Colbert the Palace Guard: ‘Sarah Palin Is a F–King Retard’

Colbert trashes the Tea Party movement and then moves on to call Sarah Palin a “retard” — one of those moments that makes you wonder just when and how our Comedian Class became the very elites they used to deconstruct.
As Bill O’Reilly said last night, you don’t have to agree with the Tea Party movement’s agenda in order to respect the fact that it’s a real grassroots movement populated by everyday citizens eager to get involved and have their voices heard.
To ridicule this movement is to ridicule the guy who fixes your car and the woman who teaches your children, and yet the Comedian Class (and their unholy brethren in the media) is just too comfortable playing Palace Guard for Obama — and much more comfortable in their default position of brutally savaging a self-made Governor and mother of 5 in front of the whole world.
Will Rogers would be proud.

Please remove first post – too angry to type and think.
Anybody remember when Colbert at least pretended to be the conservative ying to John Stewart's liberal yang?
That means that comedy central now has not one but TWO bulldog liberal shows dedicated to nothing but heaping scorn upon the republican party in all its flavors.
Gee, I can see why everyone's so concerned about Fox News. I mean, there's still ONE of those pesky conservative shows left!
there are worse strategic positions than being constantly and continuously underestimated by your adversaries…
Can someone please define humor? Listening to the so-called comedians; does anyone find humor in what they say? Mean spirited, venal and above all humorless. Name calling is the lowest form; "I know you are, but what am I?" type stuff.
LIberals are by and large bereft of self reflection and project their all encompassing mind set upon others. If their target doesn't measure up; OFF WITH THEIR HEAD!!! Letterman, O'Brien, Stewart and his pet Colbert cannot and will not ever hold a candle to Carson and Hope. Both of the latter skewered with a needle, the former bludgeon with a club. And the liberal press cries Hussah! How clever of them!
Lame is still lame, no matter what NY Times humorless staff rube declares his/her approbation.
To Joe Doakes: You are a total hypocrite. So I guess YOU can say the "R" word all you want, but no one else can. That is precisely Colbert's point: the word is offensive and insensitive, and no one should say it. No one defended Rahm Emmanuel for saying it, and he apologized for it because it was wrong. When Sarah Palin demanded Emmanuel's resignation, but then proceeded to defend Limbaugh (because he she claimed he used the word as "satire"), she created a ridiculous double standard, one that Colbert jumped on to point out the hypocrisy.
These leftwing retrogrades only respect movements where the participants are hairy legged females with birkenstocks or are wearing assless chaps in high heels. Colbert looks like he was a geek in school and now he's getting his revenge on the cool kids. Colbert, Stewart, et al are the embodiment of "Revenge of the Nerds."
great colbert segment
This entire thing is retarded. "r" words "n" words…"b" words "c" words …are just words and only have as much power as you give them.
Rush *did* use it as satire, to bring attention to Rahm Emmanuel's use of it as an insult (do you even bother to listen to his show?). Rush does this on a regular basis. He uses satire to bring attention to things that the mass media refuses to cover. Were it not for Palin and Rush talking about Emmanuel's slur, no one would know about it.
Do you really think that is Colberts' purpose/point? Really? You libs you to call it "Hate speech".
Palin now has no choice but to defend Colbert calling her that because Colbert is more of a satire than Limbaugh. At least Colbert is honest about his program being fake news.
The comedy that you Palin defenders are so blind to lies in the barage of double speak that keeps coming out of her mouth, in one hour of television both Colbert and John Stewert were able to showcase several situations in which Palin made a derisive statement about the opposition and then either committed the same offense herself or excused the same for her side. Palin was not ridiculed for saying that Obama uses teleprompters, she was ridiculed for deriding the teleprompter while using notes on her hand. She wasn't spotlighted for admonishing Rahm's use of the word retard, she was mode comedic fodder because she then excused rush for the same offense and for obviously not knowing what satire is.
The right is entitled to their beliefs, the comedy comes when the words and actions of the right are in direct conflct with those same beliefs. Fox news cant say they are fair and balanced when the video evidence shows they are anything but, the right cant call themselves the party of fiscal responsibility when under a republican president and congress our country incurred the largest deficit increase since the great depression. When these things happen, its just too F*ing funny.
