Name this movie: An ace CIA operative, condemned as a rogue and now hunted by the Company, bashes and crashes his way through colorful foreign settings, pursued by heavily armed hit men, while back at Langley headquarters an inscrutable deputy director and one of his top lieutenants are arousing the...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETTY HUTTON!
http://jazzagemusic.blogspot.com/2010/02/february...
Major 40s film star over at Paramount. Tons of energy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz7dZ9Q3K-E
Also today – Jazz tenor saxist Flip Phillips! From the JATP concerts amongst others. Good player!
I think R. Ebert is racist against Native Americans (teepees?? really??) and congrats Canadians hockey ladies… smoke 'em if you got 'em!!
While visting conservative talk show host Melanie Morgan's web site (http://www.melaniemorgan.com/), I discovered a letter from Lee Rogers regarding his firing. in the Bay Area, he conducted the best interviews of all talk show hosts. He is definitely a loss to those of us who still remember basic American values.
The local stations, including KSFO, the one he broadcast from, were making money, but Citadel the owner is bankrupt.
None of that shouldn't mean much to most who read Big Hollywood. Stars and personalities come and go in media, but this paragraph from his letter is important:
"I WILL tell you, in all candor, that thanks to Mr. Suleiman's Citadel management, I could no longer proudly say that the company had never told me what to say or what not to say. There was an obvious cave-in to some ultra-left and pro-Muslim groups, making it unlikely that I would have ever renewed my contract with the company, anyway."
I listen to a lot of talk radio and often hear remarks by talk radio hosts that their political views are censored.
The Dukes looks like fun Saturday afternoon diversion.
Hey, why isn't there a Happy Birthday Open Thread for Johnny Cash?
There was one for that idiot Muhammad Ali … just sayin'…
I miss Johnny, and it is seldom I shed a tear for most anyone, but i did and do for him
This is now Officially the Johnny "Man in Black" Cash Happy Birthday Open Thread…
…well, Semi-Officially…
American VI: Ain't No Grave, in constant play all week. RIP, Johnny and thanks for all the continued tunes!

I could enjoy The Dukes. Like Davi's work
Question is, can he juggle? Just asking…
I didn't understand his love for crime-making, convicted prison inmates. Rape my Mom and win a concert?
Shoot……
I'll go to the movie just because of the awesome actors in it !!!!
YAY! One more Obama era low life on the way out.
NY Gov. David Paterson pulls plug on election bid, but will not resign: insider

WHEN can i see this film it looks GREAT
Happy Birthday Johnny Cash!!
This looks like great fun. Did it make it to theaters? The trailer made me laugh. I totally missed.
I'd like to request a review of Caprica, a prequel to Battlestar Galactica on the SyFy channel (yes, that's how they spell it, I don't know why). I caught a little bit on Hulu; from what I can see so far, they have the Mafia character being gay, group marriages being normal, and of course the only terrorists around are mono-theists (everyone else is a happy-to-get-along polytheist).
First album I ever bought with my own money was JOHNNY CASH AT SAN QUENTIN. I was eight years old. A friend of mine and I used to recite "A Boy Named Sue" while waiting for the school bus.
"…kickin' an' a-stompin' in the mud 'n the blood 'n the beer…"
Shakespeare, brother, couldn't do better…
I believe he felt a kinship with life's "losers" kinda like we all do with family members whom we love despite obvious and glaring failings…
…and I wouldn't characterize him as a "rapist condoner" – that's a malicious exaggeration.
The list of unhinged lefty loonies—- Ed Schultz, Keef Olbermann , Chris Matthews, Rosie O'donnell, Janenne Garofalo, Bill Maher, Stefanie Miller, Ronnie Duetsh, Joan Walsh, David Schuster,Paul Begala,Alec Baldwin. These are many of the mentally unstable left that are near a breakdown! CAN YOU THINK OF SOME MORE?
There are plenty of 'losers' in life and people in need of comfort that have not raped and murdered people and gone to jail.
If your father was murdered how would you feel to see his killer's face brighten up and his foot start tapping to some tune that Johnny Cash came to his prison to sing to him?
I've had this movie in my Netflix queue for a long time. I'm glad it's finally being released. Looks like fun.

This was written by a fellow who posts here on occasion (in the comments section; he's not a blogger for BH).
After watching the first episode of Caprica, my problem was Eric Stoltz's insistence in resurrecting his annoyingly bratty daughter as Robocop. Let her go, man.
If your brother were in jail for a heinous crime, you would want him to suffer and suffer and suffer some more…?
Sometimes the experience of jail is "humanizing" for those who use the time for contemplation of their "sins" and yes, there is redemption and/or rehabilitation possible…
…otherwise, it should be 'hang 'em all, dammit, hang 'em all".
SHAMLESS PLUG ALERT!!!!!
Episode One of "Hank Danger and the Space Mummy's Tomb" has been released for free online viewing!

