CNN Anchor Bombs on ‘Celebrity Jeopardy’

My guess is that all the questions were about ACORN, Van Jones and the National Endowment for the Arts scandals, which CNN obviously knows nothing about.

When I read the tagline, I thought he simply performed poorly. This is appalling. How is it possible for someone who is a media icon to have so very little common knowledge? To get trounced by … a comedian? Does this indicate a mindset of 'the only facts that are important are the facts I choose to report….'
Go Andy Richter!
I C.N.N'd for old wolfie, his face was priceless, as if he lost something he never had.
and after sucking that badly, he qualified for a bail-out??? when the %&*$# did the ultimate meritocracy of Jeopardy! become just another bullsh!t government program for losers???
Actually, comedians tend to do very well on Celebrity Jeopardy. Politicians don't.
Wolf had to actually state FACTS! He is not used to that at CNN they make up there own facts based upon their liberal feelings.
I can't watch the clip here at work but it reminds me of the great sitcom Newsradio with Phil Hartman as the pompous news anchor Bill McNeil. Whenever Dave (the news director) or anyone would mention something of political importance, Bill would appear to know nothing. I can recall this exchange:
Dave: "It's like the Pentagon papers."
Bill: "The what…?"
Some people just suck at thinking when someone else is not doing it for them on a TELEPROMPTER
Ignorance seems to be something Wolfie knows a lot about…
hey Wolf, kinda hard when you actually have to think for yourself isn't it?
HAHHAHAHAaaa What an idiot I never saw anyone go down over a thousand points what a moron.
Maybe we can ge Katie Couric on the show that would be a hoot….
HAHHAAHAAA
There are a few liberals here at work who think that I am just SO partisan for not watching enough CNN/ABC/NBC etc news. (I've made it pretty clear that I watch FoxNews almost exclusively.) I am going to challenge them to a current events quiz of their choice at MSNBC or ABC or wherever, and let them see who is better informed about current events. I'm sure they'd fail outright or lose to me at even a pre-school level MSNBC news quiz.
Yes, yes, yes I think we all knew that Wolf has the deep intellect of a iguana but the important lesson to take from this is that Dana Delaney is still Smokin Hot!
I do hope the parting gifts included more hair gel.
I watched this last night. I love how Alec tried to cover for Wolf by saying something to the effect that Andy was just quicker on the button.
That made my day!
i'll second that.
Somebody fill me in. Do they play for a charity on Celebrity Jeopardy? If so, do you think Wooffie will take money from his charity?
Well that was painful to watch.
ok, I smiled too.
The best part was when Wolf received a "bailout" so he could be included in "Final Jeopardy"
Turd Ferguson, it's a funny name. Where was Connery and Reynolds? What, this wasn't an SNL Skit?
[...] The answer is right HERE. [...]
Yes, they do. According to the article below, Andy Richter was playing for the St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Probably CNN. With the amount of money they're losing these days, they must qualify as a nonprofit…
"We're a nonprofit company. We didn't plan it that way, it just happened."
OK….what were you expecting anyway?
Yeah never mind that he was in the Negative, not just a low score but below ZERO…lol.
OMG LMFAO!! Can we please keep this permanently linked to the front page. Like a daily affermation we should be able to watch this at anytime to feel better about our lives.
And he got slaughtered by Andy Richter. All the better. Andy you are the man.
Now, that's entertainment. I'd love to see our fearless leader give Jeopardy a try. Then again, he'd probably have one of his cronies rig the game.
The answers don't come so easily when you lack the teleprompter. Hmmm. Who else suffers with that problem?
wolf proved what the Real Americans already knew – liberal media hacks are idiots
I wasn't going to comment because I try not to make fun of people, but when he got down to -$4,600 I lost it.
The Germans have a word for it: Schadenfreude
I will go and pray for forgiveness now.
Yeah, this was incredible. I've watched a lot of "Jeopardy" over the years, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone–let alone a celebrity–win as much money as Andy Richter did (a whopping $68,000), and I know I've never seen anyone as far in the hole (-$4600) at the end of Double Jeopardy as Wolf was. And who knew that there was a celebrity mercy rule that if the celebrity is in the red, he or she has the debt wiped out, is awarded $1000 and gets to play in Final Jeopardy instead of being banished like everyone else? I love that Alex said it was a "long-standing policy" to let all celebrities play in Final Jeopardy. Have they ever had to actually implement that policy before? And no matter how much Alex tried to make excuses for Wolf about how fast Andy was on the signaling button, that doesn't explain how Wolf was $4600 down. You can't lose money if you're getting beaten on the signaling button.
Hey Wolf, you owe somebody some money……………………………………………………………………too funny.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Gotta get Charlie Gibson on the show so he can make Wolfe look good.
It appears Wolfie has a lot in commone with Charlie Gibson….
I have only one thing to say about this clip of Wolfie:
HahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahaHAHAHAhahah!
(Or does each 'ha' count as a separate thing?)
ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! He did get a "bailout" didn't he????? hahahahahhaha what dumbsh*t wolfie is!!!!! That is LOL funny, Mr. David!!!! Good luck in beating captain communist nostrilus canyonus for congress…. I will be donating to your campaign!
Bethlehem! He didn't know it was Bethlehem?
Well he does work at Christian hating CNN.
Oh, that just made my day!
Connery: "I'll take 'The Penis Mightier' for $200"
Trebek: "That's 'The Pen Is Mightier,' Mr. Connery"
the answer is, Wolf is a dumbass. CORRECT.
If SNL has any b@lls they will milk this in a skit for the next 10 years!!
Andy "lightning thumbs" Richter
He was Bitchin' on Spy Hunter back in the day
SOMEONE has just got to find the clips of Chris Matthews and Kweisi Mfume from Celebrity Jeopardy, Washington Edition from about 6 years back. I was shocked how stupid these idiots are.
Kweisi couldn't even get the Kwaanza question right, and Matthews performed so badly that Alex Trebeck had to bail him out to stay in the game. And these were just general knowledge questions. Pathetic.
Whats so funny about a Poor Guy losing on National TV?
They gave him "pity money" to stay in the game. So sad.
Third.
Oh, excuse me. "Kwanzaa".
To make it even more hilarious, Celebrity Jeopardy is dumbed down to help the contestants raise money for charities. Imagine the score if they played regular Jeopardy.
bzzzt. you forgot to phrase your response in the form of a question. here's how it works:
the answer is, Wolf is a dumbass.
then you say, "What is ABSOF__INGLUTELY CORRECT, ALEX?!."
We could but Wolf Blitzer up against Katie Couric…. now that would be funny…
"And now back to Jeopardy: the Dumb and Dumber edition"
a lack of bladder control?
That was extremely humiliating. Poor Wolfy.
And some people thought Ted Baxter was fiction….
Infinity.
Ha ha ha ha ha…
From Wikipedia on Wolf Blitzer:
On September 17th, 2009, an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy was aired in which Blitzer finished with $-4,600 heading into final jeopardy, losing badly to comedian Andy Richter who won $68,000 for his charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The incident created a stir when, after airing, CNN President Jonathan Klein suggested that Andy Richter might be a better choice to host The Situation Room than Blitzer[16].
The funniest Jeopardy's have been the ones with celebrities. Most of them aren't smarter than a 5th grader.
It takes a lot more intelligence and general knowledge to be a comedian than to be a newsreader. Can some of you Big Hollywood guys use your influence and get Katie Couric on this show next? This should be a regular feature.
This is perfect! Notice how they gave Wolf a bailout after he was bankrupt so he could keep playing….
The funniest comment has to go to the guy writing about Ted Baxter, the news anchor from the old Mary Tyler Moore show. If you remember that character, Bohemond''s comment had to make you crack up. A spot on comparison. If you are too young to remember, you need to find some old episodes. Classic. Ted, I mean Wolf.
Now that is a Situation worthy of a Room.
Very true, Ben Stein said (back when he had 'win Ben Stein's money') that he hated going against comics, cause they were always fast on their wits and among the smartest contestants.
Richter proves the rule.
Wait, is this the practice round they showed on Conan's show, or the real thing.
well, embarrassing either way.
Rateing don't lie.
It would be funny to see:
Anderson v Wolf v any of the other faces with no name on CNN
btw, reminds me of those classic celebrity jeapordy skits on SNL.
speaking of, if Blitzer ended the evening in negative territory, does that mean his charity LOSES money because of him?
That's what happens when you play with other peoples money.
too funny and how sadly true…..pluses for you ALL
Bottom line is that Andy Richter is a smart guy.
It's like the SNL skits. All that was missing was Sean Connery.
That was seriously embarrassing to watch.
i loved that show.
i loved that show.
Priceless & wonderfully edited.
p.s. – Well done, Mr. Richter!!
I didn't think anyone could ever do worse than Eartha Kitt. I inexplicably stand corrected.
I am actually a former Jeopardy champion, so I'm really getting a kick out of this story. I should apply to host a CNN program.
Incidentally, the best Celebrity Jeopardy player was the late Jerry Orbach, who won a lot of money for an animal rescue charity on Long Island. Cheech Marin is second.
Wolf didn't have a chance, Andy Ricther controls the universe.
"when the %&*$# did the ultimate meritocracy of Jeopardy! become just another bullsh!t government program for losers?"
It's always been that way for celebrities, because they're playing for charity.
Comedians and comic actors rock. I'll never forget Jason Alexander sweeping the nuclear physics category when he appeared on celebrity jeopardy. When he came on a second time, they created a new category "tough nuclear physics" which he may have also swept, I just can't remember.
"I love how Alec tried to cover for Wolf by saying something to the effect that Andy was just quicker on the button."
Yes, losers love to blame their clickers, as if Jeopardy is one big Thumb War. Couldn't possibly be that the other guy's brain was faster.
Just an FYI, I've heard Andy talk politics before, he' s lib just like the rest of them. Glad he won though, loved him on Conan back on the late show.

