“On November 4th 2008, we held a mock presidential election in my third grade classroom. Students spoke their minds about the candidates, and I facilitated making sure all sides were heard. Secret ballots were cast, and Barack Obama won getting 18 out of 20 votes. John McCain and Cynthia McKinney split the remainder. Later that night of course history was made.
“The students arrived the next day absolutely glowing. We talked about the historical significance of Obama’s victory, and they then imagined what it would be like to run for office themselves. Each student made a poster portraying him or herself as candidate and the issues they would address in the year 2048.
“Obama’s victory opened their minds to the possibility that they too could one day be commander in chief—or anything for that matter. What they needed to do was STAY IN SCHOOL and work very very hard. At no time were the children told by me they should look up to Obama. The fact that most did already reflects what they learned at home and amongst their peers, not by any indoctrination in the classroom.
“We began to write the song after watching the Inauguration. Our school day is packed bell to bell with academics, but were usually able to spend the last five minutes of singing songs as short ELD (English Language Development) activities. Day by day we used this tiny window of time to brainstorm lyrics. As the song took shape, the children became more and more proud of their accomplishment. It soon morphed into a tribute to MLK and others honored for their work towards social justice.
“By February the song was done. We got requests to come and perform from adjacent classrooms that heard it coming from our room at the end of the day. Their egos boomed. I decided to make it something they’d never forget by producing the video. Nobody forced the children to participate–in fact a few sat it out. When it was finished, they were hoping the President himself would see it and wanted to be able to show it to friends and relatives. We got the consent of parents as well as the administration and put it online.

It's great that the teacher got her students thinking about the election, but the Dear Leader-esque indoctrination is just nauseating, I don't care which President it is or what party he belongs to. That does not belong in an American classroom.

Well, I had a problem with the "Change" video from before the election, and I have a problem with the video from earlier this week– but I have to say I am pretty OK with this one. It is maybe over the line in a couple places, but overall I wouldn't have a problem with my daughter doing this in school. I don't think there is a problem of having kids using the President as a role model to study, I certainly have no problem with kids learning about Dr. King and his speeches. I do have a big problem with the kid wearing an Obama shirt, because I doubt a Bush campaign shirt would be allowed. The "yes we can" I have a little bit of a problem with, but overall the meaning of the phrase I like – just not that his machine came up with that,

When I see things like this indoctrination going on, it makes me thankful that I don't have kids, although I do have a granddaughter who is bi-racial (her father is black, but not "African-American") and, since she is almost three years old, I worry that someone like these present-day brainwashers might try to do something similar when she begins going to go. In the 1960s, one way to get out of serving in the military, was to go to college and become a teacher. Suddenly, lots of guys enrolled and because they really didn't want to teach, not only became "bad" teachers, but also didn't do all that well in college. Still, they were hired and taught and along the way ( since many were lefties anyway ), managed to get their sicko philosophy into the heads of little kids and not so little kids.

My brother, a very talented musician, was attending one of the most respected music colleges back in the early 80's. His Major was originally, Music Education. Everything was going great through his Freshman year. However, during his Sophomore year he had to begin taking his "Education" course requirements. The first day of his first "Education" course, the professor lectured the class, "You are not here to learn how to teach children how to play and enjoy and appreciate music. You are here to learn how to be agents of change." All due credit to my brother, he stood up, flipped off the professor, walked straight to the Admin. offices and changed his Major.

Home school your children. Work against and vote down every local school tax referendum. Starve this corrupt system of its fuel. Eventually, these scumbags who dare call themselves "educators" will be forced to find real jobs. And when no self-respecting employer hires them, they will discover to their utter horror that they are not equipped nor qualified to perform any worthwhile, useful, and profitable enterprise. Then they can starve as well, and our nation and the world will definitely become a much better place.

What are these kids going to do when they get a little older and see the racism is coming from the Obama supporters as much as it comes from anywhere else?
Yeah, I don't get what social justice has to do with it- he was a very appealing candidate who ran one hell of a campaign. I think his color was further down the list of things people liked about him than these idiots would have us believe.

