The Slobbering Sycophants of the MSM
by Burt PrelutskyIt wasn’t that long ago that my friend Bernard Goldberg told me he was never going to write another book. It was just a lot of hard work, he complained, and while he was working on one, virtually all joy was sucked out of his life. It made perfect sense to me. Besides, books take a lot of time to write and Bernie, who wishes he’d grown another foot-and-a-half so he could have competed in the NBA, still needs to work on his hook shot.
Well, he lied. But at least it was in a good cause. I just read his latest slice-and-dice of the liberal media, “A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (and Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media,” and I was reminded what a travesty the MSM made of the 1st amendment in its desire to ensure Obama’s victory.
There was a time, after all, when Americans actually had a rather high opinion of those who brought us the news in a fair and reasonably objective manner, and when editors and publishers didn’t allow their opinions to bleed all over the rest of the newspaper. But those days are long gone. Today, nobody trusts print or TV journalists. Liberals may have been delighted to find the MSM working overtime to get their guy elected last year, but in the final analysis nobody respects a whore. Americans, whatever their politics, have no more reason to believe what they’re told by the members of the fourth estate than the Russians had when their news source was Pravda, Stalin’s propaganda machine.
As Goldberg makes clear, the shame of the MSM during the presidential election wasn’t simply that they couldn’t mention Barack Obama’s name without swooning, although it did get awfully embarrassing. Giggly teenage girls at a Jonas Brothers concert behaved with more restraint than Chris Matthews.
Worse yet was the way the media kept anything negative about their Lochinvar under wraps. So it was that although Rolling Stone, as early as February, 2007, in a profile of Sen. Obama, wrote about his friend and religious mentor, the loony racist, Jeremiah Wright, the MSM totally ignored the connection until bloggers and Sean Hannity forced the issue. Even then, the media merely took its lead from Obama. When the candidate claimed that in 20 years, he’d never heard his minister say anything hateful about America or white people, they went along with it. When Obama dismissed Wright’s rants as sound bites taken out of context, that was good enough for the MSM. When Obama said that he would never turn his back on Wright, they praised him for his loyalty. Then, when Wright kept repeating those “sound bites” and Obama hurled his worthless carcass under the bus, the MSM praised him for his resolve.
When some people questioned how Obama could have sat in that cesspool of a church for a thousand Sundays, Obama said that anyone who would ask such a rude question was obviously a racist, knowing full well that the MSM, aka the amen corner, could be counted on not only to parrot his words, but to clap hands and shout “Hallelujah!”
If some of us began to confuse news stories about Obama with his campaign press releases, it’s because they were interchangeable, although the press releases tended to be more restrained and, usually, better written.
When Geraldine Ferraro dared to point out that if he were white, the inexperienced Obama would not be running for president, there was such a firestorm of media outrage that Hillary Clinton had to toss her under the bus. Clearly, though, when 90% of blacks were voting for Obama when he was running against someone as liberal as Sen. Clinton, it should have been pretty obvious to one and all that the allegedly post-racial candidate was about as post-racial as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or Jeremiah Wright. Considering how cynical the members of the press like to consider themselves, it’s rather amusing how naive and, well, slobbering the members of the press can be when they really put their minds to it.
The members of the MSM, as Goldberg makes perfectly clear in 173 very readable pages, went completely in the tank to ensure that Obama would be the 44th president of the United States. But they paid a terrible price. They showed themselves to be nothing more than partisan hacks. And in the end, Obama owed his victory more to the financial meltdown than to their ethical meltdown.
Is it any wonder that newspapers are barely hanging on, that network news shows are seeing their audiences evaporate like the morning dew, and that MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann could double their ratings if only they could finally convince their fathers to tune in?
The MSM reminds me of Marlon Brando’s character in “On the Waterfront.” By taking a dive, they’ve forfeited their chance to be contenders…for our respect. Instead, like Terry Malloy, they’re just bums.

The hubristic MSM liberal press would rather run every newspaper and news program into the ground than admit they were less than fair and balanced about their Messiah’s campaign. Liberalism is an emotional disorder.
