Name this movie: An ace CIA operative, condemned as a rogue and now hunted by the Company, bashes and crashes his way through colorful foreign settings, pursued by heavily armed hit men, while back at Langley headquarters an inscrutable deputy director and one of his top lieutenants are arousing the...

Always been a huge Pat Benatar fan! She has an incredible voice that is clear and with many ranges!

Hit me with your best shot, Pat!
Saw her in Oakland in the 70s. Great show, great singer. Class act. Happy B-day!
As the sun set Pat Benatar went to make babys on the beach with her lead guitar husband only to be
over played by every 80s Radio stations Whats that girl doing these days as a mother?
Saw her four years ago at a casino, she knocked down the house. Keep rockin' Pat.
Warning. There's a new book out called "59 Seconds…." (Wiseman) a "self-help" book supposedly based upon science which was positively reviewed in the Wall Street Journal a few weeks ago. I bought it based upon the review but by page 17 put it down and am sending it back to Amazon with a request for my money back.
Perhaps the rest of the book is worthwhile, but when an author who is writing a non political, non-fiction book about psychology takes the stance on page 17 that Americans put a "fool" in office in election George Bush and compares it to telling a dieter not to eat chocolate, I'm out of there . Such a writer has no credibility either as author or a scientist. (Maybe he works for the global warming crowd in his spare time). I read a lot of nonfiction, and this looked like one worth my time. Instead, it turned into just another example of what Nolte has coined "the liberal tell". Sorry, but I've had enough of "the tell" to last me a lifetime.
I just read the article about Halle Berry and boyfriend being whisked through security in Montreal. These jerks honestly do believe that they are more important than everyone else.
They should have been arrested along with whoever let them cut the line. Either play by the rules or spend a few of your millions on private aircraft. Ugh, just the arrogance of these so called 'celebrities' is nauseating…..
Great singer, great band, and good mom and dad! Who put the brakes on a Rock lifestyle, and the height of their popularity, to raise their kids, that’s integrity.
Saw her in New York (outdoors on the pier) in the early '80s. She was one helluva rocker. Even on a second night performance with her voice half shot she roused the crowd to a fever.
While I totally agree that this was out of line (literally!), do we know for sure that they requested special treatment? Or did some star-struck airport wonk seize the opportunity to spare them plebian drudgery and at the same time, score a brush with Greatness?
Way to go, Growltiger!
What? They DIDN'T shut the airport down, throw everybody out in the cold for six hours and chase the two down for a televised perp walk?
I loved Heartbreaker. I'd listen to it over and over again to hear the very last "heartbreaker" she sings.
I saw her in a concert after 9/11 and she dedicates the song Invincible and she related the song to 9/11 (apparently she regularly dedicates the song to to the victims of 9/11 and their families or the troops in concert).
Don't know about how she's doing on the family front, but she played the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto a few years back (2004 I think), and was still awesome.
Pat Benetar is a national treasure. America and Benetar: We belong together.
Okie Doke … then they're officially jerks
Just read the news about Oliver Stone's new movie to put Hitler and Stalin "in context". This man, and those who support him, are seriously deranged.
I saw Benatar in concert in Agoura Hills. Got to meet her backstage, too. Best track: Strawberry Wine
She's heartbreaker!
"the liberal tell"
Hadn't heard that phrase before. Great concept.
Yes, and Ben Nelson didn't ask for the Nebraska perks that Dems snuck in after he signed the health bill. He's a victim of B. Hussein O.'s generosity.
Great rock voice, good songs and her husband's a pretty dang good guitarist.
I can almost forgive her for that "Love is a Battlefield" video…
Almost.
While I certainly agree celebrities should suffer right along with the rest of us, here's one odd truism: having a highly recognizable famous face in an airport line is going to gum up the works something fierce: you're going to to have people hopping out of line, trying to take pictures, get autographs, etc. It's likely going to congest things much worse if they have to stand in line for a long time.
