Where else should Elvis be hanging out but at the Fort Collins Senior Center? I saw Bubba Ho Tep? This was the same Elvis whom my wife Ann dated before I met her and who sang at our wedding. His name is George Gray and he is widely known as “...

Do you think he will bump Oprah's Christmas at the White House Show?
I find it oddly reflective of the times when Houston gets snow before Indianapolis.
more likely he will get down and do the bump with her..ya knows how they likes ta dance
BEST CHRISTMAS SPECIAL EVAR!!!
I was thinking about Obama's speech tommorrow at the Brookings Institute and came up with this:
Obama: Great Moments in Speechifying
Today is Pearl Harbor day. Discuss
If, as a small child, a Democrat had preempted "A Charlie Brown Christmas", I would have become a conservative even younger than I did.
Trying not to nit-pick, but reading the Daily Mail I came across a picture of the Obamas obviously reciting the Pledge during their star-struck White House Reception honoring those all important cultural contributors to our lives. (Eyes rolling…) The Mrs. has her hand planted on her shoulder and the Mr. has his hand on what appears to be his lung, low and off to the side. Wouldn't you think that these two should be a little more aware? A Freudian slip perhaps or just carelessness?
No Christmas show holds a candle to Charlie Brown.
We might as well start the week off right.. SOMEONE please explain how supporting either government party is going to save the day.. I am tired of this game called… keep away… the parties play with the working people of this country. No matter how you party hacks spin it .. It is the working people who pay for it all. .from property tax to income tax . And every tiny hidden tax in between that takes food out of the mouth of child so robber BARONS can have another orgy. ..I don’t care who is rich but the moment you use the power of the government to enrich your self then we have a problem.. To those who deny.. then why when you combine all the tax codes and regulations together you would need a semi to haul it all.. It is not for working people!! The truth is no longer important or necessary to these snobs and the question is when will you get tired of being used as a floor mat. Register unaffiliated and save your country.
"A Charlie Brown Christmas" is # 1 on my list followed by "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", (love Burl Ives rendition of "Silver and Gold"), and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", (blending Dr. Seuss with the vocal naration of Boris Karloff was pure inspiration). These programs remind me how you can sprinkle the real meaning of the season into popular programing without smacking people upside the head with it. I pray that the ACLU or the Cultural Sensitivity Police never get their grimy little paws on these shows.
If you are under a certain age, 12/7/41 and 11/22/63 have no meaning beyond fact and, sadly, no cognitive power for those in that age group. I was born ten years after the fact, so the date still resonates with me…..but it's getting to be a long time.
Half the douchebags in this country don't remember 9/11 so asking them about 12/7 is a long shot.
Disgraceful behavior.
Low lifes.
Carelessness or I don't give a damn-ness? With them, who knows?
Maybe they just don't have any hearts to place their hands over.
It's like Barry pulled the football away from America.
Excellent.
Spread the word, the information, and people will make up their own minds.
Now that's real power to real people.
That would assume they care.
Evidence to the contrary is piling up all over the place, like a Great Dane with diarrhea.
(Hey, my Mom had one, trust me, that is not a pretty sight.)
We The People vs. the ruling elite.
I know what side I'm on.
Thanks Ed, I would suggest anyone looking information detrimental to the Left's agenda, they try the test above for themselves.
Barry needs to go to the 5-cent psychiatrist and work out his issues.
Wonderful, listening to NPR, which is telling me I have psychological issues if I don't swallow the global warming scan.
I don't expect much from NPR, cushy state jobs have a tendency to produce standard state approved responses, but the last part of the report did cause my jaw to hit the floor.
They asked a question, how important is it for the government to actually listen to We The People on the subject.
Amen to that.
No doubt they'll defend it by saying they're just being provocative. Of course, they'd never suggest global warming is a scam or anything like that, but whatever helps them sleep at night.
Great list. I have to sneak "Year Without a Santa" in there. The Heat Miser and Cold Miser are a must-see every year in my house….
NPR needs to go the way of Air America….
Of course not, that doesn't fit their agenda. Nevermind that the scientists were caught LYING……
I wonder if reducing them to JLo, Micky-D's and Benifer type names has anything to do with it.
Calling it "Nine eleven" bothers me. I notice no one ever calls it "twelve seven" but then again I'm becoming a curmudgeon like my dad.
It just touches something inside that brings joy to my house. Not many pieces of entertainment can do that consistently like Charlie Brown. Simple and moving, Charles Schulz was one of a kind…..
It's pretty difficult to find your heart if you ain't got one.
we need more we…. in the people….to bad it is going to take more pain to wake people up..
I used to think that at least the R's had your back more than the D's, sort of like the lesser of two evils. (However, people such as Oly Snowe and Sue Collins have blown that theory clean out of the water. Both of those women know for a fact how universal healthcare has miserably failed in their home state and cost taxpayers.) As of right now it's sort of the only viable choices we have. I say first everyone should unenroll as an R or D and enroll independent. Then we should systematically vote out every single politician currently sitting in Washington right now and replace with the opposite party. That should shake things up, clean out some really dead wood and put the fear of the voter into the hearts of every campaign.
I don’t listen to NPR.. BUT I have extended my hand to the greenies to help fight global warming.. If they help shrink government by half. Which would reduce a large CO2 foot print. I would buy a green light bulb.. But they didn’t like my idea.
registering unaffilated throws off their gerrymandering.. forces them to actually work for your vote.. I know it will work because it scares the party members like crazy.. They sound like greenies defending global warming in the middle of an ice storm.
"December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. … Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory. … With confidence in our armed forces — with the unbounded determination of our people — we will gain the inevitable triumph — so help us God." –Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat far removed from today's crop of defeatists