Case in point – I read the Matt Damon article on this site where he stated that a defender of President Bush on the war in Iraq is an idiot, because we declared victory. Yet in this same article, he says he had to tell his 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER that there was no Santa Claus. She’s 10 and still believes in Santa Claus, Matt? Now who’s the idiot? I hope you never make another Bourne movie, you’re communistic bias against our previous President has ruined the character for me forever. Thanks Heaps. WHY DON’T ACTORS JUST SHUT UP AND ACT?!!! I could care less about their politics. You don’t hear Clint Eastwood, Jon Voight, or Kelsey Grammar grabbing any reporter who will listen and ranting on and on about their political views.
If Leftism is to succeed, the First Amendment must go. Freedom of Speech, Assembly, Religion and Press. No Leftist nation has any of those.
As the ‘Fairness Doctrine” looms, here is the real Obama:

Good job Bernie. The future doesn’t belong to those who walk on eggshells.
I don’t think that the 1st amendment says anything about the press needing to be impartial. Actually I much prefer it this way now that it has become so obvious and out in the open. I only wish the MSM would just admit it. In Jefferson’s day there were thousands of newspapers and they all took sides… They were partisan as hell and you knew what you were buying. I wonder at what point in history the media first felt that it needed to be impartial. Probably with the advent of TV.
Bill O’Reilly is pointing out that the MSM paid a HEAVY price, and has been paying a heavy price for some time now, over their obvious partisanship:
http://townhall.com/columnists/BillOReilly/2009/01/24/the_collapse_of_the_left-wing_media?page=full&comments=true
——————–
Yes, yes, I realize O’Reilly is a moderate who constantly plays the left and right off of each other for ratings, but he does skew right far more often than left, and here he really goes after the MSM with both barrells:
The Collapse of the Left-Wing Media
The Seattle paper will cease publication in March unless a buyer is found. Even though it can’t pay its bills, the Post-Intelligencer should have been inducted into the left-wing hall of fame after its publisher told the FBI to buzz off when the agency asked for media help in locating two possible terror suspects.
The Minneapolis paper, dubbed the Red Star by some in Minnesota, filed for bankruptcy after its earnings dropped more than 50 percent in one year. That despite the presidential vote and a vicious election between Sen. Norm Coleman and Al Franken.
As for The New York Times: It is Twilight Zone time. The paper was already trying to use equity in its Manhattan office building to pay debts, and now has borrowed $250 million from Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helu. And get this: The Times is paying old Carlos an astounding 14 percent interest. What, was Tony Soprano not available? Does the description “loan shark” mean anything to the ideologues running the Times? The prime lending rate in America is 3.25 percent, and these guys are paying Carlos Slim 14 percent. Wow.
On the TV front, the uber-liberal, Bush-hating MSNBC network ranked 31 in total day ratings for the first two weeks of January. I think that’s right behind the “Roller Derby Channel.” General Electric, which owns NBC, has taken a sharp turn to the left in its corporate philosophy and, at the same time, is watching its stock price decline from about $50 a share to around $13. The fact that GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt still has his job ranks up there with the miracle of the U.S. Airways water landing.
Why are the liberal media taking a pounding when the left now controls Congress and the Oval Office? It may be because of the economy. After the recession blindsided the folks last fall, anger filled the air. Why weren’t we warned that the financial industry was awash in bad housing loans? President Bush and Sen. John McCain had no answer. So the folks voted for the Democrats.
But that doesn’t mean the American people became liberals overnight. In fact, some folks became even more conservative with their spending and lifestyles. The images of left-wing media people gloating over the failure of the Bush administration did not cheer many people up. In fact, I believe it teed a lot of them off.
Despite the power shift in Washington, America remains a traditional country that largely rejects big government and radical social change. The former hippies running the crazy-left media will never get that. They believe most Americans want gay marriage, political correctness and unfettered abortion. They believe everyday folks think ponytails and pierced ears on old guys are cool.
Well, these Abbie Hoffman wannabes are sadly out of touch. And soon, maybe out of work.
Well, they’ve sure earned the bailout bucks they’ll certainly receive, so I wouldn’t expect lame-stream media darlings to show up in bread lines and soup kitchens anytime soon, and yes, that is a damnable pity.
The first amendment says ‘freedom of the press.’ Obama’s fairness doctrine destroys that. And the rest is sure to follow.