Any teacher that pulls a stunt like this, regardless of who the president is, needs to have her a** kicked right out of the door and needs to have her teaching credentials yanked immediately. I think these people are mad; every adult with any brain activity at all knows that this is not the correct thing to do. No wonder college students cannot perform basic math functions, cannot construct a sentence, can't spell kat, and don't know who Thomas Jefferson was. They are busy wasting the day putting condoms on cucumbers, discussing Heather's Two Mommies, feeling good about themselves, and now, singing praises to Obama. Good God! The parents of these children need to storm the schools and demand that the offending teachers be fired. This type of adulation for a politician is sick.
Two thoughts.
(1) Cynthia McF'ingKinney got a vote in this class?!?! What part of Planet Z is this class on, anyway? I'm guessing that the teacher's indoctrination merely supplemented what was happening at home. God bless the poor little guy/girl who had the third-grade courage to vote (even secretly) for McCain. At that age, I certainly would not have dared to do that.
(2) On the upside, I was born in the 1950s and educated with by a relentlessly right-wing, patriotic, faculty (at least until the late 1960s). My spouse, a bit older, was subjected to the same, if not worse. Result? Two people who completely disbelieved all of the biased claptrap we learned as children and embraced the leftist claptrap that we heard once we got to college. My point–I'm guessing that students who have digested a lifetime of leftist drivel are ripe for rebellion. I work with bright 20-somethings and if anything they seem to lean toward the libertarian. Just sayin'.
I have a feeling there are a lot of videos out there like this. It just goes to show just how overtaken the public school system has been take over in the big cities. If something like this happened in a rural school district, first of all it would be known rather quickly and second not tolerated.

What, are you as stupid as your post indicates? Education and blind praise of a devisive politician by kids TO YOUNG are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. These kids are to young to know the difference. It's indoctrination, not education you twit.
I don't care if he's purple with pink polka dots (although he seems YELLOW), here's some advise.
Go by a few books and actually read them, don'y use them as door stops.
There is nothing "harmless" about kids being led into kissing Obama's ass, black or not.
My thoughts as well. Don't think for one second that Obama won that election 18-1-1 without these children having their minds polluted with drivel for some time. I hate to say it, but perhaps they were "indoctrinated" or shall we say "brain-washed" leading up to the election. Its like Hussein (the other one, Saddam) winning national elections in Iran with 99.99% of all votes. It kind of makes you scratch your head and go……………………………….. hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm??????
I don't know. I saw the first video and was completely floored. But I think that this one is subtly, but importantly different. There wasn't much more than factual statements in this ("… First African-American in history…") and patriotic "I a proud American". Not that I wouldn't be uncomfortable if my kid was singing this, but I think that we shouldn't try equate the two videos. I really don't think that this one should be a firing offense, I'd just want to say to the teacher/instructor "Hey, some parents didn't vote for Mr. Obama, and probably wouldn't be happy to hear that your telling their kids how great it is that he won." Vs. the first video, in which the entire school district, now that the principle and superintendent did not speak up against the singing, should be closed down.
Un fortunately the elimination of that option is on our leaders to do list as well.

You ever see those old films of North Korea or some hell hole run by lefties where the people have to chant death to America and such and are told on a regular basis… you get the picture.
50 years from now true historians are going to see the lefties and their vile actions of today and marvel we weren't in dire civil war combat sooner.
My entire grade school career took place under Republican administrations. I do not remember ever once participating in any sort of activity that related in any way to praising our President (and I grew up in a very Republican town). I don't even remember elections being discussed.
So, to me, these videos are simply inconceivable. If I had a child in one of these classes, I don't think they have a unit of time to measure how quickly I would be in the principle's office demanding the "teacher" be fired.
As a mother, all I can say is this is just sad. I weep for these children. Shame on their parents for allowing their children to be used in this manner.
While in school,the presidents were LBJ to Jimmy Carter,then Reagan in college.Not once do I remember this stuff,BUT I do remember this stuff in history class concerning,Stalin and Hitler,unbelievable.We had portrait repros of Washington,Lincoln,Jackson and others.but NOTHING like this except in study of despots in history class.Time to disband the NEA,fire all the 60's hippies,and use computers,at home to school children.Bring back our manufacturing base,reduce taxes,deconstruct ALL confiscatory regulations since the 1960's and all democrat created laws as well.We'd have our country back in one generation.And while we're at it,let's go ahead and implement free energy systems to give to the world(like we did with the internet)and really make some people squirm.Hey Escheleon-FREE ENERGY to eliminate money systems and politicians!!!(ZEITGEIST)

Reminds me of the creepy CA video before the election that stated the kids just spontaneously came up with the idea to sing a song to otard.. Just complete BS but i have learned to expect that from the party of pigs.

If you were to watch the Jones Town documentaries, you would also see lots enthusiastic children singing and dancing. The Nuremburg rallies songs, the Internationale- 'Change' always needs a catchy tune.
I feel like I need to point out that no one seems to have read the lyrics. It's all about how the children should study hard and graduate so that one day they too could become a President of the United States. It's a song in praise of America for electing its first non-white President performed by a room of culturally diverse students. Honestly, the comparisons to oppressive regimes seems far fetched. I'm not sure what portion of the song people take offense to…the praise of Obama for studying hard?…really? I'm sorry, but I really think some of the responses are out of line.
As a child of the 80s, I can say without a doubt… it's not just you.
I'm glad that people are ALLOWING kids to get involved if they want to, but this smacks of indoctrination from start to finish. And I find it a little disturbing that we're HAPPY that our voting was not unlike that of 9 year olds
