The Bill Maher Meltdown
by Big Hollywood
–
We’ll let others debate the medical aspects of this, but Maher’s obviously not used to not being adored by the New York Times or leftist guests like Alec Baldwin and Chris Matthews, and seeing the smug/cocky knocked out him as he plays defense, rambling on as his guests squirm uncomfortably makes for an interesting five minutes.
Who’s the punchline now?
Mediaite has more.

It is not suprising and ,I think, well established, that this guy is a LOON!
expose the POS for what he is – a rhetorical bomb thrower, a one trick gelded pony.
has he beaten his current girlfriend lately?
beaten up any other young black women? he's a sick freak.
How can it be that the Socialist Maher is having a Libertarian thought?
He's as intellectually stimulating as a deep-fried Twinkie at the state fair.
"Let's have a debate" Funny coming from a guy who surrounds himself with democrats. Is Hypocrysy an airborne disease?
I live in L.A. (and yes, work in The Industry too). What you can always count on from the 5ft 7in mental midget known as Bill Maher is that it's a wonder he can breathe with his head so far up Hugh Hefner's colon (his formerly conjoined twin).
Maher's politics are really just Whorehouse Liberalism – but obviously beady-eyed Bill still has trouble finding women who think he's sexy on his own merits; whenever Clooney steps out with his latest model galpal, his gal doesn't take her eyes off Clooney. Whenever Maher walks out with a hot date, she can't keep her eyes off the paparazzi shooting her photo.
so wait sex with an intern is suddenly bad? What a difference a decade makes.
Global warming is a "settled science"?
Typical lib—pick and choose your scientific beliefs.
In addition—I don't think your nutritional program is working very well—you still look dead.
Maher, Baldwin, and Matthews…reminded me of the Three Stooges. Sigh….where's an earthquake when you need one?
Wonder if Matthews was thinking, "do I sound that ridiculous when I blather my liberalistic nonsense" (Note to Mr Matthews: Yes).
Maher, Baldwin, and Matthews…reminded me of the Three Stooges. Sigh….where's an earthquake when you need one?
Wonder if Matthews was thinking, "do I sound that ridiculous when I blather my liberalistic nonsense" (Clue for Mr Matthews: Yes).
Mark the date! I agree with Bill Maher! Now, if only he would take his own words about having debate when it comes to global warming (or is it climate change now?) and evolution. But those two subjects are important underpinnings of liberal religion.
What a moron. Young children with secondary bacterial infections or asthma as well a pregnant women are the two biggest groups at risk of swine flu mortality and this thoughtless ill-informed fool prattles on.
Maher is so typical of the pseudo-edgy narcissistic blather that liberals lap up. More pathetic is the audience that actually claps their hands for him, Whoopie "I know it wasn't rape-rape" and that smarmy Dirty Old Man, David Letterman. They are a category of Americans that I hold in contempt.
he had to say that since he just invoked the settled debate cliche.
when Matthews and Baldwin make you look like an idiot….
Yeah, he looks SO healthy- like a walking, talking jackass (though that may explain why he sounds like a flaming douche 97% of the time)!
Amazing. This is the same tool who was just singing the praises of the Chinese, saying that "health care reform" should be shoved down our throat. Now all of a sudden he is in favor of debate. Perhaps the mercury in his teeth explains the brain damage.
The NYT think he's crazy! Enough said…
Bill Maher?
I watched the vid. I see Larry, Moe and Curly, being lectured by Shemp. I couldn't see under the desk to see if Janeane Garafalo was slithering under the desk picking up dust bunnies.
ha ha ha ha… and what the left doesn't realize is Maher is their version of Limbaugh… I know a couple of people that take him at his very word…
Who are all these speds who keep applauding/cheering EVERYTHING this toolbox says?
And just as likely to induce a stroke.
What Gov Omalley neglected to mention is a few of the states in our union are trying to make the H1N1 (Mexican) Influenza vaccine mandatory, or you get tossed in the clink and fined a grand a day. Land of the free indeed.
And Chris Mathews thinks that it's the third world countries REQUIRING Americans to get shots before entry. What a moron!
Good lord, I actually half-agree with something BM said. The world has stopped rotating.
If advocating a healthy diet and questioning the profit motives of drug companies makes you "crazy," then put me in a straightjacket. Maher may not be right about every issue, but his advocacy for debate on this issue is well-founded. The drug companies are marketing fear in an effort to reap HUGE profits, where very few people would actually medically benefit from this vaccine. Remember SARS? Avian Bird Flu? Nothing shifts units and gets the people in line like a good health scare.