Impartiality in journalism came from pride, integrity and respect for the medium. (past tense)
Wow, there’s a shocker. Bernie Goldberg still bleating about the MSM like a jilted prom date. And of course picking up a little coin while bleating. Kinsley had some fun ’slicing an dicing’ the bitter old dude back when he published his first fine whine:
Like a stopped clock, Goldberg isn’t always wrong. He’s probably sincere. But he’s remarkably dense. And you have to wonder whether his glorifiers are just as dense, or deeply cynical, or living on a different planet. Do they really think it is devastating evidence of bias that a TV producer would decide to label a full-time ideologue like Phyllis Schlafly as “conservative” but not feel obliged to label avocational activist Rosie O’Donnell as “liberal”?
Anyway, Burt. Thanks for the scintillating post. It’s about time someone on the Right stood up and boldly identified this horrific bias, particularly as it relates to Obama. Gosh. No one’s ever done that before.
Heh.
The Left doesn’t have to do a thing to the 1st or 2nd Amendment to get its way.
Why not? Because the power to tax is the power to destroy. We can keep our guns and mutter all the complaints we want but they’ve got all our money and are giving it to their friends.
The country and our lives run on money and liberty to keep our property and how we choose to spend or use it. Take our money, and speech and guns are worthless.
What are we going to do? Take up arms against a nation with the hundreds of thousands of police, and 1.5 million men in the armed forces which is the greatest fighting force in the history of the world?
Nope. We will wail while they drive us into poverty.
When Obama gave his coming out speech at the 2004 convention, I was very impressed with his composure, his ability to use words to connect to the audience, and his rhetoric that cut across party lines. And I said, “Look out. This guy is going to run for president.” I know that I was not the only one that night who sat up and took notice. The next day, the MSM was all over the story of this young black Congressman from Illinois so that anyone who didn’t see him speak would be able to jump on board the bandwagon of hope.
Thus began the nationwide love affair. I don’t know how many more speechs or appearances he made between that night and the month or two before he decided to run for the office, but I believe that the Democratic machine was running in high gear getting the MSM primed to be the official home of Obamania.
The question is, dear posters, is there any chance that the MSM will ever be able to fully clean up their image, or are they now and forever just to be as distrusted, discredited, and disingenuous as Pravda?
Thank you for this. I was not aware of this book. I look forward to reading it.
But I do hope it answers one question: Why did the MSM do this?
Anyone who denies the shameless campaigning for Barack Obama that the MSM participated in this election is willfully blind. The question I’ve been asking myself since the election is why? What did they hope to gain? What about Barack Obama is so important that they had to make sure he won?
I have never heard anyone ask this question, much less offer an answer or even a theory.
Bernie Goldberg still bleating about the MSM like a jilted prom date. And of course picking up a little coin while bleating
I have no objection to Goldberg making money; in fact, given the valuable public service he’s performed, I hope he lives long and prospers. (Are you similiarly upset about how Gore is raking in the bucks with his global warming swindle?) Goldberg could have simply continued to go along with the MSM charade.
You quote Kinsley:
But he’s remarkably dense. And you have to wonder whether his glorifiers are just as dense, or deeply cynical, or living on a different planet. Do they really think it is devastating evidence of bias that a TV producer would decide to label a full-time ideologue like Phyllis Schlafly as “conservative” but not
feel obliged to label avocational activist Rosie O’Donnell as “liberal”?
Uh, all that shows me is that it’s Kinsley who is the dense one. Look, it’s a given that if a Republican is involved in a scandal, the fact that he’s a Republican gets mentioned right in the first sentence. When a Democrat is involved, suddenly the crooked pol becomes “a person of no party. Recently, a mayor in my home state was caught soliciting a teenage girl at a local mall. The newspaper story I read about it somehow entirely neglected to inform us that the mayor is Democrat.
Of course, liberals scoff at media bias and refuse to admit it exists. Fish don’t know they’re wet.
I’ll give them two months max before they turn on Obama.
.
MO asked What did they hope to gain? What about Barack Obama is so important that they had to make sure he won?
The MSM, being the left leaning sycophants they are, wanted to help the Democrats return the Great Liberal Way to the forefront of our society. They think that keeping the masses from determining their own path through life, they themselves will be a part of the ruling class. Of course they won’t be truthful enough to make any correlations to the old Soviet Union, but that is the kind of society they would love to be a part of. Except for the totalitarianism aspects of it. They want to keep the appearances of Freedom in place because they see they could be swept aside just as easily as the ideals we have been working for over the last fifty years.
