Examining Leftist Thinking
by Burt PrelutskyThe question that’s been preying on my mind is who is best suited to study those strange beings known as liberals. It strikes me that they’d be fit subjects for psychiatrists, who might be in a position to figure out why they revere the people they do — people such as Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Al Gore and Ted Kennedy — men who haven’t a single notable accomplishment to their name, aside from either winning elections or eliminating them altogether. Or perhaps it would be more appropriate for biologists to delve into the left-wing organism, and determine how it is possible that creatures without brains could have survived so long in an often hostile environment.
If you don’t believe that liberalism is a serious malady, consider that Paul Krugman of the New York Times, when addressing Sonia Sotomayor’s remark about an Hispanic woman being better qualified than a white man to be a judge, said that she was merely being entertaining. Even if Mr. Krugman is, as his comment suggests, more easily entertained than a backward three-year-old, I have a feeling that he wasn’t nearly as forgiving when Trent Lott, on the occasion of Strom Thurmond’s 100th birthday in 2002, said it was a shame that the old Dixiecrat hadn’t been elected president in 1948.Yet another recent example of liberalism in action took place at Harvard, where bright young people go to have their brains exchanged for a pound of hay and humongous egos. It seems that the mucky-mucks at the university found $1.5 million lying around and decided that the best possible use for the money was to create a visiting professorship in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender studies. I guess the good news is that if Barney Frank decides to do us all a big favor and get out of politics, there’s a job opening at his alma mater.
Speaking of liberal goofiness brings us inevitably to Barack Hussein Obama, as he now proudly identifies himself — at least when he’s addressing Muslims, praising Muslims and, as usual, slandering America. By the way, isn’t it the least bit odd that he never condemns Muslim-extremists for clinging to their religion and their suicide bombs? And even if you’re a liberal, doesn’t it seem peculiar that during his speech in Egypt, he didn’t take a moment to mention how much blood and national treasure America has spent — and, I would suggest, wasted — defending Muslims in Somalia, Kuwait, Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan?
But, then, we mustn’t forget that this is the same chap who went to France and took the opportunity to apologize for America’s arrogance without once mentioning the number of American G.I.s who died, making sure that the French wouldn’t have to give up wine and foie gras for beer and bratwurst.
By the way, do you think the day will ever come when he’ll quit apologizing for America’s arrogance and apologize for his own?
Before setting off for the Middle East, where he gave a thumbs-up to Iran’s nuclear program while condemning Israel for building houses, Obama mentioned that America is home to one of the world’s largest Muslim populations. As anyone with even a passing interest in facts would know, there are roughly three million Muslims in the United States. Just to give you some idea of how far off Obama was, Indonesia has 195 million, Pakistan has 160 million, India has 154 million. Even Burkina Faso, a place you’ve never even heard of, has seven million. There are, as one of his advisers should have told him before he shot off his mouth, roughly 40 countries in the world with larger Muslim populations than America.
But, then, as we all know, Obama has notoriously weak math skills. It certainly explains why he announced during the campaign that that the U.S. is made up of 57 states. Heck, it may even help explain the way he tosses around our money. It’s a scary thought, but isn’t it just possible that he can’t really tell the difference between million, billion and trillion?

This is a really good post! Is anyone getting really sick of Obama's constant ignorance about the country he thinks he leads? The man really does not have a clue about the United States or what our country stands for and if he does actually know certain facts he holds them in contempt.
It has always been quite obvious to the scope of the prezs' intellect and that it goes as far as the two -or more- teleprompters deem it so. Every speech he gives shows the waving of his noggins from right to left.. left to right and perhaps when the words run out, he might actually look straight forward!
If the words halt, he becomes a stuttering fool with proclamations of "wait a second".. "hold on,.. hold on" and the beloved: "uuuhh- Uhmmm- well… uhmm" that he falls back into as he waits with baited breath for the words to scroll again.
He is truly.. The teleprez.
Who also doesn't give a damn about the cost (monetary or otherwise) of his actions because hell, why should he? It's not like he had to work for any of it. Plus, once he gets booted out he garners a annual big fat paycheck till the day he crooks. Tax Free no doubt once he makes sure the demorats change the irs policies in regards to them.
"By the way, do you think the day will ever come when he’ll quit apologizing for America’s arrogance and apologize for his own"?
