Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

That smug grin, seems to sum it up for me.
Smug like a Fox.
The last man standing (and most profitable) in the media battles.
I'd be more apt to celebrate him if he wasn't so reliant on money from the Saudi royal family. That relationship, if not remedied soon, may be the cause of his empire's undoing. You can already see some of the influence on FNC (Glenn Beck calling Geert Wilders a fascist, Bill O'Reilly telling members of CAIR they're "stand-up guy[s]"). It's a dangerous position to take when your competition is already in the tank aiding and abetting those sources of blood money.
I am so greatful for FOXNEWS! But alas I thinks Murdoch is mo' about the money than the ideology. Hope i'm wrong.
Rupert when you go, please don't leave any of your progeny in charge….If you do, it will have been all for naught…
I kind of think Geert Wilders is being fascist-like myself. His heart is in the right place, but some of his language is highly skeptical. I came to that conclusion without Saudi Money.
I'm grateful for the Fox News Channel, but I'm not thrilled about his close association with Saudi Royals.
No one really cares about this fat-cat or his birthday.
Speaking of FOX – "24" on Monday was pretty bad. What a heartbreaker the last two seasons have become.
Happy Birthday Mr Murdoch and thank you for FOX News!
Good Job!
Thanks, Rupert, for bringing us a whole new era of yellow journalism.
I believe you've got him confused Jeffery Immelt.
Yes, thank you Mr. Murdoch very much.
A lot of people don't know this, but I'm the one who told him to create FOX television and FNC. True story, as far as you know.

I just rented the first eight episodes of Kojak. The dialog is always fun.
Loan shark: Hello Kojak
Kojak: You’ll pardon me for not rising?
Loan shark: What’s not to pardon? I figure one of your men is getting someone’s gravy and you wanted to know who was on the give. Am I right?
Kojak: For how much?
Loan shark: For you Kojak, it’s on the house.
Kojak: Santa Clause, himself
Loan shark: That is if I find out anything.
Kojak: He’s a real philanthropist.
Loan shark: Anyway, I don’t waste cops.
Kojak: Not even if they’re into you for heavy dough? Wrong. Come on. You’d bust your mother’s arm in three places if she lost her subway token.
2 of 2
Loan shark: Your jokes are getting stale, Kojak. You need a fall guy. Don’t go poking in my garbage. I’m alibied.
Kojak: I know. You were out there dedicating an orphanage. Right?
Loan shark: Hey, I’m a businessman. You think I’d lend 10 Gs to a cop on inspector’s pay?
Kojak: How’d you know it was ten thousand. Come here fatso. You want two patrol cars sitting outside your fancy house on Long Island for the next six months? What would the neighbors think? So you tell me. How’s you know it was ten thousand?
Loan shark: You think you’re the only heat I talk to? It’s all over the department. All of them are getting itchy. They want to find out how to apply for Donnelly’s job.
Kojak: Who wouldn’t? Look fatso, Take a good look. You just bought yourself a lifetime supply of insomnia. Now you get your fat carcass out of here before I book you for violating the ecology.
Rupert's children are left-wing lefties so let's hope he lives another 20 years.
His buddying up to Mid East oil sheiks is troubling, however.
steps to get your ex back…
Totally agree with everything you said…
Happy Birthday Rupert. You are a genious!
Maybe if the US drilled for oil, Murdoch could buddy up to OUR oil money instead of the Saudi's?
By the way, why don't we drill for our own oil again?
Happy Birthday Rubert. You alone among all media bosses seems to know what makes media work withthe public. You are every bit the inheritor of Wm Randolph Hearst.
I just wish Fox News was available on Fox…
When Palin gets in office, its gonna be drill baby drill! She will take no prisoners as she did in Alaska!
Has anyone ever wondered why all the minerals are off limits and owned by the Federal lands in the western states?
You mean against the model of Katie "let's watch a Colonoscopy" Couric?
I guess I am just ahead of the wave. After last season I wrote it off. Like NBC's Heroes.
HAPPY BIRFDAY!!!!
We would not have fair and balanced if it was not for this man….thank god, becuase I was throwing up over the slanted media coverage of ANY situation…. thanks Mr. Murdoch
I don't believe I have. Without Fox News blazing the trail for partisan news organizations, there would be no MSNBC.