And it’s the Obama bandwagon because he is a symbol of some of those ideals that we have been striving for; a blindness to color, the ability to come from nothing and succeed, and the desire to unite us all for the betterment of all.
What REALLY irritates me about the MSM is their sanctimonious attitude of “we’re objective – you are just imagining our bias”.
I do believe along with Burt that it was ultimately the financial meltdown that insured an Obama victory but to see how the MSM treated Sarah Palin vs Team Obama was particularly ingratiating.
There are dozens of examples of their bias for just this election cycle – let’s start with Tom Foley – 5 weeks of front page coverage of his lurid email vs his successor – just as big a slime ball with the way he treated his staffer –
Well, I am preaching to the choir here but if you want to play an intellectual game think of a Republican scandal they milked for all it was worth vs a similar Democrat scandal.
I think ideally a paper should make both left and right mad with investigative journalism but it is, alas, simply agenda journalism.
I’m going to have a party when the LA Times folds…
And for those of you who think newspaper’s decline is inevitable due to the internet I like to think of what W.R. Hearst, if he was alive today, could have done. He’d have papers that we all would want to read.
Just to be clear, the complaint about liberal bias in the MSM is hardly new, in fact it started with Nixon back in ‘68, and has been a part of the conservative theology ever since. The latter then, is based primarily on anecdote and faith, and one need only look at the usually even-handed Hudnall’s comment on this thread to see just how much it deranges some folks. Funny, tho’. That same bias didn’t stop Reagan, or Bush, or the second Bush. The same bias didn’t stop the MSM from whole-heartedly supporting the onset of the Iraq War.
But for some reason, it’s a powerful excuse and alibi when the GOP candidate loses. Then it’s a Death Star, for god’s sake, and we must do everything in our power to stop it!!
This is a fairy tale for gullible children.
Harley: …”just to be clear…”? Har, har, har. For one, the bias has been so thoroughly and objectively quantified (George Mason University studies, Harvard Project for Excellence in Journalism studies etc. ad nauseum), and so subjectively, viscerally understood now by so many Americans, it’s too late for the “anecdotal” dismissals and claims of conservative hysteria. It’s just too late. And yes, Reagan’s victory in the face of it 28 years ago was something of a miracle, perhaps less of a miracle only because of his body of work and place in the American consciousness at the time. The issue with Obama was the tabula rasa of his political being. No one knew who he was or what he was; the media’s nonfeasance in describing him, in filling in the complete objective circumstances of his background, and their determination not to allow him to be defined, to scumble his radicalism and explain away every important and damning bit of truth about him, turned mere bias into activist intervention and finally fiduciary breach. But what we saw for the first time was the media realizing its long-held vision of a gatekeeper role in the governing of America.
Their sense of destiny and social power has been evolving. I suggest Robert Kaplan’s essay “The Media and Medievalism” for a devastating psycho-exegesis of liberal (or “cosmopolitan,” as he calls it) media self-identity and will to power. Chilling and, as it was written a few years ago, prescient. Kaplan is a liberal, by the way. That is, the old school kind – the ones who haven’t surrendered their intellects to orthodoxy.
As I have said elsewhere, BO is the first Affirmative Action President of the US. Lets hope he is the last.
I would like to think that merit will continue to be in vogue. If so, Keith Olberman will soon lose his job and be waiting tables at Denny’s.
If there is a God, this will happen in my lifetime!
To Harley,
No fan of the GOP and of Senator McCain. Having said that, you would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to suggest that MSM and CNBC are not totally in the tank for the great one.
C’mon, confession is good for the soul.
Everything written in the above article is 100% spot-on, but with the MSM controlling the airwaves and so many of the “swing voters” easily influenced by them, I doubt that many liberals/moderates will read Mr. Goldberg’s book because it casts doubt on “The Messiah” and won’t be promoted.
Another excellent, and apparently overlooked, book on “The One” is “The Case Against Barack Obama.” Sadly, not enough people read that either or the 2008 election would’ve had a much different result.
As much fun as it’s going to be to watch Obama’s inevitable screw-ups, our country is going to pay a terrible price under his leadership. May God help us all.
