Danny Glover: Hollywood’s Pat Robertson Blames Haiti Quake On Inaction at Copenhagen
by Big Hollywood
Jammie Wearing Fool has the transcript and some commentary regarding Hollywood’s very own Pat Robertson…
“When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?”

Glover is such an ass-clown.
But why Haiti? Wouldn't Gaia attack America or …Texas…or Christian churches only …or just white conservatives? Why didn't a tornado destroy Rush Limbaugh's house Danny? Please help me understand the earth!
Gaia is Angry! We need human sacrifices to appease her NOW!
This is AT LEAST as horrific as Robertson mentioning a centuries old curse.
It 's more likely because of Chavez devaluing his country's currency or ordering the rolling blackouts.
And this guy is smart enough to memorize lines from a script? Of course, a rational person would be pointing out the massive failure of decades of self-serving dictators in Haiti, but that wouldn't fit Glover's twisted view of the US as a world evil, now would it?
Really, Danny. Please move to some other country that better suits your vapid "progressive" agenda and take Pat Robertson with you. But leave all the money you made here.
Because we all know the fiasco at Copenhagen was Haiti's fault……..
Thank God Glover said this! The only way to lessen the blow of Robertson's idiocy was for it to be outdone by one of the Climate Change zealots.
He's getting too old for this sh*t.
Maybe Glover should appease Gaia's hunger for blood by stuffing himself down an oceanic trench.
Gaia forgive us!
The irony here is that Glover is best buds with Hugo Chavez who is exactly one of those types of leaders that put Haiti in its current economic shambles.
By the same token, I would like to put my two cents in and blame the fact that it rained on my first day of classes on the inactivity of Sean Penn to stop the rain. That bastard….
Oh Hollywood, just take a mental health year please.
Have any of these asshats blamed the earthquake on George Bush yet?
She already did. It's on the news.
I'M getting too old for his crap!
Exactly.
Give em time.
Hey, wasn't it Hugo who smelled smoke and sulpher at the UN immediately after George Bush spoke?
Stop Continental Drift!!!
Can't we all agree that this was a horrific natural event that happens from time to time and not add politics or divine justice to it.
Glover's comment was retarded and Robertson's comment blamed the victims. Lets get over it and get to helping these unfortunate individuals. I donated to the Red Cross website today and have never been so happy to see a site plagued with web traffic problems.
I was going to blame global warming, but he beat me to it.
I think its located in the part where people make rational descions about other people. It can't quite comprehend that others aren't as dumb as he believes.
Yep, he said the same thing about Obama in Hopenchangen.
Geeze, imagine the blow back if that happened.
Might pissx off the earth mother enough to actually cause global warming.
Agreed. There is no need for either side to politicize this catastrophe.
Me, too. I hope our money goes where it's supposed to.
And it's good (sort of) to see Hollywood getting supporting the relief effort…in its own twisted way. Some of its denizens may be freakish and embarrassing, but their hearts are more or less in the right place. At least they're doing something useful for a change.
Yep, article in Mother Jones magazine. Bush & Cheney purposely forced and kept Haiti in crushing poverty.
I'm still a little fuzzy on how it's connected to a war for cheap oil. But I'm working on it.
What color ribbon do I need?
We can, but people involved in politics can't.
When you only tool in your box is a hammer, every issue looks like a nail.
OK, Danny. Now walk over to a mirror. Look at yourself. And say these words:
"I'm a black Pat Robertson. I'm a black Pat Robertson. I'm a black Pat Robertson."
Now, do us all a favor and get back on your meds.
Too bad Glover wasn't standing in the center of a concrete slab building in the middle of Haiti when the earthquake hit.
Yes. Which is why someone is going to find an Avatar angle. There are no earthquakes on Pandora, you know.
Continent color.
lol, im waiting for the toilet to land on him
Robertson is way less wacky that Glover. He never did say it was "God's wrath." All he suggested was that Haitian leaders had made a pact with Satan in the past and this removes God's usual protection as God respects people's choices. He did a lame job of explaining himself, however.