Problem is neither has a heart, so they have to approximate!
I agree with you 100%.. go to KOMA the land of the green..I tried to explain that to the government it was all about taxes not saving the world..
thebarbarian
No takers? That was such a deal too.
no takers? lots of thumbs…I guess they don't believe in saving the planet..
Me and GEORGE Washington.. Don’t like political parties.. But I can’t speak for George, but you can read his words about political parties.
when the special was first to air in the 60's, CBS executives tried to pull Linus' psalm reading out of the script…
Even back then there was anti-Christian sentiments in Hollywood. Creator Charles Schultz, who developed much of his philosophies as soldier in WWII, much like JRR Tolkien did in the previous war, had very distinct
feelings about war, peace, freedom- and spirituality.
He told the execs if the message was removed he would take his name off the special. This went to the very top
of the CBS corporate ladder who were very much opposed.
Schiltz stood firm. He was willing to take a huge financial hit and even sully his future career for principle. He felt
THAT strongly. Ironically, that strength of character ended up inspiring legions who followed, most notably Matt
Groening of 'The Simpsons' fame- who is on the other side of the philosophical divide yet admired Schultz openly.
Can you imagine any artist defying Hollywood to that extent now? One as successful as the legendary 'Peanuts'
creator?
We can't…
As I write most Americans are not awake and busy themselves with their daily struggles unaware that as a nation we could collapse in an instant.. It is sad that it is pain not joy that motivates a man to action, but I fear by then the patient called America will be terminal. ROME did not die in a second, but it died slowly and painfully and for many reason, the same reason that face us…I believe Rome failed because not enough people believed in Rome to save it. My question is there enough Americans left to save a promise that created the greatest nation that ever existed? Political parties have divided our country into party members and we the people..

Will global warming fix my frost bite??
This is my all-time favorite Christmas show. It's not December if I haven't watched it yet. All of it, from the metaphor of the Christmas tree to Linus standing alone under the spotlight quoting scripture, shows that pure simplicity makes the holiday so much more profound than all the greed and flash put together. They'd never air a show like this today if it didn't have 40 years of love and support behind it.
Great point, as usual. This is a running theme with the Left lately: the first one that really grabbed me was that blatant piece in the NYTimes by Friedman, fawning over the ease and simplicity with which China can just impose its policies on its people because China isn't, as Friedman described, hamstrung by all that messy burdensome freedom like the democratic countries.
Why aren't more people shocked by this? Or repulsed? I mean, really, the left gets into the white house and both houses of congress, and within one year more and more of them are singing to this same sheet music, clumsily allowed to slip out into broad daylight by Friedman, that they find democracy nothing more than a pedestrian obstacle?
This is horrifying and revolting at the same time.
we, too were born a decade after the event (10- 18 years in the crew here) and rmember the occasion solemnly.
It is de riguer to view 'Tora, Tora, Tora' on December 7th annually. We also make sure 'The Longest
Day' is viewed each June 6th. Both films tell a faithful and accurate tale.
Lest we never forget…
sounds just like his biggest fan Barry Soetero, right?…

Fight against the War on Christmas! It's a ho ho ho lot of fun!
I firmly believe that they do not care. Even if the science is a lie, the myth of global warming allows them and their fellow lefties so many opportunities to put people in a state of fear and confusion, and thus allow Obama & Co. to remake this country in their image, they will not abandon this mantra or do anything to suggest there's room for debate as long as they have a leg to stand on, and possibly longer.
That's the thing, they DON'T have a leg to stand on anymore. They got caught lying about the data. Why aren't any of them under indictment?? This is complete fraud…..
My own opinion is because the GOP has held so much power starting in 1994 with the take over of the House. And finally coming to an end in 2008.
For all those years, real, hard core, leftist, statists, modern liberals have been behind closed doors in Hollywood, Broadway, academia, and other out of the way places normal people who work for a living, either don't have the time or the inclination to go. In 2008 they came out of the wood work and swarmed Washington.
In other words, it's been so long since the Carter years, most people seriously don't understand just how fanatical these people are. It's going to take some time for them to penetrate in. 10%+ unemployment for a few years will do the trick.
When Obama's legions of young people start feeling this bite, they'll start thinking differently.