Sorry, I cant sit through 5+ minutes of Maher, Matthews and Baldwin.
Most telling quote of the night: "But it isn't settled science, like Global Warming is".
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that.
Nice panel! 3 diehard liberals. I agree with Maher on the vaccination, but not on any other point he was trying make.
Global warming is settled science?!?!? Bill, Bill, Bill.
It's the utter hypocricy of comparing and contrasting to the "settled science" of Gorebal Bloviating, errrr Climate Change.
Glabal warming and swine flu are both hysterical reactions to unsubstantiated propaganda. Only the bed wetters and socialists back these things. If you catch any flew you should do 3 things.
1. Stay hydrated.
2. Control the fever with ibuprofine.
3. Take decongestents during the day and antihystamines at night to make sure your lungs don't fill with fluid.
Any "healthy" person who does this will not die. But people are stupid and easily panicked. Its all hysteria.
When your sheer lunacy causes Alec Baldwin to make an appeal for reason you have officially gone over the edge.
I busted when Maher said about H1N1 that 'this is not *settled* science, like global warming'. He's hilarious, I swear. actually had to tweet that.
If anyone's interested tho, I think I may actually dislike that has-been in the middle even more than Matthews. Why anyone cares what he has to say is just beyond me.
Alex is pissed and Old Bill will get his miniture ass kicked by one of Mr. Baldwin midget friends, and there are plenty of them in Pt. Dume.
The hypocrisy of the left is so alive and well in Bill Maher. First off, I have never received a flu vaccine and I don't intend to this time. But that is my personal decision. I would never tell people as BM did on Twitter "people who get flu shots are idiots." Then in another interview he says we are stupid and need to be dragged to government-run healthcare. But then in his interview with Dr. Frist he says: "Why would you let them be the ones to stick a disease into your arm? I would never get a swine flu vaccine or any vaccine. I don’t trust the government, especially with my health." WTF? Then he says we should have debates on science, but then gives parameters on what we can debate. No debate on global warming or evolution. I happen to believe evolutuion is true, but what is wrong with debate? It doesn't change my position as I have not seen legitimate evidence to change my mind. On the other hand, there is so much evidence out there to discredit man-made global warming, I can't even see how one could continue to support it as a done deal. This man is psycho and dangerous.
Global Warming is settled science? I guess Bill mahar thinks scientific conclusions are based on the sheer amount of BS the press prints about an issue.
newt or clinton
He's a LIBERAL! Enough said!

The Anti Liberal Zone
Well, so what. He may or may not be right on that issue, but that wasn't the main point of the discussion. That's an entirely different debate altogether. As far as the vaccinations go, it's hard to argue that he doesn't have a point, love him or hate him.
"Gorebal Bloviating" …….. That's a pretty funny one, by the way…..
Hah….. I like how your group calls itself "non-partisan." Exactly what is the ratio of Democrats to Republicans in this "oath-keepers" organization? Yeah. Thought so.
Pick a Politician…any one will do…
Awwww, Bill getting exposed for the charlatan hack he is. He's a comedian with an English degree who thinks he's a theologian and a scientist on his show.
Now go on and make another dick joke, Billy, to cover the fact that you have nothing worthwhile to say.
hehehehehe
BM works on so many levels….
He already got his ass kicked by Ann Coulter in March. Maher's has nothing but jokes and piss-poor rhetoric.
He already got his ass kicked by Ann Coulter in March. Maher's got nothing but jokes and piss-poor rhetoric.
Oh, but wait, I thought because we're stupid we should be forced into health-care reform. That's right, I forgot, Bill Maher is so much more smarticle than mee's. I'd buy the drugs if he promised to overdose, prick.
Alec Baldwin pretending to be intently listening and eventually got bored with it. He has nothing to contribute but to look cute.
Bill is not a loon. Google "60 minutes 1976 Swine Flu " for the documentary the Swine Flu Salesmen don't want you to see.
Keep drinking the KoolAid kids. hahahaha.
You might as well laugh. When idiots like Maher say anything, it's hard enough to keep a straight face….
Notice how Maher calls for debate, cuts off debate, claims to know everything, and rapidly moves to defend his fragile ego when confronted, then claims he is not crazy while demonstrating his craziness. And people take this guy seriously? BTW, no self-respecting intern would even work on his show, much less . . .
You know, out in Nevada there's a place called Battle Mountain, and for their local high school or college or whatever, they have a big BM painted on the side of the mountain. Every time we drive through Nevada, we all snicker. It's juvenile, but we don't care. Who paints that on the side of a mountain?
yeah right?? When Alec "You selfish little pig" Baldwin comes off as the reasonable person in the exchange, it's time to rethink your life….
