Obama, Your Slips Are Showing
by Burt PrelutskyJudging by my e-mail, a great many conservatives are counting down the days until they next get to vote in 2010. They hope and pray that Americans will come to their collective senses and undo some of the horrors unleashed by last November’s election.
Naturally, I hope they’re right. But I’m not sure that it will be enough to sound the alarm that the sky is falling because, by then, I suspect it will have already fallen. Besides, I’m not convinced that most of my fellow citizens have a problem with the direction that Obama, Pelosi and Reid, have taken us during these past few months.
At the rate that Obama and the liberals are going, when it comes to piling up the national debt; nationalizing banks and major companies; scuttling our missile defense system; reaching out to Islamic and Communist tyrants; funding ACORN, AmeriCorps and Hamas; discussing nuclear disarmament with Russia at the same time that Iran, Pakistan and North Korea are gearing up; talking tough to Israel while currying favor with the Arabs and the Islamics; I have no idea what will be left to salvage a year-and-a-half down the road.
Still, if you know where to look, there are certain ironies one might find amusing. For instance, ever since Obama came on the scene, his supporters have insisted that, unlike George W. Bush, Obama would have influence with the other world leaders, particularly with those who speak German, French, Spanish and Italian. How surprised his disciples must have been when Obama begged for European cooperation in fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan and all he heard was a chorus of nein, non, nunca and nospeaka the English.
But, then, anyone who seriously expects the Europeans to take up arms is the same person who believes that rabbits lay Easter eggs. No European nation would want to risk its well-deserved reputation for unenlightened self-interest by ever doing the decent thing.
You might think there would be some small feeling of obligation to the country that saved Europe from the Nazis in the 1940s and from Soviet domination over the following four decades, but that would be asking the impossible of governments that regard gratitude as an unseemly emotion and confuse arrogance with sophistication.
Frankly, if it didn’t constitute such a direct threat to the United States, I would rather enjoy the ongoing spectacle of the Muslims finally, after a thousand years, conquering Europe.
Speaking of Muslims, about whom Obama, as was the case with Bush, can never say enough nice things, I’d like to know why America has decided to sign on as defenders of the faith. We went into Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq and Somalia, to protect people who despise us and want us dead. For good measure, when a tidal wave hit Indonesia, we sent over a billion dollars in aid. That was back before Obama, when a billion dollars was still a lot of money, and was far more than any of the oil-rich nations sent to bail out their fellow Muslims.
One thing I must say for Obama is that he has become very adept at bowing. First there was that memorable kowtow to King Abdullah, and he quickly followed that up by taking numerous bows for the rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips. We are all delighted that, thanks to the U.S. military, the captain was saved, but the only people who deserve congratulations are Commander Frank Castellano, the Navy Seals and the fantastic marksmen who hit their three targets. The only thing the Commander in Chief did was to prolong the nightmare for Capt. Phillips and his family by saying that no action should be taken unless the hostage’s life appeared to be in imminent danger.
If this is the administration’s approach to hostage negotiations, we can better understand why Obama and Biden are insisting that Israel take no preemptive action against Iran. Apparently, no imminent danger can be assumed until Tel Aviv is nuked off the face of the earth.
It pains me to admit it, but there are certain times when I find I am ashamed of my beloved country. One of my saddest moments was watching that last helicopter lifting off from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon, leaving behind our South Vietnamese and Cambodian allies to the tender mercies of Pol Pot and Jane Fonda’s other murderous chums.
Another occasion was when our president went to Europe recently and, doing his rather uncanny impression of Michael Moore, apologized for American arrogance. Naturally, his own arrogant words were greeted with great applause from a pack of jackals who would have been under the boot of Hitler or Stalin, except for America’s hatred of tyranny, its unrivaled display of courage and fortitude, and its sacrifice of treasure and blood.
It is at such times that one can easily understand why the question about Obama’s citizenship continues to plague so many people. Which leads me to admit that I have always been befuddled by the notion of dual-citizenship. As a concept, it’s illogical. As a matter of national policy, it’s insane. What truly confounds me is how it’s possible that dual citizenship is legal, but bigamy isn’t.
Along similar lines, I have long wondered how it is that something as asinine and clearly un-American as the Congressional Black Caucus can exist. I mean, as embarrassing as the rest of Congress is, these jackasses take the prize. The idea that members of the House should be separated on the basis of color, even on a voluntary basis, is undeniably racist. Still, I can see where if I were a congressman, I would welcome any excuse to be as far away as possible from the left-wing lunkheads who make up the Caucus.
Six of its members, Barbara Lee, Bobby Rush, Melvin Watt, Laura Richardson, Marcia Fudge and Emanuel Cleaver II, flew down to Cuba on a junket and came home raving about their visit to Castroland.
In their collective ability to turn a blind eye to the victims of this 50 year old Communist tyranny, the dirty half dozen remind me of the dupes who came back from the Soviet Union in the 1930s, rhapsodizing about the glories of the workers’ paradise, while managing to overlook the intentional starvation of millions of peasants, the torture and executions of anti-Communist intellectuals, the Siberian gulags, rampant anti-Semitism and political assassinations.
Behind their backs, Stalin referred to them as useful idiots. However, I think when it comes to Barbara Lee and her fellow loonies, even Stalin would have been hard-pressed to call them anything but useless.

