And guess what, Rudy didn't go to Vietnam either yet he stood there and mocked someone who did. I thought it was all about thanking people for their service with you guys.

I've heard about Bush volunteering but, oddly enough, there's no proof like transfer requests etc. to back it up. And if he'd really wanted to serve he could have joined the army or marines. All this talk about Kerry's made up record is really up to conjecture. But there are two facts. Kerry put his boots in Vietnam and George opted not to.
And your right, Kerry talked way to much about his service and the Republican party managed to smear it but W couldn't really talk much about his service because there wasn't much to say.
They were still talking about Kerry in the last campaign. I was watching Rudy Gulliani's speach at the republican convention and he was smearing everyone in the democratic party and when he got to Kerry he said, "And John Kerry, he went to Vietnam!". Big grin, big laughs from the audience. It was pretty disgusting because yeh, Kerry went to Vietnam and Bush didn't. Neither did Cheney or Wolfowitz or Libby. I think Rumsfeld was old enough to go to Korea but I don't think he did.

actually George Bush volunteered for Operation Palace Guard, but was not qualified in the F-4's they were using and didn't have enough active duty time left to train. Kerry faked most of his so-called 'adventures'; he lied about being in Cambodia and volunteered to write the after action reports for his Boat Squadron so he could advance his career through his exaggerations.

This is all true. He is hated by most of the' Swifties' who knew him, and his Silver Star and Purple Heart are seriously disputed. He only served for a few months as a Riverine and was regarded as a shameless self promoter.

'W' never made much of his service unlike Kerry. So if you're going to go down this route know whay you are taliking about- and it helps to have served...

Nice try. The fact is George never put himself deliberately in harm's way by going to Vietnam, yet during the 2004 campaign Kerry was mocked for his service.
And it does make a difference. It just points out yet another failure by Bush. Especially after all his "smoke 'em out of their caves" rhetoric.
