Languishing in liberal land
Despite their control of all three branches of government, this has not been a good summer for liberal Democrats. Their health care "reform" bill, which has yet to be fully written, much less fully funded, has been exposed at town-hall meetings as a power grab over life and death with the strong possibility that "do no harm" will be replaced by a utilitarian approach to treatment.

Cheney For President? Slim Odds But Not Impossible
With this being the end of summer and Congress still on recess, maybe James Taranto was stuck for a topic when he used his Wall Street Journal column to float Dick Cheney's name as a possible Republican candidate to challenge Barack Obama in 2012. Dick Cheney?

A Call to Arms for Parents Upset About Obama’s Public School Address
President Obama’s co-opting of what is, for many, the first day of school — not only taking unprecedented access to 50 million impressionable minds but pushing a curriculum turning children’s hearts towards Obama — has riveted the attention of conservative parents nationwide.

Barbara Stanwyck – a great actress from a great era of cinema.
I need help on a couple of things
First: Grand Theft Auto: the Ballad of Big Gay Tony.
Um what? I can't quite understand how stealing cars relates to a gay man. How many versions of a car stealing game are there? Ok I'm not a gamer but this makes no sense to me.
Second: I heard a commercial for some Eye lash medication. If that wasn't enough one of the side effects is permenant darkening of the eyes. OK wow. How do scientists sumble across this? What kind of eyelash problems do people have? Is this a case of inventing the disease to fit the medicine?
CHARLIE UPS THE RACE-CARD ANTE
First it was Gov. Paterson. Now the dean of New York's congressional delegation has played the race card — and just as the governor did, he's using President Obama to do it.
Rep. Charles Rangel said Tuesday that "bias" and "prejudice" toward Obama are fueling opposition to health-care reformhttp://www.nypost.com/seven/09032009/news/regiona...
/I have said before Hussein Obama has set race relations back 50 years
morning, Scott. If you can't account for it, I can't either (just kidding!) Seriously, so often when you look at old photographs, people look, well, different. it seems in this era of digital photo-shop wizardry, we could see more of what some of these actresses of yore might look like if they were in modern hairstyles and fashion. It would be an interesting project, no doubt.
I can't help with the second, but the first…by this point in the franchise, "Grand Theft Auto" is the name of the franchise even though you do a LOT more than just steal cars in the game (carjacking, mugging, gunrunning, shootouts, armed robbery…good times). Kind of like how the third movie didn't take place on Elm Street, but it was still called "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3…"
As for "Gay Tony," in the expansion, you follows the exploit of a new protagonist, Luis Fernando Lopez, a member of the Northwood Dominican Drug dealers and the personal bodyguard of Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince.
And I play these games for the same reason I enjoy a movie like "Heat" or "Taken." It's fun to be a "bad" guy once in a while.
My earliest memory of Barbara Stanwyck was the "The Big Valley" as Victoria Barkley, the tough, honest, stout hearted matriarch.
But then I learned she could play a mean, nasty broad: Double Indemnity. Thank God, it was an act, because she had a face you would trust, and would've been hell on wheels, if she'd gone into politics.
She was good.
Unfortunately not fully (well) written or fully funded, let alone read or understood, didn't stop the "stimulus bill" of the "cash for clunkers" program.
Oh Brother! Barbara Stanwyck was one of the most effortlessly sexy women who ever lived and just one helluva actress. Nobody during her era (or since for that matter) had her range and ability to inhabit a character. She could do evil sexy tramp ("Double Indemnity"), good sexy tramp ("Ball of Fire"), tough-as-nails career woman ("Meet John Doe") or embittered gal-with-a-past ("Clash by Night" or "Stella Dallas") with equal style and finess. You hate her guts at the beginning of "Sorry, Wrong Number" but are rooting for her to make it by the end of the film. (She doesn't.) From all reports one of the most professional and cooperative actresses Hollywood has ever produced who always showed up on time and treated cast and crew with unfailing courtesy and respect..
admittedly I'm not a gamer. But if it makes sense to the target audience, so be it.
as for the eyelash stuff, apparently it is a topical solution. My guess would be like rogaine and propecia. But it seems to be safe for women to use, as they appear to be the target audience.
I don't understand the trauma with bad eyelashes. but I also don't understand the trauma for a man being bald either.
Obama wants our students to, Help Him.