Having said THAT, it should be noted that Ms. Berry is far from the A-lister she once was (last movie was when..?), and this story sounds as though she wasn't in a 1st class line/lounge whatever. So it feels like her dude made a play to get her out of sight before people wondered why she was with the hoi polloi to begin with, and they lucked out by getting a security guy who loved "Catwoman."
Does anyone know if Big Hollywood Contributor Brian Ross' wife have their twins yet and if so how they are doing?
Still blowing us away after all these years with that amazing voice!
I love that WWII fighter pilot video she did. I was very young when it was on MTV, so I can't remember the song off the top of my head.
I'm pretty sure that was "Shadows of the Night".
Here, here!!
Happy birthday, Pat!!!
I was never a fan, not my kind of music, but I always found it ironic that she had such a big voice (she was classically trained I believe) with such a tiny little mouth.
Yeah, she was my first real crush. Some live concert video with her wearing tight leather pants which were laced up in the front. I don't think I ever fully recovered.
Doohhh!
She always looked like the kind of chick who could (and would) beat you up. That's what rock and roll chicks should look like.
Pat Benatar is the real deal. What a singer!

Today, India Times quotes Hollywood actress, Meryl Streep, admitting that the only person by whom she has been starstruck is US President Barack Obama. Streep also said she believes that Barack is more than capable of making the right political choices for the US. "I think it is thrilling to have someone who is thoughtful and can articulate with a certain amount of passion and dispassion, the necessary choices that we have in the world," she said.
Well, there, Meryl, I'm rather thoughtful myself, and I'm thinking that one of my necessary choices is not spending any more money on your films.
Meryl, and any other qualified U.S. citizen, has the perfect right to voice her opinions, and she has a right to vote accordingly. I, however, have the right to keep as much money out of progressive/liberal hands as possible, lest some end up "tithed" to those I consider dangerous to my country.
Another tiny singer is Kristen Chenoweth (of "Wicked" fame). From Oklahoma. Native American roots. Master's Degree in Opera. Powerhouse.
Happy Birthday to Mrs. Benatar. Today is my Birthday as well. Love your music.
I stopped spending money on Meryl Streep movies years ago; I loved Mamma Mia, but love that I borrowed it for free from the library.
Wow, how revolting. I used to be a huge Meryl Streep fan, but the more I hear her say stuff like this, the more she disgusts me. And like you, I will not financially support these people any longer.
In many ways, I think we should be wondering more about why most obviously not-terrorist Americans can't be whisked through security rather than resenting Halle Berry for getting to do so because it's pretty obvious that she and those she was with were not terrorists. In other words, there seems to be no legitimate security-related reason to force her to wait other than to make her suffer the same inconvenience as everyone else.
They requested Special Treatment. They asked to be allowed to cut because they had their small child with them (as if no one else has to fly with a baby.) Heaven forbid they get there an extra hour early like the rest of us.
Nah, she always looked like a nice person pretending to be bad. Joan Jett, Patti Smith and Chrysse Hynde, however, looked like they'd beat you up, steal your wallet, and leave you half-dead in an alley.
Oh, really? You know where her political thoughts lie, do you? Because we know that all the stars of Hollywood just love their country soooo much. Just let her and her hubby and baby Dingle wait their turn like everyone else.
i love her … was a hormone racked pre/teen when she was big and she haunted my dreams
I saw the movie the Imaginarium of Parnassus today. I liked it but it is like most Terry Gilliam movies, full of metaphorical constructs based in fantasy which mean it probably won't be a blockbuster. Debbie Schussel gave it half a Reagon saying it was "too messy" but an okay film but I suspect the type of film Gilliam does is not her ususal cup of tea.
The movie had a line in it that I found moving "It's a child not a choice". The film was not making any commentary on abortion, The line was used to highlight social commentary where rich people use charities more to aggrandize themselves as appearing to be caring by helping the suffering children with expoensive dinners and singing about caring but not really paying attention to what the charity does with the money. I would love to see Nick Nolte review this film. I think his take would be interesting.
