OK. One last time. I did NOT say I thought marijuana should be made legal. I explained at length that we needed to look at alternatives for the war on drugs, and made it very clear that I do NOT claim to have the solution. I posed questions, I did not reach any conclusions (except for believing that the war on drugs is an utter disaster). You start your posts with "So it's OK to . . . ." and then proceed to put words in my mouth. I am fully aware of what a gateway drug is, and alcohol is the biggest gateway drug of all (ask anyone in AA or drug programs). And finally, I neither talked down to you nor patronized you. I merely responded to sarcasm with an equal level of sarcasm. I wasn't even necessarily disagreeing with you.

So, it's okay to even have more drugs to be out on the market, making them more addictive?? Plus marijuana is commonly known as a "gateway" drug (excuse me if you don't know that term, but it helps to hook people into harder drugs like heroin). Missing your "lengthy post" doesn't mean I missed what you meant – that you think marijuana should be legal. Talking down to people and being patronizing doesn't really help your argument, by the way

"Common Sense" should be mandatory reading by all members of congress, on a regular basis. Display it on a computer, with a biometric eye scanner to detect eye movement to confirm without a doubt that the entire pamphlet was read. Make congressmen do it once a month, every month, for as long as they serve.

Yes, just like it would be fine and dandy for them to be drunk. You apparently missed the lengthy post I did a couple of days ago discussing exactly this subject. Booze is perfectly legal. But being under the influence is not only illegal for pilots and doctors while performing their duties, it's illegal for anyone driving an automobile. Anyone who would cheat on those rules would likely do so whether their drug of choice is legal or not.

Man, you don't want the UK national health service over here, believe me. I lived there for eight years, and the horror stories!! From my friends, too. And once you're over 60 or so, forget any kind of reasonable care.
