Debunking the Great Debunker: ObamaCare Covers Illegals
by Big XOn Wednesday last week, President Barack Obama participated in a scripted online townhall with a friendly audience of religious voters and pastors in an effort to dispel misinformation regarding HR 3200, the Health-Care Reform Bill.
In a brazen and inept attempt to “relate” (as in “pander”) to his church-going audience, the President accused opponents of “bearing false witness” against his plans. I suppose by that he meant his critics are lying. True, bearing false witness is a specific type of lie, but it’s very difficult to do against an abstract object. Usually, false witness is borne against a person. Like Sarah Palin, for instance…
But, I digress.
During the meeting, Obama debunked “disinformation” alleging that illegal aliens would be eligible for the proposed plan. “That’s not true,” he objected, “There’s a specific provision in the bill that does not provide health insurance for those individuals.”
Let’s take a look at the text, shall we? The provision he cited is located on page 143 and reads as follows:
SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS
Wow. Can’t get much clearer than that! It looks like the Big O is right: Undocumented aliens are excluded from collecting benefits under the plan
But… hey, wait a cotton-pickin’ minute!
On page 50, SEC. 152 explicitly prohibits discrimination under the act with “regard to personal characteristics extraneous to the provision of high quality health care or related services.”
In other words, undocumented aliens are not only eligible for ObamaCare, but their coverage is mandated.
So what’s up, Big O? Quit jacking us around! Are they covered or not?
A further reading of Section 246 reveals that the plan only disallows “Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”
“Affordability credits” are federal subsidies that offset the cost of monthly health plan premiums for low income earners.
So, in short, undocumented aliens are eligible for the plan under Section 152, but ineligible for premium subsidies.
Now, let’s do the math:
- Though illegal aliens will be prohibited from receiving Federal premium subsidies, they are not prohibited from participating in the plan.
- Every benefit dollar received by the participant in excess of premium paid represents a deficit against the plan; and…
- The plan is funded by tax dollars and benefits are paid by the Fed.
Gee… either the President doesn’t understand the eligibility guidelines of the Public Option, or he is deliberately lying.
This is a very misleading aspect of the bill, one likely to be quoted by Democrats and frothing moonbats over the next few months to bolster their charges of us “uninformed evil mongerers” spreading “disinformation.”
So next time some know-it-all Kool-Aid-drinker arrogantly bleats that illegal aliens aren’t covered under ObamaCare, tell them they are incorrect (or “full of shit,” if you prefer). SEC. 246 only forbids the payment of Federal premium subsidies to illegals. It does not deny their eligibility to participate and/or collect reimbursement for medical charges under the plan.
As a matter of fact, under SEC. 152, the plan is explicitly prohibited against denying coverage to illegal aliens.

I get it, if you are a citizen you must pay a bill to the govt, but if you're not a citizen it is free.

Obama has to follow a script to control the information and to keep his lies from slipping. There is no doubt in my mind that the liberals have given as much thought as to what is on the healthcare deform bill as they did to the bailouts. OK, now I'm even more confused than usual. Am I reading this right? If you make "X" dollars a year under Obamacare, you pay a premium for your health care the same as I do now for my private sector coverage. If you don't make "X" dollars a year, the government will pay the premium for you by taking the money out of my back pocket. If you don't make "X" dollars a year but are an illegal alien, you get your health care for free?

This is America, those poloticians including this crooked president is subject to our vote, we voted him in(or maybe I should say they), and we can vote him out, simple as that, unless of course he will use the UN tactics like he's trying to do against Hondurous and deam it "illegal" to do such a thing. It depends on what the meaning of "is" is.
Currently, hospitals and physicians are mandated by Federal law to provide care in an emergency setting to anyone who presents. Enforcement is by criminal, not civil means. What this bill does is to worsen the mandate without doing anything to help compensate providers. Don't forget, illegals can use our civil legal system to sue for "perceived" malpractice as well. Double jeopardy for providers and hospitals, which means exponentially higher costs passed to all taxpayers
It's way past time to scrap this whole piece of double-talk, hidden-agenda two-faced legislation.
I wouldn't even trust a 'revised' version that seemingly does away with the objectionable provisions in Obamacare at this point.
While we are scrapping, let's scrap Peosi, Reid, Obama, and the rest of the herd of dung-masters as well.

