John Leguizamo: What’s Wrong With Socialism?
by Big Hollywood
–
The great thing about Celebucrats is that angling a microphone somewhere in their vicinity is pretty much the only effort required to get them to expose themselves as race-obsessed, socialist, grievance mongers.
“Socialized medicine is a good thing, and illegal immigrants should get health coverage under pending legislation, Hollywood actor John Leguizamo told CNSNews.com.
“Concerning the health care bills backed largely by congressional Democrats, Leguizamo said, “Come on, people calling it socialism. What’s wrong with that?””

Hollywood Right…..Now is the time to make a movie of Atlas Shrugged. Show it and we will come.
"What's wrong with socialism?"
Nothing if you don't like freedom; freedom to live the way you want and keep the fruits of your labor.
Who's the "we" he was referred to early in the interview? Mexicans? What a disgrace.

What an idiot.
Even though I totally disagree with him, I actually enjoy the fact that Leguizamo is not afraid to state openly where he is coming from. Our president would never be so forthright nor would most liberal politicians.
I think the next logical move for Johnny is a run for congress.
Go Johnny go!
Hey, he seemed pretty down to earth. Some guy came up to him and asked him for his thoughts on several issues of the day and he said what he thought. You guys really have a problem with that?
I've really disliked John Leguizamo of a few years now ever since his," Latins for Republicans – it's like roaches for Raid".
Being a latino myself, I'd like him or any other liberal for that matter to justify the immigration policies of many Latin American nations, in particular Mexico. Their policies regarding all immigrants, be it the whitest, blue-eyed American or another member of the latino family are draconian compared to the US. All immigrants have very limited property rights with regards to real estate, medical care and education. And then they'll turn around and accuse Americans of discrimination?
Every question he poses about the U.S. I'd love to see him pose to the various latin governments like Mexico. Or how the Mexican border patrol treats people crossing the border from Guatemala.
Nothing's wrong with socialism — if you like being an indentured servant to the government, having your individuality squashed, never allowed to reach you full potential, want to watch the human condition decrease, then see the collapse of society that ends up in some bloody revolution where the new boss is the "same as the old boss."
Quite true. He more or less called Obama a liar in that interview regarding health benefits for illegals.
Yes, I tend to have a problem with an American citizen saying that parts of the US were stolen from Mexico and/or Spain and that my tax dollars should pay for the health care of individuals who illegally entered the country. Last I checked, I can't get free health care in Mexico or Canada either.
He has the right to speak and I have the right to vehemently disagree with the content of his speech. That's how it works around these parts.
What's wrong with Socialism? What's wrong with Hollywood? Same answer.
HE'S AN IDIOT AND I WILL NEVER WATCH ANOTHER MOVIE HE PUTS OUT. HERE IS A GREAT IDEA! HOW ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE FOR SOCIALIZED MEDICINE AND OTHER SOCIAL PROGRAMS SIGN UP AND HELP PAY FOR IT WHILE EVERYBODY THAT DOES NOT WANT IT DOES NOT HAVE TO PAY A DIME FOR THE CAUSE!? THAT'S FAIR RIGHT?
I've noticed something, the only time America is the greatest country on earth (according to actors) is when actors want Americans to give their hard earned dollars away. The rest of the time we're worse than all the tin pot dictators around the world.
How about this, we are the greatest nation on the planet so we shouldn't have to pay to see movies.
The greatest nation on earth should be able to provide entertainment for everyone and for free. When these actors start to get behind free movies then I'll get behind free health care.
I think some people are accidentally adding an 'r' to the word fee. Nothing in life is free, everything has a fee in one way or another.
You have to first DISRESPECT the laws of Canada and Mexico and then enter either country illegally, then you should be able to get free heath care from either Canada or Mexi…..wait a minute this crap only works whem the STUPIDCRATS are pandering for votes.
There's something that doesn't get talked about all the much.
Mexico's immigration policies are horrendous and their treatment of people trying to sneak through their country is criminal.
It might not be easy for Mexicans to actually make the long walk but it's a hell of a lot easier than it is for any other South and Central American trying to illegally immigrate north. If Mexico was as lax as we are on immigration and border security we would have double the population of illegal immigrants from South and Central America.
Tax him first.