No, he has to admit he has a problem first before he can go on to heal.
Watch Mike Judge's underrated movie "Idiocracy." As a result of negative-evolution, 500 years in the future the world is full of idiots and morons who do little more than sit around and watch TV while all the hard work is done by computers created centuries ago.
In the later half of the movie, we see that the President of the United States is a charismatic black man – all he needs to do is appear on stage (accompanied by music, a light show, dancing girls, etc) and the crowd of idiots goes wild with ecstacy. And there are GREEK COLUMNS behind him.
This movie came out around 2006.
Good post. I've said for years that liberalism is the result of dain bramage.
"I believe that there is one idea, one sentiment, which we have all acquired at some point in our Harvard careers, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is, in a word, confusion… They tell us it is heresy to suggest the superiority of some value, fantasy to believe in moral argument, slavery to submit to a judgment sounder than your own. The freedom of our day is the freedom to devote yourself to any values we please, on the mere condition that we do not believe them to be true." — Robert Bellah, The Good Society
Numbers are a bit of a weak point with the left. They expect to pull some random tally of numbers out of their behind and not get called on it. We should just accept it as fact. After all, numbers don't lie and we should accept whatever they tell us. With the number of Obama officials having tax troubles when he took office, it wouldn't surprise me to see some kind of executive exemption passed before he leaves office.
Liberals have no sense of humour.
What is the difference between God and Obama? God does not think he is Obama. Heard this on Rush Limbaugh Radio Show. Obamabots were furious!!
But America is one of the largest Muslim nations. We are one of the largest nations and we have muslims. See?
Now you know people will take issue with your saying "men who haven’t a single notable accomplishment to their name." they have accomplished a lot, just not much that we appreciate.
Some rabid liberals (ex. Jane Fonda) seem to be wired backwards for the rest of their lives- there's no help. Other liberals (usually naive, inexperienced, and idealistic college spoiled brats) often out-grow their stupidity once, oh I don't know, they actually live a life and are responsible for something. At what age or experience can the rest of us normally wired perceivers of reality and truth (truth as in things as they actually are, actually were, and will always be) expect the spoiled brats to grow up and get that liberalism is a dangerous mirage- once they own a business, actually pay taxes, have a legal issue (i.e. being sued or ignorantly committing a crime), are responsible for someone on Medicaid/Medicare, or reach the age of anywhere between 35-50?

The problem is right there in your title: "Examining Leftist THINKING." I have come to the understanding that Leftists do not think. They feel. They emote. They declare in strong emotional statements that are without logic or objective. All is in short hand: Bush is stupid; Cheney is Darth Vader; Rush is the cause of all hate in the universe. And they know they can get away with it because they know their compatriots are too lazy to actually read a book or check on the truth of the next shocking disclosure they want to pass on about the evil of the Right/conservatives/neocons/military/Republicans.
We don't revere Chavez or Castro. Try winning an argument honestly for once. Oh that's right, you can't.
Trying to determine what causes liberalism is like trying to understand insanity. You know how when somebody goes crazy and kills a bunch of people like the guy in the bell tower at University of Texas years ago, and we all say "I just cannot imagine how somebody can do something like that?" And yet . . . haven't we all, at times, felt so stressed that we feel like we are slipping over the edge ("I'm going crazy!") Insanity is a slippery slope and, at times, a fine line.
What is the difference between a Democrat and a liberal? One of degree, I would think. I have lots of Democrats who are my friends. Maybe some even qualify as "liberals." I think what is so, so scary about this current group, is the degree to which they are taking us so hard to the left. It's not hard to see the allure for some. These are the people who were always envious of the wealthy and saw, business, rather than government as the "bad guys." Likewise, the intellectual (at least in their own mind) sees something chic about Marxism (see Amity Shlaes book "The Forgotten Man") to see how many of Roosevelt's cronies were inthralled with Marxism. That doesn't even include the allure of controlling what everybody else does, since they truly believe they know best.
We have to continue to expose this administration for what it really is; crassly trying to grab permanent power over our lives.
You actually think Idiocracy was mocking liberalism?
Don't revere Chavez or Castro? Coulda fooled me.