I think you mean John Nolte.
I don't know…I suspect Nick Nolte's review would be extremely entertaining!
Rockin' lady who can hit you with her best shot. Oh and hot to boot. Rock on Pat!
I can go along with that.
No matter who is who, a terrorist could "plant" something on them or their luggage.
I chanced upon Mssr Spurlock's Simpsons special, and within 5 minutes got a whole hogshead of FatDumbAmurkinisms dumped on me from the various (lithe, informed, progressive) Europeans he interviewed. Is this entertainment, to be spat upon? Am I just too touchy?
She's a Freedom Concert headliner to me. Happy Birthday.
IMHO, Pat Benatar is the Queen of Rock and Roll. While people remember "Love is a Battlefield" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," my two favorites are "Promises In The Dark", a breakup anthem with a blistering Neil Giraldo solo and honest, heartfelt lyrics, and what I believe is the most romantic hard rock song ever recorded, "Shadows of the Night." "And now the hands of time are standing still/Midnight Angel, won't you say you will?" That line gives me chills every time.
I think it's great that she and Neil have been together all these years. Whoda thunk a rock n roll marriage could have lasted this long?
It was definitely "Shadows of the Night," although that video was dumb. It had absolutely nothing to do with the lyrics. It's almost as if the video was for another song that might have had something to do with killing Nazis in WWII, but the label cut the track from the LP, and decided, "We don't want the video to go to waste, so we'll just play the new single behind it."
On the other hand, the video didn't RUIN the song for me, like the video for Tom Petty's "Don't Come Around Here No More" blew the song for me forever. In the heyday of MTV (back when they played, y'know, music), I wondered if the record execs even saw some of the videos before they went on the air.
I was a HUGE Benatar fan in the very early 80's. I saw her 6 times.
Actually, my first concert EVER was Billy Squier opening for Pat Benatar in NYC.
Aww, yeah,… them were the days.
I have to say, that as much as I really loved Pat's music, her videos stunk.
(I actually loved her stuff until that whole "Love is a Battlefield" thing. She started to lose me then.)
I agree. Famous people waiting in line are definitely going to make things worse.
Though I suppose its probably asking too much they pay an extra "I'm so wonderful" tax for the privilege.
How about 10% of what they earned on their lat movie? Wouldn't that really screw with their minds.
Saw that too. If that doesn't scream "rehab" or "psycho ward" I don't know what does.
I wonder if this will be the final nail in his career? I can't see many people of any political persuasion wanting to be educated on how misunderstood Hitler and Stalin were.
My sister dragged me to see her in concert some time around 1987 or so.
She did put on a great show, and she can still sing. But the concert was on an election day, and in between almost every song she stop to lecture us on the importance of voting, paying attention, saving the world, etc.
While I don't remember her specifically stating to vote in a particular fashion, all the crap about saving the world for the next generation made it pretty clear who she supported.
Funny part of it was, she didn't start her show till after the polls had already closed, so what's the point of lecturing an audience on something it could not do for the next 364 days?
"Lipstick Lies" had a great video
Sorry, I forgot you have to include the quotation marks here. Let me try again…(ahem)
"Lipstick Lies" had a great video.
Hitler "in context" was STILL a monster. Stalin "in context" was STILL a monster. We have to remember, they divided up nations until Hitler gave in to his urges and attacked.
The song was cool. Video? Meh. But the song was outstanding.
Who knows, maybe we'll see another split on the left like with that pig Polanski.
Perhaps this is another line that a modern liberal (Stone) thinks he's cool enough to cross, but many on the left will refuse to.
Someone needs to tell Stone that Obscenity is not equal to Avant Garde.
…with the exception of South Park.
I think she may have been a rite of passage for many of us, asym.
Oliver Stone. Is not worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence as South Park.
(That's why I had to break it up into two)
