Father Flannagan, Jimmy Doolittle and the guy who single-handedly (in the literal sense) straightened out the town of Black Rock.
This is Your Life Barack Obama-You Tube
Loosely based on the Ralph Edward's series but a whole lot funnier.
Thank you senator Snowe, democrats are going to take your 'fig leaf' and turn it into a three piece Armani suit.
By the time this health care bill becomes so FUBARed, democrats will make sure that it's the republicans that own it.
And Ms. Snowe, it's all because of you.

Spencer Tracy was an amazingly talented man and also deeply troubled. A heavy drinker, he would check himself into Los Angeles hotels with a suitcase full of liquor for four/five day binges. (Hepburn would usually have to hunt him down and dry him out.) One biographer has him simply getting into a bathtub, booze at the ready, and just drinking there for days. He was dropped by MGM in the mid-1950's not because he couldn't act anymore but because the sutdio could not longer get insurance on him. All that said, he was our greatest film actor. Who today comes close to Tracy's effortless combination of charm, intelligence, toughness and unforced masculinity? Tracy's career is an embarassment of riches but you can't do better than "Bad Day at Black Rock", "Woman of the Year" and "Boys Town." As Clark Gable supposedly said – "I hate the guy. He makes it look so damn easy." Rest in Peace Spence.
I want a suit like Spence is wearing in that photo.
Looking forward to this one. Stallone did a good job with the new Rambo, this looks even more promising.
Saw the trailer for Pirate Radio the other day, about how the nanny state British Government shut down all private radio (to force everyone to listen to the BBC, natch) and how a group of free-market rebels, led by an American DJ, created a pirate rock radio station.
Looks to me like the Brits have finally made a movie that conservatives can enjoy:

Al Martino aka Johnny Fontane has passed away. No more horses heads necessary.
My favorite Tracy movie is Captains Courageous. I've watched it a million times, and it always gets to me.
Today's must read! Excellent! RT @bighollywood The New Counter Culture: Liberty http://bit.ly/3g8SAE #tcot #art #newmedia
Michael Medved
Listened to him yesterday as callers called in to make fun of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Medved didn't defend his colleagues. He simply laughed and thanked the disparaging commenters.
Am I just catching on to this guy, or has he gone soft and less conservative lately?
Loved Bad Day at Black Rock. Tracy, Ryan, Marvin, Borgnine, Brennen, Jagger, Francis…did I leave anyone out?

News item: The new "Red Dawn" remake has changed it's release schedule. It's now just AFTER the midterm elections.
No need to upset the power that be with what could possibly be a winger movie before the election. What?
Ok, Spencer looks decidedly dashing in that picture.
lol..Whenever I have a bad day I say to hubby "It's been a bad day at Black Rock". He never saw the movie so he almost always will say "huh"?
Hmmm, never heard of him, medved that is..Does he work for Air America or something?
Spencer Tracy was wonderful in Father of the Bride. I also like Inherit the Wind and Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo.