It's unbelievable reading the blowhards on the right defending Limbaugh. HE WAS NOT USING IT AS SATIRE. What an double standard Palin lives by. Colbert is BANG ON for saying what he said. BOOOHOOO…he was mean to Palin. Her best is an idiot and for her to condemn Emmanuel who called an IDEA retarded but is ok with Limbaugh calling PEOPLE retarded….well Colbert is right….Palin is a F&^&#$ R^(#&$..
If you watch the shows you know they heap comedy scorn on both parties and whatever else comes across as ridiculous in our popular culture. Really, it informs us that the right receives more scorn than others. Its not a partisan reason, it is because the right IS ridiculous. If they stop being so, the scorn will necessarily become more equitable.
I'm not sorry to burst your bubble. Just because you missed the train of reality, don't fret, another one will be along shortly. But first you gotta wake up if you want to catch it.
Fortunately for you Big Pharma has made some excellent drugs to treat your mental illness. Being a schizophrenic is no way to go through life.
Sure, blame the anger. I think its the political correctness that hinders you.
The comedy that you Palin defenders are so blind…..
Hilarious coming from one of Hussein's lemmings.
When one equivocates the constant use of teleprompters (and an inability to speak without one) with seven words scribbled on a hand, and equivocates the use of offensive, derisive language used by the White House Chief of Staff and entertainers/comedians on radio/TV, then one can see how Christianity and Radical Islam becomes "the same thing", and how freedom fighters and terrorists become "the same thing.
In the equivocated mind of a liberal, everything and anything goes, even lying, name-calling, fraudulent science, invented stories … because in their mind they have already equivocated everything into immoral, unethical oblivion.
Because only a "retard" would oppose statism "Smart" people love the State, and when Il Dufe says "Bend 'em and spread 'em." they only ask "How wide?"
What is the term for unfunny satire? Because that defines Rush. All he does is satire, but its not really funny, and its not meant to be either. Its meant to scare you, and it does… so even though its not funny satire, it is successful satire. Interesting.
You're also completely twisting the context of Rush's remarks. He wasn't just trying to bring attention to Rahm's gaffe. He literally called a group of Democrats retards. But whatever, I know I'm just talking to a wall.
Huh?
What'll Colbert say when he finds out:
BARACK OBAMA SUFFERS FROM BRAIN DAMAGE: SHOCKING NEW SCIENTIFIC STUDY CONFIRMS!
http://naturalfake.wordpress.com/2010/02/09/barac...
Like Muslims going apeshiit over cartoons of Mohammad. Its the same stinking thing.
Or you mean like leftwing retrogrades becoming apoplectic over a pro-life ad during the Superbowl? Again, you leftwing imbeciles are so far gone it's almost impossible to parody you.
And using her own strained logic in the context. It was pretty good.
Check the third sentence of your paragraph and you will find yourself defending Rush for his use of the word. Rush was entirely within his rights to use the word in the context he placed it and that you have, perhaps unwittingly, defended him for doing so. There is no problem here and Palin was right to defend how Rush said what he said. Emmanuel used the term as an insult, Rush did not.
And you Satan will help pay for Mitch's schizo drugs when Big Pharma rapes him and his insurance on the costs and all our premiums will go up as a result. I know your plan big boy. Ahs Satan Malakum.
Palin's notes on the hand don't indicate anything as far intelligence. Honestly the ever present teleprompter makes me more nervous. But I am afraid the rabid support is leading to Perot II. I think she is riding a wave, I think she is an interesting, attractive (does anybody think she would have garnered this attention if she wasn't easy on the eyes?) person. I think the conservatives are so desperate for the anti-obama that anything with an ounce of good looks great…. kinda like coming out of a bad marriage… when you've lived through hell ANYTHING remotely positive looks good.
Loving you guys getting twisted up over a comedy bit…..how thin skinned, but oh I forget you guys with the hillbilly heroin thought master are a joke anyway !!!!!!! Queen Quitter IS A F__ING Retard, but you yokels who follow her are even RETARD-IER !!!!
I blame George Bush.
And global warming.
These loons on the left are going to usher Sarah Palin right in to 1600 Pennsylvania avenue. As Camille Paglia said" When Liberals come off as childish raving loonies, the right wing wins"!