In 2005 my dad had a hospital visit of one week in Las Vegas.. While standing in line to facilitate his release and see to any bills I saw a new couple with infant in tow at the cashier's window. They're entire conversation took place in Spanish. While standing there I looked at the wall to the right of the window and there hung a sign stating that everyone had a right to have a translator present to help in their case. Having lived in south Florida for many years, Spanish was a small part of the patois I learned and heard several refences to "free this" and "free that" from the hospital checkout window. Finally, the happy couple, with infant in tow, headed for the exit. During the process of checking out my fahter I asked why it was that illegal aliens could come here, have children and not pay a dime but when my father, a legal immigrant who worked all his life, paid his taxes and was reduced to medicare had to show means of payment(that would be me)to be offered follow up treatment for his illness. The glowering expression from the woman said it all as she became silent and surly. I thanked her and left. When the Health care debate ends the new one will be illeagal aliens. Get ready.

Sorry, jack, I have to disagree with you on the ignorance and stupidity. Obama is neither ignorant nor stupid. He was thoroughly trained in Saul Alinsky's methods of dividing, conquering and taking from those who have, to give to those who have not. He not only learned it, he taught it.
Impeachment would be great but it would probably be a failure. Obama has surrounded himself with political extremists, Chicago hardliners, union officials and czars, and there is probably not one Democrat who would go against him and his cadre of radicals. The best we can do is be vigilant, protest peacefully, and do our best to see that those people – Democrat or Republican — who support what Obama is doing, are voted OUT OF OFFICE!

If the hundreds, nay thousands of decent Americans who are going to their Town Hall meetings to have their say about Obamacare, started chanting "liar liar, pants on fire", every time one of the politicians obfuscated, dodged or tried to speak over the people, they could chant that line.
Imagine how awesome that would be? The MSM would be foaming at the mouth apoplectic! Everytime a news hack tried to put down the ordinary person at the meetings with a ,"why aren't you faithful to The One?", question, he or she, along with others around them, could simply start to sweetly chant.
Could you imagine a thousand people doing that to Nancy Pelosi? Starting quietly, then building to a huge crescendo? I believe her face would quite literally explode.
If every time The One opened his mouth, he were greeted with the Liar Liar chant, his teleprompter would explode. What do you expect from a man who said in a press conference about the porkulas bill "This legislation doesn't have one earmark in it". It doesn't matter whether HR 3200 mentions illegals or not. The whole point of socialized medicine is that the government has total control of the medical apparatus. The government (through legislators and federal judges) will dictate who gets care under what circumstances, when, and how much.
OF COURSE illegals will get care. Do I need to spell it out? They will file a lawsuit (with the help of the ACLU) that denial of care violates their CIVIL RIGHTS. You heard me: denial of care, even to a person not a US citizen, but who is standing on US soil, will be deemed a violation of that person's CIVIL RIGHTS. And if you disagree, that makes you a RACIST and a HATE MONGER.
Abortion on demand (any woman or girl, and time, for any reason) will also be deemed a CIVIL RIGHT. Count on it. I shouldn't even have to point this out.

What few things that are said of him make him one item of interest and his behavior in public and in his stated opinion something else. Behaviors tell a whole lot about a man. I'm still alive because I've learned how to detect RedAlert behaviors over the years. Does the man's behavior match the ink written about him? In this case the answer ids no. I've been unwilling to join one side or the other. based on pure assumed racuism and things. I am a behavorist and a fairly good one. Mr. Obama does not match behavior with what is said about him.If I knew him personally I would keep my back to the wall and know where my exit was waiting. Then I would assume being polite. My own conclusion is that Obama and the \”chirping managerie\” around him, is not the man he porports to be. Knowing this I can be a bit \”chirpy\” and be fairly safe, (I think)

Double talk and hypocrisy prevail in the so-called Democratic Party, and everything is written in legalese. One section says one thing and another section changes what the first one said.

Health care? Insurance? This is about hospitals, charities, and grants of money. Like everyone points out, HOSPITALS HAVE TO CARE FOR ANYONE, regardless of a means to pay. But where does that come from? Is there some big hospital blanket insurance policy? No, it is paid with a little tax money, but it comes from charities and fundraisers and the medical bills paid for by the rest of us. Sure, that may be your insurance company or maybe it's your Medicaire or your pocket.
What this bill tries to do is yank things out of the local and personal level (your hometown hospital which can cover the poorest of poor) and stick it to the people. Now, no more of this… Every clinic and specialist will be able to bill the GUBMENT for anything, no charity, no church funds, just the LIBERAL EQUIVALENT OF CHURCH, headed by the BIG 0, his HIGHNESS, the king of all who have a bleeding heart, and the VICEROY of all who don't pay taxes but vote in a BLOC for things that fill their BELLY.

