WH Gate Crashers Speak: ‘We Were Invited’

One source close to the investigation said the couple produced the e-mails at the security checkpoint last Tuesday to show that they had been invited to the event. The Secret Service, which has interviewed the Salahis as part of its own investigation, has obtained copies of the e-mails.
On Monday night, the White House released a statement in which Jones said she did nothing to help the couple get into the dinner.
“I did not state at any time, or imply that I had tickets for ANY portion of the evening’s events,” according to the statement from Jones, whose title is special assistant to the Secretary of Defense and White House liaison. “I specifically stated that they did not have tickets and in fact that I did not have the authority to authorize attendance, admittance or access to any part of the evening’s activities. Even though I informed them of this, they still decided to come.”
Jones, who did not return calls seeking comment, is a retired Army major who was appointed in July.
Nick Shapiro, a White House spokesman, declined to comment on the e-mails between Jones and the Salahis. He reiterated that the couple did not have invitations.

This couple is made of sheer nerve. I saw a segment on the news that showed a picture of the wife posing as a Redskins cheerleader at a game (I think–some event where they were performing). Apparently she actually tried to fake it as a cheerleader during a performance and the other cheerleaders said she looked the part, but when she started to perform, it was clear she didn't know what she was doing. This must be her shtick. I don't know if she's roped her husband into it, or if he's always been a participant.
Okay, I confess. I invited them.
At least the LATimes finally corrected that Jones was never an officer or major, but the command sergeant major – but who would expect anyone at the LAT to understand military grade?

Think this is the correct spelling. Either way it sure fits, doesn't it? Every one is a victim, including the con men of the world. Somehow, considering the rank amatuers that are in power now it does seem oddly fitting, though…

This isn't about the couple, LibraryLady… it is about security of the President. Our President.
Much like inthe Polanski story, the victim has said she wishes that charges were dropped… which is fine, but we don't necessarily pursue the right course for the sake of the girl. We pursue the right course for the sake of presedent, for the next time it happens.
Rush spent about 5 minutes on this during today's show, and he's made some interesting points and thoughts.
First off, I've been to a presidential event before, Ron Reagan's 1984 re-election tour. He wanted a trip to some place where unemployment wasn't going through the roof (his economic plans were just starting to take hold). The area where I lived was a big hi-tech region at that time. Three IBM sites, GE, Singer-Link, just to name a few.
No one gets into a presidential event with out going through security. I don't believe for a second they slipped by the secret service. They were let in.
They're also pitching a reality TV show on BRAVO, which Rush said is owned by NBC. James Immelt, the President of NBC was at the event also.
And anyone who pays any attention to politics on TV, knows how much in bed NBC is with the White House.
I wouldn't put it past the White House to let them sneak in, get their photo ops for their TV show ads, and NBC gets all this free publicity. They didn't anticipate this kind of blow back, so every one is looking for cover, hence the secret service under the bus.
At first I thought this was Balloon Boy Part 2, but upon further review I see that this couple has built up quite an impressive resume of similar stunts over the years. I say good for them. Everyone has to have a hobby….who am I to criticize theirs…and in some strange way I admire their social engineering skills. BTW The reason why the 'plot is thickening' is because Obama's security detail was embarrassed and made to look foolish and the general fear is that this security vulnerability might prompt closer scrutiny into our COUNTRIES military defense and Obama doesn't want anything that will detract from the attention of his decision to pulll troops from Afghanistan. When you really…really think about it…Doesn't it seem a bit odd that this case is as public as it is?? I thought most SS inquries of this nature were dealt with in private.
Lucky for Jones she merely invited two publicity hounds and not some international assassin.
But what country would want to off Obama? What with all the bowing, kowtowing, and supplication. Never have other countries felt so superior to us!
This is just another example of the Obama Amateur Hour.
The government makes a complicated mess of everything it touches. Is a Congressional investigation required to determine whether the Salahis deceived their way into the White House event or were invited by someone in the Obama Administration? If they deceived their way in, it should be simple to ascertain who they deceived. If they were invited, it should be equally simple to ascertain who invited them. Instead, millions of taxpayer dollars will be wasted on an investigation that will probably prove the "party crashing" was a publicity stunt some in the Obama Administration knew about. It's inconceivable that a Secret Service Agent trained to protect the life of the President of the United States would have allowed people with no invitations and whose names did not appear on the guest list to get near President Obama because they produced unverified e-mails at the door.

