Wow she's awesome. I have to push back against the over-population/anti-development culture with my kids EVERY day. Cartoons and curriculum are full of it (pun intended).
Husband works for an energy company and at least I feel better armed than most but this woman has it right. You have to stomp on it every time you see it.
I love this woman! Thank you CPAC for having her speak. We do need to speak up against the folks who have let indoctrination seep into their idjut skulls and percolate into black nasty goo…question their stands, make them consider where this extremist environmentalism is going. Will they be happy living in a grass hut, during -11 degree weather? Gathering berries, roots and grass clippings? That is what most greenies want…to see man's population be diminished. I was fortunate enough to be in an area that did not rely on political views to be accurate or correct. However, I would like to know exactly where between a BBA and an MBA that the light goes off that executives only look at bottom lines versus the whole role of their business within a community. I am all for maximum profit by employing people in the community/state/country I live in instead of shipping it someplace else. That is how, in my opinion, you get brand loyalty for a new widget and make a GOOD name for yourself and your company.

As for Johh, 1) You don't need ideas to solve non-existent problems, and, as for movies, 2) The Hollywood purse strings are in the hands of Liberals, therefore conservatives' movie ideas rarely see the light of day, so cannot compete on a playing field from which they are excluded.

Terminator and The Abyss were probably the only movie ideas he didn't rip off from someone else. They are also the only ones he did that I like. I also find it odd you laugh your a$$ off at the thought of hate. Seek help my friend, you clearly need it.

Why can't we find this fighting spirit in conservative politicians?
This McElhinney gal is the real deal. She's a Conservative Xena a real firebrand, damn fine speech. Very refreshing and true too. When the ca-ca hits the fan….I'm with Her.
You sound like you need a hug and a tutor to help you out on your typing skills. The bar at the bottom of your keyboard is the "space bar". The punctuation at the end of a sentence gets two spaces. Commas get one and "shouldn't" ends with an apostrophe and a "t".
The first lesson is on me!
What about everything else that she said? How do you feel about teacher's deriding student's who are curious to know more about differing opinions? What are your thoughts on the traumatic impact that a child feels when they "learn" that their very birth is helping to destroy our planet? Or, how about a child being told that the power plant his father works at is evil…now remember, without power James Cameron wouldn't be able to showcase his ripped off plot and magnificent special effects.

Have you ever traveled out of your city? Have you ever traveled around the world's desolate roads and visited tiny villages far away from cities (meaning not simply traveled from city to city by plane)? Have you ever taken a road trip across the US? There are huge swaths of open land all over North America, all over the world.
City dwellers, who live crammed together, can get so easily fixated on all that's wrong with humans and how we're the bane of the planet: they read about the environment in theory rather than live in the reality of it.
I live in a city , too. But I've lived all over the world, lived in and stayed small towns (one population of 90), traveled our country. There are plenty of places where people aren't spending their days standing in long lines.

Yes, Avatar is just a movie that hides hate for the American Military behind a facade of splashy effects. Hollywood bets on the fact that people are simple and won't notice that their being indoctrinated. I'm not simple and I'm proud of my Country and happily serve in the US Military.
By the way, that wasn't the main point of her speech. James Cameron was the side note. The larger picture is that extreme environmentalism is being slipped into the classrooms of our public schools. They can show An Inconvenient Truth but you need parental permission to show the differing opinion, Not Evil, Just Wrong. Furthermore, Al Gore's movie has been discredited. It was based upon fraudulent scientific data. They are not "Just teaching people to save the planet". They are indoctrinating children to buy into their brand of activism.

My statement referring to James Cameron's swimming pool was in direct response to an interview he gave where he was asked how he felt about his film being considered a great recruiting tool for Ecoterrorism. He said he that he liked that description of his movie and he was for ecoterrorism- yet, he lives in a sprawling mansion. He's a hypocrite.

I'm not disputing that there are plenty of wide open spaces. I love those places, as a matter of fact. But there are less and less of them every year. "Urban Sprawl" is REAL. Think of every nice, open, non-crammed place you know. NOW think of it paved-over into a cul-de-sac, a planned community, a housing project, whatever lodging for the ever-expanding blob of humanity you wish – cause if we keep going at this pace, that's what it's gonna be sooner or later.
McElhinney "loves" Alaska – I can see why, it's gorgeous. But the irony is, if we were to follow her prescriptions for managing resources – i.e. DON'T manage them at all, there's no such thing as too many people, etc – it won't be gorgeous anymore… it'll be DETROIT.
