Name this movie: An ace CIA operative, condemned as a rogue and now hunted by the Company, bashes and crashes his way through colorful foreign settings, pursued by heavily armed hit men, while back at Langley headquarters an inscrutable deputy director and one of his top lieutenants are arousing the...

Yup.
Coop was fantastic. High Noon and Fountainhead were favorites.
I am sure many of you have seen this scary ad that several celebs appear in, supporting BHO. It kinda cuts down on which movies I will now watch to mainly John Wayne movies, and possibly Bruce Willis. But pretty much any old Western is more than worthy of belonging to my collection.

A much better version of this was published bu iowahawk. You will find it hilarious.

Thanks, that was f-ing classic
I wonder when the administration will decide when the Constitution gets 'end of life counseling'. After all, it's getting kind of old and feeble.

He's just so thoughtful while out of sight.

Coop was a great character actor. Strong yet simple – circumspect. A star in so many classics, i.e., Billy Mitchell, Beau Geste, Sgt. York and as Lou Gehrig in The Pride of the Yankees, but the Fountainhead was also my favorite. The rare ability to make the role, his own.
I pledge never to watch anything else these morons make or appear in, EVER.
New Obama Slogan in honor of MoveOn.org thug biting off 65 year old man's finger:
YES WE CAN(NIBAL)!!!!

From what I know about the Ramadan fasting, it is for a month and it is only during daylight hours.
The Gun the cigar the Black Hat one hand down his pants, dirty fingernails he's the most politcally Incorrect image I have ever seen, I love it.
Back when men were men and the sheep knew it.
How can you help Obama?
Turn on your conservative parent sand denounce them?
Tell Obama about any guns they may have and what they are hiding from the IRS.
I pledge aligence to Obama and the Earth, to Government and the STate creator of all things great and small.
Sarcasim it's an art form.
Very clever…
"For Whom the Bell Tolls", with the absolutely divine Ingrid Bergman.
Ball of Fire was a hoot.
Thanks Jed. What a bunch of worthless, self-centered jerks "pledging" to make us all better by supporting far left garbage. . . and Iowahawk captured that spirit nicely.
Is that picture from "Along Came Jones" or "The Westerner"?
Gary Cooper, a real mans man. Compare him with the mostly worthless bunch of self absorbed jerks in Hollywood in 2009.
90% of that is platitudes. The "serve the President" part disgusts me!
He is elected to serve US and NOT the other way around.
Gary Cooper and Clara Bow