Simple action and consequence, not blaming the victims, and not so so wacky if you are a believer and acknowledge spiritual realities.
What a mind blowing dichotomy. Salvador Dali would have a hard time coming up with something even more confusing.
On the one hand you have millions of people all over the world, praying, donating, hoping beyond hope for people they've never met, and probably never will. On the other hand you have people making political hay for in attempts to benefit themselves.
As disgusting as this is, I do find hope that so many more people want to help than those who want to profit.
It's hard to take anything he says seriously with that dark skin and Negro dialect. I'll wait for Halle Berry to weigh in before I make any judgments.
I'll make the bumper stickers!
It is connected in the same way the Bush paid off his Big Oil Cronies with the war in Iraq. Can't you see how much oil US companies are pumping out of Iraq as we speak? I am not clear what the payoff to Bush is for this Haiti thing he pulled off, but it must be there. Just trust us liberals. Healthcare, Union giveaways, Taxes in the form of hidden fees, immigration, Cap and Trade, just trust us you ignorant, know nothing proletariats. We will do what is best for you.
Now go to sleep….shhh…all is good…..
I think Glover and Robertson are the kind of people Disastermovie and I were discussing in one of the Avatar threads. They're among the public faces of liberalism and conservatism – but they're ones that the other side finds especially repugnant. In a way, they – and other cranks and extremists – are responsible for our apparently worsening inability to cooperate with each other.
Not all conservatives are Christian, not all Christian conservatives are fundamentalists, and not even all fundamentalists are as fucked up as Pat Robertson. But because the news reports every idiotic statement he makes, he's what a lot of liberals see when they think "conservative."
Same with Glover. Plenty of liberals with liberal ideas about race and the environment, very few as massive a crackpot as Danny – yet because he's famous and a liberal and the news reports every stupid comment he makes, people assume he represents mainstream liberals in our country.
I really think these are people we – conservatives and liberals – could seriously do without.
Yeah, Danny, there were no earthquakes in the history of the planet until global warming "started."
It's a good thing, too, since the earthquakes would have only affected minorities.
Look for more comparisons between Haiti's quake and Katrina.
FUN FACT: I saw Glover speak on campus back in '02. I had NO idea what he was talking about. Apparently, not much has changed.
the whole mainstream mediagasm over what Rush and Robertson said should raise red flags with everyone reading this site. when Media Matters as quoted by the Huffington Post as the source of this "outrage", you are dealing with secondhand hearsay. the people taking umbrage are upset because a) the quotes been cherrypicked by lefites to defame their enemies (in this case Pat Robertson and Rush) and/or b) the quotes have been fabricated. i'm sick and tired of this sort of deliberate libel by Media Matters and other-Soros funded radical groups and it needs to be fought by standing up top it.
Robertson and Rush are both private citizens and are allowed to say whatever they want. they represent only themselves when they speak. just like Glover, Garafaolo, and Clooney have the same right to free speech. i don't see why the media feels that Robertson and Rush must waive their first amendment rights when their views are not in alignment with those of MSNBC or CNN. for the record, here are Pat Robertson's and Rush's responses to these phony controversies.

anyone who uses Media Matters or the Huffington Post as the source for their information has play-doh for brains.
here's Robertson's
"And this guy is smart enough to memorize lines from a script?"
Having seen a few of his movies, I am not quite convinced that he actually is. Although he was quite convincing as a buffoonish police officer in those Mel Gibson movies. I don't think that was much of a stretch for him.
Surely, you jest!
Just as Harry Reid was asked to step down by the black Dims?
If anything, this will be treated as thoughtful and insightful.
You must be one of those eternal optimists.
d'oh. some typos above, but the message is still clear. Media Matters lies… repeatedly.
Now if the MSM was really non-partisan they would run both wrath of God idiocies together.
Any better proof that Global Warming is a religion to its adherents than Glover's wrath of God comment. The symmetry between Robertson comment that Haitians historically "swore a pact to the devil" and Glover's abandoning the Climate god at Copenhagen is the perfect match up of religious zealots.