The fastest way to make me turn off the TV is see Obama's face on every channel.
What? People would rather listen to Obama than this?
What we need is a million man march on Washington….ARMED… to get the point across to the left that they have crossed the line. WE NEED A CHANGE in Washington….by BALLOT or BULLET it makes no difference to me.
Do not mock the Kennedy Center Honors! They are awesome!!
I would have been indignant…if I hadn't see in 30-odd times and had vhs tape buried somewhere. They re-ran it though, didn't they? I'm looking forward to the Pixar special tomorrow night.
George Washington, James Madison, John Adams and the rest of the founding fathers were very worried about political party – or as they referred to them as factions. They saw it as the weakest link in the Constitution.
Unfortunately, they started shortly after the election of Washington to the presidency. Jefferson and Madison began plotting almost immediately. The last American President free from them was John Adams.
Adams is a most unique character. He thought his greatest political feat was destroying his political future (and a second term) by refusing to start a war with Britain.

I highly recommend the book. My wife bought it for me for Christmas last year, and I could barely put it down.
A closed-door policy where politicians secretly gather to make decisions without regard for the will of the public is NOT what F*ckYouObama promised…
Thanks for the info.. too many believe if they donot read our past then it doesnot exist.. they have chosen their ignorance and use it as a shield to protect their truth.
too funny!
pigpen..every time he breathes in he raises a cloud of dust..classic!
The one where o sounded like a demented Chipmunk was particularly frightening. But funny!
You want to learn about history, this is about the best book I've ever seen on early American history.
http://www.amazon.com/1776-Illustrated-David-McCu...
This is one of the most amazing books I've ever seen. The founding fathers are not two dimensional figures in paintings or money. They leap right out of the book at you. George Washington really was the father of out Nation. Never would have happened without him.
Here's one thing I didn't know. America didn't really declare independence from England. They sent an open letter to the King demanding, as loyal subjects of the crown, protection from the royal governors. The king responded by sending the army and the navy. They had only two choices: beg for the lives, or fight.
Obviously neither one of them took a basic science class. They teach you things like that in biology. Unless that is where their hearts are!! Kind of confirms that the aliens have taken over our government. V??!!!
They don't have to. O preempted it by making a speech.
Is this going to be rescheduled ?
It is listed for tomorrow night on ABC… 7pm central.
I gave up on work and went back to bed. Ahhhh…quiet building, warm blanket, all by myself, sound of the rain outside. Rare!
On this anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day I am watching on TCM Frank Capra's Oscar winning Documentary, Why We Fight — this seven part series is outstanding:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001008/#director1940
1. Prelude to War (1943)
2. The Nazis Strike (1943)
3. Divide and Conquer (1943)
4. The Battle of Britain (1943)
5. The Battle of Russia (1943)
6. The Battle of China (1944)
7. War Comes to America (1945)
I can not understand why TCM keeps introducing it as Frank Capra's "propaganda" series. Is it because he worked with the US military for the maps of military campaigns so what was once an Oscar winning documentary now in the age of Bush Derangement Syndrome and President Barack Hussein Obama's unicorns in every ACORN pot, the facts of WWII are now called propaganda? Scandalous!
While Big Hollywood has a post about "The History Channel" putting together true Marxist anti-American propaganda marketed to school children with Hollywood progressives. WTF! Ted Turner ruins everything.
a chunk of this speech is my facebook status for today!!
Linus' rendition of Luke 2 is my favorite all time version. I think we found it on cd and used it as the background for our church's live nativity one year (at my suggestion!)
Nothing like Charlie Brown learning the real meaning of Christmas from his friend Linus to make the season bright!
I LOVE this show! The original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is my #2. Never got into the Rudolph one. Frosty the Snowman (the original) is #3.
on a side note…
I also miss Puff, the Magic Dragon not being on TV every year. But that's OK, cuz my aunt found me a copy on ebay!!
(I'm 37.)
If I'm not mistaken there was actually a government office with "propaganda" in its' name at the time. They were unabashedly producing studio-made propaganda films to influence the public. That's what propaganda is, whether you're turning public opinion to a good cause or bad. At a time when so many people went to the movies regularly and got information from newsreels, it was a great way to get information across in a medium they were used to and trusted. Now they'd Tweet, text and have Facebook pages.
Rumor has it that Tiger Woods has just been appointed the new WH Party Czar

