It was.. funny. Of sorts, but 'ol kennedy would be crawling for the rest of his existence out of a submerged vehicle trapped at the bottom and drowning forever in Hell, rather then knocking back a drink in a white toga.
A good amount of great people passed away this year like most years. kennedy does not rank among them.
I love it
Hahahaha
'Thriller' to be preserved in US film registry
WASHINGTON (AP) – Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, with that unforgettable graveyard dance, will rest among the nation's treasures in the world's largest archive of film, TV and sound recordings.

Pretty good, Jib Jab. I would have liked to see a little more mockery of Pelosi and Reid, but at least there weren't any "teabagging" gags.
I read about this a year ago. Some indie filmmakers produced a documentary about actor John Cazale. He only appeared in five films: The Godfather (I/II), The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Deerhunter. He's best knwon for playing Fredo. Sadly, he died of lung cancer and never made another movie… but man, what a ride!
The entire documentary (less than 40 minutes) can be seen here:

Been away from the computer for a few days. Happy New Year Everybody!
A Left apologist replied to an old post to which I need reply even thought the thread has been dropped.
In my post I commented that Teresa Heinz Kerry paid 12.7% of her 5.5 million dollar income to the IRS the year John Kerry was digging Bush's "tax cuts for the rich". The Leftist apologist made a point of pointing out that Ms. Kerry's income was in municipal bonds which are tax free — which, I knew, but obviously did not elect to state. He/she (the apologist) seemed to overlook the fact that if Ms.Kerry wasn't interested in avoiding paying taxes, she most likely would have put her investments elsewhere since tax frees have a low rate of return (around 2% at the time). The catch in this is that the average investor cannot afford to put all his/her money into Tax Frees as you need MILLIONS to do this. The apologist was trying to suggest ms. Kerry was being altruistic, but that's as big a carload of bovine manure as I've ever heard. She did it because she's smart enough — or her accountant is smart enough – to know that 5.5 million in INCOME is a hefty tax bill. YES, they are hypocrites and apologizing for them taking a perfectly legal loophole to save money while trying to make sure only the super wealth can avoid paying taxes on their investments. Typical Leftist blather.
Starting today, I will be posting The Federalist Papers @ http://thereactionariesspeak.com/
I know I haven't spent enough time on them so give them a look. These are the things that we can use to determine if our local candidates are the ones we need to move us forward. It's also useful ammo to deal with your local libtards.
Obama's response to the Christmas Day terrorist attack has been despicable.
But the Democrats reaction to our disgust with Obama on this issue reminds me of what we learned from 9/11:
Just as an FYI I have downloaded the federalist papers onto my new BN Nook, as you can also do with the Kindle or the Sony reader. A wealth of excellent info is available for FREE.
Have you guys seen the box office numbers for NINE (featuring a bunch of A listers, that have done many promotions for it too). $5.8M (no.8 on chart).
This humor site is a pretty good chronicle of the past year's political events: http://www.optoons.blogspot.com

I sure hope that Obama gets enough time off from his tough job in the new year:
GOLFOCALYPSE NOW!
http://naturalfake.wordpress.com/2009/12/29/golfo...
The Hollywood Deadline website put it best in its review of Nine and its disappointing premiere: "Of course it tanked. They made a musical directed at heterosexual men; where's the audience for that?"
Everything is a partisan issue, especially to the left.
Lonely, depressed, single guys hoping Nicole Kidman has a wardrobe malfunction?
Those of you involved yesterday with the onslaught of M. Jackson fans
defending their beloved hero from the slings and arrows of non believers of
his innocence of possible sexual interaction with children can attest to the
lunacy displayed. Mr Shapiro's article on MJ posted yesterday raised the
mass piling on of this blog by this group who must exist only for that purpose.
What the end result is I don't know as they change no ones mind and while it may
be fun verbally jousting with these mindless drones it is a waste of everyones time.
Of course Mr Shapiro takes the brunt of their displeasure but to what end I don't know.
Possibly they are trying to reduce or eliminate articles, such as Mr Shapiros, from appearing
in the future or you will have to suffer the consequences of their displeasure. I suppose
these types of folks were around for other similar circumstances but did not have the internet to
use as a weapon. I can't imagine mass mailings of letters tho mass phone calls were possible
tho probably more ineffective.
