Where Are Liberals Hatched?

If, at the time, anyone had asked me to explain myself, I would have said that I opposed Jim Crow laws, that I believed workers were entitled to make a decent wage and work in a safe environment, and that American citizens shouldn’t be discriminated against because of their race, religion or national origin.
I quit being a liberal because I didn’t believe that members of particular minority groups deserved advantages denied to others; that illegal aliens weren’t entitled to anything but a swift kick to the backside; that being a devout Christian didn’t make you a bad person; and that capitalism was a system that worked, while socialism not only didn’t work, but, wherever it was tried, turned into a tyranny.
I honestly don’t know why there are so many liberals today and I certainly can’t imagine why they have such a lousy agenda. I have come up with a theory, however. Here in California, roughly 30 years ago, because of budget cuts, a great many people were released from insane asylums. They wound up living in the streets, which explains the large number of homeless people, even though Democrats would have you believe that those are normal people who simply lost their jobs along the way.
Even after the state became more solvent, it became almost impossible to get these poor souls back into institutions where they could be fed, clothed and given their meds, because the ACLU lawyers fought for their inalienable right to starve, freeze and use the sidewalks of your city as their combination bedroom, living room and bathroom.
Inevitably, they also got to vote. As a result, the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Gray Davis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Antonio Villaraigosa, Gavin Newsom and Jerry Brown, wound up winning all the major elections. I mean, the truth is, you’d have to be crazy to vote for those people.
I have to suspect that a similar scenario took place all over the country. How else to explain that two-thirds of Americans actually believe that Barack Obama’s policies will save our economy? I’m not even a Christian, but I find it bizarre that people who pooh-pooh the idea that Christ raised the dead or walked on water are totally convinced that a guy who’s tossing trillions of dollars into the air is a financial miracle worker. Talk about blind faith!
It makes me wonder if these same people, were they facing personal bankruptcy, would think that the answer to their own financial difficulties would be to give their wife an American Express card and drop her off at Tiffany’s.
If liberals aren’t simply insane, they surely must be hypocrites. Why else would they insist that spending eight years bashing President Bush and comparing him, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, to the Nazi High Command was patriotic, but merely questioning President Obama’s qualifications, judgment and policies, makes one a racist?
Also, how is it that when, between 2000 and 2006, when the GOP had control of the Oval Office, the House and the Senate, on those rare occasions they didn’t do the bidding of Ted Kennedy, John Murtha or Charles Schumer, they were condemned as divisive? However, when Obama and his left-wing cronies rushed through a trillion dollar stimulus package and a pork-filled budget over Republican objections, nobody in their crowd cried “Foul!” or insisted on reaching across the aisle for a group hug and a few choruses of “Kumbaya”?
Before anyone bothers sending an e-mail reminding me that three Republican senators voted with the Democrats on the stimulus bill, I haven’t forgotten. But, let’s face it — the two ladies from Maine are merely the east coast version of Boxer and Feinstein. As for Arlen Specter, I suspect that along the way, he’ll switch to the Extraterrestial Party if, as he inches closer to being a hundred years old, he decides that’s his best chance of winning an election.
I know that people such as Sen. Specter and Sen. Jeffords would have us believe that they switched parties because of their principles, but I would prefer it if they only said such silly things in the hope of making me laugh. That’s because I love to laugh, but I hate being taken for a fool. I mean, really, Jim Jeffords wakes up one day when he’s 67 years old and Specter opens his eyes at the age of 79 and suddenly decide that the GOP isn’t as conservative as they’d like, so the solution is to link left arms with the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank?
Something else that makes me wonder if, in a nicer, kinder world, liberals wouldn’t be housed in a warm place where they’d be kept safely away from sharp objects and voting booths, is their notion of what constitutes torture. In my world, cutting off Daniel Pearl’s head, throwing Anne Frank in an oven or having to listen to Chris Matthews, is torture. But by no means is it playing loud music, keeping people awake, making them share space with a caterpillar or even dousing them with water, in order to get them to cough up information that might prevent another 9/11 or keep American soldiers from being ambushed.
Only a liberal could confuse actual torture with college hazing. I suspect there are members of fraternities who could share more harrowing tales than the Islamics with their Korans, their three squares and their personal prayer mats at Gitmo.
Another difference that seems to escape liberals is that it’s torture when the only purpose is to cause pain, not when it’s done in order to pry important information from terrorists.
It’s bad enough that any number of self-righteous academics kept military recruiters off college campuses, pretending that their objection stemmed from the army’s don’t ask/don’t tell policy, and not simply because left-wingers hate anything and everything that smacks of patriotism.
In much the same way, those on the Left have led a crusade against the Boy Scouts of America because, so they say, they oppose the policy of not allowing gay men to be Scout leaders and take young boys into the woods on camping trips. Sensible people regard that as a sensible policy. It’s not to suggest that every gay man is a pedophile, but simply recognizing that most pedophiles are gay men. Just as every Muslim is not a terrorist, just about every terrorist these days is a Muslim. So, why should parents take any unnecessary chances with their most precious possessions just so no one’s feelings get hurt?
Liberals don’t really care about homosexuals, by the way, unless they themselves happen to be gay. The truth is liberals rarely serve in the military now that service is voluntary and they don’t usually let their kids join the Boy Scouts, not because they’re offended by the aforementioned policy, but because the group fosters faith-based and patriotic ideals.
If you want a perfect example of liberal hypocrisy, consider the recent beauty pageant when someone who calls himself, in homage to Paris Hilton, Perez Hilton (born Mario Lavenderia), who had no business even being on stage, got to ask Miss California, Carrie Prejean, how she felt about same-sex marriages. Her honest answer probably cost her the victory, while earning her the respect of most fair and decent Americans.
What I find so telling about the incident was that in California, the reason that the same-sex marriage measure was defeated on the November ballot was because 70% of blacks voted that way. But gay activists only demonstrated outside Catholic and Mormon churches and businesses. Furthermore, I guarantee that if Miss Prejean had been black, instead of a blue-eyed blonde, Mr. Hilton wouldn’t have dared open his ugly little yap.
It’s also worth noting that President Obama gave the exact same answer to the exact same question during the campaign, and yet the gays voted overwhelmingly for him. Which certainly suggests that, thanks to the insane asylums being relatively empty these days, honesty can cost you a tiara, but not the presidency.