Burt, I say you should rephrase this line:
It pains me to admit it, but there are certain times when I find I am ashamed of my beloved country.
Ashamed in the elected leadership of our country at any given time, acceptable.. but ashamed of our country? NEVER!
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
"Judging by my e-mail, a great many conservatives are counting down the days until they next get to vote in 2010. They hope and pray that Americans will come to their collective senses and undo some of the horrors unleashed by last November’s election."
Hopefully by then we will still be ALLOWED to vote. If the left have their way we wont.
The country will survive however there are times when it truly tests ones ability to maintain a positive attitude. The Black Caucus has always been a sore spot with me. How can it be allowed to continue? Why isn't there a Latino Caucus, an Asian Caucus, or heaven forbid a White Caucus. I disagree with drawing racial lines anywhere, how can our elected officials be allowed to do this. Ohh well they do it, and it is a snub and disgrace to everyone who is an American citizen.
The Marxist handbook Page One: 'The Big Lie' Repeat it often enough ("Bush lied, kids died") and it becomes fact. If you question the Big Lie you are to be ridiculed first, then silenced next. Understand that the student radicals of the 60's are in power (John Podesta, the Clintons, etc) and even though they have discovered the joys of fascism their real allegiance is to Big Government Progressive Socialism.
And you are seeing this play out on a broad canvas as we speak…
I fear for my country and I am ashamed of its current leadership, but I can never be ashamed of my country. Believing that socialism can create a worker's paradise is a fantasy akin to believing in Santa Claus. Nowhere in the real world has socialism produced a society that is anything but repressive and empty. As has been said: "Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth; socialism is the equal distribution of poverty".
The only ones poised to gain from the oncoming socialist whirlwind are 1) those involved in politics 2) those involved in crime.
But then that is a Capitalistic way of looking at things in the coming socialist nation, there is no gains, just equality.
That was just fabulous, Burt.
Normally I'd add my .2 worth to such blogs, but in this case you really said it all,
and quite eloquently at that.
I always have hope because Conservativism is based on reality, and reality is…well, you know, real. Ergo, the fantasy that libs live in will eventually crumble. The only question is how much damage the delusional will do before the collapse. Judging by the Tea Party response today, it won't be that much. Le Resistance lives on.
google the title 'Second American Revolution Countdown' and read the facts. I really don't think we will have another free election now that Obama has politicized the Census ( to steal more seats in the house through political redistricting in the illegal way), illegal immigrants he is about to make citizens, the CRA still in effect that will continue to destroy the banking sector, the heavy handed fascism now being shown and most of all what I expect as the nail in the coffin of the Republic: Gun confiscations via something like HR45 once it is given teeth. America is going to erupt and it isn't going to be to Obama's liking. I just hope that what comes of it all isn't an even more power hungry government that this totally Fascist Regime that we now have in Washington.
I will die before giving up my right to bear arms, and so will millions more Americans. There isn't a force on earth that will stop us Obama.
Well said Burt. Please allow me to nitpick on two small details;
1. It's not really the Congressional Black Caucus – it is the Marxists with Dark Complexions Caucus. The name was shortened to fit on business cards.
2. "For instance, ever since Obama came on the scene, his supporters have insisted that, unlike George W. Bush, Obama would have influence with the other world leaders… "
His disciples want us to be liked. Not respected or expected to lead. That's crazy imperialist talk.
Yeah. Let's see if B. Hussein gets reelected.
Nope.
All we need is a new "Reagan".
That's a nice Hallmark sentiment but it's just not accurate. A 'country' is many things, but in this case America is its people. Obama and that loathsome Pelosi broad didn't get elected by magic. America the country elected them, and Americans will get what they deserve.
"The only ones poised to gain from the oncoming socialist whirlwind are 1) those involved in politics 2) those involved in crime. "
But then, you repeat yourself…
How do you think the idea of the Congressional White Caucus would fly? Or maybe the Congressional Heterosexual Male Caucus?
"The only ones poised to gain from the oncoming socialist whirlwind are 1) those involved in politics 2) those involved in crime."
But then, you repeat yourself.
Possible duplicate–post disappeared…
GTFlyBy,
You are correct. Unfortunately, the rest of us will also get what's coming to "them". We did not ask for it, but we are dead-center in the middle of the road and here comes the bull-dozer.
You mean Santa Claus is not real?? Jeeze, there goes my day………………………….
Iron G.,
I'd settle for the old one. If only we could have him back…………………………
And that's the truly sad reality. The good news, I hear talk Texas talking about secession.
Very well expressed Burt.

