Conservatives often talk about what they don’t like about Hollywood. That’s okay, but it’s not productive. Maybe it’s time we talked about what we do like? More to the point, let’s point out when Hollywood has gotten it right. And that brings me to the...

At last!
Saw on the marquis last night that George Lucas is unable, INCAPABLE, of shutting the blankety-blank up about his Star Wars trilogy and how he's gonna make it BIGGER and BETTER – like Avatar! Yeah! That's the ticket! He CANNOT stand it when someone gets higher marks than him on a fantasy/CGI film.
Ben Shapiro – George Lucas should have been #1 on your list of world's most overrated directors….
Wait…what am I saying – THE MAN CANNOT DIRECT! Or create. Just regurgitate…
Im so frikken sick of Star Wars I can't look at my favorite movie poster any more without getting a little ill (The Empire Strikes Back) The only comfort I have is that GEORGE LUCAS wunderkind DID NOT DIRECT THAT ONE.
AAAAAAAARGH!!!!
i just watched the "El Mariachi" trilogy back to back to back.
Apart from Salma Hayek (mmmm Salma Hayek) the story goes down hill. I like number 1 and i suppose #2 about equally, but for different reasons. #3 was too convoluted
but it was nice to see Johnny Depp with blood running out of his eyes.
can. not. leave. well. enough. alone. Must. do. something. anything. to. stay. in. the. spot. light.
it is bordering on pathetic
LOL – He dove into that territory when he came out after Fellowship of the Ring and claimed that Tolkien was the one who inspired him to do Star Wars. Really?! *facepalm*
it is like a highschool jock reliving his glory days.
maybe he can read some other books and get inspired to do something new.
Conan's final tonight show wasn't bad. I especially appreciated his takedown of cynicism.
It's been described to me that George Lucas's creative strengths lie in editing, not in directing.
If that's true, why didn't he edit the love scenes in Attack of the Clones right out of the movie?
So is there anyone who knows if there's a sober person in New Orleans this morning? I'm thinking not. Great game.
The lady has an awesome voice. Perfect for Valentine's day.
You can't win a game when you cough up the ball 5 times….
Think Favre is gonna retire? Again?
if the midnight fistfights out side my hotel overlooking Lucas Oil in Indy are indication, I would guess no.
perhaps…
But understand the 'American Graffitti' is a FAR better film than any of Cameron's works- and he didn't steal it, either…
If you have never seen this, it is quite a humorous and accurate review of Episode I
Etta James is a wonderful and underrated singer. My only proble was having Beyonce play her in the film.
I met Etta James once. My grandfather's second wife was an extremely talented seamstress/dressmaker, and Etta James routinely hired her to create glittering gowns. She came to the house once and I, a twelve year old, decided to suggest some skirt styles. She was completely charming and friendly towards me. Rest In Peace, Etta!
Better than Beyonce!
"At Last" …………. voters are starting to take back the country!
Or return to his interim career of whining on talk shows?
And Peyton Manning is the best QB in the league, hands down.
Isn't she still with us?
He had a great year, but looking at him at the post-game press conference he looked totally spent. Guess that's what happens when 320lb monsters flop on you 20 times….
I can't see him coming back again.
Not to mention that he finished the season with 9 straight games under a 100 yards rushing. He's a good back, but he's not the rampaging beast the NFL wants you to think he is.
Ahh the drunken fist fight celebration, only thing better is the celebratory car-fire with a dash of looting…..
Yes, he's been awesome, but I wish he'd retired with GB, with a bit more grace.
Agreed. it's always bad when a team loses a guy that's been the heart and soul. Take my Eagles and Brian Dawkins. Seeing him in another team's colors is painful….
Etta James is a great soul singer, Janis Joplin used to say whe was a big influence on her singing style. Etta is bi-racial, half black and half Italian. If your into the blues the movie" Cadillac Rcords", followed the story of the great Chess records out of Chicago pretty close. The artists of Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howling Wolf, and Chuck Berry, Etta James. Once you got past the fact that was Beyonce playing Etta James, she did a pretty good job. I would have liked to see an unkown play the part but that is Hollywood. Adrian Brody did a very good job of playing one of the Chess brothers. Check the movie out on DVD.
the comedy stylings of Hank Scorpio Everybody!!
good stuff
we have entirely too few sports riots now a days
Gotta go with it…"At Last" (the strings are so sweet):

Happy Birthday Etta James.
Maybe the idea of movie projectors watching clones have sex might have detrimental effects on their performances.
Agreed, we ugly Americans have a lot to learn about hooliganism from the Europeans. I mean c'mon!! They should be handing out Molotov Cocktails and lead pipes to everyone with their paid ticket.
I'll be here all week…..
But hey, on another note, Mizzou's former great quarterback Chase Daniel is a back-up, back-up QB for the Saints & goes to Super Bowl his first year in pros. And he's a really nice guy.
I'm sure he'd rather be the one under center, but there are worse jobs out there than going to the SB while backing up an elite QB like Brees. Good for him.
Just wait till next year.