"But, then, as we all know, Obama has notoriously weak math skills. " Well, considering he won't release his transcripts, we don't really know that. I'd love to see what grade he 'earned' in Economics. Forget the birth certificate… we will never see that. How about the release of those college transcripts? C'mon TRANSPARENCY Prez, RELEASE THOSE COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS!!!!
" I would suggest, wasted — defending Muslims in Somalia, Kuwait, Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan? "
- I agree 100% with the Kosovo part. We had no right to be there.
Wow–article after article of nonsensical, whining, angry rants are published on Big Hollywhine, and you still cling to the notion that *liberals* emote instead of think? Check out Free Republic for even more ranting, whining and emoting.
I can only assume your assertion is a matter of projecting your own problems managing your emotions on everyone else. Look in the mirror, dude, you won't like what you see.
Absolutely. But Glenn never said that, nor even implied it.
Examining leftist thinking is an oxymoron, as was stated up-thread liberals don’t think they feel. Everything’s got to be fair, equal, all results must be the same regardless of effort. It doesn’t matter the damage liberals do we must look only at their good intentions. Envy is a great liberal trait, they don’t worry about what’s in their pocket, but what’s in your pocket, and how they can separate you from your hard earned coin. Arithmetic is a nuisance for liberals in search of a greater society, they still believe there is such a thing as a money tree? We are in the midst of a liberal cluster of monumental proportions, and I recommend to do your best to laugh, or you’ll surely go insane trying to apply reason and logic to the mind of a liberal, scary!
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!
Tell it to Sean Penn.
If you'd like the citations, I can provide them. You know, HuffPo, huge claps on the back from fellow lefties, etc. Remember that?
There is something in marketing called, "over-branding, stale-branding" not sure of the exact name. But, Obama and team are headed in that direction. We will look back and see these days as the tragedy that reshaped America into a prosperous, Capitalist Nation once again.

Liberals are looking to create Utopia with Big Government; therefore, they have no real problems with Fidel Castro, Kim Jong Il, & Communist China. They also believe they can talk our enemies out of their irrational power play. I believe most liberals live in fantasy land most of the time where good intentions are always best no matter what the negative real world consequences are.
good post as usual- love the Homer Simpson profile… our favorite example of the mental/emotional disorder that is chronic liberalism is from the pouty lips of, yes- Janeane Garofalo.
She said 'conservatism- Republicans- is a mental disorder'…
Migod- does she have a mirror in her house? Look at this miserable wretch- flabby, yet thin, bad skin and hair, so many tattoos that it limits her ability to get roles- she admits she did '24' "'cause I need a job"…
As long as we have the Krugmans and Garofalos of the world pointing out 'mental disorders' and other poorly reasoned emotional outburts we will continue to know, with absolute certainty-
That WE are correct…
You're joking right? It was a response to Bushism, not leftism. I can't believe I have to explain that to you and that you will continue to believe the opposite I'm sure.
I am speaking for myself and other liberals I know. I don't give a crap about Sean Penn.
That's actually an old joke. See Mike Wilson's book, "The difference between God and Larry Ellison." Leave it to Rush to claim old jokes as his own. He's the Milton Berle of politics.
I'm telling you what our position is. Sean Penn is not our leader nor does he represent the majority of liberals.
Seems a bunch of members of the Congressional Black Caucas just went down there (Cuba) for some good times. Don't remember their giddiness and praise of the tyrant? Oh- I guess they were the exception, not the rule, right?
Nice try.
But it did make an accurate prediction for 2008/9. It only got the timing wrong.
Of course, when Tiller was murdered last week, When Shep Smith receives "more and more frightening emails," when Richard Poplawski guns down three Pittsburgh police officers because he's afraid Obama is going to take his guns away, when Jim David Adkisson goes on a shooting rampage in a Universalist church because he "hates liberals and gays," conservatives can only say, "I know exactly what they were thinking."
Well this is of course, why we need more empathetic judges on the Supreme Court.
Libs are weak at math. I was astounded yesterday when the head of our Senate (financially broke California) discovered about $4 billion in a "rainy day fund" and immediately wanted to apply it to some welfare program.
Like a little child finding money in the cookie jar and wanting to immediately go out and buy a new skateboard –
My thought on that it is that it should be uised on something like an emergency – you know, like an earthquake or fire?
Thank goodness Obama doesn't know any numbers higher than a trillion.
You're REALLY missing the point. Big time.
Mikey Moore LOVES Castro.
