Michael Savage to Debate Free Speech at Cambridge Union Oct. 15th
by Big Hollywood(San Francisco, CA) Michael Savage, ’shock-jock’ author of over 25 books with a radio audience of 10 million listeners who was banned from entering the United Kingdom in May by Gordon Brown will argue against the insanity of ‘political correctness’ on Thursday, October 15 at 8:00pm GMT. Savage will appear via internet link to argue his case for freedom of speech.
Quoting Winston Churchill, who said, “You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police. They are afraid of words and thoughts! Words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home, all the more powerful because they are forbidden. These terrify them. Always a provocative sort- bomb thrower if you will- he railed against the previous administration when it was anything but chi chi to do so. Now he finds himself taking on a far more onerous bunch; one that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals and will silence all who protest.
He IS protesting. And he needs, and deserves your support. Left, right- all who think unfettered free speech a natural right- stand up and cheer the man!

While I find SOME of the things Mr. Savage says to be either distasteful in substance, or expressed distastefully, many of his views are quite inspiring. Most importantly, however, we must all strenuously support free speech and free expression of ideas. Popular, uncontroversial ideas do not need the protection of the law. Hopefully, New Labor will be punished for attempting to censor this man. I think it's beautiful that he is "appearing" in the UK in support of free speech.
I'm by no means a fan of Savage, but I would be interested in watching this.
Roger Ales met with admin,did they try to censor FOX NEWS? All conservative talkshow host need to hang together ,or……………………. If they had a United Front,the speech censors would crawl back under the rocks they slithered from.
If you find unbridled free speech shocking, I guess he could be classified as a 'shock jock'. This will be another story to be buried by the propagandists on both the right and the left. Bravo Michael!
Just heard Savage say he may not do this, because they can not agree on terms of control.
While a debate with Savage would be interesting, I will be shocked if he actually agrees to it.
Michael Savage (real name Michael Weiner) will never have the guts enough to be in a fair debate. Without his mute button he is inept. People who have called his show have been hung up on while Weiner says on the air that the "caller" is the one who hung up.

I am concerned that David Axelrot met with Roger Ales of Fox. We should keep an eye on a watering down of the dialog on that network. The lepracon O'reilly is already trolling for another interview with the Bamster, so he is backing off on Obama. Then he has that conservative- light, former liberal Bernie Goldberg on all the time with his, cant we all just get along card, as he proceeds to trash talk radio! Savage has been a sage on many issues, for instance, in March he nailed Van Jones for what he was and was spot on. The media finally caught up with this guy in August, Savage was ahead of the curve on that one. It is a mystery why he is never asked to be a guest on any of Fox News TV shows. The UK is trying to make an example of Savage, but he is exposing the Brown Government for what it is. I wish Weiner aka Savage would make peace with Levin, and Fox would give him a shot.
I hope he discusses the recent muzzling of cheerleaders who attempted to put religious content in their banners.
Savage is an important conservative commentator, but he is somewhat mercurial- no the kind of guy you can trust. I was amazed that Andrew Breitbart came on his show a couple of weeks ago….time to rehabilitate Savage?
He continually attacks other conservatives; since he uses a highly charged emotional and personal perspective, one can't automatically endorse his tirades without wondering about their origin. He spendes ten times as much time savaging "The Hemmorhoid", "The Leprechaun", "The Golfer", than he does attacking the likes of Olbermann or Moore.
Still, that is why I like his show- he is freely emotional and obviously passionate about his beliefs (BORDERS! LANGUAGE! CULTURE!), things that often cannot be said of the other conservatives on the airways.
Very interested in hearing what he has to say.
Heard on his show last night that he might not participate because he's unhappy with the technology. If he doesn't participate, he loses all credibility in our house.
So now the university has cancelled the debate? Looks like they are afraid of Savage maybe turning some heads against the UK government… Anyone who believes in freedom of speech should be really worried. Oh, yes, and where is the ACLU right now?
It will be a cold day in hell when Michael "Savage" agrees to participate in a fair debate. He's a coward.

The show starts Monday-Friday at 11:05 PM GMT. I hope it works in the UK. It still worked in Poland a few days ago (the last time I checked)