This puke couldn't define socialism if you spotted him the hammer and the sickle…
what an idiot.
another one in my profession proving what a deep and comprehensive thinker he is.
his ignorance and lack of understanding of our government and history doesn't surprise me, it saddens me.
but as i read earlier
“One should never meet a man whose work one admires. The man is always so much less than the work.”
Dang I loved Ice Age. I wish these people would just shut up about politics and act.
WRT socialism John Leguizamo is 100% correct when it comes to Hollywood. The actors are overpaid the movie ceo makes too much and the masses pay way tooo much for a movie ticket. Government needs to TAKE OVER the MOVIE INDUSTRY. Government needs to reduce movie ceo pay, actor pay needs to be limited to a more reasonable amount of $50,000.00 per year maximum and ticket prices need to be capped at $5.00 per adult nationwide. Any excess profits go to the well deserved government. Thanks John fo rthe excellent idea but keep socialism out of health care because smart people know that it destroys the quality of health care provided worldwide. To say otherwise is a lie.
YES!!! LOL
Call your congressman and demand the following:
Movie tickets are overpriced due to the greed of overpaid actors. The government needs to put a cap on the cost of tickets.
Out of pocket expenses have skyrocketed. Popcorn, candy, and icy drink need to be included in the price of the ticket.
Our employers should pay 80% of the cost of a movie ticket.
There is no choice for the American public. We demand a public option to increase our choices and make these actors and producers honest and more competitive.
One of my favorite actors (and his one man show was just amazing). As a political commentator….eh, not so much.
At least he's not as much of a moron as Sean Penn (that could be the most back-handed compliment in history).
They think that socialism will only effect "others". What they don't realize is that when 90% of their incomes are confiscated by a goverment in need of helping others will they wake up.

What folks are commenting about is that he revels himself to be an idiot. Lacking any knowledge of the laws and the history of the US.
I like your plan. I may actually go to a movie again
Ummm Doledummy ….. Parts of the US were stolen from Mexico and Spain. The Spanish American War was created in order to aid US Imperialism. You can read the fed propaganda of the patriotic script if you like, but the US earned a whole lot of bad karma in the way we have meddled in other countries affairs.
Read a little beyond your high school history book for a change ……….
Actors generally are lauded because they can convince us that they are the character that they portray on screen and deliver their lines in a believable manner.
Unfortunately, most are under-educated ignoramuses without a real deep thought in their pretty little heads. He is one of those airhead types that do no deep thinking only spout superficial "emotions" about issues that require a little contemplation.
Actors are a little like children – cute but not to be taken seriously.
Someone ought to point out in answer to Leguizamo's question, "What's wrong with socialism?" ~
"Nothing, dude. Now gimme your F'ing money. All of it."
Hollywood is full of these commie pinko socialist. No surprises here. Deport him to Venezuela.
Would it surprize him to know that the schedules upon which the insurance companies reduce the hospitals bill are based upon schedules developed by Medicare a government plan and that a great deal of the meteoric rise in health care costs are due to price fixing by these same Medicare schedules.
I would like John here to explain to me what the government is doing with the 2.9% of my salary they are collecting from me in Social Security Medicare portion of my taxes. That is $290 for every 10,000 I earn. For someone making 50K a year that is$1,450. This is more than what I am charged for my Health Insurance now

Nothing to see here people, just another Hollywood has-been pontificating on something he knows nothing about. Keep moving…
Why doesn't he give all his money to his "bretheren" and he (and us) will be free of his guilt. Another nitwit from the fringe.
I have to give him props for trying to explain something he knows nothing about. How cute is that?
Dang, That is one heck of an idea, at least to propose. Why _not_ throw this in the face of some of these fine folks? It would be better than NEA grants any day! I think this is an idea that needs to be developed, at the least into t-shirts and posters. Oh crap who am I kidding the irony would be totally lost on the targets. Still. I like it.
Responding to the comments about Hollywood making "too much money." PLEASE…somebody like the people at the Peoples' Cube or James O'Keefe and friends…let's start a "movement" with protests and such demanding that celebrities be limited on how much money they make. It would be precious to see the actors have to defend capitalism.
BTW – BREAKING NEWS – Letterman in sex and extortion scandal. Someone took their daughter to Yankee Stadium and Dave tried to knock them up????