Maybe in your state, you folks can consider the process of nullification. Nullification is where a state can basically tell the feds to pound sand. It was done in 1832 by South Carolina creating an interesting Consitutional standoff between the State and President Andrew Jackson. It was finally resolved but an effective technique. Many people come to America to experience something better than what's available in their own country. The smart ones and their children realize that if freeloaders are allowed in, then eventually they drag down the community/town/state/country and it'll slowly evolve into what they left behind.
But if there are HuffPo/DailyKos monitors out there reading this take note. You and your children will be marginallized as well. What goes around comes around.

Oh, you haven't confused me — I agree with you 100%. A person like Obama doesn't continually associate himself with radical extremists for years and not turn out to be one. Look at those people around him. Like the Clintons, I tend to listen to what they say and then compare that to what they do, as evidenced by the proclamation of the "Politics of personal destruction" — the Clintons were the ones spreading the "personal destruction.” It's something like listening to a kleptomaniac say, "I just went to the store to pick something up."

Actually, no. It's not free for illegals. The legislation forbids Federal payment of premium subsidies to illegals. In other words, they pay the full premium. Which sounds fine until you factor in the dynamic of "adverse selection."
In other words, say Uncle Zvetco is paying $4,000 a month out of his pocket for prescription drugs, and say the premium for ObamaCare is $200 a month, then Uncle Zvetco is going to sign up for ObamaCare. Cousin Helga, though, is only 22 and healthy as a horse, so she'll skip ObamaCare and spend her $200 a month on manicures, cigarettes and cable TV. That is, until her ass-hat boyfriend, Vlad, knocks her up. Then she'll sign up for ObamaCare to pay for the $15,000 delivery.
This is why pre-existing conditions ar not covered by insurance companies–not to be "meanies," but to protect the interests of their policyholders (the fund) from fraud and abuse. However, to the modern liberal Democrat, protecting honest taxpayers takes a very distant back seat to protecting all those poor uninsured "victims" out there.

One thing I've not seen mentioned here is that the SAVE program (Systemic Alien Verification for Entitlements) was purposely left out as a means of making sure that illegal aliens would not be able to get health care under this bill. So yes, illegals are prohibited from receiving payments but the Democrats made sure that the screening process was not included even though SAVE is used in many similar govt programs. The GOP tried to pass an amendment to add the use of SAVE to the program (Heller amendment), but the Democrats voted it out. (http://tinyurl.com/n8×37g)
There was no good reason to not include this amendment if the Dems truly did not want illegals in the program.

This HOCUS-POTUS doesn't even bother with church. He uses the lame excuse that he doesn't want security details to disturb the church-goers in D.C., but he feels perfectly at ease showing up anywhere else he pleases! The plain fact is that he just doesn't bother with church. Church is just a means to get people to buy his schtick. Obama is the LAST person that should be talking about others "bearing false witness". And the nerve of him talking about "being our brother's keeper'"! Say, Barry, how's half-brother George doing in his hut with his $5/year salary?!?!
His "church" is in Chicago, it's a hate filled den of reptiles but he was only there for the *good parts* and to advance his political ambitions…his new ~church~ is apparently some gym in the D.C. area.
Economic refugees are not allowed free entree` to the U.S. LEGAL immigrants ARE alowed in even as economic refugees. Mexico is a mostly beautiful country with a host of economic upsides…but greed and fear and age old caste-like divisions conspire to make it the political cesspool it is today. Newsflash: Pedro the "immigrant" could give a rat's ass about the U.S. of A., he's type A: 'How much $$$$$ can I make/steal, and when can I go home to Mexico…' type B: is how can I exploit this and how long can I stay….that California's problem…
No, what's even worse is the pastors, knowing that they're being lied to, and not calling him on it, but rather letting it pass because their politics trumps their calling.
As somebody who has spent a lot of time in Las Vegas hospitals doing the same thing at the window as the couple you refer to, if fear you may very well have misunderstood the conversation.
When checking out of the hospital and taking a newborn home, the hospital informs EVERY new parent of the availability of FREE well baby checkups, FREE parenting classes, gives coupons for FREE diapers, etc, etc. EVERY new parent, whether the parent has just popped forth an anchor baby, or a WASP blueblood member of DAR who paid with cash from her trustfund, gets the spiel. And if you're blessed to have twins, you get the spiel twice (and twice as many coupons, wohooo!).
I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with illegals taking advantage of our generosity, because there is a huge problem. Simply that how you've spun this incident as representing special treatment of (probable) illegals isn't correct.
