration.

I enjoyed your piece. However, as a current professor of journalism (and one of the few conservatives in the academy) I would quibble a bit with your analysis of the Frankfort School.
No doubt the Frankfort School supplied the seed corn for the phenomenon of Political Correctness that you describe. However, I would argue that it wasn't until the creation of British Cultural Studies in the 1960s that it really took off as a mainstream phenomenon that you're discussing in your video. It wasn't until BCS and its twin, called "Neomarxism", that there was a concerted effort to examine the text and subtext of media messages.
The philosophy behind this was there were elite forces in society that were using the media for the purposes of maintaining the status quo. But examining and fighting against the text and subtext inherent in media messages, people could fight against these elite forces. The political phenomenon of the New Left, and some of its more famous faces, such as Noam Chomsky, who wrote the classic Critical and Cultural Studies tract, "Manufacturing Consent," grew out of these '60s movements.

Because nothing of note happened to Kenneth Gladney, who showed up with his lawyer at the event, was on the ground for two seconds and up giving interviews moments later, and quite laughably made an appearance in a wheelchair later.

Rodney King's beating and the subsequent trial of the officers involved were an event that shut down parts of Los Angeles. That's news.

That's a fact. Rightwingers aren't called "reactionary" for nothing. We sit back and react, play defense. Meanwhile it's not for nothing that we call the Left "activistas." It's going to take DECADES to beat them back to the sewers they came from.
I was in a car wreck several years ago (A woman speeding to the hospital because her husband had a heart attack slammed into my little red Geo.) It took about two seconds for the impact to happen, about as long as Gladney was on the ground getting kicked.
Later that evening, my arm abruptly started hurting. I had an enormous bruise on my arm from the impact with my gear shift. I could barely move my arm for days afterward, but for hours I didn't even realize I was injured.
I can't speak for Gladney, but I know from personal experience that adrenaline and shock shuts down pain. It doesn't mean you're not injured, badly, if you can walk away from an attack.
Now I have to go take a shower, because I responded to a hateful lefty troll. Echh.

Look, Rodney King had the piss beat out of him by police, agents of the state. Kenneth Gladney was in a minor fight that he appears to have at least shared the responsibility for starting and then he faked being injured There would appear to be meaningful factual, legal, and moral differences.
Neither you nor I were there for Mr. Gladney's altercation. We have seen the same video and reached different conclussions. In any event it is orders of magnitude different from the Rodney King incident.
I saw it a little differently. Mr. Gladney was struck first and therefore attacked without warning. Mr. Gladney then attempted to defend himself. The attacker has the full responsibility for the event and subsequent injury to Mr, Gladney. Mr. Gladney's injuries are not 'fake' until proven so and have no bearing on the actual intent of the attack.. Also an examining Doctor's opinion seems to dispute your assumption. Minimiization of the event and conjecture regarding injuries inflicted does not constitute justification.
I just bought a "Don't Tread on Me" flag from Mr. Gladney at the Recess Rally in front of Claire McCaskill's office last Saturday. A black man, opposed to Obamacare and pro capitalism? The left wing loons are crapping themselves daily over people like Mr. Gladney.

Police and an individual that did violate the law but was the victum of grossly excssive force versus individuals not showing good sense with each other and having a minor altercation. It appears to me Mr. Gladney does have at least shared responsibilty for the course of events.

But we've always known what the problem was, even without the bona fides of its provenance. People of good faith can spot evil at a mile's pace.
The inherent danger in finding oneself against a monopoly on the conversation is that it corners the defendant into mute resignation or a desire for action. The Left has a plan for either option. They are hoping for violence as a final reason to remove the offensive thinking.

It's funny to me that Mr. Whittle should drop Eric Fromme's name in this piece. In the 80's Fromme was being served to collegians in the Women's Studies Department and the Sociology Department. He wrote a book called 'The Art Of Loving'. It sounded interesting, so I gave it a cursory read. I realized that it was h#%*$#!t when I tripped over the sentence, "Stalin was a sexual sadist, whereas Hitler was an asexual sadist." Or words of that meaning. King got Drunk and high, went 90 miles an hour through a residential neighborhood where children walk the streets, attacked the cops, was at one point able to throw four of them off of him and refused to give up until he was beaten in the joints by the clubs. He was only struck three times with these batons before he did give up.
Stacey Koons explains why in his book. According to LA police rules the only option he had at that time was lethal force i.e. shooting Mr. King. Yep second thought your right the comparison is silly. Gladney did nothing to deserve it.

You do realize the beating of Rodney King has only three baton strikes which the media loops so that it appears the cops are beating him more.
The full video two minutes worth was played on the Rush Limbaugh show and it shows that King actually landed more blows then the Police until the end. I submit to you that the media's refusal to play all the video makes them liable for the damage and mayhem of the riots.
We know that the facts of the Rodney King event are that King attacked the Cops first. Period. His beating was a direct result of his resisiting arrest.
We know he was drunk and high at the time, running 90 miles an hour through a residential neighborhood and after the fight told the cops he meant to give them a good fight. This is not in dispute.
Your attempt to belittle what Union Thugs did to Mtr. Gladney and defend Rodney Kings lawlessness is probably one of the most offensive arguments that I have ever heard.
While I wish you were completely correct in your assesment you have to remember that there are people out there that consider all other things, including job and family, of lesser import than tearing down and destroying anything and anyone that would serve to disagree with the leftist ideology. There were only three baton strikes by the cops given on specific orders to Mr. Kings joints by the arresting Sergeant in order to stop his resisitng arrest. The video clearly shows Rodney King physically throwing four cops off of him from a prone postion.

Becasue I have seen the King video I will not let you post this LIE! King started that fight and he maintained it. I will not judge those cops becasue I could not handle that situation. I have just shot King to protect myself. But not being a cop I won't be placed in a situation where I am forced to make that decision so my weakness would not be a factor.

I saw it a little differently. Mr. Gladney was struck first and therefore attacked without warning. Mr. Gladney then attempted to defend himself. The attacker has the full responsibility for the event and subsequent injury to Mr, Gladney. Mr. Gladney's injuries are not 'fake' until proven so and have no bearing on the actual intent of the attack.. Also an examining Doctor's opinion seems to dispute your assumption. Minimiization of the event and conjecture regarding injuries inflicted does not constitute justification.

Even in your supposed proof Stacey Koons account is validated. He stated that after attempting to subdue King and failing with the Batons that the LA Use of Force chart required him to use deadly force. He stated that he instead ordered that King be beat in the joints. The pian would force him to capitulate. These were the three shots with the batons. He was worried because he this course of action could maim King who was not able to be subdued by the four cops. This he admitting was the violation from procedure which in his mind was done so that he did not have to shoot King.
The court records at this site show that King was arrested previously for beating his wife and for attacking a convenience store clerk with a tire iron. Since unrelated bad acts affect Limbaugh they must also be applied to King. But again Why show the end of the tape and not the beginning part where king is resiisting arrest. Limbagh showed those parts. King Bull Rushes Powell, attemopts a prison move to take the officer down. Throws four officers off him. So where did Limbaugh get this video tape back then for his show.
