Did you notice the audience wasn't exactly rolling with laughter? I must say I'm surprised and pleased that Jon Stewart did a skit on this but it is telling that the lib audience he normally panders to was not exactly pleased.

The picture we got from Obama was that of idealistic young lawyers pushing old ladies in wheelchairs towards food. In reality, in addition to its "official" duties, it is an agit-prop group. It is a radical activist organization. It exists to agitate in and on behalf of poor communities for more government.
Hell has frozen over (though technically, the small town of Hell, MI freezes over every winter). Yesterday, I willlingly and enthusiastically gave props to Obama for calling Kanye a Jackass, and today, I am seeing John Stewart bringing things to light, not only about Acorn, but about the MSM in general.

Years and years ago, when the show began (and was actually funny), back when Steve Carell and Steven Colbert were on it, the whole Daily Show schtick was to lampoon the idiocy, pomposity and ignorance of the MSM.

If you actually watched the show, you'd realize that no one is safe from criticism or being outed for their hypocrisy on the Daily Show. He's no doubt a liberal and doesn't try to hide it. With that said, he's certainly more apt to point out flaws on both sides rather than spout agenda driven talking points for either side of the aisle.

I'm glad to see someone else here actually gets it. This isn't about tax fraud, child trafficking, millions of dollars of taxpayer money, a complete lack of morals, or any of the other dozen offenses perpetrated in these videos. This is about one of America's deepest recessions in history that was triggered by an absolute implosion in our housing market. So when watching these tapes you have to consider how many unqualified people did ACORN assist in buying an overpriced home that they couldn't afford to begin with. And the multitude of voter fraud accusations against ACORN across the country now have to be given more serious attention and consideration as well.
I'm glad to see Stewart has finally opened this up to a larger audience, albeit his audience is usually too stoned to get that upset over anything. But oh well!

This was, in a word, awesome. I normally don't like Stewart, but he has earned a slight bit of redemption in my eyes for this.
Word. These lame racists need to ignore that Stewart is against Acorn aiding child prostitution rings and only praise really awesome people like Sean Hannity and that bastion of hip, Griff Jenkins (I used to think he was a dork but then I noticed he wore cool glasses).
I think Stewart is funny whether he's skewering anyone on either side of the aisle. He's clearly left of center on most issues and his targets are generally Republicans, but he does target ignorant Democrats on occasion and its also funny. He's also funny when he's not skewering anybody and just interviewing authors, movie stars, or whoever else.

This is very good news! So many young liberals get their "news" from the Daily Show. I'm sure they were suprised at this report, as I doubt they've seen it anywhere else. I'm hoping after seeing this, they will take a look at other alternative media sources like Breitbart to see what else they've been missing.

Very effective. Jon Stewart is very smart and had the sense to rub his eyes and seize upon a "tipping point" in this story. I disagree with Jon Stewart on 88% of the issues out there, but I give him kudos for doing this. At least he is not living in the "reality" of the legacy media. And who knows, he may even morph into a Dennis Miller over time as he seems to have the ability to listen to conservatives (and learn??) without automatically lashing out!!

I watched a report on CNN where an Acorn spokesperson Scott Levenson says that it was "investigation in the manner of BoraK". BoraK? Are they ALL total idiots? Furthermore, Jon Stewart pokes fun at the pimp getup, but apparently it was accurate enough to catch four ACORN offices in the snare.

He does at times try to inject his biased routine into a serious matter in an attempt to mimic Bill Maher. Who also makes no claim to be an "entertainer" until he realizes his error.
I have seen The Daily Show go MONTHS without declaring, or even insinuating, they weren't being serious. That does, in a sense, brainwash the younger audience.