Even if the dull witted libtards running the media could see the irony of what the GW cult has become they'll keep their mouths shut.
No…it's still pretty damn wacky.
And is he (Robertson, not God) aware that there were probably hundreds of Christian missionaries down there trying to help the Haitians? A Baptist church where I used to live sent twenty workers to Port-au-Prince last Monday. What does he (Robertson, not God) think they were – collateral damage?
I'm not going to use the phrase gliobal warming or climate change ever again. I will now refer to Global Warming/Climate Change as Gaiaism, and I will refer to global warming supporters as Gaia Worshipers.
Anyone know where I can see the original video/audio clip of what Pat Robertson said?
My sister went on a rant the other day about what a horrible person she is and I'd love to take the wind out of her liberal sails.
Where's that 'Preditor' when you need him. Unfortunately, progressives don't have a spine to rip out.
May I suggest Mr. Glover?
Um…no, that's still pretty wacky.
And is he (Robertson, not God) aware that there were hundreds of Christian missionaries in Haiti, working very hard to help those people live better and strengthen their faith in spite of their screwed-up government? A group of twenty Baptists from a church in my old neighborhood arrived literally the day before the earthquake hit. So far, nobody's sure what happened to them. So what does he (Robertson, not God) think they are – just collateral damage?
Hillary is Gaia?
And expect them to fall flat on their face. This is going to make New Orleans look practically near perfect.
Your big mistake is trying to make logic out of the ramblings of a liberal.
Facts and reason have nothing to do with their philosphy; just emotions. If a liberal feels that something is so, then that makes it so.
Agreed. It seems many times they are trying to make a connection between something they feel passionate about and an unrelated event (and for this event particularly it is especially repugnant).
I don't consider either liberal or conservative when I see people with false respect (like Glover or Robertson) when they make these types of statements. I see them as crazy and unhelpful ESPECIALLY to their own causes (and they also seem to think that we care). Robertson's comment was extremely unhelpful and insensitive at this time. Even if he believes a 200 year old pact somehow influenced the events today, this does not aid the suffering and dying people of Haiti so he should keep his mouth shut.
Glover's comment was irrational and stupid to the extreme, even if you think global warming is happening. He can believe that global warming causes earthquakes if he wants (maybe this was in a deleted scene from 2012) but no scientist will agree with him and the all of the general public will shake their head in disbelief. If he believes this it is 100% religion, and a particularly weird one at that that I'm not sure who else finds rational. I don't have to justify this any further but continental drift happened on this planet before it had an atmosphere, let alone weather patterns.
Why are liberals so stupid? Earthquakes are caused by shifting tectonic plates. Climate change nee global warming nee global cooling cannot possibly have any effect on the earth's plates. Damn. What an ignoramus.
I can't (well, yes I can) believe what I'm hearing. Danny, what again has the US "extracted" from Haiti for evil purposes? For some reason I just can't recall…
“When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?”
RLMAO! Prime example of a Climate Change Idiot opening his mouth to remove all doubt.
Maybe he'll strip to his skivvies and dance and cluck like a chicken. That should distract from his diarrhea of the mouth nicely. Plus if anyone is wielding a flamethrower… BONUS!
Oh boy, all of those millions of barrels of oil we stole from the poor repressed Iraqis. Oh wait, we dont get our oil from Iraq, we get it from the Wahabbi madmen of Saudi Arabia. My bad…
Wait for Lib protests on raising awareness for Continental Drift. Hippies will croon in the streets and Congress will pass a non-binding resolution condemning earthquakes. It will be a Utopia…
It was NOT global warming, "W caused it."
I recently watched the Lethal Weapon movies again on DVD. Who would have guessed that Mel Gibson was really the sane one of the two?
The Story of Pooh and Dan-yore
Pooh: Danny I am going to get some honey watch me and play along. (wipes mud on face and blows up balloon)
Pooh: Tut Tut, Looks like rain—singing–I am just a little black rain cloud hovering over the Honey Tree..