After reading this, is it any wonder why this country is worse off now than we were last Christmas? And BP just found a huge deposit of oil in the Gulf of Mexico……WTF is this administration doing to us??
"I PLEDGE" – one of the most frightening videos I have ever seen. Worse than the brainwashed black kids marching and chanting in a school room.
http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_13249171?_requestid...
Who put this thing together? Aston Kutcher? Who are these robot flunkies he has in there? Who is the white tattooed freak who kisses both his arms and pledges himself to Obama? Who is the chick with Kutcher who pledges herself to be "a servant to Obama"? Who is the guy who vows/suggests that he will only flush the toilet after a dump and not a whizz? It's a freak shiw that they wanted to make school kids sit down and watch and absorb.
I anxiously await the moment that this presidency is over and done with. Until then, I beware everything Obama.including that bitch who lives next door to me with the "Obama Momma" bumper sticker on her car – the same chick who was arrested for DUI recently.

And our standard of living too if he has his way.
One of my favorite actresses. What is curious is she had a show-biz friendly name, Ruby Stevens, yet it was changed.
WOO-HOO!! Barbara Stanwyck, now SHE was a lady. Double Indemnity, Sorry Wrong Number, etc. etc. are among the silver screen's greatest. Most of today's oversexed and under-talented (and under-clothed) leading ladies can't hold a candle to her.
She may not have been the most gorgeous of the 30s-50s starletts, but she was the ballsiest — while still being 100% feminine. And that is highly attractive to real men.
When people talk about the great actresses of the golden age of film, a lot of the time, they bring up Katharine Hepburn and Bette Davis. Both were great actresses, but in my humble opinion, Stanwyck blows them both away. She made it seem so effortless.
Personally, my family is not affected by this, I put my daughter in Catholic school starting in kindergarten. Having been a product of the public school system, there was no way in hell I was going to let them sink their fangs in my girl.
But otherwise, I don't see the big fuss. Yes it was a truly stupid move by the administration, could be considered creepy, though that's no longer surprising. It would be a surprise to watch them do something right.
I just don't see school kids even paying much attention. "Class, instead of math class we're going to watch a video in the gym." "Cool! NO MATH!"
True, some kids are zombies and would suck it right up, but odds are they're already zombies courtesy of their liberal zombie parents.
I'm not condoning any of this, but I can't see a reason to get in a twist over it.
I miss flagging myself daily. I can still send emails, but it's just not the same.
I thought it was Donna Reed.
Charlie Rangel the tax cheat, chairman of the Way and Means committee, the man who is stiffening up tax loop holes to snare the evil rich, stated the reason that we don’t support Barry’s Marxist schemes, is racism. See how easy that is, you excuse any behavior because of race. By the way, the tax laws that he writes don’t apply to him because of his race, and all that he does is for the children.
On behalf of the 45% or so of non-liberal New Yorkers, I apologize for both Rangel and Patterson.
And Hilary Clinton, Chuck Schummer, Maurice Hinchey, Elliot Spitzer, both houses of the state legislator, Mayor Bloomberg, the NY. Mets, the NY Jets, squabbling over ground zero, and the never ending list of rouges.
On the other hand we do have the Catskill and Adirondack mountains, the Finger Lakes, Niagara Falls, the St. Lawrence seaway, Thousand Islands, the Yankees, the Giants, and Buffalo chicken wings and potato chips!
I would GOOGLE….."The Obama" and "Healthcare"……then visit the site of each result ……copy and paste into the email……to forward to flag@whitehouse.gov………along with the url as subject line…….it was so fulfilling to get to stick it back to those "idiots".
Donna was great, but this happens to be Barbara. Fret not though, Ed:

Sadly, they closed down that email address. I guess there was just way too many fishy things going on in America. And far too many patriotic Americans like myself who gladly supplied them tips multiple times a day.
I will endeavor to persevere.
I loved Donna Reed in It's A Wonderful Life. One of my favorite all time movies. I watch it at least once between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She especially knocks me out in the final scene, where the entire town turns out to help out "the richest man in town." The look on her face defines the holiday season for me. Unmitigated joy.

