September 24, 2009Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

This teacher needs to be dismissed as should any teacher that brings politics into the school. While it would be absurd to accuse Obama of coaxing this teacher to do this, I have no doubt that this is part of his agenda. Since he can't run a campaign on substance or character, the next best thing is, what else, popularity. He only needs to make himself a household name and in the next election they will chose him without even bothering to think. They don't need to believe, respect or trust him….they just have to like him.

I was thinking the same thing. Hope they don't plan to be successful when they grow up. If so, they'll probably wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, remember this "innocent" event, and curse their young stupidity (and the obvious agenda of their teachers).
My 20-something nieces are big supporters of the president and aspire to well-compensated careers. Me? I'll be retiring soon enough, but I hope I'm there to see the look on their faces when they realize they'll be the ones paying dearly for this lunacy throughout their working lives.

I actually saw a story like this years ago about parents who had rigged their TV to work off pedal power. Kids traded off exercise for TV watching…as I recall, they became big fans of reading.
Interesting book. I found a water damaged copy in my Grandfather's library, so I couldn't read the whole thing, but what I did read was fascinating. If I remember correctly, it was written by one of his generals. he stated the single most important event leading up to WWII was Hitler taking his step father's last name.
He said there is no way they could ever have ginned up the German people into such frenzy with "Heil Schicklgruber."

The creepy factor is way high for me on this one. My children currently are enrolled in a program that sends out parental permision slips for everything from participation in wood working to "good touch, bad touch" lessons. I wonder if the parents of these children had any idea what the children were participating in.
First part reads:

Isn't it wonderful that a school can push agendas on innocent children of unknowing parents – that is one side of the mouth. And at the same time, from the other side of the mouth, state recordings were not authorized. Their defense of unauthorized recordings in situations whereas the hands are caught red in the cookie jars – just purely indefensable and a non-sensical defense.

Allow me to give you a little comfort. The kids who attend my daughter's Catholic high school are great. They're smart, polite, knowledgeable, well mannered.

I don't remember anyone saying disparaging things in my schools during the Carter years, and I grew up in a very conservative neighborhood, and Carter was horrible.

My wife was a school teacher in the Boston school system and got a heavy reprimand in 2002 for mentioning to a student who was saying disparaging things and Bush that we should respect the President. Later that year her contract was not renewed.

The response from the school district is perhaps one of the lamest excuses I have ever come across. If such a thing happened when Bush was still President, a song praising Bush, the teacher would have been fired and the school district would be crying for forgiveness.

This video is offensive and frightening. It shouldn't matter whether you are a Democrat who likes President Obama and agrees with everything he is doing, you should still be upset with this school and the teachers involved. You could substitute any person's name into the songs and, as a parent of young children in the public school system, you should be very concerned.
This worship of Obama is reminding me more and more of things I learned in the Eschatology classes I took (look it up). If black Americans have made contributions to our culture, then why can't they be included in regular history lessons along with other notable historical people? The video depicts activity during Black History Month in 2009. We celebrate Black History Month in February to honor the contributions of African American to our Country. We endorse and encourage celebration of those who serve our Country. We did not authorize the recording and distribution of the class activities and our policies prohibit the publication of class activities.

I understand everyone's disdain for the public education system but it's been like this since I was in elementary school. That was back in the late 60's and early 70's. I've NEVER voted for a Democrat so their indoctrination apparently didn't work on me and many others. If you have a good home, you don't have to worry about your children being brainwashed because YOU will be offsetting the crap that is fed into them during the day.

I still don't completely label myself as conservative. I think that decent ideas exist on both sides of the fence, but I now can very clearly see the double standard that most liberals have. A lot of liberals, who I thought would support the school's decision on this, are just as upset about it as most everyone else is, because as one told me, "this song reeks to me. I make no apology for calling it what I perceive it to be: indoctrination".
Someone on another forum brought up a good point and I think its one that should be considered by all 'outlets' reporting on this story. That is, that MSNBC blurred out the faces of the children to protect their identities before placing the video on their site. I know, shocked me too that they were capable of a sliver of 'decorum'.

The most definitive book I've read on this subject is by Leonard Peikoff. It is "The Ominous Parallels". It shows the philosophical roots of Naziism — how Hitler simply cashed in on 2500 years of philosophical groundwork laid by Plato, Kant, Hegel, and Nietzsche. Fascinating work, very readable, and a finally satisfying explanation of how a people in a Western, industrial civilization could turn to murdering fellow citizens. Peikoff finishes by pointing out the parallels between pre-Hitler Germany and present-day America, as olddog55 mentions — "present-day" meaning when the book was written — the early 1980s! Its predictive power is impressive.

The school system insists that this video was made in February, not June. In my opinion, the insinuation by the school is that if you disagree about "celebrating" the "black" president during black history month, you must be a racist.

So why do we only see one teacher out there that complied with Obama's memo requiring all school children to sing his praises? Surely there must be more that fell in line…
The outrage over this is ridiculous! I know I am in the minority on this board, but all i see is a huge DOUBLE STANDARD! Elementary school systems have ALWAYS taught important facts and significant dates in the form of music and song. We learned about the honesty of leaders like George Washington and others through song and poems..so why is the mention of President Obama's name any more cause for alarm than previous presidents who make their way into our schools via poetry and music?
Obama is the President of the United States. Deal with it or leave the country! Everything about his election is historical, there is no denying that..so guess what.. His name will come up in civics class every once in a while. How can school systems actually expect to teach kids about this country and government without talking about the president. Whats next? R u going to ban his name from being mentioned in class for fear of your kids being brainwashed? If you home school your kids, r u gonna skip the part about him being the president? I mean how far r you going to take it?
And for your information some of you have no clue as to what the purpose of African American History month is all about. It is anything but racist! African American History is EVERYONES history! It was created due to the fact that the ONLY thing taught in schools years ago about blacks were that we were once slaves and the occasional paragraph about Martin Luther King and Harriet Tubman. Its important for us to know that our ancestors were more than "property". Many of our ancestors contributions were extremly important to they way ALL OF US live our lives today. Only a RACIST would think its unimportant to teach about the significant contributions of other nationalities. Obama's election was a history making event, so it seems to me that it is highly appropriate to include him in this presentation.
The reactions to this are the result of a group think mentality. And posting those kids up on youtube IS a valid issue. Someone should get in trouble for that first, before you even deal with the Obama issue. Songs about Obama may be debatable as to whether or not its acceptable, but posting the pics of kid without parents consent is without question a clear violation.