Ha ha! Brilliant!
Probably still be cheaper to pay for the health insurance than to buy these morons a clue.
Good post, BHF. Everyone knows the U.S. is held to impossibly high standards. It's all a part of the Critical Theory-Cultural Marxism rage that everyone's been talking about…
"How about this, we are the greatest nation on the planet so we shouldn't have to pay to see movies.
The greatest nation on earth should be able to provide entertainment for everyone and for free. When these actors start to get behind free movies then I'll get behind free health care."
Great flip…and pin!
We need the hollywood windfall tax. Take every penny they get over $100,000 per movie. They can't complain about making $100,000 per movie . . . or can they?
See how fast they become Conservatives.
Damn. I was hoping they wouldn't go with Charlize.
Although, Mark Cuban uses her a lot in his movies and his a huge Randian. So maybe he's rubbed off on her.
If you disagree with Dolemite, fine, calling him/her a dummy makes you look classless. I suppose you feel that Spanish Imperialism on the Central and South American continent was fine. I don't have the facts concerning the start and causes of the Mexican/American War handy with me, although I'm sure Mexico was NOT an innocent bystander.
Remember the Alamo!!
You folks forget Hollywood equals instant cash.
Don't upset the ATM machines for the folks currently in power.
Great idea, Bravo!!!
Drives me nuts!!! "We're the greatest country on the planet", they say.
How did we become the greatest nation on earth? Well, it had a little something to do with democracy and FREE MARKET CAPITALISM!!! If that helped make us a great nation, we will not stay great by changing the formula.
If socialism is so great, why isn't a socialist nation leading the free world? Is it really that complicated?
America was the first to harness the power of electricity, we discovered flight, we industrialized the automobile and put a man on the moon. For crying out loud, Al Gore even invented the internet. The list goes on and on. Is it just a coincidence that these great inventions and discoveries came from (and continue to come from) America. Does free market capitalism have anything to do with that?
John, wipe the drool off your chin and think.
No Katy, the next logical move is for John to turn over every red cent he has ever made in this country over to the government. He wants socialism, he should experience it personally. He needs to wait on line for days for bad food & other necessities, just like the masses in socialist societies. He needs to be told there is no medical care left for his family, because we the masses need it for younger, more important people. This is just another airheaded celebrity that does not appreciate this nation and never will until it is too late.
Matt, insults mean you have no argument. Spain & Mexico lost land after losing wars. Just like every other country in the history of our planet. The weak &/or obsolete lose. Get used to it. Stole?? Who did Spain & Mexico steal it from? Losers always claim theft after they've lost the war. Oh, and if you do not like or respect our country, you might try living elsewhere. There is no fence keeping you here. Go down to a harbor, get on a boat and go. You will not be missed here. I doubt you'll be happy elsewhere, but that's life.
Exactly right. Refusal to see the consequences of their actions make both of them quite similar.
Not only that, but all actors should be working for free. Don't they care about us? Don't they care about the poor?
I know what you mean. Any Hollywood leftist that opens their mouth pretty much ruins every flick they've ever been in for me. I can't watch movies I used to enjoy once these simpletons pontificate on matters they know nothing about.
U got that right!
Only because no one on this planet is as big a moron as spiccoli…
Uh Matt…. the Mexican war was between Mexico and the independent Republic of Texas. Texas declared their independence in 1836 and Santa Ana did not like that so they started a war in 1845 to show those Texans who owned what. Those Territories were ceded to America in the Treaty of Guadelupe which makes it all legal like….
In short MAtt Mexico is all to blame, they brought on themselves…… WHY you might ask, well Matt they
MESSED WITH TEXAS…. Don;t MESS with Texas Matt, JUST Don't Do It.

Hey you big dummy – How did you make all your money ? Not Socialism.
Capitalism.
Under a socialist society you sir would be another number.
Grow the hell up and read up on something before you open your mouth and stick your foot in it.
Sorry, but I have always found him to be repulsive. Now I know why! Just because someone is in a movie doesn’t mean they’re an actor. Hey John, just because it’s called socialized doesn’t mean its any good. Should we give healthcare to every illegal/undocumented person who shows up … like say Canadians? I betcha you’d say no. Now we evidence of yet another documented idiot in Follywood. We don’t need another Red Scare we need a dead air between the ears scare.