When I read this article, my truth-meter exploded. I fear what our country would be today without the sprinkling of leaven that is the faithful Christians (like Mormons) and others who stand up for time-tested virtues (like the patriotism of the Boy Scouts).
Civilized western society rejects everything you stand for. What is so hard to understand about that? We don't torture or practice religious law like a bunch of neanderthals, and we help the downtrodden in our society to make our country stronger. If you don't like it, move to a third world country.

In madness there is no standard, no expectations of any kind. American exceptionalism is a high bar to achieve, it requires personal responsibility, and hard work, all things counter to the mindset of the leftist hive where mediocrity is their gold standard. One of the best articles I have read in a long time. I would make one comment though. The reason they left and gay people give the President a pass on the gay question is because they know he lied. They know he lied to get elected and in fact he would jump at a chance to make gay marriage legal in all states. Any time a lib agrees with a conservative idea on the campaign trail the left will give them a pass because they know its a lie to get independents to vote for them. Even more interesting is that now that Obama is President and he has had to change some of his promises because he has seen the intel reports and realizes that some of the things he promised will get Americans killed. Now the left cries out.

Excellent post, Mr. Prelutsky. I live in a liberal college town, a tiny island of blue in the vast sea of a red state (at least, this part of the state). What's ironic is that technically speaking, the demographics have it as mostly conservative, but it's the liberals who run things here. Why? It's mainly apathy on the part of the general population. Local elections will have a ten to twenty percent turnout, but liberals make up sixty to eighty percent of those voters. Instead of hunting, fishing, picnic-ing,or going to the beach, these people spend their discretionary time writing letters to the editors, and standing on street corners either protesting the war, or supporting the rights of trans-gendered hominoids the right to use women's restrooms. And they elect the type of Pelosi politicians who think globally and act locally.
That's why we have crumbling main streets, and lovely, but very expensive roundabouts replacing four way stops. Our city commisions will visit places (on the tax payers' dime) like Madison, Wisconsin, and then come home to make our town more like Madison, or Berkely. To them, it's a cultural oasis, to me it's becoming the first ring of hell, if by hell, you mean, well, hell.