Broun warns of dictatorship
MADISON – U.S. Rep. Paul Broun is again raising the specter of Democrats turning the United States into a totalitarian state.
Broun, R-Athens, apparently has not changed his belief that President Obama may be a fascist since he made similar remarks in Augusta in November and then in an Associated Press interview.
He told a meeting of the Morgan County Republicans on Wednesday night that Obama already has or will have the three things he needs to make himself a dictator: a national police force, gun control and control over the press.
http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/090309/new_48...
She was great in that, no doubt. I think I first became aware of her in "The Benny Goodman Story" playing opposite Steve Allen. My dad was a huge Goodman fan and I was a huge Steve Allen fan so I clearly remember that movie. By all means see it if you haven't. Later, I really got to know her on "The Donna Reed Show" with Carl Betz, Shelly Fabres, and Paul Peterson in a kind of "Mother Knows Best" early 60's style sit-com. Of course my last remembrance was she filled in for a season as Miss Ellie on "Dallas."
Just saw this in Politico: "Both McKay and Brand said they expected President Barack Obama to replace Fouratt, much as he’s done with other U.S. attorney holdovers from the Bush administration." Anybody else remember that getting rid of the previous administration's attorneys was a source of relentless bashing for Pres. Bush? Not a peep from the media when this administration does it–the examples of media bias are endless!
Being from Philadelphia, we have plenty to apologize for too…..
The mayor's name is Nutter for chrissakes!!!!!
Kennedy memoir calls Chappaquiddick 'inexcusable'
NEW YORK (AP) – Sen. Edward M. Kennedy wrote in a memoir being published this month that he made terrible decisions after the 1969 car crash that killed Mary Jo Kopechne, but said he was never romantically involved with her and was haunted by that night for his entire life.
In it, Kennedy said his actions on Chappaquiddick Island on July 18, 1969, were "inexcusable." He said he was afraid and "made terrible decisions" and had to live with the guilt for more than four decades.
Kennedy drove off a bridge into a pond. He swam to safety, leaving Kopechne in the car.

He may be sorry he asked for it. My daughter, 16 years old, is already complaining about having to pay back the trillions already borrowed on her dime.
I know what conventional wisdom has to say about the political leanings of young people. And I am awed by the exceptions in what I see. There is hope!
Not a peep when Clinton fired them all, including the one investigating White Water. Funny how the replacement wasn't much interested in it.
I'm sure he was remorseful. It most likely cost him the White House. It's not fair to keep American royalty from the preordained destiny.
Man that Barbara Stanwick – I'll go wherever she wants to take me
My local public access station has a program with Tom Hatton hosting really old movies. Last week he showed "Lady of Burlesque," which has long been on my list of 'so bad, it's good' movies. Stanwyck is terrific in it, but it also has Michael O'Shea, Pinky Lee, and the wonderful Iris Adrian in the cast. Good fun.
Health care costs money; real rights don't – Kevin O'Brien
With all due respect to Cassandra Barham of Cincinnati, whose personal desire for health insurance is perfectly understandable, and to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, whose confusion is not: Health care is not and cannot be a "right."
Barham drew boos at a town hall conducted Tuesday by Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown when she said, "You know, health care is a right."

OK – I don't know how I missed this when it first hit back in January of this year.
Where is the outrage? I had to see it on Drudge in some SLC newspaper.
Has it been laughed off and dismissed? A deluded pig in Trader Joe's the other day – an employee there – came out of the men's room and then when he saw me out there waiting, he went back in and flushed the toilet. I asked him, "So if I wasn't here, you wouldn't have flushed the toilet?" His reply – "It was only urination." That was a week ago. Now I see this "Pledge" video and i know where he got the idea. I called and complained last week, but I didn't ID him by name. Today I will.
This is the ideological war that Obama has amped up in America. The flushers vs the non-flushers. Oddly, it is the flushers who are not willing to shit our country away vs the non-flushers who want to live in their own world of piss.
I condemn Obama and every shit-faced 'movie star'.for appearing in that thing, particularly the far-out pigs and bent-brains with the extreme wacko stuff. Such vapidity. I'd like to kick that Aston Kutcher back to his scumbag Hell that he came from.
Who here is ready to be a "servant" to that psychopath Obama?
Hahahahaha !
Obama Clearly Not 'The Great Communicator'
As President Obama's approval numbers continue to fall, (a Rasmussen poll shows his public support down 19 points since the start of the year), pundits are beginning to ask why. After all, approval ratings rise and fall, but the rate of Obama's decline in popularity is unprecedented for a newly elected president.