Hey, be nice. It's their first time. ;D
The Linus speech — straight out of the Gospels — would not have made the final cut today.
Thanks for the reminder on that story.
Linus' speech makes the special, well, special.
One of my favorite quotes from the New Testament.
"Be not afraid"
I always got the impression Charlie Brown always had the true meaning, that's why he chose that particular tree. It was most of the rest of the gang that didn't get it, until Linus' recitation.
Nope. He spent most of the show complaining that no one could tell him the real meaning of Christmas.
Well, I guess it's an ingenious trick. Get caught with your hand in the cookie jar, deny there's a cookie jar at all, then bust the jar once nobody's looking.
Thanks for the correction. I haven't seen it in probably 12 years or more, since my daughter was young enough to want to watch.
I think an argument could be made, that by searching for the spirit of Christmas, in a way shows he did have it somewhat, which would reflect on his search. He knew the materialism wasn't it. So he was at least on the right path.
I work from home, and after spending some 20 years in a cubicle, I'm used to hearing people speaking in the back ground. I can tune the voices out when I need to. But I can't tune out music. So it's talk radio all day long. NPR for 4 hours in the morning, then Rush and Hannity in the afternoon. (I'd be happy to trade Hannity for some one else, but that means back over to NPR for Terry Gross. Thank you no.)
I'd be happy to fight global warming if there were real science behind it,but it isn't. And they tell us that every time they say shut up and do what we say, the science is settled.
Science is never settled. And if they had real proof they'd be cramming it down our throats instead of saying shut up and do what we tell you.
This is a world wide scam involving hundreds of trillions of dollars, and huge loss of our Constitutionally guaranteed freedom.
Just follow the money. Money is power. And all the money in this case if flowing out of our pockets and into DC.
This is true. I was born just under 39 years after Pearl Harbor, and my grandfather was too young to fight in WWII. He fought in Korea, though. While I recognize what happened that day, and I love WWII stories, it doesn't hit me as hard as September 11th does each year. Memorial Day and Veterans' Day usually hold up as much more sentimental days for me than PH day does.
But they did call it "December 7th" which is fairly casual nomenclature, too. I don't think either that or "nine eleven" is meant to be disrespectful.
And in fairness to 'the kids' of today – December 1941 and WW2 are so long ago for them. There is nothing to tie them to those dates. Even their grandparents often post-date that time.
O tay Buckwheat. From this time foward I'll defer to any name you want. I'm sure if "Pearl Harbor" didn't have such a "catchy" name we would remember that day with a different moniker. But I'll let you make the call. What shall we call it? Engage!
Nice!
I'm fine with \”September Eleventh\”. I don't know, I just want
important things to be respected. It seems to me that using slang and
modern cuteness cheapens the memory of those who died.
But that might just be me.
POURING in Los Angeles. Prepare for our usual hysterical "STORMWATCH 2009!!" wall-to wall coverage.
I put your thumb back because too many refuse to understand your fustration, because politicians are not listening…but if bullets are the answer then our country is already dead.and it will self destruct all on it's own…. send your ballot in early by registering unaffilated. it is a poll they can't ignore. your voter affilation is their power..
"September Eleventh" it is. I'm still not sure how " 9/11" cheapens anything unless the fact that it is easier to type matters. As far as I'm concerned, the only way to cheapen the memory of those who died is to let it happen again. But that might just be me.

It's like the WIzard of Oz–they all had the gifts they sought from the Wizard!!
The above was a reply to the use of the word "propaganda". Let's try it again.
There was the OWI – the OFFICE of WAR INFORMATION. You see their name on many printed items such as posters.
"Propaganda" rarely has a neutral usage, so if it was in use by the USA at one time, it is news to me.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS, CHARLIE BROWN!"
*Tears up & sniffles* What a treasure.
Good excuse to look at Jackie Johnson on channel 9!
I will have a good December 8th story for tomorrow.
The 'meaningfullness' of the work I do at home is far outweighed by the quality of the music I listen to, so I find it hard to listen to music here "at work". It's either gab radio for me or silence.
Ok since I'm fighting a cold maybe I'm not as clear as I'd hoped. I
think I see your point.
I have no issue with typing 9-11. But when one says it maybe it should
be pronounced September Eleventh.
Same reason they call US run Japanese relocation camps aka detention camps aka prison camps – "concentration camps" – screaming ignorance.
About 20 years ago I started taking lessons on the electric bass. Rickenbacker 4001 to be exact. And my teacher started me out by telling me to listen to music, what ever happens to be on, and follow the bass line. Tap it out with my foot. And I did.
Unfortunately, that's what I still do. I concentrate on the bass line, and stop working.
I understand how you feel . My point was some people treat September Eleventh like it happened in 1941.
Good luck with the cold!
it's on tomight. Watch it with loved ones and enjoy as you did once…