He's the best argument against him.
Oh, SHUT UP! I'm ashamed to have the same first name as you, if that even is your name.
My comment was tongue in cheek…
John actually should run for congress. It's the only other place a brain-dead progressive could make a living other than Hollywood.
In the immortal words of B. Bunny… WHAT A MAROONE!
There is a Big Markup that is corupt………..ahhh, Either I missed something or this guy has been in the Kool Aid! The Interviewed persons response: There is not a problem with the Government owning things. Did he read our Constitution? There is no problem for Illegal Aliens to get Health Insurance. Does he pay his taxes or is he another Turbo Tax Geitner.
He said he wants to pay for the first 100 Boarder Jumpers.
Yet another actor/comedian that I've always enjoyed & admired has gone and turned me off. I really don't care about his opinions, he has a right to them. I just don't know why these hollywood people can't understand that the potential for loosing 1/2 of their audience when they get into politics is just plain stupid. Do they not realize how much business they loose? Or is it possible that when they've finally "made it", they don't feel the need to appeal to as many people?
I 2nd that, fantastic idea!!!

"Socialism means the government owns things, capitalism means the corporations owns things. Which one do you want?"
Hey dumb@$$! I own corporations.
John Leguizamo shows well how the Liberal mind works. The comparisons he makes are like comparing apples to bricks and his understanding of what is actually happening out there is almost non-existent.
He doesn't know what is wrong with socialism because he's never lived under it and has no idea what it means. These people drink the kool aid. If someone robbed them at gun point every time they got a pay check and gave it to a bunch of out of work actors they might just get it but then again not many actors are all that bright.
That's perfect. I'll be willing to kick in every penny my wife and I make over 100K, so that's completely fair for all. "From each according to his ability; to each according to his need".
Yeah and they stole their land from the Native Americans who were here before Spain came. Almost every country in the world has been stolen, invaded and occupied by another throughout history. So go read about that before you call someone a dummy.
It could be worse: He could be a defender of Roman Polanski.
Good question. Apparently they're pouring it into a bottomless landfill. Although, you must be paying for your health care at the single rate; it would be hard to find a decent family health care plan for $1450 a year. I pay $2400 for the Federal BC/BS PPO. I've had an Aetna plan for around $1800 but it was absolute crap.
Medicare should be the first thing people look at before they decide whether we want more or less Federal involvement in health care. I'm not saying it isn't a necessary program for those who need it, but it hasn't been well managed.
Hey, Leguizamo was hot in "To Wong Foo…"
Uhhh…well, he cleaned up better than Wesley Snipes, anyway.
And not to speak ill of the dead, but Swayze made one ugly woman.
How about you read something of substance, please?
The stupid is teeming in your comment.
My daughter loves Ice Age but her favorite character is Diego.
Aw man. You had to remind me he was a character in that. **sigh**
I guarantee the math would give him a headache and render him incapable of answering– like every other liberal I know.
"Ice Age" was a very cute movie. On the other hand, if I knew what portions of my brain were storing the images I have of drag-queen Wesley Snipes in "Wong Foo", I'd dig them out myself with a melon scoop.
Silly man … who ignores reality while cheapening the presidency while simultaneously embarrassing the US before entire world.
Maybe, the committee will tell the president that his country doesn’t have the money for the Olympics and that his attention should be on the serious problems the United States is in. That’s our only hope because he sure isn’t listening to the voters.
I've really disliked John Leguizamo for a few years now ever since his," Latins for Republicans – it's like roaches for Raid" comment.

In a free market system, no one can set the price because there is competition. If you raise your price, you lose market share. There are therefore two possibilities. You can reduce your cost so you have a lower average production cost than anyone else, or you can innovate and create an improved product. In a socialist system, the government sets the price and controls the market. Therefore, no one has an incentive to produce at their lowest average cost, or to innovate.
The return on labor is wages, the return on capital is interest, the return on land is rent, the return on business innovation is profit. Profit is not a dirty word, and as long as a market is free (no one is the price setter), then profit can not be excessive.
I'm tired of these no-nothings who think profit is a dirty word.