/I knew this a year ago…Are they finally waking up ?
This is my reply to Mr. Nolte's thread from yesterday about PC villains. I posted it there but it'll probably get lost in the shuffle.
This came up in another thread several months ago and I expressed my opinion that the iconography of World War II, whether we're talking about music or uniforms or even the architecture, simply lends itself to movies. Take Where Eagles Dare for example. Could you really do that movie today in the Middle East? Eastwood and Burton couldn't exactly pass themselves off as Arab terrorists and the hot blonde SOE agent would have to be covered from head to toe to avoid suspicion. And, IMHO, when you're dealing with an enemy that would simply blow you (or himself) up, it sort of limits your options.
Now I'm not excusing anyone. A creative writer who does his homework could make it happen. It's just that many of the conventions we normally associate with war movies would have to be thrown out the window.

Liberals love to bash Glenn Beck BECAUSE he speaks the truth.
We will not be allowed to touch the Gulf oil, BUT we sent 2B to Brazil so THEY could develop their oil fields. And, Obama will probably let the ChiComs take the oil in the Gulf in exchange for eating up more of our debt.
I believe that you are absolutely right. My (somewhat paranoid) view is that this is a maneuver cooked up by White House tacticians to goad conservatives into overreacting. The Dems can then clutch a hand to their collective chests in their best Perils of Pauline fashion and gasp about how the Right is so "mean-spirited" and "anti-child." It will also serve to divert attention from grown-up issues like health/death care. Everyone should take an even strain on this and wait to see what happens.
My husband's been on this "if it's yellow let it mellow" kick recently. Mostly over concerns regarding water consumption. It's OK, but only UP TO A POINT. (He's NOT an Obamafan.)
I'll tell him about this video, though, and that should end things.
Exactly. I remember Nancy Reagan's "just say no" campaign when I was in school, and I think we had to see some sort of related video then. People overestimate the effect of authority figures on youth. We couldn't have cared less. I think Obama's just going to give a "stay in school and study" speech, which, considering that's what the kids are already doing, isn't exactly going to cause an ideological firestorm. I'm all for parent-sanctioned hooky-days (I remember vividly my mom taking me to see "Foul Play" on a day I just didn't feel like going to school) but I think this umbrage is a little overwrought.
Read a bio of hers earlier this year ("Stanwyck," by Axel Madsen)…very entertaining and informative, but, alas, I came away with the sense that she didn't have a happy life, and was not a good mother. She had a wretched, orphaned childhood (mother killed by streetcar, dad takes off shortly after, shuttled from relatives to foster homes)–that steeliness was no act! Amazing success but two failed marriages. Worked like a fiend, a staunch political conservative (the author clearly doesn't have a high opinion of HUAC or the MPA), but I was left with the sense that she was a very sad woman. The book is a good primer on the old studio system and the rough transition many had to the rise of television, not to mention the eternal difficulty of being an aging actress. (some things have never changed)
What true New Yorker apologizes for ANYTHING?? ;-D I grew up there. Papaya King Franks. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Central Park under that gossamer sheet of the first snow…
I'm listening to Mark Steyn at the moment, who's subbing for Rush, and he's making a ruckus over it. And while I don't think its all that big a deal, he does have a very valid point.
He mentioned a trip to Iraq (not sure when he went) and said when he was touring elementary schools, every class room had a empty square on the walls, where the paint had faded around portraits of saddam.
He also got a translation of the elementary grade first reading books, the equivalent of our Dick and Jane series. In it the characters praise the benefits of learning to read and write so they can sing and write praises of the glory of saddam.
