Janeane: An ‘I Hate Myself’ Production
by Burt PrelutskyI’m not of the opinion that a person has to be perfect in order to point out the failings of others, but liberals take it to such an extreme that you have to wonder if they have any self-awareness at all.
I mean, when someone like George Soros, who collaborated with the Nazis, compared George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler, am I the only one who wondered if he meant it as a compliment?
Or take Janeane Garofalo, who says stupid things with such regularity you might take her for a sulky teenager even though she’s 44 years old. Because she is an ignoramus and has the self-righteous attitude of an adolescent brat, she was a perfect fit for Air America, where she and Al Franken competed to see which of them could attract fewer listeners.
For those of you who have managed to go through life without ever having heard the nasty sound bites for which she’s best known, your good luck is about to run out.
On one occasion, she said, “Our country is founded on a sham. Our forefathers were slave-owning rich white guys who wanted it their way. So when I see the American flag, I go, ‘Oh, my god, you’re insulting me.’ That you can have a gay pride parade on Christopher Street in New York, with naked men and women on a float, cheering, ‘We’re here and we’re queer!’ — that’s what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride.”
Another time, she announced, “The world would be better off with multiple superpowers. When the Soviet Union was a superpower, the world was better off.”
I’m sure when she shared that thought with her fellow pinheads on New York’s upper Westside, there was a lot of solemn head nodding and people turning to one another, martini in hand, and saying, “That little girl has a damn good head on her shoulders.”
On the other hand, if she’d made such a moronic statement in Poland, Latvia, Czechoslovakia, East Germany or Hungary, I’d like to think she’d have gotten her block knocked off.
It’s usually difficult to figure out why anyone who grows up with all the advantages that go with being born in America and enjoying a moderately successful career, would hate the country as much as she does. But, at the risk of being tossed out of the layman’s psychiatric association, it’s hard not to view her as someone who has devoted her life to rebelling against mommy and daddy. After all, her mother worked as a secretary in the petrochemical industry and her father was an executive with Enron!
Not too surprisingly, Ms. Garofalo is a confirmed atheist, toured on behalf of Code Pink and campaigned for Howard Dean. Take that, Mom and Dad! For good measure, in the early 90s, she got married in a Vegas chapel. Whether she and the groom, a fellow named Robert Cohen, were or weren’t drunk at the time, they soon separated, although, for reasons of their own, never bothered getting divorced.
Although she came to be fairly well known because of her role in “The Truth About Cats and Dogs,” she claims she despised the movie because she regards it as anti-feminist. One wonders why, that being the case, she didn’t turn down the role after reading the script. But, for someone who is so vehement in her opinions about those she regards as hypocrites, the lady manages to cut herself a great deal of slack.
Ms. Garofalo is barely five feet tall, which meant that in “Cats and Dogs,” because the star was Uma Thurman, she often had to stand on a soap box in scenes with the six-foot tall actress. She must have enjoyed the experience, because in the 13 years since, she has rarely climbed down from her soap box.
Besides having had parents who worked in industries Ms. Garofalo hates, she isn’t too happy about the hand or, rather, the size and shape God dealt her. As she says about prepping to be a stand-up comedienne, “I was a 36C or D and at 5′1″, I knew that being a small person with big boobs standing in front of an audience was not going to be easy. It would be really hard to get people to pay attention to me without mocking me. Getting a breast reduction to prepare for my career was no different from people who work to get good grades to get into a good college to get into a good graduate school to get a good job. I went down to a B-cup, and it was the best thing in the world.”
Now, why would she assume people would mock her just because she was busty? Obviously, it’s because if she were the one sitting in the audience, she’d be the one snickering and heckling. On the other hand, it’s really just about impossible not to mock someone who compares studying hard in college and graduate school to going to a plastic surgeon one afternoon for a breast reduction procedure. Funny, but when I think of something to compare it to, the first thing that comes to mind is a nose job.
She has directed much of her anger over the years at society for putting pressure on women to conform to body image ideals. And yet in pursuit of a feature role in “Jerry Maguire,” she lost a good deal of weight, only to discover that Renee Zellweger had snagged the part.
One could almost feel sorry for her if she wasn’t such a nasty piece of work. When speaking about Sarah Palin, Garofalo said, “There is definitely something wrong about her.” I assumed she had something in mind aside from the governor’s being smart, attractive and happily married. But when she got down to specifics, the best she could come up with was that Gov. Palin was small-minded and mean-spirited, whereas she, herself, is obviously open-minded and a real sweetie pie.
When it comes to right-wingers in general, she brayed, “The reason a person is a conservative Republican is because something is wrong with them. That’s science — that’s neuroscience. You cannot be well-adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a Republican. It’s counter-intuitive.” That’s sure a lot of big words wasted only to prove what a small and petty mind she possesses.
About the recent tea parties, the all-seeing, all-knowing Garofalo, who naturally didn’t attend one, says, “Let’s be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It’s not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea Party was about. They don’t know their history at all. It’s about having a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of tea-bagging rednecks. There is no way around that.”
I can’t help thinking that when the surgeon reduced her breasts, he got carried away and also removed most of her heart. She’s also a sell-out. How else to explain why she’d accept a role on “24,” portraying FBI Special Agent Janis Gold, whose mission is investigating terrorists?
But just maybe Janeane Garofalo isn’t quite as unaware of the sad truth about herself as she would have us believe. After all, it isn’t as if her production company woke up one day and decided to name itself I Hate Myself Productions.