Oh give me a break, Matt. I've read plenty and you sound like you READING from one of today's history textbooks! Just because you are a lib doesn't give you a license to presume you know more than everybody else. Make an argument and cease the name-calling. You know, like intelligent adults do.
He may very well know what he is talking about. Because his mind is right, actually left, he worries not about the Hollywood establisment, he feels relative assured of another job. He also must cover Latin/America. He feels he must be welcome in their groups, award shows etc. I'm sure most of his close friends are Latinas/Latinos. He doesn't care what we think or what Joe average American thinks. We'll keep buying those tickets.
I know I just saw that on Greta, more to come. A wave of schadenfreude is now washing over me. LOL!!!
“Concerning the health care bills backed largely by congressional Democrats, Leguizamo said, “Come on, people calling it socialism. What’s wrong with that?””
Gee whiz John….Everything!!!
…his 15 minutes are over…….go back to your hole clown!
Why does it matter? Who really cares what these people think?
Come on people: Hollywood actors are just 'beautiful idiots'. They are like sophisticated parrots: there is no brain behind their gorgeous faces, they are good for reading lines written by others. For the majority of these parrots, their real lives are split between having sex with strangers and getting drugged to the point of dying.
Yeah, I know they themselves think they are of consequence: I even remember some of the parrots testifying before congress on Medical issues …just because they played a 'doctor' in a movie. LOL!
I am sorry, but if you take their opinions seriously you are as fool as they are cute!
Hollywood? What about Washington DC? That place is full of Commies again.
They want US to bent over while the neighboring country has the most draconian immigration policy? If he likes socialism, there is Venezuela he can run to. Illegal immigrants has more right in this country than true citizens. Welfare, SS and medicare has been exhausted by illegal aliens for far too long.
The best place to implement socialism is Hollywood. Equal work equals equal pay. Production people works as hard as everybody else. Reading script is not hardwork.

Et tu, Luigi Mario?
The kool-aid is being drunk in vast quanitites over in La-La-Land. What's wrong with Socialism? It doesn't work. That's what's wrong with it.
I'm still waiting for my check that John will turn over to me after his next movie. Hey, It's Socialism John! What's wrong with that?
Note to self: Add John Leguizamo to the list of actors whom I will never support with my patronage again. He occasionally gets lucky enough to show up in a good movie. That will be a sacrifice I am willing to make.
Hollywood needs a revolution. I can only hope the likes of John Voight will stand up and start putting his money where his mouth is. Start backing Conservative movies and stop backing Liberal ones. The youth of America is impetuous and easily manipulated. It is time Conservatives began to wage a war for the hearts and minds of America's youth. The Liberals have been doing it for years and look at the shape of this once great country. Disgusting.
This guy pays more in taxes than probably everyone on this board combined. Kudos to him for speaking his mind.
Health care corrupt? Hey John, I think your salary is corrupt! You simply make too much money with your acting; it's just driving up the costs for us to go and see you do what you do…….I think it's time for you to sacrifice your income for the well being of the collective community. Why don't we reduce your salary by 50-75%. See how you like it. Hey …..we can give it to health care…to all the illegal aliens coming through the back door. You care so much right? Instead of hard working Americans paying for all this through OUR TAXES, why doesn't Commie Hollywood sacrifice their elite comfort here on earth and give it ALL to the needy? Surely you don't need those nice cars and the nice California home you undoubtedly have, John. Surely you and your family can donate all that you have…move into a 2-3 BR apartment and ride the bus to work! Right??? Not!! Hey John, you are so generous with other people's money….that's big of you…OUR Money. If Hollywood gives a damn so much, empty your own damn pockets. Hypocrites!!
Hey, Leguizamo! Maybe you haven't heard, but it was Northern Europeans, not Spaniards, not Columbus, that "discovered" this country. Stop the lying!
Hlollywood has-been? Meh…more like never-was…
I totally agree with you. I can't watch some actors' films anymore because they've opened their mouths. Matt Damon is one I can't stand to ever watch again which bums me because I liked the Bourne movies.
John is Puerto Rican.
I think he is referencing Latin people in general though.
You are right Spinalcracker. Mexico got pissed off after TX paid for the land. Then they claimed we stole it from them. Typical.
