“Who’d have thought that the heretofore ubermeek Obama administration would attempt the first surge of its tremulous tenure against my Fox News Network? As every demented B-lister in a leopard skin fez and a doorman’s outfit from the Plaza Hotel steps up to the psychotic speaker’s corner to tear the Great Satan (uh, that would be us) a new one, our guy has been loathe to return rhetorical fire for fear of stepping on any sandaled toes.
“But Fox News? That’s another story. That’s a sitter at the net for the quasimystical LOTUS POTUS. With the mainstream (downstream?) media more in his pocket than a grizzled train conductor’s pocket watch, he had to look far and wide for a news organization that had not signed a 5 W’s abrogation/suicide pact with David Axelrod. And there stood Fox, still skeptical of public officials and under the stellar rein of Brit Hume, still skilled in the ways of good old-fashioned “Woodstein” shoe leather journalism.
“As The New York Times scribes stand fawning behind the sawhorses placed beneath Ringo-bama’s top-floor window hoping for some acknowledgment, a glimpse, a smile, a hanky, something, anything!!!!! to drift down from the Great One’s penthouse, Fox continues to grind. As the Secret Service actually contemplates filing a restraining order against some of BO’s more amped-up devotees in the liberal press, Shep, Chris Wallace and the boys loom, eyebrows raised higher than a Rastafarian at a Phish concert.

Good lord Miller! This was a hard read! But funny as usual…Have to disagree with you about the POTUS…NOT a patriot, that would mean he would be looking out for ALL of us…not happening. Unless your one of the Chicago mob that he brought to Washington with him you get nothing but lip service…I love it when you are on O'Reilly!!! YOU are my idea of a patriot!!

Hey Dennis, I don't want to go off on a rant here, but Obama has not been holding up his end of the Constitutional bargain. He swore to uphold it, but the only thing he is upholding is the promises he made to his lefty pals to socialize the country. The American people by and large do not need government to make very decision for us that comes along. He has been orchestrating that and pushing it through as fast as he can. Without ovversight by Repubs or the American people for that matter. He and his ilk have deliberately ast a shroud over everything they do so as not to draw any "prying eyes" who would cast aspersions on The Ones master plan. Thhat is not being the leader of a country, that is running a dictatorship.

I too have a hard time reconciling the actions of the TOTUS, with that of a patriot. Also I agree, that this column was a little tough to read, although I did enjoy it, as I'm always interested in what Miller has to say.

Dennis, I enjoy your segments on Fox. Yes, Obama's our president, but PATRIOT? Nope! That title is EARNED, not a bonus prize, because he won the 2008 election. Where's his support for American exceptionalism in the private or public sector? I don't see it. So far, his statist policies encourage dependency and mediocrity at all levels. President Obama is many things, but, PATRIOT isn't on my list.
I always love reading or listening to Miller. He sometimes catches me off guard which makes me think just a little harder.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who reads him that way. I actually worked with Shep's girlfriend (at the time) when he first started working at Fox. Man, she was awful. He was always a gentleman when I talked to him (over the phone, never met him in person) but I couldn't reconcile such a nice seeming guy being with such a… I can't think of a nice word to describe her. I've come to conclusion that he has his "public" face. The likable one. I'm not real sure what the private face is like. But there are glimpses now and then of a closet liberal (I remember the Katrina moment JamesB is referring to and a few global warming references). I'm guessing the paycheck at Fox is really, really good.

I had a hard time reading it too. I think Dennis Miller is better when his is ranting but it's hard to read that. It doesn't come through the same in print.
But he's funny as hell and I enjoy him thoroughly and I'm so glad Dennis and many like him have opened their eyes to see the real world.

No offense, Mr. Miller, you're a great guy, but you might be giving Fox News a little more credit than they deserve. The thing is, it's like the way CNN and MSNBC treated the Bush administration, only now it's in reverse. By all means, CNN and MSNBC are still not nearly as impartial as they are cracked up to be (Isn't that right, Olberfuher?) but in the process, Fox has gone from a once reputable network to, basically, the thorn in the Bush administration's side only now it's President Obama's thorn on his side. See, you'll only find out this stuff on the Phil Hendrie Show. You're a good guy, Mr. Miller, but Phil Hendrie's better. Still, I do like the "Shoot the Antenna" bit.

Dennis Miller lives in both worlds he has to live with the fact that most of his so-called friends out in Holly-Weird do not like him anymore because he speaks his mine on FoxNews, and that makes them mad as hell. But one thing that I will say about Dennis, and that is he has always spoke his mind, and that is what is good about him. He-like Bill O'reilly are not conservatives in any way shape, or form, but that said we as a people in a free society still need both of these men to speak there minds and to be able to form "OUR" own opinions about what we as fiscal-conservatives feel is the right way to feel. Dennis loves freedom, and liberty that is what I care most about him, and he is associated with the military in that way I respect him for his work with Americorps. May God Bless him for his service with that organization.

Adam, I noticed this too. Bill O'Reilly for ratings I'm sure is moving his thought processes to the left. I'm waiting for Miller and/or Ingraham to go off on him but…….it is his show and I’m slowly but surely reversing orbit with him.
I know O'Reilly would embrace this post because he wants more independent viewers but this is a slippery slope. To vest in historical ratings is folly and he more than most understands this. Don’t try to fix something that’s not broken.

Miller on the other hand is a Classic. I couldn’t stand him on SNL but has now morphed into one of the most articulate and intelligent prognosticators on the tube. I understand him fluently and he’s hysterical all the while delivering the informational content. If he could stretch out exactly what he does in O’Reilly’s segment to a half hour, he would be at the head of the class.
I began watching FOX intently when the Democrats headed up by Edwards, no pun intended, boycotted FOX for the campaign debates. I had to see what the “hair” found so obtuse and yes O’Reilly, the word has been in my vocabulary since oh second grade maybe? A lot happens in a couple of years. The American people shed Edwards like a leaking diaper where he could be embarrassingly seen but never ever heard from again.

The most salient point in the war between the administration and Fox News Channel is that the things the administration admits to being the most upset about are the things that are undeniably factually accurate that you get out of Fox News and no one else.
I read complaint after complaint from administration talkers. Apparently just this weekend, someone said that Fox couldn't be taken seriously if they were going to report things like that the Obama health care plan and Cap and Trade are going to cost as much as they are. And these complaints, in which Fox is accused of reporting on things that no one disputes are true, are the norm and not the exception.
Compare that to the treatment the Bush administration got from the press. One main stream network that everyone has heard of not only reported false information about Bush's national guard service, they actually put forth quite obviously fabricated documents as evidence. I'd be willing to bet money that a majority of Americans, to this very day, actually believe that there were no WMDs in Iraq on the day in 2003 that we launched our invasion.
Could you imagine the outrage if Bush had responded to CBS, who reported FALSE information about him, in the same way that Obama has responded to FNS for reporting factually?
