Gratitude.
The Breitbart 'family' is bringing America back together again. Thanksgiving 2009 feels different. Renewed optimism.
Really. Thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Be thankful we complain ONLY about lousy politicians and stupid celebrities and not about anything that's really important.

"Why did you close the inn and sit around like a jellyfish with the misery?" I love that line.
After getting flushed from the HuffPoo toilet about 7 months ago for pointing out too much of the Left's endless hypocrisy, I am so thankful I found Big Hollywood. I can't begin to express my gratitude to Mr. Breitbart, John Nolte, and all the wonderful writers they have assembled here and on Big Government. And I also want to thank all the truly creative intelligent posters on these boards who routinely crack me up, make me think, or teach me something new. This is an outstanding Big Community of intelligent thoughtful people who restore my faith in America and give me the courage and know how to keep fighting the good fight.
Thanks everybody and Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at Breitbart, Big Hollywood and Big Government, and to the online community of fans of this site. It's clips like this that re
ind us of the charm, innocence and humanity in this holiday and our country that the divide of politics can never take away from the people
Even after viewing the subtle racism of this clip, I love it still. Because it is Mamie's positiviism that is embodies what it means to be an American. Things could be better, but let's be thankful for what it is now and work to make it perfect. Thank you, God! And please bless America! We need it now!
Eeewww! So many typos and grammatical fubars.
My apologies. But I hope you get my drift.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Including all of us like myself stuck at work instead at home with family. :\\
Here's a little history lesson for those who didn't get the turkey joke. In 1939, 1940, and 1941 Roosevelt proclaimed Thanksgiving a week earlier than usual, presumably to add an extra week of Christmas shopping and help the economy. This wasn't popular and many still observed Thanksgiving on the traditional date, calling the earlier one "Franksgiving." That is why the turkey was moving between the two dates on the calendar.
"You can melt her heart down to butter if you only turn up the heat."
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I just want back for seconds. You would think I would know better. So, think of me tomorrow when I am reduced to water and a toothpick for dinner and exercising my behind off. LOL
They could have been overtly 'racist' and not cast her at all.
what movie was this?
Don't know that I see the "subtle racism". I would venture that the character represented an at least somewhat accurate depiction of the "domestic" workforce at this time. The clip does not suggest that working as a domestic is all that she would be good for, but rather, that it is what she is doing. And ultimately, she has more insight than her "brainy" boss. And he has the sense to listen to her. A little more common sense and plain talk, and a little less "political correctness" is a good lesson to heed. No matter what the era.
Holiday Inn, 1944 if I am not mistaken. I think the hotel chain took it for a name. The thing with Bing Crosby is that he invested in a lot of things, Frozen Orange Juice for example. He was one of the early Birdseye investors. I would not be surpised if he didn't have something to do with the Holiday Inn Chain. Him and Phil Harris use to be a riot on American Sportsman, those guys hunted and fished a lot.

Bing was a huge believer in technology and pushed the envelope in advancing the technology used in entertainment, most notably the use of audio tape. Unfortunately one of his innovations still haunts us today: the recorded laugh track.