His point is that's the kind of thing that happens under third world dictators, and not in first world schools.
A DUI? Yes she can!
The polite kind from upstate.
Thanks, maatkare that is interesting stuff and the book sounds like a good read.
Movie Idea:
Working Title: The Religion of Pieces
Synopsis: Eccentric Inventor, Government Agent and Billionaire Philanthropist get together to fight their own War on Terror. Whenever possible, they create situations where terrorists inadvertently blow themselves up before they can harm others. Muslim extremists are also subliminally coaxed into "dying for Allah" by swallowing golf balls, breaking into dangerous animal enclosures at the local zoo, subjecting themselves to degrading methods of self-asphyxiation and so on.
No one wants to walk into a bathroom and see a bowl full of piss and toilet paper.
I was at the doctors office on Tuesday and that is what I came across when I went to use the restroom there.
If people want to use indoor plumbing, then they need to flush away their waste product be it liquid or solid. If folks want to be really efficient, let the men pee in the sink or guys and gals can head outside where the greatest whizzes occur (for men).
"never romantically involved with her."
So why did it take him an hour and 15 minutes, at least, to get from their party to the dike bridge? He could have circled Chappaquiddick Island 10 times in that space. His whole story is a lie and not even remotely a good lie.
Robert Wagner was fooling around with Barbara Stanwyck
He looked like a small boy next to her. She was 23 years older
I think a lot of the message will be lost on the kids, sure. I like the idea, you know, the President gives a positive address to students about studying hard, dream big, rah, rah. That's fine. But the fact that it's coming from Obama gives me the heebie geebies. Especially when some of the recipients are high school seniors, who are at or close to voting age. Things are rotten in the state of Denmark.
I'm not going to be as critical, (I don't know your next door neighbor) but yeah the video is creepy, especially the end. I think the celebrities in the video have good intentions, but don't have a thought about their "pledges" beyond the superficial. Some of the pledges are nice, but generic little things that anyone can agree with. Some are harmless. But no one makes a real substantial pledge. These people have money. I want to hear a pledge to help a young entrepreneur get a small business off the ground. Help someone get a small business employing say just ten or twenty people running. That would be a really good pledge.
But the creepy part….Pledging to be a servant to the president. First, he is our servant. And pledging servitude to one person is really scary. That's what makes dictators. They don't get the difference between pledging allegiance to the Republic and the values and idea of America and pledging servitude to an individual, especially the president. Whether he is conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat, doesn't matter who the president is, he is the one of the last persons to pledge servitude to, he has too much power not to be questioned. Pretty scary…
I think Washington and Lincoln portraits are different story, being long since passed away. I do remember a portrait of Kennedy in the office, with his line about "Ask not what your country can do for you…." But I imagine there were a lot of them following his assassination.
First the Obama wanted you to report your neighbors to flag@whitehouse.gov …..
Now, the Obama wants to address our children at school …..
Will The Obama require children to report their parents if they exhibit UnObama-like thoughts or actions …..
After The Obama Youth report their parents, will the parents go to the ovens or the re-education camps? …..
Didn’t this happen before in …….? …..
xxxxxxxxxx
NOTE TO DEMOCRATS …..
Sometimes when you win ….. you really lose ….. see you in 2010.
