Name this movie: An ace CIA operative, condemned as a rogue and now hunted by the Company, bashes and crashes his way through colorful foreign settings, pursued by heavily armed hit men, while back at Langley headquarters an inscrutable deputy director and one of his top lieutenants are arousing the...

Uhn, why release a movie about Halloween on freaking Aug 28th? I do not get this. When I was a kid, we always went to see these movies in OCTOBER. This makes them seem, I dunno, seasonal? People won't give a rat's rear by the time Halloween actually rolls around. Seems stupid. However, I did watch the first Zombie Halloween, and it scared me. Of course, it doesn't take much…………
Odd release date aside, Rob Zombie is a pretty good horror directer. Should be worth checking out.
The reason being is simple, this movie will tank, be in theaters for two weeks tops and be ready to distribute on DVD just in time for a late October release.
I actually quite enjoyed the first Halloween remake, so I'll be seeing this one. Can't be worse than the Friday The 13th remake….now THAT was awful.
'Cause then they'll be competing against the latest installment of the "Saw" series, which has owned the Halloween season since they came out.
The reason is to not have to compete against the "SAW" series which has a stranglehold on the Halloween season ever since the first movie. I highly doubt this one will "tank." The first one was very successful. I'm not a fan of the first remake at all. I liked the original WAY better. But people WILL see this one in theaters.
Well it might not tank, but it is going up against two really well recieved movies in "Inglorious basterds" and "District 9", granted I haven't watched that much TV to see if there is a media blitz for this movie. And it depends on what the studio considers a solid box office. Personally I'd rather go see QT's movie than this because as you said, the original was sooooo much better, the only reason I even would root for this movie as with the other is because Malcom Mcdowell is in it and I enjoy his work.
Blame the 'Saw' movies.
Zombie's first Halloween movie also opened on Labor Day weekend. I saw part 2 a few weeks ago. It's pretty brutal (in a good way) especially the first few minutes.
There are some tributes to the old story lines, even parts 4 and 5. I think he really wanted his wife to be in it so he made up this ridiculous notion that Michael Myers does what he does because his dead mother tells him to. I enjoyed it though. Very Zombie-esqe.
I cringed the most during a scene that compared eating meat to being a psychotic serial killer. It was way too long or at least it seemed long. You'll see.
Didn't even know it was being made. Either I'm out of the loop or there's zero buzz. I'll stick with the original. The original sequel gets one star on the DVR guide, but it's watchable. I even like III.
Part 3 haha….."It's time! It's time!" *puts on his mask and stares at the television*
Happy, happy Halloween
Halloween, Halloween
Happy, happy Halloween
Silver Shamrock
Tom Atkins is always usually good.
Rob Zombie is a freaking awful director, and I haven't seen 5 minutes of any of his movies that were worth me watching (let alone paying for). Watching his work is like getting operated on by a surgeon wearing boxing gloves. Ugh….
If this is the direction movies are headed, then Hollywood can keep losing money as far as I'm concerned.
Why?
Yeah, they doin' the Season of the Witch remake, next?
I put Zombie's remake of "Halloween" in the same boat as the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" from a few years back. They pay homage to the original instead of being direct remakes/knockoffs and show respect to the material while putting their own spin on it. And since both original flicks are among my favorite movies of all time, that's saying something.
Zombie's not perfect as a director, but he's unique, you can tell he loves his work, and he seems to try his best to be original (as original as you can be with a remake/reimagining) and fresh in his approach. After the message-driven "District 9" and the awesomely over-the-top "Basterds," I'll give this a Saturday or Sunday morning matinee peek.
i saw this at midnight last night…
idk, i loved the first Halloween remake Zombies spin made it way better than the average remake……but Halloween 2 i just felt indifferent after watching. it lacked the old scare suspense (this one has plenty of "nervous-suspense) and became more like the torture-porn movies (i dont like the Saw's but i give credit that they pretty much own that style now)
its also much more psychological with dreams and hallucinations (quasi tributes to the original Halloween 4-5), with some of it working and some of it not….
6/10 i wanted to love it, but i only liked some of it….
I liked the original Halloween II with Pamela Susan Shoop…… and that whirlpool scene
I actually think "Halloween (07)" is MUCH BETTER than the original, so I can't wait to see this one.
The backstory killed the first one for me. He's hoping this one is better.
Saw Halloween II in theaters, and I must say I was highly disappointed. You can tell by my profile that I am a bit of a Halloween buff considering I work for a Halloween Costume Website. The first of these retellings was excellent. It added new depth to characters that were lacking in portrayal and took new turns into unexplored territories of the franchise. This newest installment did nothing of the sort.
I felt the original gave the appearance that the film was set in the 70s and then perhaps the 80s, however in this they have cell phones, make references to Fergie, there are new cars, etc. Also, they give no explanation as to how Michael miraculously survives multiple .357 (a gun designed to destroy tissue and organs) gunshot wounds.
