You have to give Rush credit; he was the first to really give conservatives a place to hear something other than left wing agenda driven news commentary.

Before anyone else slams us for not mentioning it, yes Limbaugh was an addict, but that doesn't make him any less right.__He like so many others has overcome his additiction, and in certain circles that would elevate him to exalted status were it not for his ideaology.____Happy birthday Rush, whre can I find some of your neckties?

As an outsider to Rush's inner life, these ideas are guesses.

I've had back problems and at times it can be impossible to find a position to put your body in and not writhe for hours, sometimes days on end. The only cure, and I met someone whom it happened to, is a backbone operation that sometimes goes bad . The patient then ends up confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

I am still guessing but it is probable that Rush's sin was not giving up golf, which would have at times required that he kill the pain – the end result being addiction.

I owe a great debt to Mr. Limbaugh. He introduced me to the concept that the MSM was biased.

I guess I never considered the option before that the evening news and the papers weren't in the business of simply reporting news.

At first I started listening to him one day when NPR was on one of their "theme" weeks, and I was bored to tears with it. So I roamed the dial, found nothing interesting on PM, so I surfed through AM, and came across him, without having any idea who he was. But it sounded a lot better than NPR so I left it there for a few days.

I also figured out that if I listened to him, I could learn the politics of several co-workers, and could amaze them at coffee breaks by knowing pretty much exactly what they were thinking. That was fun.

But then I started hearing things that would never have been broadcast on the news. I heard democrat politicians essentially admitting what they told the MSM was an out right lie. I heard them proclaim positions I knew they didn't really support. He unmasked the left for me in a way I didn't even comprehend.

Rush didn't convert me, but he did convince me everything coming from the left was a complete and total lie. And for that I am eternally thankful.

As a chronic back pain sufferer and the daughter of a man who actually broke his back, sitting is harder on the back than walking. My father (God Rest his Soul), used to pace all night long because sitting and laying down puts too much pressure on the spine.

When I am working or sitting too long, I HAVE to get up and move. So, yes, I haven't given up gardening or boating.

I was there in spirit.

It just seems borderline illegal to deny someone that opportunity because you don't like his politics.

The Rams stink on ice anyways, he's better off not being tied to that doormat…

having back pain is a new development and mine is very minor, but with that little taste I can completely emphathize with those who have chronic or severe pain. I can can ruin just about every activity and the desire for the pain to go way can become the only thought in your head

Not quite sure I qualify as a "Rush Baby" since he came on while I was in high school, but I have been listening to Rush off and on for a long time now. In the early years it was b/c I had to (I was in my mother's car) and didn't enjoy it. But as I got older and smarter, so did Rush! LOL! He is a constant thorn in the side of liberals and I appreciate him fighting a good fight all these years. Happy Bday, Rush. Here's to many, many more.

Why would I want to? He does a better job of marginalizing the latter-day conservative movement than Hannity, Coulter, and O'Reilly combined. That the neo-cons would hold up this giant hypocrite as their spokesperson says everything, and I'd just assume it keep being said.
