‘The Onion’ Targets Obama’s Teleprompter Reliance
by Big HollywoodAmazing what you can do with a cup of truth mixed with a dash of exaggeration…. We’ve been pretty hard on “The Onion,” and deservedly so, but some credit is due here for their decision to target an obvious Obama weak spot, his reliance on a teleprompter:
Obama’s Home Teleprompter Malfunctions During Family Dinner
It’s a sad state of affairs when you have to credit satirists for doing what they are supposed to be doing, but as SNL spins the lamest impersonation ever to chastise Obama for not being liberal enough and Bill Maher obsessively pounds out 3,000 words hoping to undo his own status as a punchline after a public meltdown, we’ll take what we can get.

I would be slightly impressed if it were not the overwhelming other articles by the onion, showing their obvious bias. Check out the one about the guy who defends the constitution for what he believes it contains. Cowardly and weak are the only two words I can think of to describe that one.
Their apolitical stuff is pretty funny.
A long time in coming and pretty gentle stuff compared to what was done to Bush.
Pretty good! hehe
Bias or not I still love The Onion. They have plenty of non-politicized content that's funny. Usually you can tell by the headlines whether it's going to be the usual liberal claptrap or something that can be funny without poking at the right.
How dare they satirize the teleprompter. Don't the people at the Onion realize that if world leaders see that we do not respect the teleprompter then they will begin to lose respect for the teleprompter and that will only make it more difficult for the teleprompter so save the world. All hail the wise and glorious teleprompter, for it has led us from the land of prickly bushes to the fabled land of Shangri-La.
Meh….
Everyone pounded on Reagan back in the day:

Joe Biden's arm is not long enough to write all of his gaffs on.
"A long time in coming and pretty gentle stuff compared to what was done to Bush."
Agreed, but at least it's a start.
If the Dear Leader succeeds in ramming through His health care "reform" and "cap and trade" while bowing to foreign rulers, this skit will only be the start. Some of the MSM will go down with the ship for their savior, but as His poll numbers slip the more survival-minded elements of the media will turn on the One.
Still, I don't see them ever using the same venom that was used against W, no matter how much of a disaster the Obama years end up being.
It's a start. I'd like to see some mockery of this dimwit bowing while shaking the hand of Japan's Emperor. What a schmuck; and this international buffoon is our president. Hussein might as well have dropped down on all fours and started kissing and massaging the Emperors feet. Maybe even roll over for a belly scratch. Hussein is nutless embarrassment.
We're a laughingstock.
The skit was not funny, perhaps I'm getting old. At least they were kind not wishing harm to befall the prompter, but why did they not just say it was Bush's fault?
That was funny! I like the part about Obama calling his daughter Jennifer. It's nice to hear something from the media that makes me laugh about this Dear Leader instead of just making me feel nauseated.
Wow, that was stellar! I almost smiled at one point. Now I understand why so many people think so highly of the unique humor of the Onion. If it took the Onion this long to figure out Obama was comically dependent on his teleprompters, we shouldn't expect any jokes about his policies until 2015. Probably even longer on the White House vetting process, which really isn't funny, it's just tragically sad and depressing.
The fact that the Onion is doing anything even mildly critical of Obama is a major shift in the media landscape.
Anyone catch the Jay Leno show the other night.? Jay had a joke where he commented on how Obama's job performance poll numbers were at an all time low, then quiped that that was unfair since "you need to actually do something before they can judge your performance"
That an NBC show would even MENTION Obama's low approval numbers shows a real shift in their normally all-positive coverage of their favorite president.
"At least they were kind not wishing harm to befall the prompter…"
Ah, nicely done Malachi42. I'm sure the teleprompter is a Democrat and a card carrying SEIU Member.
The Onion made fun of Obama? RACIST!!!
A little funny…sometimes.
Sorry, Onion, but you should've done that joke a loooooong time ago.
How close is this to a hate crime?
Well, I guess "better late than never." I'd welcome them to the party but won't hold my breath.
As for the "real" media outlets, you really can't blame them for not being on top of this. Their reporters are all tied up "fact-checking" conservatives. Of course, it should be noted that their idea of "fact-checking" includes making up "facts."
It was funny. It is two-pronged because it makes fun of Obama and his teleprompter crutch as well as making fun of the CNN and other reporters who salivate over the minute details. Well done. I hope to see more.
hope his teleprompter is working well in Asia — wouldn't want him going off script and trying to translate a language that doesn't exist like he did in Europe (how embarrassing!)
I wasn't overly impressed myself. The won has been in in office nearly a year and we get this mild tease. 0 has a cornucopia of material to satirize.
I just realized Barack 0bama is not an alpha male. Michelle is…
Agreed, but at least it's a start.
Exactly.
The whole point of this Big Hollywood is to combat the overwhelming influence of liberal politics in mainstream media entertainment. This is not something that is going to happen overnight. Rather, it is going to have to happen in many little steps.
Enjoy this as one of those steps.
Amazing what you can do with a cup of truth mixed with a dash of exaggeration…
That is the definition of joke.
maybe its a start
dont think these guys have enough ethics to be embarrassed by their lack of integrity, so it looks like obozo is become the butt of more and more Americans and the loons are having to rib him for fun
no, not "not proud of America" michelle – her fashion is to good
just ask hollywood – they will tell you
can you believe the onion as racists?
if it happens again, the obozo brownshirts will be called out
pathetic that the truth about an American president is so damn funny
You'll never see the amount nor the viciousness of the comedy and satire aimed at Obama like was aimed at Bush and Reagan. They still are treating him with kid-gloves.
The sad truth is that The Onion didn't have to exaggerate too much to tell this truth.
TOTUS FOR POTUS 2012. He's smarter than O-BOW-MA the puppet.

Ripping liberals into little shreds.
of course they had to take a dig at Reagan, the real great communicator, to help the liberals sigh with relief.
" He was tremendous at reading teleprompters. I have come out of speeches where he was reading teleprompters and people said, 'My goodness, how did he do that? He memorized that speech perfectly.' The camera was really one of his strong points."
-Lyn Nofziger on Ronald Reagan
They just had to get that dig in at Reagan so they wouldn't be seen as so last year with a dig at Bush. Back to the future.
Some of their stuff is funny and silly. But it's clear they just can't hide the lefty-world in which they all operate. I wonder how much concern they aroused with that biting satire of our Dear Leader….
It is funny and it is their main headline.
Come on guys, enjoy it. They and South Park are the only ones who are going to make any effort to make us laugh for the next three years.
Ripping the Onion for being biased is like ripping SNL's Weekend Update for not being fact-checked. It's satire, get over it. They have plenty of non-political humor which is hysterical, and as Obama screws more things up I'm sure they'll take their fair share of shots at him. The fact that SNL is taking shots at him at all is evidence of the liberals coming to realize what an empty suit he is.
It's a shame The Onion doesn't present a more balanced array of gags on a regular basis because the actors/comedians they have are wicked good at being the TV talking heads we see in real life. The writers also seem to be masters at the jargon of newz.
at least he can read a teleprompter……..
