So man, do I find myself pissed off that Rush Limbaugh had to be dropped from the group that's bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams. I'm upset mainly because it's an attack on capitalism from the usual gang of idiots from the left. Here's a guy with money to spend on a product and immediately he's jumped from all sides SOLELY because he's right-wing. If George Soros offered to buy an NFL team, you think the media would be making up quotes about Nazi involvement?
Wow! Great photo! Ingrid is glowing!
Most today will know her from CASABLANCA, but in 1944 she did the magnificent GASLIGHT with Boyer and Cotten. Her speech at the end of the film is a roller-coaster ride of high, furious emotion:
"If I were not mad, I could have helped you. Whatever you had done, I could have pitied and protected you. But because I am mad, I hate you. Because I am mad, I have betrayed you. And because I'm mad, I'm rejoicing in my heart, without a shred of pity, without a shred of regret, watching you go with glory in my heart!"
Ingrid Bergman was a classic beauty in the best tradition. My guess is she would not have cared whether Rush was part of a group of prospective buyers of the Rams
I find myself wondering if the best move for Rush and conservatives wouldn't be a boycott of the NFL — the games and licensed material.
Hmmmm, Rush, as a minority partner in a group of investors, wants to buy the hapless Rams. Providing employment for scores of people no doubt. And keeping the tax base for the St Louis area intact and growing, if they actually can turn the team around.
So this is bad why? Because Rush accused "the press" of giving Donovan McNabb a pass on a crappy effort one year.
What it is, is demonstrative of what is going on right now. Hatred of excellence in execution, hatred of those who have stated their beliefs, and have been successful because of it.
It's not surprising, and I daresay expected.
More puppets mouthing the company line, and by "company" I mean the liberal agenda.
Therefore I call for the immediate Government takeover of the Saint Louis Rams, and we will have a public example of the fine job the Government does interfering in areas that they know nothing about. How long do you think it will take the Rams to become Super Bowl contenders? Or do you think that they will continue to scrape the bottom of the rankings? I know where my money would be bet.
i don't spend much if any money on sports, so I don't really have a dog in this fight. but that seems excessive. It was a stupid controversy to begin with.
if you and a million of your closest friends write letters that is probably sufficient.
It was leaked out. Rush had kept quiet about it, until asked directly.
still it is a stupid controversy
It is obvious that someone from that group that Checketts group leaked it. Who did it is the question now on my mind.
so when will all the right wing owners start talking about him not getting the super secret handshake that will let him into the cool kids club?
You got me. What is interesting is that there is a whole group of people who hate Rush so much that they are willing to put themselves on record with libel and slander. Rush has a possibility of suing MSNBC, ESPN and others for real damages.
He could end up controlling a portion of MSM.
I don't think an NFL boycott by conservatives would ever amount to much. Too many people pursuing their own selfish interests will keep supporting the NFL because watching TV and drinking beer is 'their thing' and nobody is going to stop them.
Those people can't see any farther than the end of their nose. Look at how many people swallow Entertainment Tonight drivel, and pitch a fit when they can't watch it. Same mindset. No willingness to sacrifice for principles other than things for their own good and pleasure. And the situation just keeps getting worse.
We need a vaccine for selfishness more than for the hyped-up flu crisis.
mmm, mmm, mmm…….That's the American way, untill it cuts into your TV time it won't pass muster…..mmm, mmm, mmm.
Since this is an open thread, I would like to thank Andrew Breitbart and all that work so hard on these websites. Thank you for helping us stay informed and for giving us a forum to express our views. It really helps to interact with people who have like-minded views. THANK YOU!

Obama: I Don't Deserve The Nobel Fleece Prize
I give a few reasons why using some of his own words and deeds.
I try to be humorous as usual.
Obama: I Don't Deserve The Nobel Fleece Prize
Fixed?
That would be FANTASTIC! If I were Rush I'd do it on principal alone…Of course I'd like the extra moohlah also.
I agree Buck, it really shouldn't have been an issue at all.
lol..I liked your vid Shuga..I also like your screen name here. I especially liked the cartoon about which one obama wont meet with, I guess we all know who scares obama.
His own co-investors dropped Rush, so it's his fellow rich dudes who lacked the stones to continue. They could have brazened it out until the faux furor died down. I'm quite sure most of the NFL owners, rich dudes all, don't disagree with Rush on much. If there's anything more gorgeously capitalistic than the NFL I don't know what is. (Just don't make my city float any bonds to build new stadiums!) I don't think it would have mattered much that he bought a crappy team. And I think an NFL boycott won't work anymore than the attempted 'boycott' of Whole Foods after some people were angry the founder disagreed with health care reform. It'll last 10 minutes and accomplish nada. We need football just as we need organic produce and hormone-free milk! ;-D

