Down Syndrome Humor: ‘Family Guy’ Makes Fun of Sarah & Trig Palin

It was actually a very funny episode. They -somewhat- mocked Sarah Palin, but not really; Chris has a crush on a girl with Downs Syndrome, and when he asks about her parents, she says her mother is a former governor of Alaska. That's it.

There's nothing wrong with this episode. Yes, they did an episode with a Downs Syndrome character. Yes, they made fun of some stereotypes about people with Downs Syndrome (like when Stewie was being hugged by the girl, and he said "I'm guessing this one had a bunny, but doesn't anymore…"). What's wrong with that? They make fun of stereotypes about all races, ethnicities, groups, etc. — and this wasn't in bad taste. In fact, the 'Downs Syndrome' portion of the episode effectively ends with us finding out that the Downs Syndrome girl is a bitch — but for all the reasons that a non-disabled person is a bitch. In fact, Chris says at the end that "she's just like everyone else," meant in a bad way.

Sorry, it's understandable that people get up in arms that Palin's name is mentioned because she's so often slandered, but this episode of Family Guy isn't any worse than anything else they've ever done.

Seth MacFarlane tries way too hard with his clumsy attempts to anger conservatives. Family Guy was funny way back in 1999-2000 or up until the time MacFarlane started getting political. He's a very rabidly insane leftist (or as they say in Hollywood a "progressive")

I don't see how making fun of people with down syndrome if actually funny. I also don't see how using retard or retarded is okay when you mean something is screwed up or stupid. People should try to choose their words better. I don't care if it's a conservative or liberal, it's just plain rude.

Now, personally, I think the writers at Family Guy can spew whatever crap they like – it is their right as Americans and they are entitled to their opinion. But, we can also choose to not watch it and post it on Big Hollywood to remind everyone what juvenile idiots these people are.

While it is vile what Seth M. did, what does this say about Fox Entertainment division. I know its seperate from FOX NEWS, but this is the same group which banned the airring of a F.G. Abortion episode, but will be on the box dvd set. I stopped watching when it became okay to constantly bash Jesus. Heaven forbid if Seth would constantly bash a Muslum religious figure, Buddist, any Middle east religious figure. He went from good, not great, satire to pure slop. Say lets cancel The Simpsons and replace it with another spinoff "Quagmire" or "Stewie – the confused baby".

help of some kind for his entire life. Yes, I know about Downs Syndrome, and wonder if you really do.
Yes, they require "TONS" of special care and medical attention as infants, and toddlers. They tend to live short lives, are plagued with respiratory infections, and do not posess the normal brain function to exist outside of your home, or a group home, for the most part. (ok, there are exceptions, as always)

Honestly Futurama is a better series in everyway but FOX in its endless display of idiocy canned it, as they did with FG at one point.. only they brought the garbage back and left Futurama out in the cold.

It may have only lasted for about five minutes, which was four minutes longer than it would have done if Palin could find anything to talk about other than her family, but you're right. It was completely out of order, and made me long for the sober and respectful way the right treated Chelsea Clinton.

Family guy has made fun of everything and everyone including some much more sensitive targets than Sarah Palin (blacks, Jews, homosexuals). It would be suspicious if they didn't make fun of her.