Two vapid media whores crashing a formal Obama WH event, it's the perfect metaphor for the vapid Empty Suit's MTV-ish gravitas. Ask yourself if fools like the Salahis would have given themselves permission if it was anyone but vapid boy child as President? I think not.
This is the presidential dignity and decorum challenged little twit that is inserting himself this month into a network Christmas entertainment show. He simply doesn't understand that no matter how many venues he inserts his wooden phony persona that more and more Americans will increasingly loathe him.

That actually makes a LOT of sense. It sure as heck makes more sense than the fact that they were "not invited" and yet got through all kinds of security.
Nothing is "simple" regarding investigations of government personnel or a potential security breach where the President is involved and so, yes, a Congressional investigation IS necessary.
If Obama or anyone else had been shot by someone who had no invitation but who had still gotten into a State dinner or other function, you BET there would be hue and cry for an investigation!

I would like to be able to ignore this story, but it's just too indicative of the state of our society. We are looking at the convergence of the ego driven mind. When people are told often enough – and when the fact is proven, that if you "do the right things" you will be recognized – then people are going to do what Americans do; strive for a better life. What is not told, or what people don't understand is, the style of recognition achieved depends upon the choices you make to get there.
The gate crashers are no different from the Balloon Boy family. And they're no different from the recently deceased DC sniper. Reality shows, playing guitar in your underware in Times Square, riding in a group of bicyclists across the country, sailing solo around the world, and on and on. Everybody wants to be noticed in some way. They want to share "something" with humanity. Everyone thinks they have a right to get "there". And the great thing is, they do. Well, wait. They have a right to TRY to get there.
But … if what they do puts them in an embarassing light, or causes shame, loss, or devastation, then they need to wear the mantle of infamy. After all a coin has two sides. Not everyone can be famous.
Those might not have been so bad, except you'd probably need to replace "Caligula" with "Nero." Anyone here know how to play the fiddle?
The name(s) of the gate keepers will have to be found out. Somehow these people got past established security protocols. This is just becoming too big of a story for even the lamestream media to ignore or push for the juicy bits. And if they don't, then the digital media will do it. Look at the Secret Service. They took the bullet early for the protection of someone. Just as they're supposed to do. But was it the President? I doubt it. I believe the intended victim(s) will turn up sooner or later. At least, they should!!

Maybe the White House is using the same kind of security measures they use at the borders. After all, the Salahis are just "undocumented" dinner guests. They were eating the food other Americans wouldn't, or at least shaking the hands that other Americans won't shake.

Reality TV is one of the many reasons I quite TV a few years ago. It's not all terrible of course but the way people seek the spotlight quite honestly disgusts me.

I don't know what to make of this D. My guess is that a few heads at the SS will role. From what I've read of this so far the couple was not invited; and it appears that there will be more finger pointing on the way. 0bama is quite deft in deflecting blame, we'll see if his staff has learned any lessons from him.
A friend on twitter made a good point. These morons technically aren't party-crashers. They helped fund the shindig along with the rest of us taxpayers. Of course, I wouldn't recommend handing the Secret Service your tax return if they ask for your invitation at the next state dinner, especially considering the lack of regard their boss has for the poor slobs who actually pay their taxes.
Boy………..it's getting awfully crowded under that bus. We're going to need a bigger bus………..with more ground clearance.

I am NOT convinced that the Secret Service is so lax as to let two people into a White House event without invitations..I think that Obama needed something to take people's mind off the health care debacle and the war in Afghanistan, and the whole thing was a set up…look at the smile on Obama's face as he is shaking hands with her!!! True, why should I need an invite to a party I am paying for? Also it is time the SS was disbanded. If a government employee thinks he needs a bodyguard, he should pay the salary out of his own pocket.