He probably is – we just haven't heard his feelings on the matter.
[...] John Leguizamo: What’s Wrong With Socialism? [...]
The more serious point is that everyone knows that such a government takeover of the movie industry would lead to unwatchable movies. Oh wait, most Hollywood movies are already unwatchable.
Well, actually Texas was annexed to the U.S. prior to the War, which was fought by Federal troops under the command of Winfield Scott. The border with Mexico had been in dispute since the founding of the Republic of Texas, and we settled it. Most of our Civil War generals (on both sides) received their baptism under fire in the Mexican War, including Virginia's Robert E. Lee and Ohio's Ulysses Grant.
If any of you are interested in this history, Jeff Shaara has a good book on the subject, "Gone For Soldiers".
Santa Anna was living in exile in Cuba at the time of the war, although he was allowed back into the country to lead the Mexican army and wound up screwing BOTH the Mexicans and the Americans before he returned to exile, this time to Jamaica.
His life story would make a heck of a movie.
Matt –
If the Spanish-American War was fought to "aid U.S. Imperialism", why did we give up Cuba and the Philipines after we kicked Spain's butt? Good Imperialists would have kept the spoils.
We did keep Puerto Rico, though. And look at how well that has turned out for us. We now have an unending supply of rum, cane sugar, and Puerto Ricans…
What;s wrong with socialism?,well, for starters Hitler beileved in it and socialism's ugly sister communism resulted in the deaths of about 80 million in the last century.
If this actor/singer dummy wanted to know what's wrong with socialism he'd move to Cuba and would soon realize that all of his talents earn him $50 per week.
Don't hold it against him too much, he probably received an Ivy League education.
Leguizamo…thank god he's Puerto Rican so I don't have to claim him.
You can show them the effects of socialization yourself; it's easy. I'm sorry Mr. Leguizamo, I couldn't afford a movie ticket, or to purchase a DVD; but since I know that you think redistribution of wealth is okay, and that you believe everybody should have equal access to the same quality of life, I took the liberty of downloading and distibuting every movie you have ever been in.
I've always liked John Leguizamo, and I believe he's down to earth, but he like many don't really understand what Socialism is and what the cost is and I'm not talking about money, he doesn't know, because if he did he wouldn't support it. If I thought he did know and still supported it I wouldn't like him. If you want to live in a half dead, gray world, like the eastern block countries after WWII, then support socialism, after all it''s only fair right? Only people who have a deep disdain for this country, it's Constitution, and it's culture, and most of the people would knowingly support Socialism/Marxism so-on. Like I said I like John so I have to think he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Thanks for the coherent response, semus. But I can't help but think that you and others are reading too deeply into his comments. What I got was that Leguizamo is (like many on the left) annoyed that socialism has become a scare word, because of the same association you make to Cold War-era communism.
But the word socialist is also an accurate word to describe many policies that have benefited Americans (Medicare, social security, public education, and so on). To describe Leguizamo's ideal healthcare system as socialist is not inaccurate, but that does not make it inherently evil. That, I believe, is the point he's trying to make.
Take a look at the book "Road to Serfdom". Or try to find out some of Milton Friedman's thoughts you can google his name.
Thanks to you also.
Good on yer Dolemite, thanks for the brief history of a war that is pretty much been forgotten. I did a little research on the war and you got the gist of it down concisely.
I know. Bummer. It kind of loses the mystique when an actor's character overrides the character they are playing.
Makes more money, too.
Matt – follow if you can – in the early 1830's Texans (or Texians as they were known then) revolted against the imperialist Mexican government after Mexico's military dictator Antonio López de Santa Anna tore up Mexico's Constitution of 1824 (you may have heard of the Alamo, Sam Houston etc.). After the Texans under Sam Houston defeated Santa Anna, Texas became an independent republic. Not long after, Texas agreed to join the US. After that, Mexico sent troops across the Rio Grande border into Texas several times and even ambushed a US military patrol killing several US troops. The US then declared war. In response, Mexican then promptly attacked Fort Texas (near Brownsville) and the war was on. We all know how it ends (Mexican defeat). So, Mexico fired the first shots and sowed the seeds of the war by tearing up its Constitution of 1824. This is a quick and simple history of the war but I would guess that's all you're able to grasp anyway. And let's face it, the Spanish/Mexicans stole the area by force from the Comanches and Apaches (and others) so spare me the imperialist indignations. There endeth the lesson.