Not in my opinion. I've watched both shows off and on for years, not so much recently since they became so partisan. The only time these guys take on the left is when its so egregious, if they didn't, they'd be shown to be the partisan hacks they really are.
So, following your logic, let's imagine that Rahm said that they were "f'ing n—ers," and then apologized for it later. Now tell me how you would respond to Rush's statement:
"Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are n—ers, n–ers…. And I'm not going to apologize for it." Suddenly it doesn't sound so "satirical," or funny, does it? Colbert's joke was not on Rush, it was on Palin, who is nothing but a political opportunist: she is offended by someone using an insensitive word, and then praises another man who uses the exact same word in the exact same way.
"Retard-ier"
This is parody isn't it? You couldn't possibly be serious….
Damn shame if you ask me. Colbert has better jokes, better timing, and he's quite frankly a better comedian than Stewart. Stewart has to shill to the left. Colbert doesn't.
I must admit Palin *is* special.
"an inability to speak without one"??? Where was Obama's teleprompter at the Republican Q&A?
Evidently lying isn't "unethical?"
Again: "ever present teleprompter' is a lie.
What I want to know is, are the guys getting bombed by drone airstrikes in AfPak being Mirandized first or anything?
How come they don't get a trial?
Why are they being presumed guilty and sentenced to death without a trial?
Why does KSM get different treatment?
Why is Obama retarded?
Why is Holder retarded?
Why is Napolitano retarded?
I quit watching Colbert a while ago. He is very insignficant and his opinions don't matter much. Him and any other entertainer. They don't know what they are talking about of as they don't live in the real world. I know. I have a special needs kid. Sarah Palin knows. She has a special needs kid. I think that the media should just lay off the subject unless it is respectful and informative.
Wait, a comedian whose job it is to make fun of politics makes fun of the big political story of the weekend? WHAAA?! That's outrageous! How dare he mock the Tea Party movement just as he's mocked Democrats and Republicans or any political organizations!
And now he's pointing at hypocrisy over a stupid comment made by Palin (who clearly has no idea what Limbaugh even said, or if she did, she should have chastised him too instead of taking the coward's way out)?
Outrage! Scandal!
I was asked who I would vote for president: Palin or Jessie Jackson? I choosed Jessie. If choice was with Colbert I'd choose Latoya.
You lost your argument by changing the whole premise.
Enjoy your retarded *ss being handed to you this year and in 2012. America hates Progressives.
Mitch, you can't even construct a sentence. I wouldn't call others names if I were you.
Sandy – did you listen the entire Rush show when he said this, or are you limited to the short sound bytes promoted? His whole intention was a "media tweak" to elicit the exact reaction he's getting. HE is controlling YOU and Colbert!
How does it feel to be controlled, duped, and tweaked?
No it isn't. There's one next to the bed for when he talks in his sleep.
Enjoy having your *ss handed to you this year and in 2012. America is tired of Progressive elitism and the ruin you bring to working people. Why don't you head up the line for the next "revolutionary holocaust"?
You sure you don't blame the MSM, gays, and Muslims?
I really hope you tie your sneaker laces really tight because by the sound of things you and all of your liberal friends are running scared. Pretty soon it's back under the rock from which you came!!!
these liberal SEC-PROGs, are supersensitive, they are retaliating because one of their own RAUM EMANUAL refered to them as "RETARDs". So its not suprising that a RETARD comedian like COLBERT would up the ante. ITs all in good fun. Like to hear COLBERT on the SAVAGE NATION, he is to much of a pussy!
WYATT
Mitch you are absolutely right about one thing: it wasn't satire by Limbaugh. All liberals are retarded if they weren't they couldn't be liberals. So buddy, how does the short bus ride?
SARAH PALIN's a tough ALL AMERICAN WOMAN, she could care less about jokesters like Letterman or Colbert. Just remember the lefties BS never worked on ole GW either, HE WHOOPED E'M twice, now their so called CHANGE is WHOOP'IN himself, Largest first year popularity decline of any president in HISTORY. His own nassasistic side is bailing like rats off a sinking ship.
WYATT
They take on anyone who is egregious. Thats the point, the more ridiculous it is the more likely they'll make fun of it. Its not their doing that has made the right way more ridiculous lately.