Danny: Tut Tut looks like earthquake weather,
Pooh: dressed as a rain cloud, rising up in the air holding balloons humming the tune, trying to be nonchalant.
Danny: Sound the alert! (Alarms ringing, horns blaring, lights flashing) Its a Global Warming Earthquake and flood! Issue the Tsunami Alert!!!Run for your life! Call the Marines, CALL MEL GIBSON!
Pooh: Danny…What the Hell!,, What are you doing…I’m out here hanging on a Balloon..
Bees: An angry swarm masses and attacks Pooh and the balloon.
Pooh: (Swiping at bees and screaming)
Balloon: Pop!
Pooh: Screaming and falling, Booooommmm! hits ground
Danny: I told you so, I told you so, it is nature seeking revenge on you for your destructive ways, you stupid bear.
Pooh: Groaning, Moaning (weakly) call 911 need doctor…..
Danny: Hell no, the world will be better off without you…you obese carnivore..serves you right for taking that balloon ride to rape the planet’s resources dressed in black face.
Pooh: Damn! starts dragging his broken body to the hospital
1 Week later: Pooh in traction in the hospital, wakes to shouts of protest outside window.
Danny, Black hooded anarchists, and Reverend Al Sharpton are leading rhythmic chants
Dissolve as an angry violent mob chants, “Shame on Pooh!!!!Shame on Pooh!!!!..etc..
Pooh: Damn! (fade out).
Hey, where was the outrage on Big Hollywood when Pat Robertson made his comment? I saw no articles chastising him.
Guess there's a double standard going on here. But that's no surprise when it comes to you Repubutards. You're all about double standards. Can't keep your heads straight about what's what.
Fools.
Also our culture seems to give benefits for these people who sit on the extreme. If you make outlandish or controversial statements you will get the most discussion time, regardless of truth or insight. Glover or Robertson would be the last thing on my mind today except for the fact they made stupid comments
The people we see exposed the most as "liberal" or "conservative" HAVE to be on the extremes to be heard and the moderates or rational conservative and rational liberals are ignored. This seems to make the general public real conservatives and liberals polarized against the other side.
NIce!
It might be cheaper to stop continental drift.
Danny is ignorant. His praising Cuba for help? Show us a picture of cuban aid workers on the street. Just a few. Fidel would never get them back home.
I do like the global warming climate change reference. Haiti is packed with voodoo practitioners. Climate warming anxiety disorder is just like voodoo.
In other news a new side effect of AGW has caused DGE (The Danny Glover Effect). Symptoms are as follows; Speaking without thinking first, palling around with know dictators and other seedy leftist characters, declaring capitalism as evil while garnering a hefty pay-cheque for starring in bad movies.
George Who?
Sorry, I have George W Bush denial syndrome.
Give me some of what he's smoking!!!
Gee, I thought Earthquakes were caused by a series of vibrations induced in the earth's crust by the abrupt rupture and rebound of rocks in which elastic strain has been slowly accumulating. Thanks, Danny. I now know it is divine retribution of an angry Earth God! I learn so much from Hollywood Liberals.
Tectonic plate movement is man-caused. We are all powerful!
Does a career in acting cause severe mental defect? Some actors on this website are reasonable, albeit colorful, souls – but some actors are nuts.
"All he [Robertson} suggested was that Haitian leaders had made a pact with Satan in the past and this removes God's usual protection as God respects people's choices."
(Oh, well then! That's ever so much more rational!)
" He did a lame job of explaining himself, however. " (Yes, I'm sure if he had explained it in those terms–pact with Satan, etc.–we could all say, "OH, so THAT'S what he meant! Now I see! It just makes so much more sense when you put it that way! "
It does stunt emotional growth and causes maturity regression.
Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod in "The 5th Element" and the entourage that followed him around was the perfect metaphor for all things Hollywood. Luc Besson & Robert Kamen knew what they were doing when they created that character!