I’m happy to concede the bias in the MSM. Though it’s far more complicated then you’re assuming. Just to take a couple examples. There was no tougher — and frequently inaccurate — source when it came to damaging Whitewater stories than the New York Times. Or how about Judy Miller and her stovepiped, and frequently incorrect information about Saddam’s WMDs? Also in the New York Times. Or how about ‘Steno’ Sue Schmdit who parroted the Bush admin. line for nearly eight years at the Washington Post?
But sure. You can put the NYT and a number of other newspapers in the left or left of center column. Just like you can put the WSJ and the Washington Times in the right. You can certainly put MSNBC in the left column — that’s a business move that has increased their ratings to a significant degree. And where did they get that idea? By watching the success of the rightward oriented Fox News.
As for being in the tank for Obama? I dunno. It’s clear that there was a lot of enthusiasm for a new face and a new approach. Obama certainly offered that, and he was lucky enough to offer it during the waning years of a very unpopular president. (Reagan benefited from the same political context.) But the MSM had no difficulty playing Jeremiah Wright sermons for week after week. And anyone who saw the Pennsylvania debate, where the first 45 minutes were about, and only about, Wright and Ayers, etc., would ever suggest Charlie Gibson was in the tank for the Anointed One.
Anyway, it’s a circumstance that requires something more than a slogan, if only because the MSM is made up of so many moving parts. (And by the way, I included Talk Radio in the MSM, and the rightward tilt there is well documented). But more importantly, it becomes a kind of crutch that folks use to explain their failures, or the failures of their party’s chosen candidate. You already have one lackwit on this thread who’s suggesting that Obama is an affirmative action President. Setting aside the racist subtext in the remark, it’s also lazy thinking that will make it harder, not easier, to win the Oval Office the next time around.
Blaming the MSM for Obama’s election — separable from recognizing the MSM favors him, btw — makes it all too easy to ignore the various failures in the McCain campaign specifically, and the GOP generally, when it came to the last election.
In other words? The political landscape in this country is changing at an impressive speed. Blaming the media for every ill that befalls your ideology? That’s looking backward when the best course is to look ahead.
Oh, and quickly to Raven. I have no quarrel with either mentioned study, they come from reputable sources. I do find it amusing that the supposed liberal bias that is an infecting cancer in academia — often seen as worse than the one in the MSM — doesn’t come into play here. As long as you agree with the results.
Goldberg is intelligent, humorous and right on target! I’m glad he lied and wrote the book! We sell his new book in our ConservativeAmerican.org store. Click on Peter Andrew to visit our site and store.
Some of the comments mentioned the Fairness Doctrine. If they want to bring that up, let them! Wouldn’t fairness mean that we’d get a conservative American news program for a half hour each night after Katie Couric’s program? That would be fair, right? We say if they want a fight over the Fairness Doctrine, bring it on! Read more:

If only Colin Powell, instead of Obama, would have been our first black president by winning on the Republican ticket in ‘96.
African-Americans might now be free to support the party of Abraham Lincoln without having leftists throw Oreos at ‘em.
Quoting Michael Kinsley (Slate.com, wapo) to discredit Goldberg is like quoting a Johns Hopkins University grad tax cheat who can’t even use TurboTax properly and who let his housekeeper’s work authorization lapse during the last three months she worked for him to discredit Joe the Plumber.
Michel Kinsley made headlines for lying about Bill O’Reilly’s family (but then when Kinsley lied, no one died … there’s that). But his greatest accomplishment is his being credited for the “Kinsley Gaffe.” Here’s a recent example with one degree of separation (it is a co-vice-presidency, isn’t it?):
The wife of Vice President-elect Joe Biden let it slip to Oprah Winfrey Monday [January 19, 2009] that her husband had a pick of two jobs in the Obama administration.
Jill Biden said President-elect Barack Obama gave Biden the choice of being secretary of state or vice president. The vice president-elect tried to hush his wife as soon as the words came out of her mouth, with a loud “shhh!” that sent the audience into laughter.
They really are meant for one another …
And how about this for the audacity of Goldberg’s mercenary motives?