If Sean Hannity had done badly on Celebrity Jeopardy would you guys even be talking about it?
Probably. You sure as $hit know HuffPo'd be having the field day we're having with El Wolfo, though.
"and after sucking that badly, he qualified for a bail-out???"
Kinda like ACORN, huh?
What a great name wasted on a sack of hot air! Maybe he should change it to "Pussy Capitulator".
I have read several Jeopardy contestants say that a big part of the game is who has the best feel for the timing on the signaling button. Certainly it's possible that Wolf didn't know as many answers as the other two contestants, but it's also possible that he was too early or too late on the buzzer on quite a few answers that he did know.
(And for the record, I am no fan of CNN at all — I think that it has a blatant liberal bias.)
Liberals are so smart.
And that would be wrong too.
As he grasped the totality of his -$4600 Wolf thought to himself "Maybe I was a little too tough on Sarah Palin". The good news is your STILL smarter than Anderson Cooper.
More evidence that ignorance is a qualification for news "reporting".
To do so poorly implies not merely that Blitzer is ignorant, it means he's completely UNAWARE of how ignorant he is; that is, he buzzes in and risks money because he thinks he knows things he doesn't, or because the things he thinks he knows are just wrong.
Poor Wolf. I guess it was all Fox's fault.
Maria Bartiromo's performance on Celebrity Jeopardy! in 2006 was also embarrassing and pathetic. During all of Double Jeopardy!, she only attempted to answer two questions and got one right, finishing with a grand total of $0, which means that she done badly during the regular Jeopardy! round, too. Now, every time I see her on CNBC discussing the stock market and finance, I have to wonder– who's feeding her her lines? There's no otherway she could be that ignorant and be a successful TV business reporter.
that was fantastic.
Why's it wrong? I'm a liberal and I found this hilarious. Wolf agreed to go on the program, and he got slaughtered, seemingly because he is a moron, which makes sense to me, as I've always found him humorless and lacking in insight.
Because he's on CNN this has to be a political thing? You think Andy Richter and Dana Delaney are conservative icons or something?
Wolf Blitzer is a moron who got served. This is funny. Leave politics out of it.
I wasn't going to comment because I try not to make fun of people, but when he got down to -$4,600 I lost it.
The Germans have a word for it: Schadenfreude
I really shouldn't have lafed at that, I feel bad now.
52 Well, CNN does have the awesome Jeopardy dumbass, Wolf Blitzer. I can't believe AP has a post up on that, it was hilarious to watch.
According to Blitzer, the words "Jerusalem," "defendant," and "annotated" each have three e's in them. He couldn't quite get the hang of the category "words with three e's," a BS category if ever there was one.
To the question "this five-letter word refers to an economic crash," he answered "crash." Brilliant!
Oh good, arguing hypotheticals. Sorry, better things to do…