Sorry, Ed. The Jets had a great story too, I will admit, but I was just dying this year to see the Colts and the Saints in the Super Bowl. Now I don't know who to root for.
I'm just throwing this out there, but I think Favre blew it last night. He did great, but all that talk of how he should have retired a year or two ago, I believe, got to him. He felt like he had something to prove, therefore he stayed on the field longer than he should have, and it showed. If he threw in the second half like he did in the first, the Vikings probably would have won by a touchdown.
Heck, you should see New Year's in Germany. They set off firecrackers and fireworks on the streets and sidewalks right next to passers-by. It's the only thing in Germany that's completely un-regulated. Insert your own punch line; it shouldn't be too hard.
Never say never. I thought for sure he was finished in the third quarter, but I gotta hand to him, he just doesn't quit. As long as there's a team in the NFL willing to take him, I suspect he'll be around.
If I was putting money on it I'd go for the Colts. Never a smart move to bet against Payton.
I hear you.
Hey, here´s some comfort for you … maybe Indiana Jones 5 will be good! Mwaahahahaha!
Etta James isn´t dead as far as I know … but great story anyway. She was a sensational singer.
Actually, yes.
oh my gosh, she is. My mistake, wow! Silly me.
wow, thanks for correcting me, I feel silly!
Not only that, but an argument could be made that he's the best QB in Colts history — and that's sayin' something, if you know what I mean.
God blessed Etta with the – oh so sweet sound.
Thank you Etta – for the best make love song in the world…At Last!
As much as I'd like to see the Saints win, I have to agree. I don't think it'll be a cakewalk by any means, but New Orleans has played way too sloppily the last half of the season. If you're talented enough that'll still take you a certain distance, but not with Manning and Co. as opponents.
Agreed. I didn't watch many Saints games this year, for a pleasant change I got a lot of Jets' wins to watch. I usually find the conference championship games are much better than the Super bowl. But I think its going to be a pretty good one this year.
Close first half, second half Manning plays the Saints' defense like a harp from hell, slicing and dicing his way into the record books.
I'd even say that if he wins another SB, he's the best ever.
Loved Etta's in concert swipes at Beyonce and Obama, hilarious!

AT LAST – Written in 1941 by Gordon and Warren for the Glenn Miller film SUN VALLEY SERENADE. The performance was cut from the film and they used the song the next year 1942 in the next Glenn Miller film ORCHESTRA WIVES. It was also commercially recorded by Miller at the time and became a huge hit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9LJUCPZojM
Here is the performance from ORCHESTRA WIVES featuring the Miller band with screen stars George Montgomery (on trumpet), Jackie Gleason (on bass). Ceasar Romero (on piano) – all 3 are dubbed. Out on the dance floor, Ann Rutherford and Harry Morgan (of DRAGNET and MASH) – both still living. Singing – Miller band vocalist Ray Eberle and film star Lynn Bari. Miss Bari is dubbed and was not part of the Miller band except in his 2 films.
A great song and a hit long before Etta James recorded it and way long before James and Beyonce began squabbling.
Thanks for the Etta link Jimmy
You got it Jed. Hope all's well.
mmmm mmmm Salma Hayek!!!
Hmmm…not a bad prediction. I don't think it'll be a total blowout in the second half, because if the Saints demonstrated anything last night, it's that they will make you pay dearly in short order for a mistake, especially if they force one on you. But yes, Manning will probably be overpowering in the end. Colts over Saints by 7, that's my prediction, such as it is.
Rock with me Henry…
What a mess. Between the turnovers (Vikings) and the penalties (Saints), this was a lousy game.
The Colts are talented, organized and disciplined. They will win.
Peterson has fumbled seven times this year. That's a career for other backs. He hangs on to the handoff- in the red zone- and teh Vikes beat a thoroughly undeserving Saints team that will be easy meat for Manning and his Colts, muchlike how they took the Bears apart several years ago…
Underrated by who?? Idiots?
THAT'S why ESB was the best! Oh!
It's probably not just Etta who was underrated. You are too young (trying to be galant here, natch) but so many of the Chess artists didn't receive widespread play back in the 50's and early 60's due to a form of segregation. Songs often had to be covered by whites. Blues has received a lot more attention the last 15 or 20 years which is great. All I really meant is she didn't receive as much notoriety as she probably deserved. As we know, drugs are far too often the story with musicians and life on the road.
Beyonce could have been worse and certainly was better than Elvis' acting gigs. I'll give you that. Still , she has yet to convince me she really has acting chops
My guess is the Colts by 14 – 21 over the Saints. The game will look a lot more closer than the score indicates.
And it won't be a blow out. I see 3 – 4 quarter where Manning just does what he and the Colts do best, touch down in 4 plays or less.
But I expect a good game, and I'm already planning my chicken wing dinner for it.
I still appreciate 'Somethin's Got A Hold On Me' ! Oh, Yeah………….
As ever, your gallantry is appreciated. ;-D Most of my musical appreciation comes from my parents who collected records and listened to all those then "edgy" public radio stations that thrived on old jazz, blues and what was "world music" before it was called that. So her music is fairly familiar to me.
You're right about Beyonce–I suppose I'm giving her the "decent acting…for a pop singer" pass.
she is so coo? when she write at last ?
and she so perry?