You're not wrong, but on the other hand that's great news. People who get rich supplying a demand does no harm to any of us.
Its the ones that can't do it and so seek to use the government's implied threat of force to have their way you need to be wary of.
This just breaking from Gateway Pundit….

Agreed, it's much better than the red journalism we've been force fed for the last 50 years.
Cool, got any tips for me?
Because it makes the Native American in the commercial cry.
Why didn't you guys do Chuck Norris' birthday yesterday??
A Wonderful Birthday Mr Murdoch..
My Mothers is on the first, my daughter Nicole and I share the 15th and my Grandmother's was the 17th..
As we have so much to bond about.. Can I please have Brian's of the Fox & Friends job..pretty please.
Best regards,
Patricia
Actually, his son who is on deck to take over the "family business" is actually a libertarian, so I think we're in good hands! Not to mention, he may have been instrumental in bringing Beck and Stossel (libertarians) to Fox.
Aside from our retired and active duty servicemen and women and Kurt Schlicter is there a more awesome American than Adam Baldwin?
I love the fact that Rupert Murdoch makes liberals spazz off, but Roger Ailes is the true genius behind Fox News. When he dies, it's gone.
Murdoch is a New York leftist, cocktail party liberal, who gives money to Dems all over the place.
By the way, Fox News is now partly owned by a Saudi Prince. Charles Krauthammer (smart on most topics) and Bill Kristol are little Islamo-panderers. Glenn Beck, while doing a great job conveying the importance of our Constitution, is a populist snot along with being a dhimmi.
Fox News is still light years ahead of its competitors, but people like Andrew Breitbart are the real truth soldiers.
The answer: No. Baldwin is an intelligent, concise conservative, who should be the editor in chief at this web site if he didn't have a healthy career as an actor.
I definitely get your concern, Drifter. However, I'm sure these kids know on what side their bread is buttered. Profit motive, though roundly demonized by the left, will reign supreme nonetheless. I'm pre-supposing based on other comments that Rupert's heirs don't necessarily hold a conservative line.
Happy B-Day and thanks for Fox News. NUFF SAID!!!!
I wonder where the country would be today if it were not for FoxNews and the recently purchased Wall Street Journal offering and or presenting to us a fair and balance look at the worlds events. Happy Birthday and thank you RUPERT and keep doing it RIGHT.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Murdoch.
Normally, the birthday boy gets to make the wishes, but I figure you have everything you need. So here are my wishes:
1) Create a nightly "network" news program to air opposite ABC/CBS/NBC @ 18:30 Eastern. Don't do anything "crazy" with it – just present the news Fair & Balanced ™. Observe as they other 3 nets melt down and become Fountains o' Excuses as to why they just got spanked.
2) Move Red Eye to midnight (would love 11pm, but O'Reilly's second broadcast *still* kicks butt, ratings-wise, can't mess with that). Maybe move Red Eye to "regular" Fox network at 11pm. That show is awesome and will draw an audience away from the other network programs!
3) Give E.D. Hill a job, already. One "terrorist fist jab" (whatever that is) crack and your career is ruined for life? C'mon, now…
Chuck Norris is going to kick some……
Chuck is immortal. He stopped bothering to celebrate birthdays sometime around when he farted to wipe out the Spanish Armada.
Happy Birthday Mr. Murdoch! The knowledge, joy, entertainment and ammo your vision has brought me in the last 14 years cannot be measured in treasure. Attacked from every angle with every literary and visual weapon conceivable hasn't dented the fort and never will. Knowledge is power and we all owe Newscorp a debt of gratitude. The United States is stronger because of the solid professionals (oh, like, say Brit Hume) he has brought to the battlefield of ideas.
Thank you Mr. Murdoch, so very much.
Thanks, Rupert, for pissing off the right people and persistently being a thorn inside the left.
Not to knock Baldwin, but Captain Sully set the bar pretty fricken' high.
Happy Birthday Rupert. Thank you for Megyn Kelly, PAB, and Dr. K.
Thanks for ruining my appetite for the next two weeks with that pic…
Because drilling for oil is EEEVIL!
Why is it evil? Because shut up, that's why.
Ed
I've heard his eldest daughter, Prudence, is a big prog (regressive).. Hope for the best..
Big C
Even now FNC, seems to be drifting Left…After Brit retired, it started…
I don't think so. As a matter of fact, that could turn out to be a great thing.