I agree that this kind of behaviour is completely inappropriate when done in public places. You would be surprised (I hope!) at how many times I walk into a women's restroom somewhere and it is FILTHY. You would think that with all the cleaning up most women do after their kids and husbands, they would know better and act differently. But no! They can be the worst slobs. TP on the floor, pee on the seats, toilet not flushed… I figure they're Obama voters.
My mom is a teacher (fifth grade) and she didn't believe me when I told her that Obama was going to speak to all the school kids. Then I told her some of the questions and she was shocked. She told me that many of her class wouldn't be able to grasp some of the concepts of the questions.
If this was 90 seconds of "have a good year", "mind your teachers" and "do your homework" I would have no problem with that. But this is the Cult of Personality of our New Messiah reaching out to the next generation.
You know, when people ask me who my celebrity crush is, (among others) I say Barbara Stanwyck circa 1941 when she did The Lady Eve and Ball of Fire. Considering I'm only 26, I still can't account for that!
I posted a photo of her on Facebook and a friend said she looked like a girl I had a thing for in film school. I didn't see the resemblance.
Sometimes on YouTube, I'll pull up a clip of her singing and dancing from a movie called Lady of Burlesque. She even does a couple of splits! (The DVD is a public domain piece of crap so when I saw it I could barely understand the muddled dialogue.)
And of course, Double Indemnity, which I'm still trying to get a friend to watch with me one day.
That would work
How about Charles Barron?
I'm from upstate. Blame that one on the libs in NYC.
William I too remember seeing for the first time, Miss Barbara Stanwyck in reruns of "The Big Valley" in the early 70s, as the tough & honest matriarch. Lee Majors credits her for teaching him a lot about show business, while on the set of the show. I have been a big fan of hers ever since.____A couple of other movies I liked her in where in an Elvis movie " Roustabout," the film you mentioned "Double Indemnity," as well as, "Meet John Doe", "Ball of Fire," and a movie whose name escapes me at the moment she starred in with Henry Fonda. Oh I almost forgot, "Titanic."____You're correct I think she was great.____ __
"The road to hell was paved with goo intentions." This video is very creepy. So creepy that I can't stomach watching the whole thing.____Ashton Kutcher is perhaps the worst sitcom actor I have ever seen. I'll give him this, he seems smart enough to get behind the camera, cause in "The 70s Show" he plain sucked in front of it, IMHO
I'm not blaming you Ed. I'm from NJ and we used to hear about him from time to time. Barron is quite the racist rabble rouser, wanting to slap a white person for his mental heatlh and such. BTW I've been to upstate NY, Cooperstown, and it is beautiful!
Barbara Stanwyck's ability to move effortlessly, from The Good (Annie Oakley), to The Bad ( Double Indemnity), and then to The Funny (Ball of Fire, Meet John Doe, and The Lady Eve) make her still enormously watchable, and preferable to what passes for female talent. today.
Why I bet she kept her fellow actors on their toes during the filmng of The Thonbirds, where she portrayed strength and vulnerability with authority.
Now, that's talent and prrofessionalism.
Why would anyone take advice from those people?Hundred dollar tee shirts, million dollar homes, cars, clothes, jewels etc..What the HELL do they know(or remember)what it's like to pay taxes AND scrimp up enough extra money to pay a bill?I have a solution….LET THE HOLLYWOOD CROWD finance, supplement and pay for IN FULL..this health care bill and any OTHER proposal this administration puts forth.I for one..AM TAPPED OUT!!! get the frigg out of my pocket and let me live in relative peace.I can not afford one more public program.400.00 gross p/wk does not go far but it would go further if I could actually KEEP IT!
No problem, was just giving you a quick pith response. I'm about an hour and ten minutes south west from Cooperstown, in Broome County.
Cooperstown is great, been there many times. There's lots of beautiful places upstate. You should check out the Delaware Gap, and the Beaver Kill – one of the best trout streams in the country.