Bill Maher sleeps with hookers and has lip herpies. Both of those statements are true. Bill admits to liking hookers and buying them and was photographed without make up on showing his nasty lips.
I was out of the country for both Newt and OJ, so I tend to forget they happend.
but I thought it was ok all those years ago, what changed?
that seems contradictory to me, but I'm not as intellectual as Mr. Maher or his associates.
Right?? Don't they have at least one guy that raises his hand says BM stands for something else??
that what i was thinking- at the 3:45 mark he says, "It's not settled science like global warming…" but is challenging the value of vaccines? what an idiot, and not a particularly useful one at that…
While I am not defending drug companies and their too aggressive business model, I AM sure that the stratospherically high death rates in Argentina would have been lower had the vaccine been available to poor people.
Mahrer is a comedian in his own mind. An intellectual he is not. Spewing about HIS own bias may let LIBERALS not get the vaccine and thus get ill or die from the h1n1 virus.hmmmmm
excellent point. he wants to force the whole govt health scam on us, but reserve the right (for himself) to object to little bits of it here and there. sorry, billy boy, but it wouldn't quite work that way…
It is settled. THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING.
Using the "settled science" analogy with vacinations and global warming is like comparing gravity with life on Mars. What a dope.
"Chicken Littles" like Bill Maher are the main reason I cancelled HBO a couple of years ago. This "sky is falling" mentality is getting old & tired.
I haven't had a flu shot in over fifteen years. The last time I got one I developed a fever within 24 hours and spent the rest of the weekend…..well….indisposed. If I do get the flu, my body fights it off because I haven't had a serious illness since I stopped getting the shots. It's not for everyone, but I think we are over vaccinated and if you take care of yourself and are generally healthy, you should just get the necessary vaccines. I'm not sure if the H1N1 is necessary or not, but I think we should all be a little skeptical of drugs that get rushed to the market to fight a flu that is killing about 1/10th the number of people of the regular yearly flu.
That said, Maher is a tool and when I have those instances where I agree with him occasionally I have to quickly take a shower. The man defines smug and elitist.
Bill Maher typifies Churchill's observation that "A fanatic is someone who can't change their mind and won't change the subject." And for Maher that subject is his own person and his amazing list of prejudices. Our local U.S. congressional representative, Marcy Kaptur, was on his show recently and sat there like a smiling piece of furniture while Maher, Garafalo and a couple of other like-minded dimwits went into their usual diatribes comparing conservatives, tea party attendees and Republicans to racists, killers and hate-mongers. Kaptur is a labor Democrat and in the pocket of the UAW but she couldn't work up even a mild comment about "civility" in public debate during this freak show. And she's a good representative of the Democratic leadership in the House.
Ahhh…. give Baldwin some credit. He can be pretty funny at times. Yeah, the thing is, even though I'm a proud lefty, the global warming debate (if we can call it that) totally misses the point. Gore is full of you-know-what, in my opinion…. an opinion that raises the ire of most of my lib friends. Of course we can't conclusively know the exact effect we are having on the global climate, because our global climate is not some static, finite thing. Maybe we are, maybe we aren't. But here are the things we DO know. We DO know that pollution is bad for us. We DO know that oil is not going to last forever. And we DO know that maintaining our supply of oil imports requires an awful lot of dirty work that could be largely eliminated if we would turn to more renewable or U.S. made sources. THAT'S what we should be focusing on….. not theorizing about something that may or may not be true.
I never thought I'd see myself type this but… I agree with Maher on this one.
I was NEVER one to give up my natural impulse to question, and seek alternatives simply because some guy in a white lab coat tells me I need something.
Not only do I NOT check my brains at the door of my church, I don't check them at the door of my doctor either.
One last thought… I had been suffering from sinus infections for the last few years, and every time I get them I would be prescribed antibiotics which made me feel lousy. last time I got an infection I was determined to find another cure. 5 minutes on the web led me to a netti pot. …The next day I bought one for six bucks, and with water and a little salt, my sinus infection was GONE.
No. Western medicine does not know everything.
Kudos, Maher.
I agree with everything you just said, including Baldwin being funny. The guy is hilarious….
As soon as he learns that Obama and his goons will MANDATE flu shots as part of Obama's government controlled health care, Maher will quickly fall in line and get his shot.
"Global Warming" is a settled science?