Don't you love Mikey anymore?
The Harvard Cult and the larger Obama Cult view citizens as wards and themselves as wardens. To know what wards look like, revisit the Superdome, New Orleans, August 31, 2005.
Give his study program, I doubt he even took a course in Econ. And yes, why can't the nation see his transcripts. The so-called Constitutional Scholar should be happy to show us his grades.
When 1 person suffers from a delusion it is insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called the Democratic party. They may call it a new way of thinking; I call it regression to ignorance.
Yes. Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, and Michelle Bachmann are all shining examples of "thinking" conservatives. Let's be honest–the reason why the conservative talk radio hosts and FOX news succeed is because they keep you so angry and emotional. Watch any of their rants and try to pretend that they're appealing to your intellectual side. "Conservative intellectual"–since Buckley died, there's a REAL oxymoron (emphasis on the MORON).
But Obama *is* your leader, and *does* represent the majority of liberals. While I may agree with you that "revere" is a bit too strong of a word concerning Chavez and Castro, "emulate, respect, admire, and encourage" are accurate, and frankly, in toto, equally damning.
What exactly is your position? As a liberal, do you support Obama's policies regarding these two admitted thugs?
Wow–you're blaming OBAMA for the Katrina debacle? I don't know whether to break out the tinfoil hats or the butterfly nets…
When I criticized Obama for saying he was willing to bankrupt the coal industry, a couple of my liberal "friends," who have known about my political views for years, attacked me on Facebook, accused me of doing/saying things I have never done nor said, and told me that people like me are bad for America. It was like I was no longer a person to them – I was THE ENEMY OF ALL THAT IS GOOD (Obama).
Meanwhile, my old fashioned relatives from the farm in flyover country have this to say about liberals: "Well, now, I just don't know about them…" Not "The baby killers are evil!" No, they're tactful, even though they constantly hear the crazy libs from the coasts characterize them as less than people. Maybe, just maybe, we can disagree without hating each other?
Oh, but wait… that requires the willingness to think objectively. Plenty of humans are not willing to do this, including most liberals I have encountered. "OHH, Thorien, that's such an unfair generalization!" No, it's not. I'm telling you what I've experienced.
BTW, I have one hippie liberal friend (her big issue is gay marriage, even though our state allows civil unions that give the same rights as marriage… whatever) with whom I can discuss my beliefs. I don't do it too often, because I win all our debates (not that I'm so amazing, I just have logic on my side) and I don't want to make her feel bad; however, when we do discuss these things, she's nice and polite about it. I mention her because she is a RARITY. She doesn't take my opposition to abortion as a personal threat. She only says she would never want to live in Nebraska because she's actually BEEN there, and she doesn't denigrate those who do.
Now, you might think, well hey, I know some democrats who are nice and not foaming at the mouth, too. The people Burt and I are talking about are not just democrats. They are the super-far-out leftists who exist in high numbers in our media and universities. They really can be (and most of them show themselves to be) dreadfully unkind and hateful people. They have to be to keep themselves attuned to their selfish desires (killing viable unborn, getting the government/rich people to pay for things for them, etc.), and brainwash school children to agree with them because they can't handle dissent – especially when that dissent is logical, and exposes these beliefs as harmful, even to liberals. If they'd toss their bias out the window, and start thinking about what's right and what works instead of just FEELING sorry for everyone, including themselves, they MIGHT realize that their policies hurt women, keep the urban poor down and harm our economy.
But again, that requires the willingness to think objectively. And it's so much easier not to.
My experience has been that Liberal almost always expect us to take accept what they say as fact, and if they don't have anything to back up what they are saying, they'll make something up. I never take anything a lib says without checking on the facts afterward.
I think murder is wrong whether it be the guy who gunned down the late term abortionist or the military recruiter. I would like to hope you feel the same, although after reading some of your comments at this site, I can't say I know that for sure. I'll bet you didn't really even understand my comments above preferring to assume that what I said was you must be insane to be a democrat or a liberal. If you thought that, go back and read it again.
Your comment about dain bramage fits in with my theory that a person has to be mentally ill to be a liberal.
Does that make Obama a joke because he's this generation's Jimmy Carter, who is an old joke himself?
Does that make Obama a joke because he's this generation's Jimmy Carter, who is an old joke himself?
