You can write off up to $250k this year using section 179 deduction. Up to that amount you can write-off 100%.

The word I was looking for is "depreciate" not amortize. Letting business depreciate business equipment expense in the same year as it's purchase would be a great stimulus,

I am totally against government regulating or capping anyones wages. However, I think government should cap the amount of wages that a company can write off $250K. So, when a studio pays an actor 40 million to star in Forrest Gump #2... they only get to write-off $250K and they eat $39,750,000 dollars. Same with sports figures and CEOs. Once the general public isn't eating these big write offs (we get to make up the difference) I am guessing the salaried worth of these people would greatly diminish. Or make the studios amortize these high wages over many, many years.

After all, when I buy new equipment for my business, I have to amortize over a few years any purchase over a certain dollar amount.

Something else you should know about actors, they all have production companies and it is these production companies that gets paid, not them. This allows them to pay even less taxes and utilize more tax write-offs than you or I would.

"I pledge to no longer support the crappy entertainment industry."

Saving a ton of money by making conscious choices on the type of entertainment I purchase. It's a wonder the entertainment industry can survive. I mean, 80 percent of the music, movies and television out there is not just liberal dribble but horrible liberal dribble that's not entertaining. These so called artist and there crap work actually makes it easy for me to save my money.