For Mo at 3:35 PM who asks WHY the media would push so hard for Obama to be elected, here is the answer: Some of us who will never forget, watched in cold silence and dread when Russian Premier Nikita Kruschev visited the US in the early 60’s and spent the whole time shouting that he would destroy our country. His words were “.. We will destroy you from within….we will not have to fire a single shot…” (paraphrased). He told us our grandchildren would be living under communism within 40 years. In order to accomplish this, he would have to attack and destroy the 4 cornerstones of our democracy: Education, the family, religion and business. Look at the state of our public education – I would say he has accomplished his goal. Look at our family structure – 60% divorce rate – Latchkey kids with no fathers in the home. Religion? now removed from almost every aspect of our lives to the point schools will not allow a moment of silence at the beginning of the school day. With our banks and auto industry almost at the point of government take-over, it’s safe to say he’s met that goal too. What’s next? Destruction of our Constitution. The First Amendment is in Obama’s sights, right along with the Second, and before you can whistle Dixie, plans to redistribute the country’s wealth from the producers to the non-producers will be just what Kruschev planned; the complete collapse of our system of government, resulting in anarchy. Read Sol Alinsky to see the role the MSM and Obama plays in this Marxists’ dream come true.
Boycott newspapers, all news stations except for Fox, liberal celebrities; see http://www.boycottliberalism.com for a who’s who. Any movies that have liberal actors, directors, producers etc. Call your congressmen and tell them to vote NO to this stimulus package which frankly won’t work. Get involved, tell your friends and family to do the same. Research, read: Liberal Facism, FDR’s Folly, The Forgotten Man, etc. Thanks for more expose on the MSM’s working the party line of the Communist Manifesto. Idiot, insane actors I can totally do without: Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Jane Fonda (traitor & communist lover)Ted Turner (total communist lover) Danny Devito,Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Paul Newman, George Clooney, etc. See CNIN the Conservative News Intelligence Network on the internet! Mitt Romney & Sarah Palin are my vote for 2012! This past election was another replay of Ford defeating Reagon, he came back stronger than ever and won by a landslide. Let’s make it happen!
“Mo – January 25th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Thank you for this. I was not aware of this book. I look forward to reading it.
But I do hope it answers one question: Why did the MSM do this?”
because when they restricted advertising for liquor and tobacco they lost a huge revenue stream.
then, in following rupert’s usa today tabloid pandering to the sensational example they recovered.
they market what people advertise to people who buy it. always have done.
when ppl no longer want what they offer, the lose clientele, after that they lose advertisers. for a long time they can give away newspapers and throw them away and keep inflated subscriber lists, but that isn’t sustainable.
they’ve all been replaced by the internet anyway. the only people who read paper these days are ones who lack a computer or can’t find something any other way.
You guys are really out there, completely deluded. The elections of 2000 and 2004 were won by razor thin margins, some would say stolen, but certainly no great mandate. Obama won by a much larger majority. With that in mind, I think it’s time for you guys and gals on the”right” to quit whining and give liberal government a chance to succeed.
Too little, way too late, I’m afraid. The loonies are in charge of the asylum.
I submitted a comment just a few minutes ago that differd from the rest of these comments, ie a liberal viewpoint, and it was imedeatly removed. What a bunch of hypocrites.
Uh, Mr. Fraser, would that be the comment two entries above your last?
Sometimes things go into moderation.
What the MSM has done makes sense only if they think the only way to survive is to be Pravadized. They aren’t making enough on ad revenues or subscriptions to stay solvent so they need a government bailout. Obama and a Democrat majority need cheerleaders to stay in power so they’ve donned cute little cheerleader outfits and are waving pom-poms in hopes of getting government assistance under an Obama administration.
It probably won’t be a direct subsidy, but the owners of the papers and news networks running pro-Obama ads 24/7 expect some of that $1.2 Trillion dollars giveaway to ooze their way in some form or fashion.
I don’t think the MSM will turn on Obama no matter how bad things get in this country under his administration. Most likely, the liberal press will find a scapegoat – and surprise, surprise – it will be a conservative or a Republican one.
The MSM, no matter how disappointed they truly were with Clinton’s presidency, never actually turned on him; even to the point of defending the lies they knew he told. This is true, up to and including, his dubious last-minute pardons and the ransacking of the White House furniture. Bill Clinton is still a rock star in their eyes.