What do you mean by recently? Starting in 2004-2005 Stewart really hammered Bush more than normal, but, that has to do with Bush and ramping up his ridiculousness. Bush was gold for comedians. But the right wing crazy train has barely slowed down since he left the planet.
If you can't see that, I don't know how to help you. Kool aid tends to do that to people. Blame everyone else.
Wow, it's a troll pig-pile on this thread! All the bridges in DC must have thawed for them to come crawling out and bravely defend a hack comic.
All it tells us is that you're not that bright, which is why you're a leftwing imbecile.
Then I suppose you must home-school your children, and fix your own car then…
Because only "dumbamericans" objecdt to being tax serfs. Really smart people, likejaymzz, when asked to "bend 'em and spread 'em" by their overlords, ask only "How wide?" Get smart, America! Join with our beloeved leader Il Dufe in marching lockstep down the Road to Serfdom! You have nothing to lose but your liberty!
That's okay, I don't need any help from you, don't worry your pretty little head about it.
I've watched the Daily Show for so long I don't even remember when I first saw it. Of course Bush was comedic gold. And as sitting president, he was fair game. But last time I checked he wasn't in the White House anymore, neither was Cheney or Rumsfeld. And Palin lost the election. These people are yesterday's news.
What's the excuse for the last 2 – 3 years with Obama and the rest of the left? The only shots I hear from comic crowd is when they can't possibly ignore something. And as soon as they're done with it, it's back to the same tired old shtick.
If you can't see that, then I can't help you.
People who voted for Obama and think that the State is our best friend shouldn't be cating aspersions at other people's intelligence.
For an explanation of pieceacandy's "thought" process, this may be enlightening Ed:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/arti...
The person who thinks Rahm Emanuel is sorry about anything that comes out of his mouth is severely gullible.
I like you Satan. You insult me without being able to add anything to the conversation. I'm going to guess you are going to counter this by attributing left ad hominem stereotypes to me. Can you please tell me why you believe my statement to be false about the sense of humor of conservatives when it comes to self deprecation?
Bonus points if you do it with out using ad hominem attacks about a made of depiction of the left!
I agree with this. My husband and I used to watch Colbert every day 2 years ago. We stopped recording it though when we went away for a holiday and didn't start again. He was hilarious and would make fun of all the guests that came on his show no matter what political party they came from. I just never found Stewart funny and I tried to watch his show several times.
I watched Colbert again recently though and some of the magic was lost. He just seemed more partisan. I don't mind him making fun of Palin, although I don't completely agree with his point here (in full disclosure I need to watch both Palin's comment and Colbert's bit before I can form a fair opinion, but from reading comments I don't think Sarah defended Rush in the way I would have done it. There were better arguments to make). However in the last show I watched I just didn't see the same evenhanded approach that I used to see on the show in terms of who gets made fun of and just how much.
Did you call Palin a political opportunist? Yes you did. You might want to re-think the insult factor you appear to be implying with that statement. Why? Because your holier than thou president used a dead woman, whos name he couldn't be troubled to mention, as a plug for health care and cleverly slipped in the fact that she was to be buried in an Obama T-Shirt! Talk about a political opportunist! I believe you listen but you hear only what you want to. And to address your N–er argument as pertains to Rush- There was never such an argument and if there was one, Rush would have better taste than to utter the word, but would still find a way to tweak the media and presumably you! The question is, would the media still continue to ignor the supposition that Rham E. could have uttered the word to begin with?
Thanks for the link, still reading it.
I know how the liberal thought process works very well indeed. That how I was for over 30 years. And I was one of the best at it too. Non liberals quaked when a political debate started and I was in the room.
Here's a little tip for you: if you want to get under their skin, beat them at their own game. Come right back at them, have your facts right, know the premise of the debate, don't let them change it (and they will try, guaranteed*), then enjoy watching their heads explode.
*As a matter of fact that's what Candy was doing. Changing the debate from what happened to decent political satire to how stupid conservatives are. I saw it, caught it, and came right back at them.

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly Palin has done to deserve this kind of treatment. At least with Bush & Cheney, the left (in their mind, at least) had a motivation to spew this kind of bile.
Even if you bought into every idiotic conspiracy theory the left has made up about the Bush administration, what is Palin guilty of?