Let me know if this comparison is a stretch …
Sarah Palin is like Cooper's character in High Noon. The bad men coming after him/her, and he/she tries to rally the townsfolk behind him/her, and they just cower away to let him/her do battle against the evil bad men by himself/herself.
Maybe the only difference is there is no ticking clock in Palin's case.
Emphasis on 'silent.'
I pledge to do what George Washington, John Adams, James Monroe et, al., would do. Work to defeat every liberal politician at the polls that I can!
It requires a certain amount of knowledge and education to understand that concept. It's called second grade.
FDR pulled life support on it with the New Deal back in the 1930's.
He demands to cover up the crosses at Georgetown University, but what ever he can do to pander to special interests, well that's just fine.
Wasn't he also in the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance?
I ain't running away. As soon as she declared she's running for something, she has my support.
Any one who pisses off liberals as much as she does has got to be doing something right.
It's too bad she can't take a group of those liberal elitist on a moose hunt. Can you just see Bawney Fwanks field dressing a moose…..or how about just inviting them up for a hike and leaving them to fend for themselves
at a wilderness hunting camp and then not going back for them…..she could do like so many of our legislators when they get caught in lies and criminal activities….."Oh, it must have slipped my mind that they were up there"………"it was a mistake anybody could have made"……….or… "it was just a poor choice of words when I told them to give me a call when the wanted to come off the mountain, my bad"
YES WE CAN NIBBLE!
There's another big difference: Will Kane did not resign as sheriff before his term was up.
It sure seems like he belonged in it, didn't it? but I think Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Lee Marvin starred. Unfortunately. Gary Died in '61, a year before production. Another classic.
Love Coop! Need more like him…
Thanks a lot for that picture in my head. Barney Franks "dressing" a moose.
Ahh Gary Cooper..another gorgeous man…….sighhhhhhhhhhhh,…………..
What would Gary Cooper say as he watched the Chinese Flag being raised over the White House South Lawn on September 20th?
Robert Jordon (For Whom the Bell Tolls):
"A man fights for what he believes in, Fernando."
John Doe (Meet John Doe):
"A free people can beat the world at anything, from war to tiddlywinks, if we all pull in the same direction."
Thanks for reminding us of "The Westerner " with this screen shot. It should appear on more Top 100 lists. Great movie. Forget The Fountainhead, High Noon is the ultimate American male standing alone against evil movie.
I wonder what everybody thinks of the story on Politico today about the AP news story in which the editors, against the direct wishes of the family and the Secretary of Defense, have insisted on showing the photograph of a dying Marine in Afghanistan.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/26759.h...
It's about time somebody in the Obama administration stood up for common decency.
Didn't the old dude punch the guy first? Can't say there's a winner in this one.
Palin didn't win.
I just saw the headline about Megan Fox/ Hitler and I'd just like to say I'd like to go one day without seeing any references to Hitler. He didnt get this much press in '39.
If you wired together the brain waves of this *stellar* group and harvested the ~energy~ they collectively couldn't flicker a light bulb…
Barney would want to "field inflate" said Moose…
Nor was the lunatic leftist rattletrap of a Democrat party in Will Kane's state waging a smear campaign costing the state and
…………………………………said "sherrif" HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
and continued the Hollywood 1950's tradition of pairing smoking hot babes in their 20's with older mature stars in their 40's and 50's….who can NOT LIKE THAT?
Mark Steyn was subbing for Rush yesterday, and the first caller said he was on the scene there, he said he's the one who found the finger and rushed it to the hospital for reattachment. No way to verify, but he sounded honest.
There were two groups of protesters on opposite sides of the street. One of the Obama thugs crossed the street, got right into the older gentleman's face, yelling at him. Nice to see he picked on some one as able as himself. Liberals are nice like that.
He said the next part happened pretty quick, he didn't see who threw the first punch, then the Obama thug grabbed the old man and yanked him off the curb, into the street, then all hell broke lose, and it was over almost before it started.
The A.P. clearly "jumped the shark" long ago in regards to it's own credibility…I routinely check the wire origin of a "news" story before assigning any credence to it…that's sad…
Don't do that, it would be an insult to Cooper's memory.
Compare the current jerks to Ted Kennedy. That's more fitting. Living largess at the expense of others.
ZERO comparison, none, nada, zilch, bupkiss…
Nothing. The Americans of Cooper's era wouldn't let America go so deep in hock the Chi-comms that they'd have to resort to this to keep the credit lines open.
Sgt. York is a contender also. How's that line go? A soldier asks him how he pulled it off considering his moral objection to violence? "I didn't go out to kill 'em. I just stopped them from killing."
Common decency is a relative term. It doesn't mean the same to liberals. To them it means traveling the world and apologizing for all the horror the US inflicted on them. Like the highest living standard in human history. Saving Europe from itself twice. Spending 40 years going toe to toe in the cold war. Etc.
This is what we get with the MSM spending 8 years encouraging the lunatic left to use the word.
He was hilarious in Ball of Fire. Also loved him in The Westerner with Walter Brennan
While I don't object to showing the graphic cost of war, the AP should definitely have acquiesced to the wishes of the family. At least as far as I can tell, most major papers didn't run it in their print editions, and decent websites have been blocking it online as well. So the AP can wear the disgrace of this one alone for a while, at least.
Andrew – me pledge too!
Jack – dang, that is excellent! how could I forget Beau Geste or Pride of the Yankees. Since you got me thinking about it, The Wreck of the Mary Deare was another of interest.
While they're at it, they should change the national anthem to Pink Floyd's "The Lunatic is in my head!" Resurrecting Adolph for anything is the ultimate of bad taste.
Speaking of Hitler…

You'll love this one….

Normally I stop debating when comparisons to Hitler and the nazis come up. (I never capitalize the first letter of mass murderers.) But Rush had a semi-valid point last week or the week before.
The nazis didn't come to power campaigning on the Holocaust, the destruction of Europe and world wide war. That's where they ended up. He was commenting on how the nazis started out, as the national socialist party, campaigning on disassembling free markets and capitalism, and the state taking care of every German's needs.
I've only seen a few Gary Cooper films. Ball of Fire I thought was a hoot (and ya gotta love Miss Stanwyck) and I also liked Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, which might be the first movie to use the word "pixilated." Douglass Dumbrille who plays the villain (for lack of a better word) also played a similar slimy role in three Marx Brothers films: A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, and The Big Store.
I should probably check out The Fountainhead one of these days.
It doesn't just work for guys, either. Older men are hot.
She references Hitler in a very fleeting and casual manner. It's not worth the press.
When I was a kid in the 50s and 60s, to call someone Hitler or a Nazi still packed a lot of power. It doesn't anymore. Too much time had gone by and Hitler is now, to many younger people, just some 'evil dude' from 'back in the day'. To many others, he is just a comic figure to be parodied.
Weird world.
I remember when I was in third grade, we thought it was against the law to draw a swastika. So naturally we did when ever we thought no one was looking.
I do remember back in the mid to late 1960's when I was young. The War was a lot more fresh in people's minds. Of course, back then the VFW's and American Legions were some of the central community organizations. Hollywood was still cranking out American hero movies and TV shows. Hogan's Heroes, Rat Patrol.
Gary Cooper would string up all the Democrats wanting Obamacare
This one is an absolute master piece. Simply brilliant.