2) When have "we" not practiced religious law? Someone's view of morality is, and always has been, legislated. Are you talking about "organized" religion, "western" religion, or what?
3) According to archeological evidence, Neanderthals did not practice religious law. They hardly knew how to make tools.

Liberalism is a feel-good beliefs system based on liberals' right to use other people's money. Kind of like a kid who thinks they're entitled to an unlimited allowance by their parents. Which is why liberalism is so persistent, because it takes a lack of economic comprehension to believe there's a never-ending pool of other people's money out there. That sense of entitlement can easily spread over into temper-tantrums when they don't get their way, which then leads to demonization of your enemies.
Kids usually get a 'time out' when they act like that, but once you're out of the house and out from under parental control, there's no check on that type of behavior other than finally maturing and understanding that while you want to do things by spending other people's money and ignoring or eliminating other people's rules through the force of government, there are fellow liberals out there who want to do the same thing to your money and your beliefs, also using government as a way to force you to do what they want.

Question: How many fathers would let a 25 year-old straight male take his 15 year-old daughter on an overnight camping trip? Could he apply to be a Girl Scout leader and take this issue to court if denied his "rights"?
Though you make a good point about pedophila, one doesn't even need to apply this standard when debating this subject. Our society is collectively insane for even debating this topic. Boy scouts range in age from 11 to 18. Even the most astute, morally straight 25 year-old gay man is going to be tempted by sleeping near attractive male teenagers. It simply makes no sense.
When I was 12, I really wanted to be an astronaut. Once I discovered (at that time) that you had to have 20/20 vision to even be considered, I realized that I couldn't be anything I wanted in life. We all must live with limitations. Homosexuals should be free to chose a gay lifestyle, but there has to be consequences to those decisions, otherwise we cannot have a functioning society.

Well they are not being hatched in abortion clinics I can tell you that much with certainty. It is my belief that they are being hatched in public schools. We can go ahead and call them re-education camps if you would like. Of course, in the mind of a liberal (very small apricot like mind that it is) the very real possibility exists that the government should just then 'give' said foreclosed homes to the 'downtrodden' so that we can 'make our country stronger'. Eugenics, that's what abortion is. It does not make our country stronger, yet the liberals would have you believe that they really want to help. How does allowing a minority, and make no mistake about it minorities are the ones most hurt by abortion, who is supposed to be cherished by their party really feel when they are basically told that it is OK for them to murder their babies. What this does, and the ugly truth behind it is, this gets rid of what liberals would consider 'undesirables'. I once again make my case that fascism is liberalism and the two merge once again at abortion and eugenics. It's the same thing. Call it what you want. Spin it how you will, but it's the same.
The real truth is that liberals believe that they have complete control over their environment and conservatives believe that they have no to limited control over their environment. Therefore, conservatives are evil and liberals are good. In the view of the liberal. Whereas to the view of the conservative, liberals are just dumb. 1) I'm not sure what this "shrinking minority" is. Numerous recent polls have clearly demonstrated that Obama is far more popular than his policies. Less Americans believe abortion should be legal in all cases than a decade and a half ago. Americans opposed the bailouts. Americans, in fact, are principled oppositely of what the Democratic party is and what the Republican party has been – less government, less taxes, more personal freedom. The "shrinking" Republican party, the "shrinking" religious right, the "shrinking" number of people against gay marriage don't necessarily mean a "shrinking" conservative base. We live in a time of conundrum: Obama is the least popular and the most popular president in recent memory and his ratings don't indicate anything other than, for whatever reason, half of Americans simply like the guy.
2) Get off it. Prelutsky's not a Christian, as he said. No one wants church and state combined in any way, just the freedom to choose and to practice religion as we please. Don't know why this is such a sticking point or what you're trying to say here…

Which polls indicate that "most Americans" would agree that "traditional values" are "archaic" and "backwards"? In answer to your query, I have it on good authority that liberals are hatched in a top secret complex at Dhimmi Carter's peanut farm. The eggs are all cloned from Garofalo, and the sperm is eagerly donated by Ted Kennedy (or sometimes even extracted while he's in an alcoholic stupor).
The perimeter of the complex is patrolled day and night by special teams of Hamas assassins who are totally loyal to Carter, and who've been promised 72 virgin clones of Garofalo should they sacrifice their lives on this mission.