if the left have their way we will get to vote but it will not count. Just like Korea, Russia, etc.
The tyranny of simple (really) democracy. The slow witted majority dooms the rest of us guys.
Cool, who would have though!
Like a rock.
It would be automatically touted as "rascist".
It's the archetype liberal kneejerk reaction.
GTFlyBy: You laid out the classic political/philosophical truism: "A people gets the form of government it deserves." Fortunately, in America that's not permanent. 2010 isn't that far away, so it's time for us to prove we deserve better.
While Burt's piece is a bit of a downer, the sentence "I have no idea what will be left to salvage a year-and-a-half down the road " actually kind of cheered me up. Not because of the salvage part, obviously, but because of the year and half part. A year and a half? Only a year and half left to the congressional elections! Not TWO years any more! Woohoo! I hadn't looked at it that way. The glass is 1/4 full already. Small consolation, I know, but I'll take what I can get (bailouts not included). Add to that the Tea Parties going on since February, and especially today, and I might even crack a smile.
Yep. As I've said before, there's an upside to everything. Of course, my liberal friends are starting to call me Pollyanna.

It's more like "a people gets the form of government the majority of voters deserve, good and hard" to mangle a similar quote.
All we need is a new "Reagan".
He better show up soon. Both Obama and Clinton started making campaign noises 2 or 3 years in advance of their elections.
I also hope whomever the next presidential candidate our side comes up with will be "young-ish". I hate to reduce my fellow voting Americans down to casting ballots on the basis of something so shallow as age or looks. Looking back at recent contests though, the younger man has one 4 out of the last 5:
Obama, age 47 – McCain age 72;
GW Bush 58 – John Kerry – 61;
GW Bush 54 – AlGore 52 (very, very close);
Bill Clinton 50 – Bob Dole 73;
Bill Clinton 46 – GHW Bush 68
I know before these guys, Reagan (and GHW Bush because of Reagan's record) was older than his opponents, but Reagan was exceptional all the way around.
I have only one thing to say …. God Bless the Republic of Texas!
Sounds like a union election.
Even in his current state, Reagan would be better than Obama.
Add Christian or Jewish and you've got a complete non-starter.
Next they'll be telling us there's no Easter Bunny.
With all the darkness of the current Marxist politicos in DC, it was refreshing today to see Americans protesting on behalf of liberty.
Look up, fellow Americans, "this too shall pass".
Texas—first State officially on the "Watch List"
As a native Californian who never thought of ever leaving, Texas is looking real good for a whole host of reasons.
Rick Perry for president 2012.
at this point i'd settle for Tyler Perry, Steve Perry, Katy Perry or even the obnoxious Dr. Perry Cox on Scrubs…

I am afraid it is going to have to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. How much worse it's hard to say. But look at how bad things are in Britain and in Europe as a whole, yet the socialists there are still harder to get rid of than cockroaches.
the big difference between us and the socialist countries of Europe and elsewhere, is that our country is based on individual freedoms, and the power of the individual to do good, not on a government dictating how individuals need to live for the betterment of the whole.
[...] Big Hollywood: Obama, Your Slips Are Showing [...]
I just don't see the numbers in polls and such for Conservatives to make a comeback in 2010 or 2012. Too many people in "socialist" areas of the country have invested too much time, money, lies, and efforts to finding a way around voting laws. Much as I love reading and agreeing with Big Hollywood and other conservative commentary, the conservatives are in a mess. This country has turned the corner, I am afraid, and the majority wants socialism and irresponsible liberalism.
I want to be wrong. I hope I am wrong and we pull off another 1994, but I just don't see it in the polls and what I hear outside the blogs. The law abiding citizenship seems to have finally been outnumbered by the free-loaders and pop-culture consumers.
Burt, all very well said but remember that Bush was very nearly as bad about discouraging Israel from striking Iranian nuclear facilities. For me, the worst mistake the last administration made was letting Iran run out the clock on them. I fear history will rightly blame Bush as much as Obama for the tragedies about to unfold.
I guess your first mistake was in paying attention to anything other than conservative blogs

Now the fool has released to the world and jihadists all our techniques of interrogation! Was this callow strutter even born when the 9/11 attack took place? What planet was he on during the London, Spain, Bali, and many other bombings? Was he in some coma when all the plots were uncovered for additional attacks? We have elected a sophomoric wingnut and put him in charge of our security. Which means we are much, much less secure–and all so he can look good to his minions.