Which based on the previews, looks like it could happen at any time. Seriously, I think the women in that movie are collectively wearing 6 square inches of clothing. Probably the main reason the producers thought they'd draw more people than they did.
There was a Michael Jackson furor yesterday? Dang, I was out all day and missed it. Just goes to show, idolatry is not a thing of the past.
The interaction between them and us, tho I wasn't part of it I just
appraised the carnage afterwards. Our folks acquitted themselves nicely
but it soon got boring.
They continued on for a very short time then gave up.
Wes Pruden's take on government and Flight 253…
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/dec/29/p...
That was good!
Not as funny as some from years past (don't like the cutout paper style), but the Octomom was pretty hilarious.
Do the math, I was correct and you did not disprove what I said. I am well aware that the advantage of tax frees is that you do not pay tax on them. My point was that the government designed the bonds with a low rate of return and could find buyers because they were tax free. For the government, it cancels out. They get money cheaper, but they do not get tax from it.
The rate of return on most investments even now is far greater than 4% if you bought taxable investments – but let's assume that that is the rate she could have earned. Treat all that income as marginal over the amount needed to bring you to the top tax bracket for the state of PA and the federal taxes. The highest tax rates add up to less than 50%.
This means that, of the two choices, she would have ended up with more money AFTER she paid the tax had she invested in the mix of taxable investments than she ended up with from the municipal bonds. You do not need "millions" to invest in tax free bonds. Many people do who are are nowhere near millionaires. The main reason that more don't is that they want the potential to earn far higher rates of return – even knowing that they will be taxed on them. If you have a few thousand you want invested in municipal bonds, any broker could sell them to you and, like Teresa Heinz Kerry, you could get around 2% and not pay taxes on it.
I never thought that Republicans would call something as conservative as investing in municipal bonds to be a "loophole". It is entirely likely that if you looked back in the 1980 Senate disclosures, Republican Senator John Heinz very likely had his money invested that way. One reason might be that it reduces the chances of there being any real conflicts of interest as there would be with large holdings in stocks.
Yes, $5.5 million in income is a huge amount of income and Teresa Heinz Kerry is incredibly wealthy. Wealthy enough that she has likely instructed her accountant to manage her money very conservatively rather than to incur risk by trying to maximize the income generated. The fact is that her foundation has used its income to help some communities set up health care clinics, sponsored work on women's health and environmental toxins. She is a philantrophist, who has greatly benefited Pittsburgh.
Teresa Heinz is a very good person and definately not a hypocrite.
It is the right that has responded to this as a partisan issue. The fact is the head of the TSA is a Bush appointee. Jim DeMint has a hold on the man Obama nominated. In addition, the policies followed related to this are the Bush policies.
Like the Bush administration, the Obama administration will review what happened, identify anything that should be changed because of holes in security seen by this. The closest counterpart to this was when Richard Reed, boarded a US bound jet with a bomb in his shoe. That had exactly the same potential consequence as this action and one legacy of it is seen at every US airport – you need to take off your shoes.
President Bush took about 6 days before more than a peripheral response was made. That was not negligence, it was due diligence in getting all the facts and deciding what had to be done to make this less likely to succeed in a future attempt and what had to be said to reassure the country.
I assume that this is what is being done now by all parts of the Obama administration. I would expect that there will be changes in how the state department manages VISAs, how the various intelligence agencies share information and in airline and TSA practices. I do not recall anyone attacking Bush on not having prevented the shoebomber from getting on the plane. There are MANY things to blame him for – but this wasn;t one of them. The same is true for Obama here.
Always funny Jib-Jab!
Pretty good stuff. But, in a similar vein though much funnier, Dave Barry posteed his annual Year In Review column.

It's a loophole, it's welfare for the privileged few. It's hypocracy of the highest order. If she were as wonderful and as altruistic, and as "good" as you claim she'd be paying taxes on this windfall regardless – because that's the PATRIOTIC thing to do. Yeah, I'm questioning her patriotism.