Its true. We've trivialized it to a point where the lessons learned are literally being forgotten. I struggle to elaborate on this point because the rhetoric is just so sad.
And the Ramzi-Al-Kabooms of the world still hate us anyway.
To ACORN: I'd give you the finger, but you'll probably BITE ME!
His review of the Avatar trailer IS pretty funny, though.
The world's gone mad. Hollywood is making a 'Triumph of the Will' video to turn our children into little Brownshirts – and now a soap actress (Patricia Mauceri of "One Life To Live") has just been fired because as a devout Christian, she refused to have her character (also a devout Christian) sanction the homosexual lifestyle.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,546720,00.htm...
I'd be scared to actually bite off a finger. Too many blood-borne diseases, but hey, the leftie probably had them already anyway.
No, no one really "wins" something like this, but you gotta admit, biting the finger off of an old guy at a health care rally/protest event really makes the biter's side look like the savage, unhinged lunatics they are.____Medicare apparently paid for the finger re-attachment, so they're not great, but not as bad as Obamacare would be. (Can't imagine a digit would be re-attachable after several days' wait.)
That's the problem with making anti-heroes glamorous. Hitler is seen as just crazy instead of an evil guy, 'cause the students all know he was a failed artist (like most of THEM!) Che rode a cool motorcycle and slummed his way across S. America. Rad!
Evil is no longer rejected, good is no longer desired, and most people in their twenties believe morality is completely relativistic.
They are ripe for the coming misery.
There's Gary Cooper and then there's these Self-Absorbed Ninnies. No wonder the culture is in the toilet. Thank God for old movies.
The #1 Movie Star of All Time. Tall, lanky, gorgeous, goofy, and republican. What more could you possibly want? No one will ever compare.
That's Cole Harden from 'The Westerner'. Melody Jones' hat was much taller!
Obama reportedly issued a "harsh" rebuke today directed at Israel for its continued housing projects in Israeli "settlements". The article is on Yahoo's homepage. "The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued settlement expansion and we urge that it stop," says White House bitch Robert Gibbs. None of this surprises me considering left-wingers' penchant for antisemitism and racism. Hitler was a leftist piece of crap after all. I say every one of the Inglourious Rightist Basterds (sic) refrain from sleep until a hundred liberals (apiece) are made to wet their pants with fear–fear of the glorious Rightist Revolution! Viva Israel!
Yep, you're are right, I sit corrected. Wasn't Jack Palance the one who played Liberty Valance?
I saw that movie decades ago, so I'm not sure of it.
I do remember the ending though. At the very end, Jimmy Stewart is besieged by guilt for killing Valance, and debates leaving politics. Then John Wayne explains Stewart couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat, and he did it. Stewart gets his confidence back and strides into the meeting.
Roll credits.
Apparently the young leftist got "all in his personal space"…not a safe place to *get* if it's me and/or many like me…besides who the BITES OFF a finger? I've been in lot's of fights…mainly when I was much younger.
You are obviously a fine young lady, a credit to yourself, your parents, and your country…
THAT was fabulous! Im spreading it around!
You oughta see a newspaper from Mexico…sheesh, severed heads, blood, bodies…and that just the sports page!
not really, but they are that gory, it's sickning…
We've never lived under an ideologue this bent on single party domination…socialized healthcare is THE pillar that Euro-land is built on…the sheep there are trapped. Even so-called conservatives MUST supply HUGE government spending, extract high taxes and must embrace socialst-wacko enviro policy.
It's that or wander the political desert.
Enviromentalism is the new cover for pure socialism. The unmasking of the ultra-radical Van Jones illuatrates the ideological depravity that Obama represents and given the opprotunity he would assume as much centralized power as possible. Is Obama Hitler, of course not. Is he a maniacle socialist "true believer"? Absolutely. Can he be trusted to act lawfully? That remains to be seen…
The key is to watch them slowly peel off their Obama stickers…I park in a huge garage at U.T. El Paso and I'm seeing less Obama crap…maybe wishful thinking…
I wonder when the administration will decide when the Constitution gets 'end of life counseling'? After all, it's getting kind of old and feeble. ***sarcasm off***

Cooper had more charisma in his little toe than all the Pitt's, Affleck's, and Will Smith's put together.