While I can't deny that he was a great actor, I'm just not much of a fan. Oddly enough, like with Hepburn, I prefer his comedies: Libeled Lady and Father of the Bride are my favorites. I also have a soft spot for Boys Town. He (and Mickey Rooney) were wonderful in that.
I haven't heard him for a while, but he is usually really good.
He often will let loonies go and then no comment, but he doesn't pull punches on the right wing either.
and i have heard him defend other radio guys in the past.
Captains Courageous! Love it and Mr. Tracy. Classy actor and many, many, classic roles.
My favorite Spencer Tracy movie is Fritz Lang's "Fury". Wonderful tale of revenge, don't read the back cover, just watch it and enjoy.
Also fondly remember watching "Stanley and Livingston" in my 7th grade World Geography class.
If I did a top five, I'd then go to "Black Rock", "Adam's Rib" and finally "Judgement at Nuremberg".
This is disconcerting. Soros is backing Limbaugh to buy the Rams: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601079&a...
Is it possible that the charge of racism is a cover to deflect conservative media attention away from his getting to bed with the person who is most responsible for the ills of our country that Rush rails against daily?
Back in the 89s, Rush was reassuring everybody that the NWO was not an issue. Now he is in bed with its Lucifer.
This gives me pause.
Tracy is one of the few guys to beat the crap out of Ernest Borgnine in his prime! And he did it with one hand!
Well I'm sure there was at least one stunt double involved, but it was a great movie moment.
Medved is ok…
A smart guy as well. Conservative but an ardent Zionist. Intellectually honest, and will let you know what he feels with style and aplomb. Knows his pop culture and film too.
Always worth a listen…
Go see A Serious Man. That's how you make a movie about religious morals without being preachy.
The weather since 99 proves Al Gore is no God.
He like Bill Clinton but not Hillary. He knew them both in college. I think he is conservative to some degreee but he backhands conservatives on his show.
Rush is Soros! The mask has come off!
I can see Rush now in his lair inside an extinct volcano plotting the takeover….of the world!
Pinky (Snerdley) and the Brain (Rush)
It's going to be very hard to sell that based on only a couple of GOP votes.
The dems own congress, Obama owns the White House, and the MSM is broadcasting that every chance they can. I don't think the MSM has any idea what its doing with all this wonderful coverage. They are drilling who's in power into Americans.
Matthews fantasizes about an audience 1% the size of Rush's.
One thing you can always tell about a modern liberal, when they start attacking its because they're scared to death by some one or something. They attack all opposition as if they were cornered, rabid animals – the liberal being the cornered animal. They lash out viciously, relentlessly, ceaselessly.
An extended promo (for marketing purposes?) for Stallone's new flick, The Expendables. Not bad at all!

If only Jerry Goldsmith were still alive to score the film.

I agree Ed, they usually have no VALID argument so they lash out, pathetic.
Front page Yahoo. " Arctic Ice Cap to Disappear in 20 to 30 years".Big write-up. How come there are no front page headlines when Satellite images showed last winter that the Northern icecap was back to 1979 levels.Just a little paragraph at Evil Fox news?
One of my favorite actors. "Bad Day" is a classic.
Stumbled upon a film this summer he made that I'd never heard of before, The Seventh Cross. He really gave a great performance as a man who'd escaped from a concentration camp and was hunted by the Nazis; it made you feel paranoid just watching it.
Biggest disappointment? Inherit the Wind. I'd heard about it for years and rented it with great expectations. What a silly film, too bad Tracy ended up in that turkey.
No, Michael Medved is not on Air America. He is very conservative. I listen everyday and he never bad mouths colleagues, even if he disagrees with them on something. His show is a little more intellectual than other conservative talk shows.
He also is a big supporter of the Alliance Defense Fund and has their representatives on his shows quite often. Great organization, check them out.
"Northwest Passage" is a film of his that doesn't get much coverage today, but I liked his performance in it as Major Rogers. "Bad Day At Black Rock" was excellent. The only other thing I've seen him in was "It's a Mad…World," and that wasn't so good, but his health was not good then, either.
It sounds like he had a hard lifestyle, but I found this at his IMDb bio and was touched by it: "In 1956/57 when his longtime friend Humphrey Bogart was dying of cancer, Tracy and Katharine Hepburn were two of the only people who visited Bogie (and wife Lauren Bacall) at their home on an almost daily basis. They would sit together at Bogie's bedside for half an hour or so every evening in the months and weeks leading up to his death. After Bogie's death, Bacall requested that Tracy deliver the eulogy at the funeral. He apologetically declined, saying it would simply be too difficult for him. He felt he would be too emotional and wouldn't be able to do it. Bacall understood and director John Huston delivered the eulogy instead."
The lashing out is precisely because they have no valid argument.
It's a defense mechanism, and a very immature one at that. The entire idea is do what ever is necessary to avoid some one saying "Do you have a point?"
This is their main attack method. Shut down the entire debate before it occurs, because they will lose it, and they know it. That's why every one who opposes them is a racist, sexist, hates the poor, want people to suffer, etc. ad nauseum.
Liberals define their opponents as some one unworthy of open debate, there fore, they can feel superior when they do not debate, and when they don't debate, they believe they have won.
It's childish, immature, dishonest, and that's exactly why they do it.