That is beautiful. Yes hard core leftists are deep into self loathing and they project that self loathing onto the rest of us. I remember being at a pro troop rally at the outset of the Iraq Invasion. This Code Pinker shows up into our group with a camera. Now you would think if you were infiltrating a gathering of people who have half a mind to kick your flabby butt you would be incognito..oh not this paragon of human genius…noooooooooo.

I'd have to agree with her – a little, mind you – about the breast reduction comment. She probably would get comments about being busty. However, if that was her main reason for the breast reduction (as opposed to, say, shoulder pain) then she needs councelling. Most women I know – myself included – would simply ignore them or verbally slap them down. Serious surgery seems a little extreme, and it's not like getting good grades at all.
The rest of what she says is incredibly stupid. If she had good, logical arguments in favour of her convictions, she would not feel the need to dismiss her opponents by saying that they're brain damaged racists. Bacause kuh-LEER-ley people can't object to banprupting their great grand children, or worry about national security, or believe that, while slavery and misogyny are always terrible, it was the US that did more to end and limit these evils than some whiney, over privileged white liberal, or the communist ideology of which she is so fond.

I am so tired of people who denounce the Founders on the slave-owner meme. They really need to learn their history. Most of Founders disliked slavery and would have done away with it if they could, but they knew they would never get the Colonies to unite under the Constitution if they held firm on the issue of slavery. They did feel that Americans would never countenance slavery permanently due to the language of the Founding Documents, and so they pulled the Union together and trusted that their descendents would do what they knew was right and self-evident according to Natural Law.
The modern teaching to discredit the Founders and thus, the Constitution and all it stands for by using the slavery argument among others is just one more way the left seeks to weaken our resolve to embrace the freedoms and liberties the Founders attempted to bequeath to us via the COTUS.
I don't know about the self-loathing part but if you look at Penn, JG, Sarandon, Streisand and the rest, these guys seem absolutely misearble and they also like to revel in it.

