ABC’s AMA Awards: Some ‘Simulated Fellatio’ For the Kids

Adam Lambert shocked and surprised the American Music Awards Sunday night with what some viewers deemed a “lewd” performance of the title track of his newly-released debut album, “For Your Entertainment.”
The “American Idol” runner-up pelvic-thrusted his way through the four-minute, S&M-themed routine, taking time out from singing to grope a female dancer, kiss a male musician and, most shockingly, shove a male dancer’s face into his crotch, in an act that simulated fellatio.
The raunchy stuff was apparently added to the live broadcast, and the routine, at the last minute, and the network said yesterday it was caught by surprise. The simulated sex act was edited out of the videotaped version of the awards show that was transmitted three hours later to the West Coast — but the rest of Lambert’s performance remained intact.
The edit wasn’t enough to hold back a tidal wave of upset viewers who’ve complained to ABC about the sexually charged stage show. More than 1,500 complaints were logged by the network on the day following the broadcast, reports the AP.

I didn't watch this on tv, but I clicked on the link on youtube to see what all the fuss was about. I turned it off midway through. It was repulsive. If he thinks that's what passes for entertainment, he's got another thing coming.
On another related note, his album is full of similar content. I only listened to two tracks all the way through. It's not worth spending a single cent on. The theme of the entire album seems to be "do whatever feels good, regardless of the consequences or whether or not it goes against all common decency." There were songs about s&m, songs about sleeping with anything that moves for validation, getting high and throwing a bisexual orgy because you can't be with the person you love, militantly shoving your beliefs down everybody's throats whether they want it or not, etc.
I don't care if the guy is gay. I grew up listening to Elton John, David Bowie, George Michael, every single male band in the 80s, etc. The difference is, they weren't plastering p0rnography all over my television screen and calling me a bigot when I was offended.
Where's the woman who writes the lame "I heart Adam" columns here?
It's a trending topic on Twitter in the top 5 anyway.. What is sad is that networks seem to think that shock T.V. is the only way to get ratings when in fact intelligent T.V. would go much further toward that goal.

I watched this guy on American Idol (mostly because my Girlfriend won't allow anything else on the telly when it's on) It's a sad state of affairs when people like him who actually have a shred of singing talent instead resort to excessive pelvic thrusting to attain fame and fortune.

Quite frankly, I found the stage show to be offensive but nowhere near as bad as the "music". The was truly one of the worst songs I have ever heard….and considering his apparent lack of talent only one thing left to do, SHOCK and APPALL! (at this moment I am listening to "The Man Who Sold The World" just got done with "Music From Big Pink" so, perhaps it is my taste that is dated?)

I am all for freedom of expression but this is just porno gone wild. We are told to accept it or we are gay haters,
what Adam does in his spare time is no concern of mine. I just don't want it in my home. many reasons why I have quit watching a lot of television. censership is everything in my house. Because I am the boss… I loved Elton John as a kid. Even though he was outlandish at times( remember Elton John's glasses and outfits?) Plus he could sing.
Talentless singers resort to lewd or provocative performance antics on stage for the same reason struggling comedians resort to bashing George Bush in their comedy routine. It's because it is cheap and easy and it distracts you from their real lack of talent and creativity. And please I do not want to engage any American Idol fans as to how talented those contestants are. Just because someone can sing better than you, does not mean they are talented.

What's equally offensive to me is the unrelentless pursuit by mediocre artists to stay relevant at all costs. You would be suprised how few people actually care about Adam Lambert, but suppose you had the money to assemble a 50 man publicist team in which their job was to canvas the internet posting positive things about Lambert while at the same refuting anything negative. In no time you would create a snowball effect and people would be talking about you too.

I don't know, I think he's immensely talented. But, I saw signs that he wanted to take it farther than AI would let him. I'm really sorry that he felt it necessary to shove his profane sexuality in my face – I turned it off when I saw where it was headed and I didn't go back to the show. I won't support that kind of behavior. From anyone, any gender, any age – I just won't watch or buy their music. I loved Madonna's music from her first album because it was perfect for aerobics, but once she started with the sado masochism and Catholic bashing, that was it. I gave her up completely!

I have to agree – I saw David Bowie do stuff like this on his "Diamond Dogs" Tour in the mid-70's. Stupid stuff – and the less said about it the better. Every time I hear a conservative talking about how outraged they are by something said by someone on MSNBC or some lib commentator on some other network I cringe – why give these people any publicity at all? Just keep quiet and don't watch it and it will go away.

I have 3 young daughters (14, 12, and 9) and we have watched American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance as something that we can bond over and discuss. We all kind of liked Lambert on Idol just because he had a unique voice and brought something different to the show, so we let the kids stay up with us to watch the end of the AMA's for his performance. I about puked watching that disgusting performance and at the same time my wife and I lunged for the remote to turn the crap off. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Lambert will never see a cent from me or my family and hopefully his career is over before it starts.

I was really happy to read that Queen was considering doing a tour with him. Excellently stated! I watched a bit of AI and didn't care for his style of singing. (Too screamy for me.) But I didn't know at the time that he was gay, nor would I have cared if I had known. But he completely turned me off when he started complaining that people didn't like him for that reason. No, I don't like singers who scream – regardless of what their sexual lives are!
Thankfully I did not watch this awards show. I would've been horrified. What started off as mere dislike has turned into full fledged disgust. by the by–to the one who only got through two whole songs–then how can you describe the content of the rest? My current favo–"Fever". lots of fun and a good beat to walk down the street with the headphones.
If Adam Lambert continues on this destructive offensive personna, without ever thinking that he has an obligation to put his homosexual activism and the gay agenda aside and be more mainstream he will become "Adam Who?" in no time…He had to realize that there were impressionable kids staying up late to watch this show, and his performance was totally inappropriate; absolutely disgusting, offensive and gross. In fact he didn't even sing well…pitchy; and screechy…The song was terrible…If he continues to disregard the majority of the public's opinion with his gay performances, with croch sniffing of fellacio; male kissing, and S & M, he will end up performing in local bathhouses and will end up being a third rate lounge singer in Vegas…I don't care that he is gay, I don't care what he does in the privacy of his bedroom, but on TV? No…totally wrong, and no one can make it right and appropriate…it was morally wrong..He pushed the envelope and he lost…
Actually, Janet Jackson's career has never recovered since that dumb Super Bowl stunt that generated so many complaints.
Lambert looks like he's on the same sad decline that Jackson is.
Country music current outsells rap music because the latter focus too much on sleaze that quality sounds. Why do you think Taylor Swift got so much sympathy when rapper Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech?
So, the backlash against Lambert is part of the bigger rejection of the sleaze and deviant behavior that dominates too much of pop music.