You won't like many answers, and a lot of it won't make any sense to you, but that's because they're liberals. I could no longer take their devotion to irrationality and illogic.
Oh, I disagree, he's a very good communicator. His problem is what he's trying to communicate.
As the bean counters used to explain it to us in engineering, they're obviously "leveraging their synergy."
They think they found a way to wring another dime out of an existing revenue stream.
Thank you, Think Right. I 'm also one of those who knew ALL THIS a year ago because I did my homework and read all I could find about Sotero/Obama.
MAYBE, soon, we'll hear a giant,, collective popping sound as more Americans jerk their heads out of….ummmmmmm, their politically correct duffle bags!
Spend the day introducing him to the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. Both texts are on the internet. I used to do that with my daughter on the 4th of July.
Vanity Fair has just demonstrated its usual honest, fair and evenhanded coverage of Americans who aren't rabidly leftwing, don't hate America and love God. Sigh. Which means VJ just published its interview with Levi – the mullet-headed, baby-abandoning, high school dropout son of a meth-dealing mother from Wasilla. Big surprise, Levi trashes Sarah Palin.
After you finish retching, here is 'Conservatives4Palin' site's rebuttal to the VF article.:

I have been to the Delaware water gap in NJ a few times as well as eastern PA. However left NJ last October to stay with my folks in WA state. My father is a retired USN submariner and he and mom retired out here in the peoples republic of Washington. The mountains, Olympic and Cascades never fail to awe and amaze. One place I would like to see in NY state would be West Point. I regret that I've never been there although it was not too far a drive from Central Jersey. Oh well when I get back there some other time I will make it a point. So much to see in this beautiful USA, not always enough time. It was nice chatting with you. I got to get ready to go to the Raiders @ Seahawks preseason game with my old man. See you later on this site, as I go here often and have seen some of your previous posts. Take care EdSki.
What we call mountains in New York, don't really match up well against Washington.
If you do make it back, you should check out West Point. I've never gone, I doubt my wife or daughter would be interested, but my brother in law has gone several times. He says they have huge models of past battles with small toy soldiers, demonstrating great advancements in battlefield tactics through out history. That does sound cool.
All that effort, money and time, spent (invested) by Vanity Fair, and yet, amazingly, my opinion wasn't changed?
Palin is a politician to keep your eye on, and not just because it's easy on your eye.
I predict she's going places.
Our congressman, John Yarmuth said he is ready to lose his seat when he hoists single payer upon us.
Glad to see that Our Beloved leader has congressmen ready to fall on their sword for the ONE!
Hope Prince Harry Reid is ready to do the same when he presses the Nuclear Button.
Just to lighten up a bit b/c I found that video so bothersome and b/c the electricity just came back on in my neighborhood after 3.5 hours-
John and Ken Show of KFI – they were railing about the disgusting men's room at the station and invited people to call in with their own disgusting experiences. A guy called – a crew member on a photo shoot waiting to use the portable restroom there. This petite model comes out and he goes in and see, unflushed, a huge turd just sitting there and he was aghast – "That came out of her?!?! All it needed was an outboard motor and a sponsor!" He got that line out and both J&K began to die laughing uncontrollably. This was a few years ago, but I never forgot it.
Has anybody seen this one yet? An Obama supporter bit off part of a protester's finger at a health care rally. I wonder how they're going to try to spin that one in their favor.

Barbara Stanwyck did lots of good films of all kinds.
Director Frank Capra did a number of fims with her and in his autobiography, THE NAME ABOVE THE TITLE, he had nothingbuyt kind words for her and added that all the film crews adored her.
My faves – and no one has mentioned the first one yet
REMEMBER THE NIGHT w Fred MacMurray
DOUBLE INDEMNITY w Fred MacMurray again
MEET JOHN DOE
There's more, but those are 3 I especially like.
Here's her credits on the IMDB

Am I the last person in the world to be informed that GEICO (the insurance company that dropped advertising of Glen Beck) stands for Government Employee Insurance Company (George Soros owned.)?
Man that Barbara Stanwyck – I'll go wherever she wants to take me
GEICO – one of the most expensive auto insurers i ever checked out. For rich people who don't care.
I use 21st Century and over the years little things were taken care of with no boost in rates. One time problem q=when they offered a lowball check on a totaled car. We went to war – which consisted of some heated calls to them from me and voice mails from me to them, too. The old game – make a low bid and hope the milquetoast goes for it.
First there was Grand Theft Auto (PC and Playstation 1), then GTA2 (also for PC and Playstation 1), GTA2: London 1967 (only for PS1). Then it's Grand Theft Auto 3 (for PS2 and Xbox1), then came the extentions of Vice CIty (miami) and San Andres (West coast). Now for xbox 360 and PS3 is GTA4 with the extenions of "The lost and the damned" and "Ballad of BGT".
With full games and extentions across all systems they number 14 releases (10 games 4 extensions) .
Hope it helps
I hear ya, but I think that having half the population hysterically twist its knickers over every perceived 'threat' to its personal ideology is just as ridiculous. (Happened during the Bush years when people were told to 'watch out' for suspicious terror-related stuff, remember? The left went bonkers then, too) What's taught at home is always going to trump school. Those countries had parents who had probably less education than the kids and had also grown up under dictators, in societies with no free press/internet/town square, etc. That's just not the case here, and never has been. Besides–didn't the hippie generation grow up pledging the flag every day and looking at pics of Washington and Lincoln on the wall?
Thanks Jed:
I was hoping somebody would say who that was. She's beautiful!
I didn't recognize her at all. I only know her from her Big Valley days when she was a bit older.
Geez, I loved that show when I was a kid! I was quite in love with a young co-star named Lee Majors!
And I wanted to be Linda Evans.
You might even have been able to start a "bionic dynasty" so to speak.
I PLEDGE:
to give my son a four-day Labor Day Weekend.
If it's good enough for federal employees, it's good enough for him. And he gets to avoid brain-washing from the White House.
Also…Barbara Stanwyck is seriously underrated! Awesome actress!