Do you mean the Obama government-controlled healthcare that he refuses to fight for? Mark my words, there ain't gonna be a public option. The Dems are too weak-kneed and corporate-owned to make it happen. We're going to get a watered-down bill that will make us all worse off in the long run. And that should be your (Republican) ticket to regaining control of the house and the senate, should you take advantage of their failures.
its not settled science like global warming…hahahahaha….one thing is for sure, Maher is a windbag spewing little fact and alot of venom
When a total a****** like Bill Maher can rise to celeberityhood, it only shows to the rest of
America and the world how pathetically shallow the Hollywood talent pool really is.
Ah, for the days of Dick Cavett and Mort Sahl…
JIM WHITTAKER, Hemet, CA
Maybe it's a laugh track or they could be laughing at him, not with him
Healthy diet doesn't stop you from getting the flu. What an idiot. Remember Mahr said the 911 terrorists were heroes.

I never thought I liked Bill Maher, and then he started to catch on about the lack of credibility our President has created for himself. While I disagree with his references to global warming I am fully supportive of the idea that you can help your body be healthy, and that there are things out there which can and should be vigorously debated instead of used as scare tactics.
Yes there is hypocrisy there. The whole intern business, that is not something that anyone on the Left should use as a badge of honor after the shameful way they defended Pres. Bill Clinton. But hey, if Bill Maher can get the WH to actually debate ANY issue in public, I can support him on that endeavor.
I think I am with Bob on this one. I think Maher is far less of a loon than most liberals. He is developing a rep in the ignorant mainstream as a loon because gets it from both sides: he is willing to be fair and balanced (sometimes) so he gets if from the left; his own values are extremely liberal so he gets it from the right. If we are going to call him a loon, I think it should be when he is making statements, versus when he is asking questions. I choose not to take the swine flu vaccine because 1) it is new 2) it has been created in reaction to hysteria. That is my choice. I have no reason to believe that it is harmful, but I have done enough product liability litigation to know that useless, and even harmful medicines get marketed every day. I do not think I will criticize Maher for wanting to ask a few questions, but he should also ask a few more about the climate change hoax he believes in.
Um…there's no such thing as settled science. Science is always growing and changing. Even if a theory is – like evolution – "settled" in that most scientists agree that it accurately describes a phenomenon, there are still details to be learned. It's dangerous to think we understand any phenomenon well enough to call our understanding "settled." Say it's the best explanation available or it fits what we know or there's a high degree of probability or it's safe to proceed based on it. Don't say it's "settled. That sounds like "no more questions required, nothing to see here, folks, move along." And THAT sounds like somebody's hiding something…
Why would anyone care what a two-bit half a**ed supposed comedian thinks? I'd rather ask my rose bush for it's opinion before I'd ask this dummy.
He did not think that. Liberals – especially celebrity liberals – are notorious tone-deaf. They do NOT know how their statements sound to ordinary people. I don't think they care, either. But they never fail to be shocked when somebody tells them they sound ridiculous.
Weird world we live in. The guy attracts and audience which APPLAUDED Osama Bin Laden's pre-2004 election video/speech (his best response was "well, Hitler was a vegetarian) and it goes under the proverbial radar while it takes commentary on vaccinations to bring his brand of narcissism & smug buffoonery to the forefront. Go figure.
You both make good points. I think the millennialist rhetoric surrounding the global warming discussion has done the environmentalist cause more harm than good. If they would just stick to andrea's basic facts about pollution, oil, etc., they'd have a lot more credibility. But Gore and his followers appear to be trying to stampede us into a lot of measures that either won't do any good or that we can't afford – at least if done at the urgent pace these people insist on – all the name of "doing something."
I think liberals (no offense, andrea) tend to be charmed, motivated, excited by the idea of "mass movements." They want global warming to be a Cause, just like civil rights and the anti-war thing. Cautious, incremental change is not for them. So you get people like Gore rabble-rousing, reducing complex information to information that's just complex enough to flatter the audience's intellectual pretensions but still simple enough to turn into exciting slogans. I've heard all the info Gore has to offer. Now I'm interested in what he's leaving out.
Besides, I didn't think the climate was supposed to stay the same anyway.
I'm not a racist, BUT…oops; turns out I really AM one because I won't marry interracial couples (& now my career is in the shitter)- my bad…
How about this: I've been given vaccines all my life and as far as I know they haven't done me any harm. On the other hand, they seem to have kept me from getting diseases as intended. Therefore, I trust that a Swine Flu shot will probably not turn me into a zombie or anything. I realize it's possible that this particular type of flu shot might be completely unlike all the other vaccinations I've had before, or that the particular batch my injection comes from might be tainted, or that my shot might be part of a conspiracy by Big Pharma to make me sick so I'll have to buy more drugs from them. But based on past experience, I'd say the odds are that a Swine Flu shot will do me very little harm – and might actually keep me from getting Swine Flu. So if I have to trust myself or Bill Maher…I prefer to trust myself.