People so stupid that they believe they can know, just from a few words on a blog, if a person voted in the last American Presidential election shouldn't be allowed access to a computer. Just my opinion; yours may differ.
Note that I didn't say I didn't vote in the USA's elections, or that I am or am not a citizen of the USA. I am saying, however, that only an imbicile would assume such a thing from a post on an internationally-accessable internet blog. Again, just my opinion; yours may differ.
I remember all the old comics like Bob Hope. Never heard one of them put anybody down, nor use four letter words. I have one word for Colbert and his cronies: civility.
Here's the thing, friend: Nerds run your world. It's not just these two guys, the history of this CENTURY will be the "Revenge of the Nerds." The 21st Century runs on numbers, chemicals and microtechnology more and more every day. The EPOCH of human development where the strength of a people was determined by the size of it's physical workforce is rapidly drawing to a close, while more and more the "strength" that really matters is the mental kind belonging to those who write the programs and crunch the numbers… and, of course, the "creative" class – masters of the ONE type of human accomplishment that can't be replicated mechanically.
Wishful thinking? Maybe… but oh, what a wonderful world if I'm right
Good point, genius. I'm sure all these anti-Palin people voted for Ron Paul.
Great Link! I laughed as soon as I saw the title!
The Liberal establishment truly fears this woman. Because she is untainted by their corruption, acts and speaks with conviction and will not be swayed by threats or bribes. She can easily topple them all and they know this. That's why the "full court press" is on. Constant derision of lefty pundits, MSM programming and legions of paid web propagandists working 24/7 to attack and besmirch her with the sole goal to deprive America of a leader with integrity. Remember this American taxPAYERS, an attack on her is an attack on you. Because in the end, it is the common sense, working people; who pay all the taxes, who drive the economy, who feed and support the rest of the nation, that they fear the most.
*made up
Just do us all a favor – In the name of comedy, and in the name of all that is funny. Pick Sarah Palin as your GOP cadidate. Because that would be Really Fucking Funny… Please send us Palin.
That's pretty creative for a romper room reject.
Your comment only warranted ridicule and mockery.
I knew you wouldn't be able to. I pity you.
Is it a comedian's job to 'mock'?
The greats never mocked anyone that I can think of. Can you?
You kleptocrates picked a flag waving pinko commie named Barak Hussein Obama, and won. Fine. Now how do you figure that a God fearing, baby loving mother, moose hunting, and a beautiful women could not win? Are you nuts? Not predicting she will be the nominee, but she'd win against this commie for sure.
When didn’t name calling become the high of comedy?
I don't like to write this, but I do think American humor as a form of entertainment, generally, is dead. It seems that most people laugh out of embarrassment. Is body part, bodily function humor that funny? How many crotch jokes have to be heard before anyone says enough?
How about witty risqué like this:
The Thin Man:
Nora: "I read you were shot five times in the tabloids."
Nick: "It's not true. He didn't come anywhere near my tabloids."
I blame the return of swing dancing.
Just one more lined up on his knees with the MSM "journalists", waiting for their chance to brew some hot fresh black tea. Mmm, mmm, mmm! But couldn't they at least wipe the cream off their chins before they get back in line?
I used to watch Colbert when he was funny a long time ago. Now he's kind of annoying because he's gotten so way liberal or something. Too bad……There's nothing wrong with someone having a few notes written on their hand, but to to be totally lost when your teleprompter blows, then that's another story. Huge difference and the libs know it. The ladies on the View the other morning were just sickening to listen to when they totally defended Obama and totally dissed Palin. Too bad Hasselbeck wasn't there that day to speak up, but sometimes even she is kinda wimpy when it comes to defending conservatives. I really can't watch tv anymore because there's nothing good on anymore, except O'Reilly and few others. Sarah is totally underestimated, but that's a good vantage point to be at because it will take those bleeding heart liberals totally by surprise when they all get voted out. I just want someone in the White House to have some balls, and if they don't start growing soon, then a woman might have to bring 'em.
Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are gone, yesterday's news, and you don't see them on Stewart's show anymore. Yet your context makes a clear implication they do still get regular play on there. So lets get that clear first.
