Jon Stewart is not witty, humorous, nor erudite. Is there anything more pathetic than the canned audience laughter that greets his every utterance?

after the "Disciples of Gore" have been caught in their "CLIMATEGATE" lies.
I actually give the guy credit for standing up against the global warming robots. It is kind of embarrassing for every one else on the left. This still does not change the fact that Jon Stewart is a douche bag.
And yet from his closing comments, he STILL believes in global warming, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Even after reporting the fact that global warming "scientists" were caught fudging numbers, he still has to tow the party line with his polar bear thing and making fun of Repubs. Keep it up Jon, you almost got replaced by Rosie O'Donnell.

Stewart and the rest of the stunned left wing media twits treated global warming as if it were sacred well beyond the point that its fraudulent nature became obvious. That even he no longer has the cojones to promote it is no credit to him

Reflect on the absurdity of a huge campus like Penn State hosting Al Gore or a GW rally when it's leading scientific proponent on the faculty, Michael Mann, is on suspension and under investigation for fraudulant behavior. Phil Jones at the University of East Anglia is supended while his university conducts an investigation too. This will pick up speed across higher education. Gore's lucrative GW religious revival meetings on campuses will never be the same.
But there WAS voter fraud, Jon. James and Hannah's undercover op revealed ANOTHER problem with ACORN. Duh. Also, it was apparently BEFORE this scandal (which only confirmed the obvious) that the theory of AGW is horseshit. Put your thinking cap on, Jon. It'll all start to make sense soon.
Hardly a surprise. Every time the Left gets caught "red" handed their first response is to try and turn it into a joke. This is not a laughing matter. Trillions of dollars might have been pissed away and the economies of entire nations devastated had this lie not been exposed. That would've been a crime against humanity.
A lot of prominent global warming zealots of the left are going to now start peddling the "We were ALL fooled!" excuse. No, some of YOU were fooled. Most of you simply IGNORED the truth about "man-made global warming", because the hysteria surrounding it was giving political power to the left, and because the solutions being put forward just happened to be the same socialist schemes "progressives" have been trying to foist on the American people for decades. Jon Stewart isn't just now "getting it". He knew global warming was a scam all along. He's just smart enough to know that he can't peddle it anymore.

You have a good point. There will probably be a lot of feigned outrage over the GW scam– most prominently on the left. I think they're still in retrench mode in which they'll try to convince themselves that GW is real. As it becomes ever more clear that it isn't, then you'll really see the moral outrage begin– with Stewart in the lead.
The Daily Show was mostly better when Craig Kilborn was the host, I think. He's a narcissist, sure, but he's not as bad a self-important snarking little sphincter face with delusions of grandeur as Stewart.
Plus, Craig had the segments Trivial Compromise and 5 Questions… All nancy-boy Stewart has is foul language, eye rolling and self satisfied smirks. It's hard to grasp that for a certain demographic, he's their Walter Kremlin-kite.

By the time the election rolled around I got to a point where I could not watch Jon Stewart because he turned into another liberal hack.
A few months after Obama was elected I would occasionally tune into his show to see if at least HE was doing the proper American comedic roll of BASHING WHO EVER IS IN POWER!
I mean really, how long can someone continue to do anti-Bush jokes and rag on Fox news?
Unlike Colbert and SNL at the time, Stewart was slowly picking up on the piles of COMIC GOLD that was coming out of Washington! He still picked on Fox and the right at the time. But he was starting to turn his guns on Obama and the left.
I expect that he will continue to make fun of both sides on issues. But also understand that he had to take a slow approach to this. After all he became famous during the 8 years of Bush. So he really can't alienate all of his viewers at once.
Just my thoughts on it.
P.S. Colbert is as left as ever. I expect his show will not be on the air in a couple of years. Heck even SNL has been poking fun at Obama lately.
I just sent an email to the American Geophysical Union (AGU), which I am a member, asking when they will apologize, in light of "climate-gate", for promoting the AGW fraud for so many years. (yeah, I'll be waiting a long time for that apology)
You might check out Red Eye on Fox News (3 AM EST… but that's what DVR's are for). Some of the best moments from that show is when the Camera Crew completely cracks up.
Really, you don't find Jon Stewart erudite? Like him or not, the man is sharp. I've yet to hear him on either side of an interview where he wasn't entirely, even impressively, well informed about every subject that was raised.