Caveat: I agree that Maher is a political moonbat.
However, he is right in that vaccine science is not settled.
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP) wasn't created frivolously.
http://www.hrsa.gov/Vaccinecompensation/statistic...
Vaccination is, as Maher says, a medical procedure that injects directly into the bloodstream both organic and chemical compounds; thereby circumventing the body's outer defenses (e.g., mucus membranes) and triggers.
The precipitous rise in vaccine administrations and multiple (trivalent/hexavalent) "booster" doses, especially among the very young, has caused severe adverse reactions ranging from high fevers to seizures, autism (vigorously disputed) and death.
Too many shots are given to too young children. For example, why give a Hepatitis B shot to a newborn whose mother is HepB negative? HepB is a blood-born pathogen, so any newborn is at zero risk of contraction (provided the mother is negative). Therefore, why require the shot on day one?
Vaccine injuries do in fact occur.
Maher's underlying point (with which i agree) is that parents (and potential flu shot patients) should have access to comprehensive informed consent from their healthcare providers prior to any inoculation.

Exit question: Why is Maher so afraid of balancing his panels?
Bill Maher is not funny, hes stupid. I watch his show from time to time just to see him bitched slapped by his guest. I wonder who he is blowing to stay on TV?
My experience with vaccinations is exactly the opposite of yours – no side effects whatsoever. I think you're exactly right: It's not for everyone. You have to judge by your own reactions whether a vaccination is worth the risk to your current state of health. There are some diseases for which I would advocate mandatory vaccinations – the obvious ones like smallpox, TB, rubella, polio, etc. These are definite public health menaces that have killed millions of people and cost millions of dollars to treat. And vaccination (along with hygeinic measures) has nearly eradicated them in the developed world. Maybe that's been worth the cost of some people's bad reactions. But flu vaccination? Not so much.
Rows – he had John Bolton (former Bush Ambassador to the UN) on about one onth ago. It was/is worth viewing, as Bolton wouldn't back down and Maher looked like the gelding he is when dealing with a panelist with a brain.
Three of the four panelists deserve a good brush up with tar and feathers. I have no beef against the Md Governor.
Bill Maher's ego is so totally out of control that he now feels he is smarter than the years of experience accumulated by thousands of physicians. Spare us, Bill.
Baldwin is a child abuser. Only murder is worse.
This is the first 5 minutes of my ever seeing Chris Matthews. Perhaps someone who loves him can explain that the passport shots are not dictated by the country being visited. The shots prevent you from bringing the diseases home as well as keeping the tourist healthy. Perhaps those leg thrills erased part of his memory. I've never seen a person act this stupid on TV.
Nope! The weather on Earth varies, THAT is a scientific fact.
But for Matthews making a fool of himself, I might not have made it to the end.
questioning the profit motives of drug companies
Who pays your bills? Do you work pro bono? If druggists must forsake profit, shouldn't you?
Grow the *explitive* up!
Anyone remember ENRON? C&T was their gateway to the promised land.
Sarah, I'm pretty sure they get painters from people caught snickering at their sign. Be careful!
Just let me know when the vaccine for liberalism is discovered…I've already filled out the nomination forms for the Nobel prize…just need a name.
Bill Maher is just a know-it-all blowhard with the tongue of a viper.
Why do his words carry any weight at all ?
I'm finding myself agreeing with him. I don't believe in flu vaccines. It is a cost-benefit analysis. There are well-documented possible side-effects for most vaccinations. Heck, even tetanus shots come with disclaimers, up to and including "you may die."
It's perfectly rational, and not moonbatty at all to want to have a dialogue about vaccinations. Kudos to Maher. It's a shame that the other 99.99(repeating)% of what he says is tripe.
I used to watch Chris Matthews back when I was drinking Kool-Aid. I remember the time he went on vacation to Africa, I believe. Anyway, to a third world country. He contracted what they later said was malaria. He was very ill for a long time. Maybe that is what happened to Chris…
[...] Big Hollywood has the video of Bill Maher’s recent meltdown cause his card carrying liberal friends are buying his concerns about the H1N1 vaccine. Why is it the Left hasn’t yet learned that THEY EAT THEIR OWN!!!!!! Walk in lockstep or walk the plank. [...]
I think he was referring to Letterman….not a particularly elevating comparison. And besides, Mr. Maher, you are probably lying.