Think about it, he's shown the entire world what sells, but far too many people think its him leading the unwashed masses around by the nose. If he retires, and FOX falls into ruins because of liberal bias, it would be a perfect lesson for the rest of the media. That it wasn't Murdoch himself, but giving customers what they want.
It would perfectly demonstrate it's content and bias.
Yay!
"24" is finally ending!
>:)
Awww. Yeah that's right I forgot.
That wasn't drilling.
That was littering with style.
Not to knock your dreams, but Captain Sully isn't libertarian or conservative.
It broke my heart when I heard him say he wanted more government control at the airports. (sigh)
Jayne Cobb isn't the type of man who likes government control. (…then again, he didn't fight in the "war")
Well, it's XTremely obvious you're not an Insider – otherwise you'd know Glenn isn't a populist.
Have you listened to his radio program?
He's been EOTW for, what….two years now? (sigh) That ain't populism, trust me!
Thank you, Mr. Murdoch, for being so savvy as to create Fox News for the population that avoided drinking the Kool-Aid.
And even more kudos because your company just irritates the crap out of your competitors!
For that, I love you even more!
Happy birthday!
Saving a plane full of people transcends any and all political affiliation, IMHO…he could be a one-legged albino vegan pinko no-nukes hippie Whig for all I care. When the chips came down, he defined heroism. Pretending to be a hero on tv or scribbling on a blog doesn't come anywhere near close, no matter how infinitely yummier Baldwin may look doing it. ;-D
Happy Birthday Mr. Murdoch! Thank you for Britt Hume, Chris Wallace, Brett Baier, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly and thank you for letting Beck be Beck. Thank you for supporting great people like Vince Flynn and Brad Thor by having your people give them the air time they wouldn't get on other networks. Thank you for FOX News.
mmmmmm Adam Baldwin hottie.
If by EOTW, you mean "end of the world", then Beck is exactly a populist. Using that type of demagoguery is a staple of populism.
His constant need to draw equivalences between Democrats and Republicans is the strongest evidence he's trying to appeal to a populist movement. There are bad Republicans, but there are NO good Democrats. By creating a sense that both of them are exactly the same, Beck can rile up anyone, and that's what he does.
Beck is a phony, who will betray the Conservative movement the second he gets a chance.
Good question! Chuck is a good guy. Let me tell you – he doesn't look his age!
Happy Birthday. Thank you for all you do to bring the truth, fair and balanced. Love Palin as a Fox contributor, too.
HEROES was silly and easy to write off.
"24" was skilled writing and television and it is a shame to see what happened to it.
Why would you cheer at that?
If you get one tear for litter, imagine what you'd get for an oil rig.
Being an Australian I can attest to the amount of Media moguls we seem to breed in this country. Maybe it's the pioneer spirit or possibly the basic harsh upbringing that was customary in the 30's to 40's but Rupert Murdoch who inherited his fathers solitary newspaper turned that business around to having papers in all states of the country. He then expanded into the UK buying a major paper there and shifting it from Fleet Street to a new facility on the wharf area. He then ran into a protracted fight with the Unions including Journalists who rebelled against using new technology fearing it would cut employment drastically. They were correct which was the reason the papers were losing money.
Murdoch fought the unions and won, installed his new equipment and ended up with a very profitable newspaper enterprise. In 1985 he purchased 50% of 20th Century Fox, the half held by Marc Rich (remember him?) before he skipped the country owing 100 Grand in taxes. 6 Months later he purchased the other 50% in the name of his company News Corporation.
The Biography channel has quite a good documentary on the Murdoch clan. Worth a look if you can track it own.
I'm going with convulsive weeping.
Conspiracy theory of the day–take it for what it's worth.
The US is giving away our oil to help pay for our debt.
And I wish we knew that the network wasn't going to go to heck in a handbasket later. I think foreign interests already own a stake, and I've read that some of his kids are outspoken liberals.
I agree E.D. Hill is charming and cute..
She can have Brians Job!!
Hey Rupert, Happy Birthday! Can explain to us little people why your company avoids any real investigation of Obama's background like the plague?
Kilmeade reminds me of that one co-worker…whose every attempt to join in the conversation produces a wince-inducing uncomfortableness, effectively killing said conversation.