I'm thinking he is the deepest part of the CNN pool….
Doc, Just think of Blitzer as a recipient of the Stimulus plan.
Imagine how well he would have done with a teleprompter.
"I'll take ' Dumb-As-A-Box-Of Rocks' Journalists' for $500, Alex"
here's an idea- ken jennings vs. peter jennings. i woulda paid good money to see that.
everything is political on this site.
"I'll take 'Sanctimonious Liberals' for $1000, Alex.
Blitzer?? I think he should change it to Blitzed.
No wonder Michael Savage refers to him as "the department store dummy." I would love to see his fellow sack of hammers Larry King be exposed like this. And also Rick Sanchez – he is monumentally dense. Hmmmm, there seems to be trend with these CNN hacks.
Too bad Wolf doesn't hear voices like Maureen Dowd. Maybe they could have helped him out.
I watched yesterday. They are having one celebrity show a month for nine months, and the winners will then compete for the top prize. I dislike celebrity editions of game shows and believe that is the main thing that killed off prime time Millionaire, but: the episode was already recorded; Andy Richter seems like an okay guy; and I can tolerate Wolf more than someone like Maher (which would have had me hitting the delete button fast). It was amusing to see Wolf get slaughtered, but it was even better watching Andy go. Sure, the questions are easier, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he's a sharp guy and quick on the signaling device. I also liked the fact that he's a comedian but he didn't act like the class clown like a lot of them do on shows like this.
One thing that perhaps is delusion on my part, but the final answer was Ronald Reagan. The way Wolf wrote it made me do a double take. The way he wrote the name looked a hell of a lot like Reagan's actual signature. I paused the DVR and did an image search on Reagan's signature, and the impression remained. There were some differences, but it was odd how close they were.
Yes, I'm conservanerd enough to know what Reagan's signature looks like offhand.
THIS…IS…just freakin' sad. And, yeah, kind of funny too. I almost feel sorry for the maroon.
Liberals really believe that they are the smartest people in the room. Doh!
Well, I'm sure that Jeopardy is a handmaiden for Big Oil or Big Pharma, right Wolfie?
he was too busy working on his tea bagging jokes. I bet most of the lefts anchors would bomb against regular people.
Wow! I always thought Wolf was a dumb, blowhard! I have been proved RIGHT!
The real Person comes out when things are not scripted or on a teleprompter. Typical liberal, pretends to know everything but in reality knows nothing.
He'd be wearing an earpiece…
you have to be quick on your feet to win jeopardy, (no producer telling you want to say in your ear)

I'd even watch "Exit to Eden" again!