I'm not ready to sing the praises of John Stewart just yet. Sure he finally got on the right side of the ACORN issue, but he laughed, joked, and belittled the story about the kid getting beat on the bus. He tried to play it off as "it happens to everybody" and I think that's bulls#!t. It was clearly a hate crime and should be taken SERIOUSLY.
It's a shame the left throws around the race card for instances that are benign in nature, but when faced with true racism, it's largely ignored or laughed off.
When something is spot on funny, it should be praised, to do otherwise would be intellectually dishonest. Many of us appreciate his sharp wit, we just don't appreciate it directed at us.

second thing: Stewart is right on here, and to give him his due he has gotten closer to zinging Obama than any other comedian. but did you hear–or rather not hear–his audience? That interview was actually fairly amazing. It wasn't about either Huckabee or Stewart admitting their side was wrong, it was about people understanding how each other's fundamental philosophies guided their moral outlook of abortion, and coming together to find common ground where it could be found.

Well I have been singing the praises of Jon Stewart and will continue to do so.
Is he a flaming liberal who uses his show to promote his philosophy? Sure.
Is he willing to make fun of the Left if they deserve it? Absolutely.
I have posted on this topic before at Big Hollywood and even included some links to past segments. I know it is not a popular opinion, but Stewart is one of the better ones and I believe he deserves recognition for that.
I used to be a big fan of the Daily Show, and gave up on it a couple of years ago, because it seemed to stop criticizing everybody and sat down with the rest at the media-gov't circle jerk. I may start watching it again now. Jon nailed this one on the head.
You have that right, but the facts remain. He has belittled and insulted me because of my beliefs before I ever uttered a negative word about him or liberalism. He has ridiculed an incident where a child was savagely attacked just to take a cheap shot at The Drudge Report. He has misled people about historical events which is in line with liberal revisionist history. He promotes his "philosophy" while he sneers at mine. Just because he's "ok sometimes" doesn't cut it with me. Either he is morally centered or he isn't. And he clearly is a few degrees from true north. He is pompous and arrogant.
I have to disagree with you about criticizing the left when they deserve it. He will only come out and say it when it has become "acceptable" to do so. He will not initiate it even when he sees the problem beforehand. That makes him a partisan hack.

All I can ask for in my comedians is that they make fun of both sides. Stewart mostly makes fun of the Right, but from time to time he will skewer the Left and I appreciate it. Of course, I probably appreciate it so much because most comedians will only make fun of the Right.
In this case, I guess my praise has more to do with the low standards set by his colleagues than his own actions. Nevertheless, I still appreciate it and want to encourage more of it.

Apparently that porn and prostitution are, in fact, victimless crimes when performed by consenting adults and that exploitation of minors would not occur if, say, prostitution were legalized, regulated/licensed, and taxed. Journalism and real news reporters don't sit on a story for several weeks, and then release bits of it – one day at a time in the news cycles, without releasing any information to the public as to how many other videos exist and what they contain. All of this is a part of a cheap journalistic trick to stretch the news life of the story, and thus, allow more time for the hard-right media to weave a fabrication and false link to O. Further, true journalists would never make bizarre video footage depicting a car driving by the capital steps with a pimp extending his arm outside the window waving his stick. Stewart has always been a funny guy, even though he has annoyed me to no end that the majority of his wit has been focused against Republicans and Conservatives. There has been the occasional ditribe against a lib or dem here and there but they were rare.
Unlike the rest of the big media, Stewart seems to have sensed the direction the wind is blowing. Ever since his debate on abortion with Huckabee I've seen him giving more and more time to pointing out absurdities on both sides. If he can find a balance between the two (because we know there are still republicans that deserve his spotlight as well) it will be refreshing.and his audience should grow.

I do admit to watching Daily Show now and then (no it's not an everyday thing with me) and I do find Stewart to be funny. He does seem to be taking more shots at the left lately.
Note how loudly they applauded after his "The More You Wish You Didn't Know" routine. They were hoping he was done.
Which makes me wonder how many people in the audience knew about the story before Stewart mentioned it. Maybe it's "shock and awe" they're expressing: "You mean the conservatives are actually right about something?"