It's too bad you gave up on 24. Garofalo has barely been in the last several episodes. I'll bet she probably has no more than 2-3 minutes screen time, at most, per episode. They could have just hired a completely unknown actress out of central casting to fill this part for as much time as the character is onscreen.
If she still had the boobs she'd be a different person. I swear. She's made such an effort to de-feminize herself, from the boobs, to the tattoos and the glasses. I'm not sure what her goal is. I can only assume she thinks it makes her seem intellectual. But I have found that if you have a strong intellect, your appearance doesn't matter as much as you think. When I was younger I used to hear I thought you were just going to be a dumb blond– until I got to know you, a lot. But people get over their initial impressions pretty quickly if you have some substance there. Apparently Garofolo is nothing more than an empty facade. She should have kept the boobs.
While in high school, I had to deal with a bully that I pitied. He was more of a dork than I was in those days, but was egged on by a couple of the jocks to hit me whenever they needed a laugh, at both of us dork's expense. I took it for quite some time, asking him not to hit me, why was he looking for approval from those two jerks, etc. Nothing worked, until I finally got fed up and decked him. It sent him to the nurses office needing multiple stitches and I felt rather bad about that. I confronted the two jerks and asked them if they wanted some – they shut up and didn't bother me or the "bully" any more. Maybe they also felt a little guilty about the results themselves – I actually became friends with one of them later in life. Many of these idiotic liberals are like my bully – looking for acceptance from the beautiful people by being the beautiful people's outlets. It tells me that the beautiful people are self-indulgent creatures that only find self-satisfaction through other people's misery, and cowards for not stepping forward to take charge of the misery-making themselves. On the other hand, (sometimes) the bullies are clueless and need some kind of a wakeup call. Maybe not in the form of a left hook, but something that could shake their belief system to the core, hopefully not something like another 9/11. But in regards to Gr-awful-O (loved that one – thanks to whoever came up with it) she seems to be incorrigible. I think that the only way to deal with these hopeless types is through laughter – don't take them seriously, trivialize them and their inane beliefs, pat them on their heads and send them on their way.

Garofalo's major in college was history, but it must have been from the Howard Zinn revisionist POV. She thinks people at Tea Parties didn't understand history, regarding the Boston Tea Party. She doesn't understand the similarities between the protest of the Tea Act and people being mad about voting for a federal representatives, with either a D or R, who just don't care to represent out interests and preserve the principle of limited government.

Remember that little incident during World War II (1942) when Senator Prescott Bush (George W's grandfather, George H.W.'s father) had various of his companies confiscated by an Act of Congress for trading with the enemy. It was these companies that actually helped Hitler's rise to power. Yes, folks, the Bush family money helped people gain power, and while we were at war with Hitler the Bush family was supporting Hitler financially. That's actually treason, but he got a pass on that because he was a U.S. Senator. What kind of logic is that? He should have been tried for treason.

As far as I'm concerned, the only way she can continiue to maintain a presence in the media is by making the outlandish statements she's famous for making. She's no different from Madonna or Britney in that the more attention you can garner translates into more media attention. The best thing anyone could do for her is simply ignore her. She has not been picked up for next seasons 24 and in all liklihood, won't be. Just give her time to sink into oblivion.

Janeane Garofalo has Nazi tendencies. I heard her on Bill Maher say that all Conservatives should be incarcerated. Then I hear her use pseudoscience to explain why Conservatives are genetically different in their brain structures. The Nazis used pseudoscience to explain why they thought Jews were genetically different from Aryans. Then they incarcerated them and it led to the final solution. Heaven forbid this woman ever gets any real power. She would have been perfect working under Himmler or Mengele.

Let's take a closer look at that, shall we? Who are the liberals? They were the creative and non-conformist types; the artists and musicians. Who did they resent? The natural leaders, the cocky, in short the jocks and the popular kids.
At some point, the creative kids realizing that due to genetic or family disadvantage they cannot succeed on those terms. So they go the other way. Knowing that they cannot compete on clothing spending or likeablity, they put on the Morrissey CDs and t-shirts. This is the root of the greivance and victim mentality. Meet the proto-liberal.
Eventually, most grow up, get married and/or a career. Many drop the victim mentality and moderate their views some even become (egads) conservative. Others get a job in acedemia where never mature. Instead they can document and legitimize their grievances with fancy terms like "heteronormative" and "patriarchy".
Of course you're right, the barbs are meant for the likes of Garafolo and the usual suspects.
So you're ok with what garafolo said about conservatives and republicans then?
