Oliver Stone Chavez Doc: See Uncle Hugo Ride a Bike

In an interview earlier this week with the L.A. Times, director Oliver Stone said counter-programming the image of Hugo Chavez as a “bellicose dictator-cum-comic opera figure” was one of the goals of this documentary, which makes one wonder if Stone isn’t some kind of right-wing sleeper agent. The score that hits at the 40-second spot is reminiscent of Laurel and Hardy and pretty priceless over the shot of a tubby, middle-aged Socialist clumsily riding a little kid bike straight for a brick wall.
That Stone’s lost his electric touch has been obvious for quite some time and here we see he couldn’t even craft a four-minute trailer into something close to compelling. The score belongs in a South American dance documentary but the true low-light is Stone asking to play soccer with Chavez.
Since Cher started doing infomercials there have been rumors of clinics exclusive to Academy Award winners where your ability to be embarrassed can be completely removed, but this is the first real confirmation of that.
Also not surprising is that in a sea of Latin American thugs, Stone still manages to spew the strongest anti-American quote with that crack about U.S. economic control of the region.

This guy is the worst to ever come out of the Hill School. He is a good movie maker but way too ideological for me to like his movies.

Well, when the government keeps selling off US holdings to the Chinese in order to pay off our massive debts to them, they can pretty much have their flag hoisted wherever they want. It'd sure be nice to have a president with a spine.

Whenever I hear Oliver Stoned talk, I think of the movie "Airplane" when Lloyd Bridges says he picked the wrong day to quit taking <insert name of favorite hallucinogen here>. Some of his movies feel that way.
It's not right to see a bicycle abused in such a degrading way.
How many sycophants did it take to wrench the seat from Chavez's bloated socialist culo when he was done pedaling around like a Russian circus bear? And did they have to nail his feet to the pedals and beat him with a chair to get him to perform?
I'd pay to see this movie only if Chavez rode the bicycle off a cliff.

Oliver Stone new film is coming out at a perfect time for the White House. It goes along with foreign policy regarding Honduras, Israel and now China. Art sure does mimic real life.

The national flag of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) will be hoisted at the South Lawn of the White House in Washington on September 20.
Chinese associations in the United States had applied to hold a ceremony in front of the US President’s residence to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of PRC.
“Many Americans admire China due to the success ……………,” said Chen.

One thing I am sure of after watching that trailer. None of these assclowns is the leader of an 'Exceptional' country. Basically they have been able to achieve wrecking their country's economic standing and stolen the riches of their citizens for personal gain. Sorta like what Obama has in mind. No wonder he gets along with that bunch so grandly. Keep filming Oliver, it is just more evidence pointing to your airheaded leftist agenda. No wonder your movies tank after the first couple.

You could just say that Oliver Stone y a bad joke and that he is looking for some attention in a pathetic way but the fact of the matter is that this idiot is stroking the ego of a Castro-Communist dictator wannabe that is repressing the Venezuelan people and implementing a Castro-like regime. He has taken control of every aspect of the government and using it to convert Venezuela into the next Cuba. He is using that countries oil to finance a Castro-revolution and in the process pursue an anti-American stand creating more problems for the region and for America. What Oliver Stone is doing is simple promoting the Castro-like regime in Latin America…maybe he should move there.
I agree, I dont understand Stone at all. I can see he agrees with the communist, but to laud him after he has shut down, bullied oposion its beyond me. He actually said that he didnt see much oposition to his rule, because ppl didnt go to the anti chavez demonstrations. They are afraid to! ppl disappear, or loose jobs, or other stuff. And i dont need the press to tell me that, I have a couple of venezuelan friends who fled when he took over. Stone lost all objectivity here, and everybody sees that.

Some times is hard to see how wrong a person can be. Last time I heard about Stone's ideas about latinoamerica I discover I don't want to hear about him anymore. I was so offended that I promessed I will never see again another of Stone's movies…I'm sure I took the right decision. I don't want this guy get a single coin from my pocket.

As a Venezuelan I'm furious about this documentary (more like political propaganda). Mr. Stone has NO IDEA what he's taking about!!!! He should move to Venezuela for a few months before saying anything positive about Chavez, he should see the poverty and the pain that us Venezuelans go though on a daily basis. We live in HELL and is extremely irresponsible for a public figure like him to be taking sides without having the facts. Does he know about all the political prisioners that Chavez has in our jails??? or about all the human rights violations that go on in this country? Does he know that is he was in Venezuela he wouldn't be able to make a movie of whatever he wanted unless it was approved by the goverment??? Does he know he he would've never been able to make a movie like W if he was here???? Move to Venezuela, come an join Chavez' promised land to see how you're going to like it you ignorant. He should concentrate on making movies and leave politics to the politicians. I'm never watching one of his movies again!!!!!