Parental Advisory: This retro-adventure serial is loaded with dangerous amounts of Cheeze. Consider yourselves forwarned.. mwahahahaahahaa
Agreed. I look forward to it on cable.
Since The Dukes is about a group of fading pop stars, allow me to share Hal White's some thoughts about Frank Sinatra's "My Way."
We hear a lot about heavy metal being blamed for criminal activity. Who knew that the Philippines are plagued by "'My Way' Killings:"
I recently read a fascinating news article which discussed what’s called the “My Way” killings in the Philippines. The article was widely disseminated in the media, and an extended version can be found here .
It appears that singing “My Way” in karaoke bars in the Philippines has spawned at least six unrelated fatal fights. In fact, the authorities now have a subcategory of crime dubbed “My Way Killings” to reflect these murders.
There are many suggested explanations for this phenomenon, but perhaps the chief theory is that “the song’s ‘triumphalist’ nature might contribute to the violence.” Or, as the owner of a Manila-based singing school put it:
“‘I did it my way’—it’s so arrogant. The lyrics evoke feelings of pride and arrogance in the singer, as if you’re somebody when you’re really nobody.… That’s why it leads to fights.”
Whatever the cause or causes of the violent reactions to the performances, many Filipino karaoke bars now omit this song from their playbooks.

That's Liberal talk. "Humanizing"? Most people say prison is de-humanizing.
If my brother were in jail for a heinous crime like killing school kids or murdering a family, yeah, I would want him to suffer. I'd remember the brother I used to know and mourn him, but that would not be the brother I know today – the serial killer and family murderer or child rapist. Hell with him.
And you didn't answer my question about if your father were murdered. I hope you are not going to answer questions with questions.
Actually, I think your position of Johnny Cash making killers lives a bit jollier is indefensible and that the main reason you and others may be taking this stance is b/c you like Johnny Cash.
What Cash did was a compassionate thing to do, but it was compassion possibly given to the wrong people.
You use the Liberal debating tactic of tarring all inmates with a broad brush, and setting up strawman arguments – you have no idea what the inmates Cash sang to were "in" for…but, you take the worst-case scenario to make your argument…
…are you so "without sin" that you are comfortable "casting the first stone" ?…
…Conservatives are believers in the ability of man to improve himself – " We the People, of the United States, in order to secure a more perfect union…"
It's about time, been waiting for quite a while.
Oh, come on. Stop the mottos and platitudes.
You didn't answer the question I wanted you to answer. And why not? Because you are a Cash lover?
If you don't want to answer the question, then convo over. And when the time comes for stating one position on something, I won't be voting for you.
KILLER WHALE RETURNS TO SHOW BIZ!
So they are putting that whale who killed that woman this week back in the show. (Sentence structure)
How do they think that is going to go over with the humans in the audience? No one wants to see that whale now. People will boo and hiss. I mean, you have a better chance with the whale than a Toyota, but not by much with this beast.
Tacky Sea World. Maybe they can get Johnny Cash to do a concert for the whales in captivity. This whale has killed, what, 3 people? That's hard time in the human world. (Think I'm hearin' a twang twang twang comin' closer.)
FamousDrScanlon-
I'll try and remember in the future that you just like to play games and that you avoid answering legitimate questions when they are put to you.
Just another masquerader.
Now you sound like a troll desperate to find a way out of the dark cave their ramblings have led them into…
…Research Cash's San Quentin concert and then you can talk credibly…
…until then you sound ignorant – "Do you want your Daddy's murderer dancing?"…
That's not a legitimate debate question – it's rhetorical b*llshit.
I cannot wait to buy the DVD….Robert besides being one of the good guys has a fantastic voice….kudos Robert for making such an awesome movie!!
Yes, when the debate goes against you, complain about "mottos and platitudes"…
…like Obama yesterday trying to shut down Republicans by crying "No talking points!"
I am SOO there! This movie looks like it has everyone, and I love the premise! Davi should have all the success in the world for this project; the man deserves super duper stardom.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the Cash concert, he's been dead for almost 7 years now. I agree that they should make up a biiig pile of b&w sushi for us all to savor, though.
I'm a Robert Davi fan so I'll see his movie. The rest of the cast looks good , too, with Peter Bogdonovich and Chazz Palmenteri. It looks like the cast has grown-ups in it. What a concept
Call me closed minded if you like but those guys lost me when they did the whole humans-as-insurgents and Cylons-as-Americans-in-Iraq thing. Just couldn't watch. Don't know how many saw it but Jonah Goldberg did a great article about how they basically just threw away much of the series to make some political points. Its worth a read.