Is that you, Hanoi Jane?
God, it's been a while.
Climbed on any Taliban Anti-Aircraft guns lately?
The poster never claimed Rush created the joke, just that's where they'd heard it.
I like the one I believe I heard it on Red Eye but I could me wrong. What's the difference between Obama and Jesus. Obama spends, Jesus saves.
I think the lady dost emote too much. I would point out that, in spite of the Left now controlling all branches of government, they are still very, very unhappy. I don't hate. I hope you don't either as it is bad for your health – and bad karma.
But just to support my logical position.
Exhibit A: The Left has decided that they have to demonize and marginalize Rush Limbaugh. Of course the reason is that they are threatened by his power. But they use whatever they feel is available to paint him as stupid/evil/hypocritical, etc. When asked to point to something he has actually said, they will admit that they have never listened to Rush Limbaugh. Witness his challenge to MSNBC to go a month without mentioning his name. Can't do it, but they won't listen to him. Much easier to go straight to the ad hominem attack rather than have to defend your ideas.
Exhibit B: Ann Coulter – every good liberal's favorite woman to hate. If you ever picked up one of her books, you would see (as opposed to most Leftist rants) that she has FOOTNOTES. You can actually go back and see the source documents that she uses to build her arguments.
Exhibit C: A few weeks ago Hugh Hewitt had Lawrence O'Donnell on for an interview. O'Donnell is not a political genius – he just played one on 'West Wing,' but his is a mainstay talking head on MSNBC whenever they need an emotionally unstable person to attack the right while Olbermann is taking his meds. After a mildly heated discussion about waterboarding and other issues about the War against the Jihadis, Hewitt asked O'Donnell if he had read any of the many books about the region and the roots of our current problems with radical Islam. O'Donnell admitted that he had read zero, zip, zilch, nada… But he is smart and informed enough to preach to us.
Yes, I must have misunderstood "Trying to determine what causes liberalism is like trying to understand insanity."
Rahmbo is giving BHO his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."
"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"
His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.
Finally, BHO looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"
"Idiocracy" mocks stupidity, ignorance and mindless consumerism. Even considering it's many flaws, it's a brilliant comedy and well worth watching. There are various theories as to why it did not receive the wide theatrical distribution it deserves, and why it has never been significantly marketed. I believe it was found to hit "too close to home" by the entertainment industry. For example, the idiots of the future have been brainwashed to believe that a sports drink called Brawndo" should be used for everything, including "watering" food crops. When the protagonist (a guy from the year 2005 who is now "the smartest man in the world") explains to them that Brawndo is JUST a sports drink, they resond in a really dumb and robotic fashion: "But . . . it has electrolytes!" What are electrolytes anyhow? "Uhm . . . Browndo's got 'em!"
Those characters sounded to me exactly like Obama voters.
"Why did you vote for Obama?"
"He gives me hope!"
"Hope for what?"
"Uhm . . . a better tomorrow!"
"What makes you think that Obama can give you a better tomorrow? Name one accomplishment that Obama has achieved in his life."
"He was elected president!"
"Yeah, but name one accomplishment that he has achieved while in office as a senator or Illinois state legislator. What has he ever done besides run for office?"
"He gives hope to the people!"
The Idiocracy did not take 500 years to eveolve – it's here today!
Lola, the sad thing is that even if the man is a complete moron he is the president of the united states with all the power and priviledges that entails. It just makes me throw-up in my mouth thinkin about it..
Better a president who stutters and thinks before he speaks than a president who stumbled over words and thoughts so much it made you wonder if English was even his native language.
There is no such thing as "leftist thinking" there is only emotion — hate and worship.
Funny thing about Ann Coulter. When you actually try to follow her footnotes, you find out that either the article doesn't exist, she's taken an op-ed piece and claimed it represented the view of the newspaper, or she's just intentionally misread the source material. (And no, I'm not going to provide any examples–they've been well-documented, do your own research).
A liberal giving lectures about being angry the world is truly upside down. What’s in it for you? Do you have a job, or are you looking for a raise on your Social Security Disability check? Do you dream of a cinder block Sec 8 home in the projects? Do you get your health care from the Health Dept.? Do you love Barry or any other Washington politician, why? Are you an American? You think this is a great country because? What’s in it for you?
Add a little megalomania to that delusion and you call it the Nazi party.