But Palin, she just gave a speech two day's ago that was broadcast to a national audience on all the cable news networks. She is hardly yesterday's news. Palin is like Bush redux in the department of ridiculousness. She wrote notes on her hand! Throw in the wackjobs at the Tea Parties and townhalls over the last 8 months and the continuance of Republican mistress' parades and hyperbolic rhetoric there is hardly room for Reid and Pelosi to get the airtime they probably deserve. He makes fun of Obama sometimes too.
I don't think the schtick changes. Its easier to make fun of the right, its really that simple. Its always the same (not so) tired old schtick. Colbert is different because his persona on the show is a right wing parody, so Colbert yeah, his whole comedic angle is embodied in right wing ridiculousness.
Its not very enlightening to my thought process. I'm not a left wing whacko as its constructed in that article. Its the difference between moderate and extreme. Ooops, I'm talking to wall again, I already know you don't recognize a difference between moderate and extreme.
Obama has as much comedic potential as any president, and yet Stewart and friends very rarely take him on. He walks into a window thinking it's a door, what if Bush did that? He mispronounces words with regularity, Bush got mocked for that, why not Obama? and so much more, so much to mock, and yet they tread so lightly with him. Rahm would be so easy to take on, and Michelle, and Gibbs is comedy platinum…. yet they are left alone. Even you have to admit percentage wise the time spent mocking conservatives is vast compared to the mocking of liberal progressives.
Is it merely the fear of being called racist, or might it be they have an agenda? Perhaps it's a little of both.
Thumbs up for that one!
Groucho Marx
"I just want someone in the White House to have some balls, and if they don't start growing soon, then a woman might have to bring 'em."
Amen! Preach it, sistah!! Our male side had better start growing some or it's gonna take us wimmin-folk to pull 'em out of the fire for ya.
"Ooops, I'm talking to wall again"
And there's the condescension, right on cue. Thanks, piece
While Palin may not have come down as hard on Rush she certainly did not defend him. I bet you read that on KOS or one of the other serious news sites you read. Her response to Rush was: “crude and demeaning name calling at the expense of others is disrespectful.”
and yet liberals keep saying she called Rahm out, but not Limbaugh. Why would they keep perpetrating a lie??
Can you show me where she defended Limbaugh? All I find is her response that “Governor Palin believes crude and demeaning name calling at the expense of others is disrespectful.”
Liberal condescension alert! Must be tough being you in a world full of us idiots.
Let's hear some jokes about teleprompters then I'll entertain some jokes about Palin's hand.
And if you think Pelosi and Reid aren't all over the news, I take it you don't watch much.
Perhaps I take this issue too seriously, but as an amateur comedian, I'm really offended by these people. Walking into a room full of liberals saying 'hey, how about that Bush, is he an idiot or what?' and the place explodes with laughter is not comedy. It's preaching to the choir. I expect to hear that from drunks at a bar, not from people who claim to be true comedians. For a true comedian, nothing is off limits. If you choose to put some issues out of bounds (including the entire political left) you are not a comedian. You're a party hack.
And I am not a party hack, I want to see real comedy, not the drivel these hacks hurl at their trained seals.
Might I also suggest you do a tad more research on those knuckle draggers you despise on the right, because I'm usually pretty good at calling elections, and its starting to look like a land slide to me.
One last thought, if I may, what do you find so offending about your fellow American citizens exercising their right to free assembly and speech? I seem to recall about 7 years ago being lectured to and screamed at that it's patriotic to dissent?
Hi Rick,
Up until about five years ago I was a Democrat so there is a lot I could tell you! ( : Namely, contrary to popular leftist belief, becoming a Republican was like coming home to the brighter side of life! You should try it. The answer to your question- The media would cover a N- word issue about as much as they covered Harry Reid and the "Negro" issue. Not so much.
Groucho Max? Who did he mock? The running gag was his stockin-trade, but but ridicule? Nah.
I would love to see how many mechanics or school teachers attended the TP Convention. Retired school teachers don't count in that tally. I'll go on a limb and guess: 5 (combined).
Hilarious. Just thank me for providing the taxes that pay for your welfare, loser.
Because all flunky comedians have a show on Comedy Central. That has been quite successful I might add. Stewart especially, but Colbert too. They both get beat up at recess, they're comedians!
I do believe "bend 'em and spread 'em" is the preferred method for teabagging.