The MSM have a new hero in Obama, and they will defend him to the very end.
you know what I love most about this new site, besides the writing, and it’s outspoken conservative tone?.the lefties, that’s right, these people just aren’t happy that we conservatives have places like this to go to.they are pissed, because they can never, and will never have success in these forums.so they come over to ours (conservatives) and try to poison them with their liberal cliche’s and propaganda.spewing out anger and hatred on everyone.HARLEY,TEXACALI, TITOV,and the likes are deaf, dumb, and blind.never wanting to hear the truth, never wanting to learn the truth, never wanting to see the truth.in fact they cannot.they are part of the collective and therefore have no individual thoughts.as conservatives we can’t play with them, can’t make nice with them.their sole purpose is to assimilate or destoy!.they are every bit like the enemies we face in radical Islam.be converted or be killed!.we have to be willing to desroy their ideas as much,if not more than they want to destroy ours.we played nice and look at where our country is today!.it’s kill or be killed,HARLEY and her I’ll will not stop until they control everything and everyone.
alan, why should we stop whining, you never did,for eight years you babies cried and whined about bush be “selected” not “elected” he was never “your president” in eight years you NEVER gave him a chance to “SUCCEED!”.and now wer’e supposed to shut up and give Obama a chance.I don’t think so!.what is this lie about winning by a greater margin, and Obama having a “mandate”. bush won in 2004 with 51% of the vote,Obama won with only 53% of the vote.we don’t need to shut up,you never did,so why don’t you stop whining and get over it.
One can only hope that after a couple years of puckering up on Obama’s butt, a few of the MSM minions will tire and begin to look elsewere for their pleasures. Perhaps a few will wander accidentally into the light and begin to understand that there are other points of view and maybe, just maybe, that Obama doesn’t satisfy the spiritual need. If I can be so bold – perhaps some will actually begin to imagine a world where the truth can be told, honest debate can occur, and possibly even balance is allowed. One hopes.
Wow that is just crazy… Go easy bro…

Jack Bauer, modest point. You’ve got your logical fallacy wrong, tho’ bonus points for using Latin on the BH boards!
In truth, you have the fallacy exactly backwards. It’s not about claiming the exception to the rule disproves the rule. It’s claiming that A occurs before B, therefore A is the cause of B. To keep it relevant, an accurate use of the fallacy would look like this:
- The MSM is biased toward the Dems.
- Barrack Obama is elected President.
- Barrack Obama was elected President because the MSM is biased toward the Dems.
Every educated Soviet was familiar with the expression “there is no news in the truth [Pravda] and no truth in the news [Izvestia].” Thanks to the world’s least effective primary & secondary schools, the American public will never be able to read between the Ministry of Propaganda’s lines. The somewhat redundant Obama-Ayers education reform scheme, for example, learned from one of Lenin’s few mistakes – a dumbed-down public is a controlable entity. 24 years late perhaps, welcome to “1984″!
We sure can’t expect Prelutsky or Goldberg to get busy working on firefighter training for a living, now can we ? Nope, they’re gonna write to ‘work’ for a living.
Chris:
You are misreading me greatly!
El Gordo:
Thanks for looking out for me. You’re the cat’s pajamas.
do I really need to slow down, cool my jets, pump my brakes?.why,I am speaking in liberal tones.everything to them is a crisis!.housing, economy, global warming, healthcare, etc.they scare the living daylights out of the voting population, blame everything on republicans, and promise that they are the only ones who can save us.nothing I said was incorrect, filled with hyperbole, yes, maybe, but not wrong.liberal democrats care only about one thing…POWER!. how to get it,and how to keep it.their policies are based solely on government control of our lives.why, because we are too stupid to know what’s best for ourselves.we don’t,can’t see that we are destroying ourselves and the planet.so it is up to them to save us from ourselves.I don’t buy it,but 63 million do.I don’t need government to supply me with my every need.I can supply for myself.I don’t like being called any derogatory names, because I want to keep big government out of my life.I will apologize only for one TEXACALI,maybe I am “mid-reading” you.but the others,I am square on.
The MSM will NEVER turn against Obama because he shares their sympathy for Marxism and hatred of the White Christian majority. Even if Obama is caught supplying nukes to Al Qaida 3 years from now, I guarantee you Olbermann and Maddow would still be mocking Bush.
Chris:
Apology accepted.
I look forward to Harley’s review of Goldberg’s book.
Do I have to read it to review it?
Seriously. Can we STOP calling the Old Media the MSM. Calling them the “mainstream media” implies that we on the Internet are NOT mainstream. Since more people come to the Internet to get their news than newspapers, now, I’d say that makes US mainstream!!