Remember all those turgidly sanctimonious "Hate is not a Family Value" bumper stickers that sprouted during the Bush years? I noticed they have pretty much all disappeared in the last nine months. I suspect it's because the Left realizes (on some subliminal level) that they are all for "hate" as a motivating tactic. Nobody is more hate-worthy than Limbaugh who has been elevated into a Goldstein-like figure (along with George W. Bush) responsible for all the world's ills. {Ouch – My piles are killing me. Damn that Rush Limbuagh."] I'm nor surprised by the manufactured furor over Rush's involvement in a group to buy the Rams. There would be a manufactured "national movement" to boycott Wrigley's if he was seen buying a pack of gum.
I'm pretty sure Rush won't join in on an NFL boycott. He's not a petty guy.
As for my Ingrid Bergman top five films:
1) Casablanca (obviously)
2) Notorious (I believe John Nolte's favorite Hitchcock)
3) Murder on the Orient Express
4) Spellbound (Hitch again)
5) Gaslight (Sorry Bells of St. Mary's fans, just isn't room in the top five)
That's just what the Left wants. One more Great American Tradition circling the bowl.
the Goldstein reference is a good one.
Goldstein's book was nothing more than a description of the party philosophies and it was supposed to be the ultimate evil from the ultimate villian
For Whom the Bell Tolls and Casablanca have forever etched IB in my mind.
As for Rush, if I were an owner I would be hesitant about letting him in to the league as well, not because he is conservative, but because he has a 20 million strong audience, a history of causing controversy, and we are coming up on collective bargaining soon. Nothing personal against Rush who is a legend in his field, but NFL ownership is for people who are predictable and safe and who won't scare the other owners who are very protective of their product.
The slander and the comments by congressmen on the floor of the house were beyond petty and immoral; also MSNBC needs to be held to account for some of the slander they have put forward.
What a wonderful thing it would be if Rush & Co. bought NBC Universal. They won't allow him to pursue his passion & happiness, so he should counterpoise with vengeance and misery. It would be a milestone day when MSNBC turns into the 3 stooges channel. "Hey Moe… isn't that Kieth Olbermann cleaning the toilets? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk." At least that's a programming concept I can embrace.