Fact quibble, Burt: it wasn't budget cuts, and it wasn't just California. It was the 1979 Supreme Court decision in Addison v. I do not get the worshipping obsession of liberals of the Lightworker either. For me it is beyond frustrating at the total lack of common sense applied to the issues of the economy, and social issues. I am not speaking for all Conservatives, but most of us often have our foreheads connect with walls, or our palms when we are constantly told WE are the ones who are close minded morons when it comes to solutions or ideas to these problems. In reality it is quite the opposite.
Here is an example of what I heard the morning that absolutely causes those of us who are Conservatives to want to run out into the street screaming. Bank of America is being leaned on by Obama in replacing their board members. The supposed new members consist of a guy from the Army, another guy from the military, Patricia Mitchell, some Hispanic woman in charge of one of the largest Spanish speaking newspapers, and two other financial types who have had zippo experience needed to right Bank of America. Now if Bush or any Conservative would have proposed to totally trash an entire Board of a business, and replace them with inexperienced political hacks; WE WOULD HAVE BEEN TRASHED! Anybody remember the hoopla over replacing the attorneys who serve at the current President's pleasure? You know, the same type of move made by a one President Clinton! And where are the liberals regarding the "rights" of the individuals who ARE on this Board through PRIVATE business exercises? This whole move smells of mendacity!
In addition, most of us have read, or do read books, and not just the Bible. We are either self-educated, or at least have college degrees and are not total dips. Most Conservatives LOVE having conversations with folks like you Mr. Prelutsky, because we feel like there is hope that together we can solve the problems not only our nation is facing, but those tremendous problems the world is facing. Some of us really are concerned about the entire continent of Africa going up in flames. Our hearts leap with joy when people like Mr. Prelutsky understands we are not knuckle draggers. Well, at least most of us do not fall in that category.
We many not agree on every issue, but we do agree less government restrictions on the individual will equal a better life for all Americans. Whether it is protecting this nation, or allowing the gift of free will to be exercised; more common sense deployed by both parties is strongly needed. Articles like this one go far in buoying my despair that the two sides cannot find ways to unite, and put the "We" back in "We the People".

It was meant to make sure that a Secular head (of any religion) did not get to dictate to the country. Nor the establishment of a National Church (for the same reasons). Not to be used to "prohibit the free exercise thereof".

It's kinda Reagan's fault. When he was Governor of CA, he suspended mental health funding and closed the state run mental hospitals like Patton. All of the crazies ended up in outpatient clinics and on the street. That started the whole ball rolling. Now the lefties have extrapolated that into the crisis we have today with alot of help from the ACLU. If we ever do get a real Republican as Governor again (Probably not in our Lifetime) maybe we could reverse the trend (Fat Chance with the Doemcrat majority in the Legislature). So it goes…..

By my post was about socialism, not democracy. And my point is that there are plenty, plenty of democracies in Europe and Asia that are more socialistic than the US – and they are *not* less democratic for it. Democracy and Socialism aren't mutually exclusive.
So say that Obama is more "socialistic" than Bush…well then, we elected him democratically. We, collectively, wanted this direction. And if, in 2012 or 2016, our nation deems that he's "too sociallistic" then we'll steer ourselves towards something less socialistic. Eitherway – democracy isn't threatened. Is democracy under threat today in European nations? Do we see facism on the rise today in France or Germany, or the UK? They are more socialistic than us, certainly, but yet, amazingly, they are still representative democracies.
I do not believe that our Founding Fathers were unanimous in a crystialized and specific view of how capitalistic or socialistic we should be. (I wonder if those words where really in use then!) But I do know that they envisioned a democratic process where things like this would ebb and flow, and the important thing was that our nation didn't tear itself a part in the winds of that ebb and flow.