They are the OLD MEDIA… NOT the MSM!!
“What more evidence of liberal influence than the weeks following the Sarah Palin announcement to run as VP, when a dim-witted, small town, out of her depth wingnut was treated as a legitimate candidate for the job one heartbeat away from the Presidency?”
Yeah, they really treated that most-popular-governor-in-the-country snowbilly as a “legitimate candidate” for the VP, didn’t they. They certainly didn’t spend more time spinning despicable conspiracy theories about her uterine output than they did unraveling Teleprompter Jesus’s web of sleazy criminal connections in the banana republic known as Southside Chicago, did they.
If only Sarah Palin had the firm grasp of history as mildly-retarded Joe “Neil Kinnock is my inspiration” Biden. After all, it takes three decades in the Senate and a Constitutional law professorship to know that Article I of the Constitution covers the duties of the Executive branch. Or to recall that glorious time when the American and French militaries drove Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Or to wax nostalgic about 1929, when FDR’s face was all over the television inspiring us out of the Depression that he would later create with his tyrannical idiocy.
Yeah, we really dodged a bullet by keeping that hick out of high office.

Hey,
that’s rightno,Taxacalirose, don’t ever read anything by anyone with whom you have had disagreements in the past. Especially if that disagreement stems from alaudatory postnegative book about your President['s] toady media. You go, girl. On the other hand,
Tom HanksGeithner has apologized forthe Mormon commentcheating on his taxes. Is yourboycottvigil over?(harley – January 23rd, 2009 at 1:13 pm)

The Geithner thing appalls me. I am self-employed and figured my tax issues in about 5 minutes, using nothing more than http://www.irs.gov.
If this guy claims he could not, should he REALLY be the Sec of the Treasury.
On the flip side, if he is a liar and a tax cheat, should he REALLY be Sec of the Treasury?
If it were me, as President, I would have pulled his nomination in a minute. That action would have integrity.
Politics aside, this incident is just plain insulting to taxpayers.
And miracle of miracles, Sen. Susan Collins voted AGAINST Geithner’s confirmation! I have hope.
Sorry, Texacalirose, but one hundred monkeys at one hundred typewriters isn’t getting the job done. I’d suggest increasing monkey and typewriter volume to two hundred.
You’re welcome.
Sorry, Harley, but Elmo, Gum, Heather, Holly, Mistletoe, and Rowan proved that the ‘infinite monkey’ theory is flawed … that monkeys are not random generators. They’re more complex than that.
They did prove how you get “the job” done, however. The lead male monkey (maybe Elmo?) got a stone and started bashing the keyboard. Also, the monkeys were also interested in defecating and urinating all over the keyboard.
I’d suggest changing keyboards. Don’t bother thanking me.
See? I told ya. That extra hundred got you a long way toward coherence. And better still? A sense of humor.
Sorry, Harley. I didn’t get all the data that dispel the “monkey/typewriter” theory from that sitcom idea you’re peddling around; they are from Plymouth University (England) research. Comprende?
Question: Is it just the slobbering that has your keys stuck on the same shtick?
I can’t argue with that, Texacalirose. You definitely know your monkeys. And apparently a single word of Spanish.
I see Harley’s keys are schtill schtuck on his monkey meme … que no?
The results were far from what evolutionists had hoped to see, per Brad Harrub, Ph.D.
mr.blifil…how did I miss your collossal ignorance!.first, mcain was 100% completely EXONERATED in the keating five scandal.which was an created scandal by the MSM.very much like the MSM created the scandal with bush firing the 8 judges.your so stupid, you probably believe there is merit to it.but just you know,it’s a presidents prerogative to fire these guys.he doesn’t need a reason to do so.also Clinton fired all previous judges from the bush 41 years when he took office.I’ll bet you weren’t bitching then.
second, gov. palin has more executive experience in her little pinky, than the idiot in office right now.your problem is,you cannot defend your policies or ideas.because they have no defense.your policies and ideas are worthlessthey have failed every single time they have been tried.so all you have left is to name call.you act like little. hildren on the playground, sticking your tongue out with your thumbs in your ear and wiggling your fingers.well…you’re stupid, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, naaah!.idiot, grow up!.
I think I will take a walk,yes, just me and my dog…mr.blifil.
an unruly mutt,he is.