Hmmmm – I don't remember George Bush saying that the system worked as promised. Then again, no one in the Bush administration was whining like a 6-year-old that this was a problem inherited from the previous administration either, even though they had every right to do so – what they did do was slaughter terrorists by the truck load in Iraq and Afghanistan rather than putting prisoners of war in front of a jury. What the Obama administration is doing is ignoring the problem, the vast majority of his czars are too busy worrying about important things like the elimination of the constitution, raping little boys in school, and the destruction of medicare. Security is so mundane compared to really important stuff like that.
just wondering why Obama didn't appoint MJ as Czar of Childcare.
good God man! Do you realize that Janet Nepalitano's arrogance and incompetence nearly caused Obama to miss some tasty swells? Dude, awesome surf is almost rare (maybe) and Obama had to actually pause to answer questions! How much more can he take? Next thing you know, someone is going to demand actual results, and he may have to even miss a waygu steak dinner to assuage the stinking masses! How much suffering can one endure?
President Obama then delivers an upbeat inaugural address, ushering in a new era of cooperation, civility and bipartisanship in a galaxy far, far away. Here on Earth everything stays much the same.
so painfully true!
He was under consideration but I believe he was too white.
Step away from da Kool-Aid® boy!
I think airlines should advertise flying Dutchmen on their flights — for safe flights. I'd buy a ticket.
God Bless Rush Limbaugh. Hope you feel better soon!
Please pray for Rush Limbaugh, he was taken to a hospital today in Hawaii with Chest pains. Don't know if it was a heart attack, all I've heard so far is chest pains.
Has anyone heard any more about Rush? I am praying as fast as I can….
okay, let's try one…more…time.
1. It is the hypocrisy, not whether the Kerrys were smart, thrifty or found a loophole. They did nothing illegal. Hypocrisy is not illegal.
2. "You do not need "millions" to invest in tax free bonds". Correct. But you DO NEED MILLIONS to earn a income of 5.5 MILLION DOLLARS from tax frees.
3. When one's husband is running for the presidency on "tax cuts for the rich" being a bad thing, and whether one's accountant did it or not and one RECEIVES AN INCOME of 5.5 MILLION DOLLARS on TAX FREE BONDS, one needs to tell one's husband to shut the hell up about "tax cuts for the rich". Living on an income of 5.5 million while paying 12.7% to the IRS and decrying Bush for "tax cuts for the rich" is hypocrisy in its highest form. The only reason Democrats can get away with this kind of hypocrisy is the hypocrisy of the propaganda media.
Apparently Democrats can't grok that either.
3. I'm not a Republican, but if I were, I'd reply that IF Sen. Heinz (from whom Mrs. Kerry inherited her fortune) were campaigning against "tax cuts for the rich" while paying 12.7% to the IRS, he'd be guilty of hypocrisy, too.
Word dude. These are truly the times that try one's soul. And interrupting a righteous golf game just to cover for the way un-cool Napalitano's bogus remarks are a serious buzz kill.
But don't worry, I'm sure the head dude will get his groove back, the karma will right itself.
About half way through this, someone sends a real love letter to Barbra Streisand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_pzd_w1sS4&fe...
It is NOT a loophole. It is certainly not a "windfall" to make 2% on investments. What was your average rate of return on your investments? The fact is that John and Teresa Kerry do more for this country than virtually any other couple I can think of.
1) It is Teresa Heinz Kerry's income, not John Kerry's. It is not a loophole – it is the very design of tax free bonds. In essence you are paying the taxes up front in the form of a lower rate of return. How do you get "thrifty" out of this. If THK's goal was to maximize after tax gain, this is not a way to do it.
2) Would you be happier if THK put the money that generated the $5.5 million dollars into stocks? Or, would you be questioning every vote John Kerry made because his wife had millions in the stock of an affected company? Or, I guess like many other wealthy people, THK could have put the money into a hedge fund or hid it in the Cayman Islands. It is very hard to think of any less culpable than putting it in municipal or federal bonds.
Why don't you put all your assets in tax free investments if you really think this is a way to get a windfall. It really isn't. There is no hyprocrisy here.
3) Kerry's proposals to rollback the tax cuts for the wealthy WOULD cost both him and Teresa money. He was well aware of that and said it was the right thing to do. As to THK, she is a PHILANTHROPIST meaning that she has for years given money to fund programs that provide healthcare, fund research and preschool education among other things.
You just don't get it. I've explained it as best I can. Happy New Year.