One more reason why I'm glad I'm a fan of baseball and the Angels.
Well, Rush now has clearly identified damages inflicted on him by those in the media that slandered and libeled him. Hope they lawyer up quick because Rush should "Cry Havoc! And let loose the Dogs of War" on their collective behinds. He now has 100 million freed up to pursue some justice in the courts.
I think the flood of libel judgments will serve nicely as a consolation prize for Mr. Limbaugh. I see no need to get involved in what is arguably a private dispute.
Does anyone know if he is going to start the lawsuits?
Ingrid Bergman had a unique 'look' to go with her talent. No actress has copied either successfully.
'Gasllight' and 'Notorious', two of my Bergman favorites.
I wouldn't call it an attack on capitalism. There's more at work here. It's the left's monolithic desire to capture and hold all aspects of pop culture. They want to hear no dissent, from any one, any where, any time ever.
I like the way he's handling it right now. Telling the truth. Going after the reputations of those who lied about him. And blaring it across the fruited plane, 3 hours a day!
I'm listening to him now, and I don't think he's ruling anything out. And he's doing it the smart way, don't tell your enemies your battle plans. Broad side them instead.
I get the feeling his real targets are going to be the media that re-printed lies, Jackson and Sharpton and that ilk.
huh?
I believe it's a '1984' reference. 'Goldstein' was the state boogeyman, who represented everything Big Brother opposed, and if I remember correctly, he didn't even exist.
i'm re-reading it now (i do about once every ouple of years)
he existed at one point but very well may have been "unpersoned"
he was basically a party founder who fell out of favor of Big Brother. In his case he was turned in to the scapegoat for every bad thing.
of course all the party founders were disfellowshipped.
Interestingly it is big brother who may never have existed and he is the central power.
Here's to looking at you kid.
She had me at Casablanca.
I'm wondering if Rush didn't know full well from the get-go that there'd be controversy. All it does is increase his ratings, and while everyone's arguing over locking him out of the bidding, he's laughing it up all the way from EIB to the bank.
That smile.
He should go after MSNBC specifically, just for the thrill of shutting all three of those primetime twits down–or at least making them modify their rhetoric. You guess which three–I don't want to ruin the pleasant day I'm having by saying their names.
You know, I have to say that this might be the one time where government interference wouldn't screw everything up. Not because of any ability on their part, simply because the Rams are so terrible right now it's almost impossible to imagine them getting any worse. I used to be a tenuous fan (simply by proximity) but haven't been in years.
I don't remember enough of many of Ingrid's movies to really rate them since It has been many years since I saw them, except for the incomparable Casablanca. I only know the ones that I could never forget – the movies that left a deep impression that time has not been able to erase: The Inn of the Sixth Happiness; The Bells of st Mary's. For all the others, I want to see them again. I loved the women of Ingrid Bergman.
racial terrorism against Rush, by black "race pimps" like Jesse "shakedown artist" Jackson and the "Rev. Al "Pimp" Sharpton.
Of course the average NFL player probably doesn't give a damn, they want to play ball and get PAID!
true, and I hope someone finally exposes those cheap pimps for what they are, oppressors of the people the purport to help, instead they "help" themselves.
it is so inconsequential who the owner is that this should have been laughed off, but instead they make it a reall issue by booting Rush out of the group.
Silly really.
They have been exposed, countless times in the past, and they will countless times in the future, but it doesn't matter to the left.
It seems people on the right don't seem to quite grasp this point, and its understandable why, because it's totally illogical. People on the left don't care about things like that when it's other lefties doing it.
Remember how Obama campaigned on his being the next incarnation of Reagan? Tax cuts, moderation, fiscal conservatism, balanced budgets?
Do you think lefties who voted for him believed for a second he was telling the truth? Of course not. If they did, the far left would have abandoned him in Iowa.
They know they're being lied to, and they just don't care. That's why support for Polanski didn't surprise me in the least. Just like Edwards cheating his dying wife. Spitzer cheating on his wife. Barney Frank's boy friend running a male prostitution ring out of their town house.
They just don't care.
yeah dropping him is a chicken sh1t move. they had to know that having him involved would bring controversy, so why the need to drop him? I think the problem was Rush bringing it up. he should have kept it closer to the vest, but that is just not the Rush way.
it makes them look weak by caving in to the same people that the right seems to ask us to stand up to. lame.
Oddly enough, George Soros is part of the group to buy the Rams. Checketts group!!!
Check that reference, I think Rush accused the press of creating unrealiscic pressure on McNabb because they wanted a black quarterback to succeed.
Angela Lansbury was marvelous as well not to mention quite lovely. A dear relative would claim anytime her husband was mad at her he would give her 'the Gaslight treatment'…
Fortunately they were kidding. We think…
Aha! Well, at least I had the right novel! It's been a looong time since I re-read it. I start, and it gets just too crushingly depressing.
yeah i had one of those "educations" where i didn't have to read all the books the rest of you did. so i read them now.
public school, pssshhhtt
Putin’s bluffing, re Iranian nukes- he doesn’t want a nuclear ME any more than we do.
But, Vlad’s wisely working the Boy Wonder like a poker player. He knows the Israelis will bomb Iran back to the Stone Age… so the Kremilin is just milking all sides for all they can get before leaving Tehran to fend for themselves-
And he’ll be wringing Obama for plenty more concessions along the way… these KGB guys know a mark when they see one.
God Help Us until 2012…

Agreed, I certainly like it.
Props to the guys who invented the internet too, for making this all possible.
Olbermann wouldn't be cleaning toilets. He'd be packing his desk, tears streaming down his cheeks, cursing the inhumanity of capitalism, while trying to figure out how to set up a blog, rather than just forward emails to the people he probably considers hack losers on the web team for NBC.

just like the gal sitting on Pinocchio's face, moaning "Lie to Me! Lie to me!"
Had to think about that for a few seconds, Pinocchio's relationship to liberalism.
Then I remembered, just laugh. Good one!
And pretty much right on the nose (pun intended). I was one, I'm surrounded by them, I know how they think. It really doesn't matter to them. It's like they're all in a giant clique, they are the cool people, we're all the nerds and losers, and the cool people can do no wrong, and the uncool people can do no right.
It is really that simple. It's no more complicated understanding these people than remembering 5th grade play ground. The people on the left, never matured past that stage.
Yes…too bad you didn't get my excellent, elitist, expensive, private school education!
Ingrid is the most beautiful woman ever.
That face. That voice. That ability to melt the screen.