The reason Stewart matters is because he does go after anything that annoys him first and agenda a distant second. He's mad at these guys because of what they did but also the unintended consequences: He's intelligent enough to realize that Climate Change is a real thing, and he's culturally-aware enough to know that these guys effing with the data for what they see as a greater-good is going to strengthen the resolve of the ostrich-impersonators to continue denying it (see: this site, for the most part.)
Honestly, consider the logic amid all this cheering and back-slapping: Because a handful of people involved in the research were behaving badly, that means the whole thing is fraud? By that logic, because that peice of the True Cross you can buy at a tourist-trap in New Hampshire isn't real, then Christ never existed; or because Oliver Stone's JFK was probably not accurate, Kennedy was never actually shot
A funny piece but Jon's use of the pejorative "deniers" disturbs me. Especially as earlier he used the more neutral "skeptic" in describing critics of climate change research and legislation. "Deniers" implicitly elevates climate change theory to coeval with The Holocaust while demonizing skeptics as being no better than neo-Nazis — this is inappropriate. The Holocaust is an historical event no more open to question than, say, the American Revolution. Last year the Discovery Channel aired a program on scientists who argue against the theory that a meteor crash brought about the demise of the dinosaurs. Nowhere in the piece did their critics call them "meteor deniers". As for this news, even worse than the apparent manipulation of data shown in the climate research emails is the apparent corruption of the peer review process. It is not science to quash the work of colleagues whose data and conclusions contradicts yours.

If current political events were all I were talking about, then that might be a valid (if strangely passive-aggressively phrased) point. The impressive incidents I was referring to, though, were more along the lines of his off-the-cuff knowledge of world/US history and breadth of literary familiarity. They may not say anything about his relative political incisiveness, but they do place him amongst the more intelligent and educated (read: erudite) celebrities.

Well, what is accurate about this entire debate? The "Hockey Stick " graph that got the ball rolling has been debunked after a smear campaign against the detractors. Eastern Antartic ice is growing faster than Western shrinkage. Artic ice is greater than being presented, after the AGW group was shown to be twicking their data. Polar bear population is up. Russian scientists have been calling a catastrophic cool down for several years based on solar cycles. "Green"-land was not a clever trick to lure in tourists, it really was green in the middle ages. So what are you left with? Globalists like Al Gore and Soros looking for an excuse loot the world and put mankind under the thumb of the UN.

I am done with John Stewart, and it is tiresome to give him kudos for 1 or 2 funny lines when 23.98-7-365 he is bashing conservatives. God bless Sen. Inhofe who stood firm when everyone else was following this nonsense.
Sounds like John's still just making excuses; just had to add those little caveats about phone taps and Haliburton conspiracies [which are still comically tenuous] . He still believes in global warming – he was just admonishing those who gave ammo to the conservatives. It was lame at best. He also failed to mention that due to the data [which is the basis of all other studies] being compromised, futzed with, discredited and tainted, the government is still moving ahead with their multi-trillion dollar sovereignty killing plans and still claiming that 'the science is settled'. That is the primary issue – not just a cute occasion to rip on Al Gore, and vindicated Right wingers. But at least John boy actually brought it up and didn't completely dismiss it, unlike the mainstream media. There may still be hope for John to at least become a Libertarian; I never took him for a far lefty anyway.

I don't watch Stewart but I'm always happy to see him take some jabs at leftist dogma. Whether we like him or not, he has some influence over voters who wouldn't question global warming if they had documented facts right in their face. It's interesting to see how Obama's presidency is turning people away from liberalism faster than anything we could do from our end.