Unfortunately, the Red Cross takes out about 65% of all donations for "administration costs." I quit giving to them after being in Vietnam where their representatives, in safe areas, were making multiples of what our commanding generals were making in salaries–mostly for overseeing the "Donut Dollies" a few of whom were hookers, and signing off on applications for compassionate leaves in case of a death or serious illness in some GI's family back home…when they decided to work beyond their 8 hour days, of course.
Danny Glover: Living proof that stupidity knows no racial, social or economic boundaries.
Danny's lack of a high school education is showing. He fits in well with the rest of Hollywood in that regard, but he tends to stick his size 12 into his mouth whever he's around adults.
So you are telling me we don't get oil from Saudi Arabia anymore. I find that very hard to believe. We sell them arms, why wouldn't we get oil from them.
I personally believe so many Hollyweird types are what they are because they spend much of their lives in what Thomas Sowell once referred to as "fact-free zones." Living in a pretend world MUST warp their perspectives.
It's Bush's fault!
It must be the (ex)space marine mercenary s' fault.
Well said. It's like you can't support the moderate, intelligent, well-meaning liberal or conservative without tacitly supporting the extreme whack-jobs.
I almost think it would be better if our poltical parties split into four – the Republicans and Democrats for the moderates and the…I don't know, John Birchers and Socialists for the extremists. Unfortunately, political parties tend to want to accommodate members rather than throwing them out. They don't care if you're a moderate or a freak as long as they get your vote. It takes some serious differences and ill-will to split up a party. Used to be more common in the 19th century. Not today, for some reason.
Oh, well…
http://www.breitbart.tv/they-have-been-cursed-pat...
After talking about the voodo pact and getting rid of the French, Robertson said "But ever since then, they have been cursed by one thing after another and desperately poor." I don't think he was necessarily saying they were cursed by God and he doesn't say that directly. He later goes on to call for Christians to pray for the Haitians and to help them in the aftermath.
Haitians!
The emigration of millions of tons of Haitians to the U.S. relieved pressure on the Earth's crust, causing it to shift in order to rebalance itself. So you see, it IS our fault!
Hey…G.W. Bush…G.W. for Global Warming. I think we can all connect the dots here.
Fortunately, our oil industry is not (yet) government-controlled. We buy oil from whoever sells it to us the cheapest.
Why do you think Obama asked Bush and Clinton to help coordinate the relief efforts? If things go well, he looks all bi-partisan and inclusive, and if things go badly he's got them to use as scapegoats.
Wonder if Obamas Pinko-Commie healthcare legislation will have to take that into account? Mr. Glover is in need of massive mental health counseling at great cost; that he should not be compelled to pay for; that is our collective responsibility.
The scary thing is – he is, like obama, they are not smoking anything they really believe this crap.
My thoughts and sentiments exactly. Earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions are not weather/atmospheric related, although the results of volcanic activity can effect the weather. Glover is a complete ignoramus.
Danny Glover understands as much about cause and effect as most political commentators, politicians and posters in the blogasphere. Given the current standard, he is about as correct as most people.
For me, the perennial question: Does Hollywood create loonies, or does it just attract them?
You'd think an actors would be the ultimate free-market entrepreneur capitalist types. In terms of the business sector I work in, they're independent contractors. They go from job to job, selling their expertise, competing with all the other contractors for a limited amount of work. Takes self-confidence, drive, hustle, discipline, a deep knowledge of the market, and of course a head for business. Also takes an ability to deal with all kinds of people in all kinds of situations. I've worked with lots of one-man and one-woman companies in my time, and they've all been pretty serious people.
Question: does this also describe the most successful actors we know? And if it does, why do so many of them seem to adopt political and moral beliefs that completely de-value their own way of making a living?
Just askin…
I feel sorry for Danny Glover. The man has brainpower and great acting talent, but there's something wrong in the old cuckoo clock. He's the leftwing version of a religious fundamentalist. But people who go out and stay where the buses don't run are fundamentally disturbed. God bless, Danny. Hope you make it back.