Burt, the title of your piece contains an oxymoron, leftist thinking. Leftists emote, they don't think.
He does have a problem. Some dude named "God" is standing in his way of becoming the sole object of worship in the universe.
Gee, StanH, you must have a keyboard macro for "What's in it for you?" I'm reminded of the proverb, "A thief trusts no one." You must only say or do things when there's something in it for you.
So let me reverse that? Do you work for Big Pharma? An oil company, maybe? An insurance company? A Republican politician? What's in it for you?
Excellent post, Thorien. I live in Nebraska and your friend would probably like the place I live in because it's a university town with lots and lots of liberals.
I have to admit. That was funny.
I hate to be the wet blanket, but it isn't the delivery it's the message.
How many of us don't pause and throw in ums. How many of us have to search for the right word.
Please. This whole language thing is ia joke. Obama and Bush are human, and mess up.
Now let's look at the message.
Well I remember Rumsfeld pressing the flesh with Sadaam, history’s greatest monster. Somehow, Sadaam didn’t end up punched by Rummy–instead he got a gimme bag full of missiles. Of course this was a few years ago out of the purview of the Big Hollywood overall soilers who can only remember this week’s “outrage.”
O.K. Isabella Baumfree, you certainly have some good old hate pent up inside, don't you. Now it is obvious you misunderstood. I am sure liberals often say to themselves "I absolutely cannot understand how a person who otherwise seems sane can be a conservative." Trying to understand folks who are that far apart is like trying to understand insanity.
Some people who truly hate conservatives the way you do are even willing to throw their pastor under the bus for saying out loud what they secretly believe, but have to pretend they don't so they can get elected president. Neither he nor you fool me with your hypocritical thinking
Amazing
from your lips to God's ears, (or from your keyboard to God's inbox)…
What policies? That he'll talk to them? That's it?
And I am saying that your characterization of my position and other liberals' positions as being "emulate, respect, admire, and encourage" is just another example of conservatives dishonestly assigning the left positions it does not hold in order to win points in some phony argument.
That is not how I feel and it is not how the majority on the left feel. I'm sorry but it's not true. Let me remind you that you are in the MINORITY and that I have no reason to hide my actual positions from you as a result.
See, that one's much better.
meh
Hey, I don't hate conservatives. I just hate what they say and do, and point out their hypocrisies. Then they get all red in the face and start emoting all over the place. Or, as someone once said, "I don't give my opponents Hell, I tell the truth and they think it's Hell."
Wait–"Isabella Baumfree?" That one I *really* misunderstood. Or rather, don't understand it at all.
Oh Hey Sojouner! It's always a pleasure sort of like crap on your shoe. But it's a simple question, what's in it for you? What do you get from government? Why do you run to the defense of a politician so vociferously? Do you love your Barry? What's in it for you?
To answer one of your question's see it's easy. I'm an evil business owner for 25plus years, I employ people, and pay taxes. How about you? What do you do?
Well, it would be funnier if the joke played on people's preconceptions of Obama instead of frantically clinging to the need to try to establish that Obama is almost as dumb as the last president, but when my 5-year-old makes up jokes, I laugh if for nothing else than to give some encouragement. It *was* at least a better effort than the Rush "joke".
No argument there.
Oh wait–I just caught the reference to "the projects." That's so '70s! I get it now–you're Cranky Old Guy! Or maybe you used to write for "Happy Days" and think that "What's in it for you?" will be a new catchphrase you can use at parties…
By the way, what part of my replies to your nonsensical, emotional rant against liberals did you interpret as "running to the defense" of President Obama? As far as I'm concerned, he doesn't need to be defended from you–every time he gives a speech he makes conservatives like you look foolish.
No you are missing the point Sojourner. The Super Dome was full of people waited for 'the government" to help them – instead of doing something themselves…
I’m sorry Sojouner! So what do you do, are you a parasite, or do you pay taxes? What’s in it for you, welfare, WIC, free healthcare, Sec 8 housing, or your butt wiped, what? I don’t have time for parties, do you go to parties? As a liberal who’s your favorite politician or God, Bawney Frank, Barry, Owlgore, who? You always add so much to the conversation. No one gets this hysterical over a damned politician right or left unless there’s something in it for them, what’s in it for you? What’s the pay off?