Tom you are right.
However $1,450 covers a single individual. A family wiith two earners should make $50 K twice.
That's $2.900. Make more you pay more the medicare part has no tax cap. If you are self employed you see this tax. The Gov'tt charges you half and your employer half but it is all paid on your account and trust me your employer calculates this in deciding your compensation.
In his consolidation and elimination of medicare costs has Obama discussed eliminating or even replacing the medicare tax. It is my understanding this is not the case.
Are you saying that liberals are math challenged…..
That's the correct term this week, isn't it.
Very good history lesson from you and Old Tom Dolemite I appreciate the update.
However I still maintain their fatal flaw ….
They Messed with Texas and the rest is as they say history…
http://www.lsjunction.com/events/events.htm
Wow
Santa Ana survided the war…. figured after it was done he be the first pronged on the peasants' pitchforks.
Thanks for the help….
I actually looked it up and according to IMDB.com, Lueguizamo's "father, Alberto, is Italian-Puerto Rican while his mother, Luz is Lebanese-Colombian". and he was born in Bogota, Colombia.
It's ironic that half of his heritage is neither Spanish nor Latin. So I'm still puzzled by the "we" he refers to. Under his logic, two of his own grandparents were among the interlopers who "stole" parts of the Americas. You can also throw his Irish-American wife and children into that category as well.
Oh and one last thing regarding the claim that anything was "stolen" from Mexico. At the conclusion of the Mexican-American War, the United States PAID Mexico nearly 20 Million Dollars for the territories that the US assumed control of at the end of hostilities. So I' don't see how anyone can argue that the US "stole" something that it paid a very large sum (about a half a billion in today's Dollars) of money for.
You forgot the part about how Mexico, then a more powerful and prestegious country than the U.S., invited Americans in to settle and cultivate the land in Texas and Arizona. Then, when it had been developed a little, they used a group of 10 or so people agitating for Texas go to the US and engaging in general banditry as an excuse to use the Mexican Army to start evicting all the Americans they'd lured in with the promise of cheap land and eventual Mexican citizenship.
Which got the other Americans in the area fighting back and following the bandits and culminated in the Alamo.
Send this idiot back to Mexico where he belongs. Mexico is a disgusting country because the criminals run it. If it was so great in the socialists paradise why do "these" people keep coming here….for the freebies that's why. Pathetic. I really am starting to despise all minorities.
Conversations with socialists. I have them. A lot.
I have them with that special brand of socialist– the post-collegiate angsty intellectual who has the luxury of saying Fidel Castro "has some pretty good ideas" because, for him, it's not a national talking point enforced at the muzzle of a gun and the blindfolded brink of a ditch. That kind of socialist.
They're good folks. They truly do want the best for people. They think "equal" necessarily equals "good." They, therefore, want equality enforced.
Sometimes during these conversations, my big-government buddies concede, "All right, so maybe it doesn't always work in practice, but it's a nice thought."
Beware Chavez-istas. You won’t like the future.
I used to concede that point. "Yes, it's a nice idea in theory," I'd say, "But it never works in practice. In fact, it's disastrous, deadly, and scoops out people's souls like so many cold lumps of cosmic ice cream, splatted on the sidewalks of humanity. But you're getting the picture."
In the last couple years, I've had to revise that. The truth is that it is not a nice idea, in theory. Well, not if you actually think about what the theory implies.
Socialism is enforced equality. But someone has to enforce. Someone has to take all that a country of dynamic, amazing, different people has produced and slice it up into dull, government-approved parcels that go to each according to his need. So much for diversity, right?
This means that no one owns anything except for the guy doing the enforcing of equality, who without fail, feels a lot less strongly about his own equality with the proletariat than he does about the rabble's equality with each other. That's how Fidel Castro ended up on the Forbe's list of richest people.
This guy inevitably gets a little testy when folks step out of line by wanting to own the things they earn, thereby cutting down on his net worth. And by testy, I mean blood-thirsty and murdery.
Born in Colombia to Puerto Rican Dad and Colombian mom.