We're not blaming Obama for the Katrina debacle. We blame the Democratic Mayor of New Orleans (Ray Nagin), and we blame the former Democratic Louisiana Governor (Kathleen Babineaux Blanco) for that bit of incompetence. But before you do break out the tinfoil hats or butterfly nets you might want to remove your Rose colored glasses first.
If anyone is interested in more info on leftist thinking I highly recommend you go to Youtube and search "Evan Sayet Heritage Foundation". He gave two speeches at the Heritage Foundation in 2007 and 2009 that are simply brilliant as to the insights of Liberal Thinking. Watch them in their entirety, I promise you won't be dissapointed.
Hey, it's working! Every time you say "what's in it for you?" I start laughing. Not at you, just around you.
You might also want to look back and see who's getting hysterical. T'ain't me.
Ignorance is not the right word – he doesn´t give a sh**. The truth is that he doesn´t care about the heroes of D-day, the constitution or anything else this country has done before it elected him. Go through his speeches and interviews word by word. You will not find an ounce of affection for America as it was. Everything is broke and needs to be fixed through socialist policies. BO thinks the best thing to come out of America is BO. What puzzles me is how many people cannot see it.
The other obvious trait is his lack of courage. He will never stick his head out for anything unpopular. That´s the job of Congress and "czars". Somehow, not even his dreadful appointments are his fault. Remember, the man was basically a legislative virgin. I bet Obama couldn´t win a debate against any opponent with balls willing to really go after him, knock him off balance, hold him to his record. The guy was elected but he was never put through the grinder.
You must've missed this article. http://men.style.com/gq/features/full?id=content_...
Not only was Heckuvajob Brownie incompetent, Rumsfeld's machinations compounded the incompetence. And Bush was basically clueless, as usual.
Because he tells you exactly what you want to hear and believe.

Oh hey Sojourner! You lurk around conservative blogs rushing to the defense of your Messiah. My answer is, you get nothing, you just like being a smuck, or just a fool, cool!
Oh by the way Barry just finished a town hall meeting in Green Bay about healthcare, you can get off your knees now.
Two days before Katrina hit New Orleans President Bush went on television and urged the people of New Orleans to evacuate the city. Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin did nothing. Two hours before Katrina hit New Orleans Mayor Nagin had his feet on his desk and was laughing and joking with the media. The people who were clueless were the wards who wound up in the Superdome and the people whom they voted for to be the Governor and Mayor.
Thanks!
If you have good mass transit I'll let her know ('cause you know, trains > cars).
Hey Cranky Old Guy,
I'm just performing a public service, lest you get too wrapped in the groupthink echo chamber that is Big Hollywhine.
And, you see, you're projecting again. Notice that Liberals don't call Obama "Messiah," "The One," or anything like that. In fact, many liberals have criticized some of Obama's policies.
Kinda unlike the blind worship you conservatives indulged in during the Bush years, where any criticism was instantly branded as "UnAmerican." And for that matter, what happens to any Republican who dares criticize Rush? Forced to publicly apologize for their sins. Who's guilty of worshipping their political gods? Not the liberals.
Great statement! I totally agree with you.
"It all depends on what the definition of "is" is" — is lawyer talk for creating confusion and a way to CYA in case anyone disagrees with you. I hate to have to deconstruct the perplexities of every statement lawyers put out just to find the real meaning of what they say. It’s a little bit like reading Shakespeare. Only Shakespeare was a master.
Good for you, Sojourner! Your statements stand for everything the author was trying to prove.
Why are you still here, troll?
So, this article is all about a oxymoron (Leftist – Thinking). We all now liberals don't think, as "MegaTroll" has said , "there is only emotion — hate and worship." Also, shout out to "JRG3", sorry did not see your post so I am summing up.
Also another conservative quality, I do not plagiarize.
You can interpret it however you want. The things it ridicules are attributes of the left, not the right, in my opinion.
Well I don't know you or your friends and it's pretty idiotic to demand that people here argue against every conceivable position a person could possibly take in this country. Just as the left argues against what they see as the right-wing position taken broadly, so we argue against the left.
If you have a difference with others on the left, then make your position known. THEN ask people to refute your argument and not another. But don't just waltz in here like some sort of child royalty calling people names for arguing against what is, for better or worse, the very loud and public face of American leftism.
